Review Pints And Quarts - Ottawa

Marc Gagnon
It’s been a tough season for the REDBLACKS season. After the last home game, walked up Bank Street to the Glebe Central Pub. Admittedly, it’s still strange to see a packed restaurant, but also great to see friends and fans gather post-game. The game day menu, while limited, made sure it had something to fill the hunger void. All the safety protocols were in place (vaccination check, etc). The service was attentive and quick, especially considering the place was hoping. I’m looking forward to next season, but in the meantime, I’ll be visiting here again.

First time ever. The waffle nachos were absolutely amazing!!!! I will go back just for those they are that good. Staff were friendly and we did not have to wait long for our food despite it being busy.
Dr. Claw.
Nice little spot! great trivia on Tuesday, had the waffle fries they were great. Live music, nice atmosphere. Recommended for a relaxed night out.

A hidden gem in a quaint part of town. A must visit for great food made from scratch onsite. It's very noticeable the owners are hands on and take pride in providing great food, drink and service. Very much recommended!

Excellent pub vibes. Good beer and wing deals. Place was jammed with Billy Talent fans pre-concert but even on a Monday staff handled the crowd well. Good service, good beers, good wings. 4/5 because no dipping sauce for wings.
Laurel Bryon
Great selection of local beers and a rotating tap. The staff are incredibly friendly and accommodating. The food is fresh and delicious - I've yet to order a dish I didn't enjoy. There isn't a very large patio section but you can sit at high chairs and watch the world go by.

We run the supporters club for Arsenal and Glebe Central is where we host our watchalongs! The pub has always been so supportive and accommodating of us and the selection of beer and food is great too
Antoine Joseph
Been there over a dozen times in the past year. Friendly people and great food. Highly recommend!!

The best burger I’ve ever had is here! Food is amazing! Lots of rotating taps for those craft lovers! Owner is very personable!

Great music, great atmosphere, and amazing food! I love that they have vegan options.

Great crowd and entertainment

I had a very nice lunch , the food was fantastic, and the service was friendly and prompt.

In addition, the owner came by to chat with us and make sure we were enjoying our meal which was a very nice touch. I would highly recommend this restaurant !

The variety of food offered is much better than what is typically found is a pub or bar - something for everyone. The also offer a nice selection of local beers in addition to the usual suspects. Worth another visit!

I really impressed with the taste of their foods. really delicious. Also Bar is one of the best in Ottawa. my fav spot . highly recommended.Hamburger is amazing Juicy with fried onion.Try quesadilla and the crispy fish marinated in butter.

Cute little pub in The Glebe that's an awesome pick if you're in the market for a new regular neighborhood haunt. My friend and I chose a cozy booth toward the back, but bar seats as well as a patio seats are also options. I enjoyed a snack of mozzarella sticks, served with a side of fresh, just-spicy-enough salsa. My pal loved the Philly Cheese Steak Sandwich, with a generous, but not overwhelming, serving of fries. The service was attentive, friendly, while respecting our space. If you're in the mood for pub fare and an impressive selection of beers, check out P & Q!

Best pub in the glebe. Great casual, fun atmosphere - fantastic food - always a fun time especially on the weekends, lots of socializing, great way to chill with new people
John M
Excellent St. Patrick's Day! I've always had a good time at the pub and St.Paddy's was no exception - great laughs, music and exceptional service as always. A great local pub with atmosphere!
Robert826
Slow service. My server asked me multiple times what I had just to forget to bring it back. I dont know why she asked my name because my bill was also incorrect. in the past I've had a great time at PQs but the lack of care really turned me off.
MJB
Very friendly and accommodating staff. Not so great food. More of a place to grab a beer!
Tune_driver
The staff was very nice but the food was greasy and fries tasted as if they were store-bought frozen. My friend had a burger, which tasted bland. Very disappointed.
Nicole.garden
Great burgers, great beer. Some of the best burgers I've had in town, and a great selection of sandwiches. Portions aren't stupid huge and the staff are great. The weekend afternoons it's a great lunch place, quiet and intimate, that kind of pub that's more of a family restaurant than a pub. Sometimes on sports nights it gets a bit loud around the projector screen but fortunately there's another section around the corner and behind a wall from the loud sportsbeasts. Beer selection is great. It's in the regular rotation.

I have been to this pub a few times now after having just moved into the Glebe. The staff are fantastic and have always made me and my wife feel at home, with lots of laughs and great service. The food is very good, large servings and well presented. The owner is a great host and keeps the atmosphere fun and lively - I think we found the perfect place to kick back, listen to great music and have fun.

Eh... ok. I went here with my husband on a saturday night. the food was good and the owner seemed to be very engaging. the server made multiple mistakes and hardly seemed to be paying attention. i saw the bartender drinking multiple shots (i guess she thought she was being sneaky?). overall it was an ok experience but the staff seemed drunk and i doubt we will return.

Best pub in Ottawa (hands down). WOW, this place is great. Just always such quality food, well prepared. The owner is always there too and there is just so much pride of ownership there. To be honest, I'm surprised it's not more packed all the time considering how consistently great the food is. The service is also excellent.

-----25 Jul, 2014-----

My favorite pub in Ottawa (hands down). WOW, this place is great. Just always such quality food, well prepared. Love it. Best poutine in town, and believe me i tried every poutine in Ottawa...Absolute favorite burger is amazing.... so delicious...every time i go there i wish i could get hungry more so i could order all of them at the same time....

Best burgers. Whenever I crave burgers, I crave P&Q burgers, they are by far the most delicious burgers ever!

I'm hooked on this pub!!. Ate here (again) Friday, Feb 28th 2014. I'm impressed and love that the owners take pride in their establishment. I have to be honest, I didn't really enjoy my first visit at P&Q in 2013. The service was great, but the food wasn't. EXCEPT, every other visit (3) since has been AMAZING. The owners are so accommodating, friendly and truly want your dining experience to be a great one. I had the portobello mushroom burger and my boyfriend had the quinoa burger. The look of shock on my boyfriend's face when I stated that P&Q's portobello mushroom burger was BETTER than MY OWN (and better than The Works!!) = PRICELESS! And I'm a great cook (I swear I am not just biased!!) Also, my boyfriend is vegan and this pub is that special place in Ottawa where you can go out with a group of friends that are meat eaters and still not be stuck ordering a plain salad for the vegan in the group. EVERYONE has good eats!! And the beer list is one of my favourites in Ottawa - I love when I have 4 choices that are top contenders so I can switch it up throughout the night if I want to. So would I go again? Yes. Would I recommend you go? Yes!

Upgrade in the Glebe. Way better food than prior restaurant. Love the burgers, nice and juicy. Everything I order has been great. Will be back often.

NICE BUT COLD.... Not too sure what is happening since the Oak left... of course its great food- better than the oak, and the company-crowd is great... the music... well not so much- BUT WHAT IS WITH THE COLD.... its freezing inside there.. and block heaters on tables to warm .. the owner- landlord should invest in fixing the baseboard heaters...
East End Foodie
Dynamite pub. My wife and I went for for a drink or two on St. Patty's and had a great time. The owner has got to be the nicest guy in Ottawa -- and he cooks. I had the Irish Stew. Dynamite. All in all - the best little pub in the Glebe.

-----17 Nov, 2013-----

Best pub in the Glebe!. Hands down the best pub in the Glebe.

The food is great... but the best part is Amir... the hard working, friendly owner who runs the place magnificently.

It has been a long while since I have seen an owner care about his customers like he does!

The burgers are great!
CrystalWaters
Friendly service. Tasty burgers. The rosemary in the dip for the onion rings was overpowering. The zucchini sticks were from frozen and served with sour cream which didn't help improve them. Nice spinach salad option as a side(extra cost but worth it). Impressive beer selection.

Finally, a pub with good food in the glebe. Update: I have stopped going here due to the TERRIBLE service.

My hockey team has been searching out a pub in the glebe with good food. The Corner has great ambiance, but terrible food. (Like make you sick bad.) Arrow and the Loon has an impressive beer menu, but meh food again. Clocktower's menu is fairly boring. P&Q, however, was great! All my teammates loved their food (most of them got the sunnyside burger). I wish the lettuce wraps came wrapped instead of build-your-own, but they were nonetheless quite good. The owner came over to greet us and gave us a shot at the end of the night. I think we found our post-hockey pub.

Amazing Burgers. Tried the burgers last night after reading the reviews here and my buddy and I were very impressed. The owner was nice and came around to the table to say hi. Definitely a candidate for one of the best burgers in Ottawa. Going back again tonight :P
Msmely
Better burgers than The Works by a long shot.
Yassir K Bahaziq
Best burger in town great flavor even better than five guys and the works I highly recommend it
Ashley Mac
The Mediterranean Burger is the best burger I have ever eaten. P&Q had a surprisingly gourmet pub menu, with all freshly prepared items. I highly recommend coming here for a pint and food. The owners are always around and check in with the tables which gives the place a welcoming feel.

LOVE IT. Discovered this place when we were visiting Ottawa from Toronto on Canada Day. Best burgers we've EVER had, fresh Guinness on draft, dartboards, great music, and super-friendly staff. Will DEFINITELY be returning next time we're in Ottawa :)

A great addition to the Glebe. Really pleasant (and fast) service. They were genuinely pleased that we enjoyed our meals. Which we did - 1 burger with a side spinach salad, and 2 orders of fish and chips. The latter were good, the former was terrific.
Also an extensive and interesting selection of beers.
We'll be back!

Came with a large party-half were children. Despite having a reservation weeks in advance they were totally unprepared. Our waitress was lovely but clearly overwhelmed. Appetizers arrived with or after the mains. Kids were fed AFTER the adults even though their orders were taken first. Almost 2 hours from arrival to food on tables for most (though inexplicably some peoples' food arrived 45 minutes earlier). Told delays because it was a busy night, but very few tables besides our large group - and they knew we were coming. Food was good - but of course we were starving by the time we were fed, so who knows. Lots of mistakes in the orders but most of us just sucked it up because we couldn't stand any more delays. Have done this big group annually at other spots with much better service.

Just had a wonderfully relaxed dinner at P&Q- the steak sandwich was delicious. All the components were tasty and fresh! The owner is also friendly and attentive- an excellent new local favourite!

We went on a Saturday night with a group of 7. The restaurant was about half full and accommodated us with no issue. Our server was fantastic and the draft menu was extensive. 3 of the guys ordeted the wings but were really unimpressed with the size, quality and taste. 2 of us ordered the burgers and they were fantastic. Very flavorful, juicy and priced really reasonably. 1 person order the sweet potato and quinoa burger and also really enjoyed it. We would definitely return again but would stay away from the wings. All in all an enjoyable meal!

Philly Steak with a twist.. I recently tried the Cheese Steak sandwich at the P&Q and was pleasantly surprised. It's not your traditional Philly Steak sandwich, it's more. The sauce is completely different and has a little kick to it, which I loved. It's clearly a more complex sandwich with a wider range of flavors. And the ciabatta bread complements the flavor profile perfectly. It's "10 taste buds out of 10" for me on this sandwich. Loved it.

As a meat lover I was skeptical about choosing the portobello mushroom burger but it did sound tasty so I gave it a go. And it didn't let me down one bit. From the looks to the 'meaty' taste they have made a raving fan out of me! I did swap my fries to sweet potato which were served hot and crispy.
All served quickly by lovely attentive staff. Everything was fresh and hot and very yummy! Definitely coming back! :)

Reservation. I called P&Q to ensure a good table on Saturday March 9, as it was my birthday, and I was to be treated by two good friends. When I arrived, the owner, Mary Ann, had set a most impressive table with a white table cloth, and flowers. She greeted us all warmly, and was most attentive. The breakfast was enjoyed by everyone, served on very nice plates, and finished with a fruit sundae complete with a lit candle. It was the most pleasant of treats all round, and I commend Mary Ann and her staff for the attention and detail they went out of their way to afford us. P&Q might be a Pub, but it offers a service far beyond, if one requests it. Thank you all people. I shall recommend you.

Thank you "anhonestreview" for making me want to go out and try the burger at P & Q myself. Went last night for their special burger with a spinach and goat cheese salad on the side. And let me just say it definitely measured up to my standards. It is by far one of the yummiest burgers in town. I definitely recommend to all burger lovers. Spinach salad was amazing and the goat cheese and dried cranberries were just a great touch.

I don't think I ate at the same place as these other people.. So I leave the city for awhile and come back to what I thought was The Royal Oak only to discover a completely new staff and a different sign outside. As far as changes go, that's about it. Not even the drink specials have changed.

I seriously question the veracity of some of these reviews. Don't fool yourself people, this place is essentially a clone of the Royal Oak that was there previously. There may be some changes to the menu, but the quality is the same. I'm not saying it's awful, but it's pub food - nothing half as exciting as some of these reviews make it out to be. Definitely not "fresh". I've tried the burger, which was good but not "10x better than the Works" as one other reviewer noted. Tried other things such as the Poutine and Salads. Same as The Royal Oak.

Service is... adequate. Certainly not worth some of the gushing that's been going on here. The new owners are nice enough (almost to a fault) but have clearly never been in this business before.

I live close to the neighbourhood and when it was The Royal Oak I'd walk by and pop in a few times a month. I have noticed there are fewer people in there at any given time as opposed to when it was The Royal Oak. If the regulars aren't that regular anymore, that should tell you all you need to know.

Succinctly, there are much better options within a minute or two walk of this place.
SupDoc
Who wrote those reviews? P&Q's grandma?. No bloody way this many people like the food...or the service....

Nice enough owners, I am sure. They seem full of hope. They always there on the weekend....tough jobs...taking over a business that had a reputation for crappy food can't be easy. .. If there was a check mark for "good people/bad food" , I'd totally check it.

The food is boring and sub-par at best - BE HONEST. The last time I ordered food it was the fish and chips and the grease was pooling under it. Time before that: soup and sandwich - just canned/pre-made oily crap and a cheddar stuffed wrap I could have gotten at any ...erm....Royal Oak.

Given the choice of food options in the Glebe, and my own experience eating there, I find that these previous ratings are just a wee bit over the top to be taken serious.

Another great nite out last nite over at Ps & Qs. Guinness was great (as usual) and the food excellent. Love the sharing platter :).. Always a pleasure to see the owner making sure everyone is tended to. Bar service was excellent. Attentive and personable.

Lunch. Had lunch last week at this great new place in the Glebe.
Burger was super.
Will be back.

My co-worker and I had lunch here today (Feb.5/13). I have to say we were extremely impressed to see that it is no longer a Royal Oak and is now independently owned. We both ordered burgers, and they were FANTASTIC!!! I had a fresh spinach salad on the side, and he had a Caesar. Both were generous portions and very fresh. The burgers are homemade and mine was so good I even finished it, despite the large size of it. We were happy to see Kichesippi 1855 on tap, a local favorite beer of ours. Overall we had a great experience. Our server, Shannon, was friendly and attentive. We will be back to see her for more Tuesday lunches :)

Wow! I am so impressed!!. I have lived in Ottawa for a long time and I have never had such good service in my life as I did at Pints and Quarts! I went there with a friend last week for a business lunch and had what I think may be the best burger ever (Absolute favorite burger with awesome fries). Our server, who was also the bartender was so great. She really seemed to care about us, which is rare these days. If I had a business, I would want her! We will be back here for sure! I want to try all the different burgers.

Best Burger EVER. My roommate and I just got back from eating at P&Q and both had the DIY Burger. IT WAS AMAZING!!!! She got the poutine on the side which I couldn't stop eating from. The gravy is homemade and tastes awesome. I had onion rings and they were soooooo good. The burgers were the best I've ever had. I definitely recommend this restaurant to all burger lovers! Will be taking my parents there when they come to visit.

Great Addition to Bank Street!. A group of us went to P&Q last Friday for drinks. What a great place to hang out after work. The interior is basically the same as when it was the Royal Oak, but the service is awesome. The owner was amazing, tending to our orders, bringing us pints, nachos etc. This place is going to be a mainstay for our Friday night relaxation prior our weekend wind-down.

Love the food, desserts, especially brownie love, are amazing and really good people. Definitely recommended.

Best bar in the Glebe and Ottawa! Great menu and amazing service! The owners are the nicest people, and as regulars they have made us feel at home. P & Q is perfect for any occasion and a great time.

Pub Food Done Right!. Pleasantly surprised to drop in for a quick bite while running and errands. Ordered jalapeño poppers, the special burger, and the clubhouse wrap. The poppers were amazing - hot, crispy with a great batter. My boyfriend really enjoyed his burger - and though he had wanted to go to the Works, felt that this burger was much better than what he would have got down the street. My wrap was delicious - the chicken was crispy and hot, fresh ingredients and amazing fries. Our waitress was friendly and the owner took the time to bring us our food, introduce himself and ask us about our experience. Will definitely come back here!!

Fantastic, fresh, delicious! What an amazing burger! It melted in my mouth.
Doug Miller
Best burger in town hands down! 3 dollar mill st beer too!!!!!!

Fantastic burgers. Easily the best burgers in town, carefully crafted under what looks like very strict supervision by the owner. Juicy, tender, and very flavourful, I normally have to go to the US to get burgers like this.

The other menu items, notably the Spinach dip, are also must-haves. They clearly do not skimp on their food preparation. Very refreshing to find pub fare this good.

The service is also fantastic, and you can tell the new owners are looking to create a nice, cozy neighbourhood bar and restaurant that emphasizes proper service to the customer.

Will definitely go back.

An Exceptionally Place of Everything ! All in One Family-Managed Pub. We had two massive parties organized by P&Q team. Such a pleasant experience. This place has everything! Great food, great service, great prices, great staff - they have it all!! I highly recommend spending your time here.
Ash
My new favorite Ottawa pub! I just had the best brunch, with the worlds tastiest home fries. I highly recommend this new pub to anyone looking for a new watering hole. The owners are friendly and present, reminiscent of an old English pub where you can stop in for a chat and a pint.
Errr
Excellent experience! Breakfast weekend brunch menu was great, food was amazing. Enjoyed every single bite. It was quick to come and satisfied my every need! I loved it that the lovely owners came by to check up and ensure I was having a great experience! I will be back soon and often
Myra
My friend & I just found out that the ownership has changed from Royal oak to P&Q so we gave the food a try 2 nights ago. I had the P&Q burger & my friend had the meatloaf. Both meals were amazing. The owner made sure to stop by our table and ask for our feedback. Overall a very nice experience. Will definitely be back to try more of their foods.

Excellent food!. The best breakfast I've ever had in town! Just the way I like it! Home made quality brought to you by friendly staff! And the owners kind and helpful! Thank you P&Q..I will definitely be coming back for more :)

-----09 Dec, 2012-----

Food. The best breakfast I've ever had in town! Just the way I like it! I'm not sure I went to the same spot as the other reviewers. Went for breakfast on Saturday, around 1pm, so well past the rush. I went for an original breakfast, eggs over easy white toast and sausage, nothing too complex. The eggs came out without a drop of liquid left in the yolk. the waitress eventually came by to see if all was well (no reference to my empty coffee cup or water glass) I sent the breakfast back. A few minutes later the owner comes by to tell me that they are out of sausage and I can have bacon or ham. Fine. the breakfast eventually comes out some 35 minutes after I got there and I proceed to eat it (the eggs were in fact over easy this time!) the owner never came back to see if all was well, in fact she stood and chatted with her friends, right accross from my table for the duration of my visit. This place clearly has a lot to learn about hospitality, this isn't a coffee shop. I won't be back

Wow the best burger we have ever had. Wonderful service and exceptional food

Just had the best burger in town at pintes and quarts. 100 times better than works. You have to try this burger.

Awesome Service, Great Food. We loved the bangers and mash here, the owner is often around making sure everything is to par and the servers are quick. Very cozy and they have wifi. We had a lovely dinner with pints of beer and then got some work done. It was a nice change from going to starbucks for a coffee and working.

Pints & Quarts strikes me as a place where you can come and have a good time. The service goes a long way to making sure that you are comfortable with your surroundings. The food complimented all that.
