Review Jimmy The Greek - Ottawa

Like most, I have eaten at a lot of Greek restaurants but I have to say, the roasted lamb shank meal that I had here was outstanding. Perfectly braised and seasoned lamb shank that was luscious… accompanied by beautifully roasted Greek style potatoes, soft and flavourful with a hint of citrus. Heavily dilled tzatziki that was nice and thick with a nicely balanced Greek salad with a wonderful dressing and fresh tomatoes. At $15.25, it was a third of the price that I have paid at some high end Greek restaurants and twice as good…and this place is in a food court no less. Highly recommended.

The food was good, I tried Calamari meal, but the lady was not friendly, I felt like I was begging for food, I will return but will try avoid this young afroamerican lady

The good was great. But the older man who served us was incredibly rude and gave us unnecessary attitude. *the man in the picture. Would go back for the food, not the hospitality.

Will never eat there again. Today had lunch there in Rideau Center, and there was a dead fly in my salad. I don't think I can eat at that food court anymore... Anyway, I took it to the counter and showed it to the workers there, asking if they washed the lettuce- they just acted like this is not a big deal, telling me why I am showing it to them and I need to just throw it away. That's it!!! The way they acted was like blaming me for pointing that out. Apparently they don't wash the vegetables (in this case, the lettuce). I should have taken a photo, but was not thinking about writing a review at that time. 😕

I asked for a chicken souvlaki with an extra lemon, politely, but my respond was if you want extra lemon you should go and buy it from outside!!!! I noticed they been rude with other customers too when they were asking for an extra napkins. Would not recommend this restaurant to others! Too many other better options in that mall !!!

My first dining in experience amidst the current pandemic. I used to eat here a lot during the university days. The place has been relocated, but the quality of food is still great. Food quality: Excellent Cleanliness: Excellent Employees: Well, I wasn't greeted, but that's okay. They served food pretty quick, and in great portion. Wait time: None at 6pm on Monday. Pricing: Average I'm satisfied even after all these years. Thanks.

Was in town for a week and had to come here a second time for their souvlaki on rice, potato and salad. Everything was delicious.

I got a chicken platter and I wasn't looking at the person make my food but after I paid for my food n took it home, I realized that they forgot the chicken ( not sure how ) I called them and they told me come back and get another plate. It was late so I decided to go the following day because I was in rideau already and when I told the woman at the cash, she remembered me from the previous day and as she was making the plate,this Indian guy that usually cooks the food started yelling at her and then me and said " idc who you spoke with yesterday but am not giving you another plate", Hadid offer to replace my chicken break but wanted me to pay for another plate if I wanted rice, potatoes and salad. I just said nevermind and thank you.

Terrible service. Initially when I ordered, they said it would be a 5 minute wait, which was fine. Five minutes later, they told me it would be another five minutes. This happened a third time before they actually started making my order. They literally had no line, with 2 workers standing by idly. Ordered a beef souvlaki meal well done. It was not well done. Finally got my food 20 minutes later and received no compensation for their disorganization. The food was good though but It was annoying to have to wait that long, especially while others were being served much faster.

For a mall style fast food place I cant say I was expecting to be blown away. I had a grilled chicken. Salad and the chicken was delicious. The salad dressing was lacking flavour.

Terrible old food at Dufferin Mall. I love Jimmy the Greek, but at Dufferin Mall's Jimmy the Greek, they serve old food, most of the time the potatoes look disgusting and is impossible to eat with at least 1 week old. I eat also on Eaton Center they have the best Jimmy the Greek.

Delicious nearly-healthy fast food. A big fan of their salmon dinner; excellent rice and roasted potatoes. The salad is my favourite as the dressing is light but flavourful.

The roast chicken dinner is normally good value at $6.49, but the chicken leg they just served me was dessicated - I'd say it was at least a day old. Terrible.

It's the only healthy fast food in canada, superb quality friendly staff and for some reason you get addicted to it

Really good quality for fast food. Staff always friendly and efficient. One of the best salads I ever had! I love their marinated chicken. Excellent choice if you are in a food court.

Well today I felt like a mean Greek salad and Jimmy The Greek has never disappointed me before. It's close, fresh and always very very tasty; what more could I ask for at lunch? I decided at the last minute to add the chicken and I can honestly say, this was the best decision I've made all day. I give the Greek Salad w/ chicken a 3.75 out of possible 5 stars. I would take this rating with a grain of salt, it all depends on how good the rest of the food gets from here on out. If I stick to pub food this one will move on up to a 4. Maybe I will re-review this one some day . . .

Last Saturday after doing some shopping downtown and returning back to OC Transpo 's Transitway I decided to stop off at the Rideau Centre's Food Court for a bite to eat. I settled on Jimmy the Greek ( 50 Rideau Street, Ottawa  ) as Big Smoke Burger had both cash registers tied up trying to figure out a customer's debit card transaction. After waiting behind one customer, I was ready to order at Jimmy the Greek with a friendly smiling young lady brimming with exuberance. The Order : 1 Chicken Souvlaki Dinner with 1 Can of Coke. Jimmy The Greek Rideau Centre Dining Hall Storefront After finding a table to sit down within the busy Saturday lunch time mall food court scene, I took a look at my meal to be disappointed.  Sure there was plenty on the plate in terms of rice, Greek Salad and potatoes, but there was just one measly skewer of chicken. You would figure with the dish being called "Chicken Souvlaki Dinner" that the "Chicken Souvlaki" would be both plentiful as it is the centre of attention. Sadly, no, just one skewer was available.   Chicken Souvlaki Dinner The dish was satisfactory with the chicken being grilled but slightly on the dry side.  The salad was an average in freshness but saved by the Greek Salad Dressing.  The rice was just about right but nothing my wife and I couldn't master at home.  The potatoes were an interesting take on Greek style potatoes with an interesting taste to them which went well coupled with the leftover tzatziki sauce from my consumption of the chicken skewer.   Overall, Jimmy the Greek isn't that special.  At $11.69 for a food court meal including canned soft drink and taxes, it's over priced.  If there had of been just one extra chicken skewer the price may have been reasonable.  Hopefully Jimmy will pull his socks up and listen to his mother about proper Greek hospitality and not skimping on the main part of a dish. 

Love the food from here. It's delicious. Would recommend it if you like Greek food and if you don't mind "food court"-style food.
