Review Union Street Kitchen Cafe - Ottawa

I live 500 metres from this cafe but would happily travel 500 KMs to come here. They are such a unique gem in New Edinburgh and everything Christine makes is fantastic. Come to the cafe and then go for a stroll around a lovely and unique neighbourhood in Ottawa.

Some of the best pastries in the neighborhood, consistently baked fresh that morning. Hard to find a better almond croissant or cinnamon spiral. Being located in a quiet residential neighborhood gives it a more European feel. Before COVID, I actually didn’t like Union Street — I found the staff unfriendly, cold, and inattentive. Since COVID, this has become my favorite coffee shop in the neighborhood — everyone is supper warm and friendly. Not having indoor seating, and having everyone outside in a nice residential neighborhood makes for a great atmosphere that makes you want to hang around. Keep up the great work! :)

Just tried this cute cafe for the first time and was pleasantly surprised by how tasty everything was! My son loved his almond butter & banana muffin. Also, they were out of ready-made vegan sandwiches, so they made me this vegan pesto & beet sandwich on the spot and it was FANTASTIC! Highly Recommend this place!

Absolutely amazing and quaint privately owned cafe. Had a scrumptiously delicious iced oat milk latte and a raspberry yogourt danish. So fresh!!! Service was great, prompt and very friendly. Will definitely be back. Thank you.

Cute little cafe in a quiet residential area by the water. Cold brew coffee with oat milk was solid and the cookies are great. Couldn't go inside because of the pandemic but looked like a nice place to hangout.

The owner , Christine , and her team were a delight this Good Friday . I decided to take my mom and dad here while we were out on a walk and were so happy we decided to stop by and try this hidden gem. It was the magical smell that had lured me from many blocks away .. The baked goods were heavenly and the team went above and beyond by making me the best Americano, baked treats and a fresh and ready to order egg plant Parmesano Reggiano Sandwich on focaccia . It was the best Version of this dish I have ever tasted ( sorry to my mother in law who cooks the best Ital food ) My wife asked me to run back when I realized I left it there on the counter, and she thanked me 3 times for going back to get it. They were so kind about it .. Do yourself the favour of trying this hidden gem ; you will not be disappointed. Grazie Mille !

I will recommend this cafe to anyone looking for an enjoyable comfortable afternoon. Looking forward to the summer when we can sit on the patio.

The ambience, food, coffee & staff are wonderful! I have only visited twice but will become a regular! The food is delicious & beautiful. Coffee is perfect & if you have a chance to have an affogato don't hesitate. Simply wow! The staff are attentive, sweet & clearly dedicated to the cafe & all the deliciousness they create. Walking into the Union St Cafe is like being welcomed home, very warm & inviting. Last but not least, the adorable Mickey is a huge asset! He is a beautiful addition & the best greeter:)

This cafe is absolutely amazing! This is a hidden gem in the heart of new Edinburgh. The atmosphere is easy going, comfortable and it feels like a second home. Christine is such a lovely heart centered person and this energy permeates and attracts good vibes all around. The coffee is on point (especially the dark), try the avocado toast (soo good) and the cookies are the best in the city.

What a great peaceful environment to hang out in and enjoy an espresso, golden milk or a lunch! The ambiance is nothing short of nostalgic and zen. Then there's an Amazing open space for meditation and yoga! A little peace of heaven on earth. Blessings!

Great discovery! It is a warm and very pleasant place to have delicious vegan or vegetarian soups and sandwiches. Cozy ambiance to chat with friends over a delicious cup of tea or coffee. Good selection of pastries if you have a sweet tooth.

What a great place! We enjoyed the wonderful, welcoming ambiance of the cafe. I had a yummy 😋 soup and a chai tea latte with a special syrup. And then some treats!!! There's a yoga space in the back, too, with several classes a week! Thank you Union Street Kitchen Cafe.

Super good! I am a bit of a snob about coffee and pastry.... Both are excellent. Good find and will definitely be back. Out of my way, but worth a little field trip :-)

Great tiny neighbourhood spot. Homemade all the things. Delightful mini raspberry Danish. Fabulous iced almond milk Maple cardamon latte. Yummy pizza with buffala mozza. And an adorable old Golden retriever. Would go back again and again.
