Amazing restaurant! I absolutely love this place. Unexplainably GREAT service and phenomenal food. A Chef cooks the food right in front of you; such a great experience. The Chefs and Servers are extremely friendly and attentive to anything you need. The flavours in the food are delicious. I will be back. :)

Really awesome place to kick back and live in the moment with a delicious meal cooked in front of your eyes. Great quality ingredients. A skillful and funny chef. Overall definitely recommend although there isn't a lot of variation in the sauces being used. Still delicious with a very friendly staff! Good times! Oh and for some reasons they were out of sake which did surprise me but hopefully it's not a common occurrence.

The service is excellent. The server's recommendations were awesome. The cook makes an effort to make the guest laugh and have fun. I recommend the chicken & shrimp. The server also recommended the crazy roll and it was delicious. Will definitely come again!

A birthday supper. Following Covid protocols closely. Asked for proof of vaccination and ID. Quick to serve, friendly, great show at the hot table, delicious food and I will be back. The hallway downstairs and women's washroom need some TLC. Loved the Japanese ice tea and the food was so good I left an empty plate.πŸ˜€ Adding a note: parking after 5 on the street or a lot right across the street (clearly noted with a sign)

There is nothing more typical Japanese than this! The food is amazing, the inside of the restaurant is beautiful and the service is super friendly. We ate tons while chatting with our chef (yes, you have your very own that cooks right at your table:) they also put on quite a fire show) about his country and culture. We had a great time with great people! I'm definitely coming back after Covid. Such a warm and welcoming place <3 γ‚γ‚ŠγŒγ¨γ†γ”γ–γ„γΎγ™!

A quest for something to eat last weekend in Ottawa, landed us in Edoko Japanese Steakhouse. They have Teppanyaki and a regular menu. We opted for the regular menu because we weren’t sure if we had a lot of time to spend there. I had the Terriyaki Steak cooked medium rare served with noodles, hibachi shrimp and vegetales. The steak was so tender and flavourful. There was also a lot of it.

The food was great and our chef was very friendly. The teriyaki steak was delicious! The food is quite a good value. For around 23$ I got a teriyaki steak (served in slices) that came with soup, a salad with some sort of incredibly flavourful vinaigrette, a few shrimp, quite a lot of vegetables, noodles, and rice. I would definitely come back here next time I'm in Ottawa.

Great Food. The food was absolutely amazing. Jonathan cooked for us and I found him to be a very nice guy and he knew what he was doing. Edoko is not the fanciest restaurant at the first look, and you might notice a kinnda weird smell when you sit at the teppan table but when you taste the food you'd know you've made the right choice. Will go back for more.

Great sushi. The sushi is amazing and the lunch special is very yummy. The dressing is so incredible that I buy it by the bottle.

Meh. Wish it were wow.. I remember Teppanyaki dinners in other cities which provided entertaining fun and savoury food. Our dinner for six yesterday was meh. For entertainment, the chef (who was quite pleasant) spun his spatula and knife a few times, and did the onion volcano trick. None of the serious showmanship I remember from other places in "olden" times. The raw meat looked lovely, but was unfortunately too steamed in cooking -meh (although the portion was enormous). Likewise the vegetables, meh. The rice was, again, meh. In Japan, serving good quality rice is a point of pride...

Sushi appetizers arrived in the midst of the cooking, which was awkward. Sushi was tasty and seemed nicely fresh. The saba (mackerel) was very lightly marinated, which was a nice touch.

The facilities really need some TLC. The aquarium in the front entrance needs to be cleaned or removed - it is unappetizing. The huge, fluffy, flowery couch needs to go (or in a pinch, to be covered). The handrails on the steep steps to the bathrooms and the doors to the bathrooms were sticky. Bathrooms themselves were also not so clean. This is so common, but so ugh! The place needs better ventilation, and perhaps some of those little Japanese curtains to hide the kitchen entrance, which just does not look nice. None of these things is expensive, just requires thought and upkeep.

Not authentic. Had the shabu shabu set.
Turned out to be some mediocre steamboat with not authentic japanese shabu shabu ingredients.

Some pluses, some minuses. Food was reasonable but decor is tired. For the price, I would have expected somewhat more attention to the look of the place (it looks in need of a serious refresh), proper china as opposed to plastic bowls and containers etc.

Best japanese. Loved it! flavourful and really charming service. The sauces were really good and the salad was yummy. Grant is the head waiter and he is a funny guy. The place has a true japanese atmosphere and the owner is one of the nicest guys. He likes to tell funny stories and told us how he cooked for Jean Chretien. I go there a lot with my boyfriend and enjoy myself and am happy every time I go. I recommend this place to everyone I know. I never leave with a stomach ache and they're portions are good. The food was different and tasted amazing and they make the best cocktails.

Avoid. An insult to the palate, the pocketbook the entire restaurant industry and Japan.

Restaurant was not clean. Service was very poor. Appetizers came after main meal. Main course was not explained to us. Food was tasteless.
