Review Bilal's Kabab - Ottawa

I stayed in Ottawa for two months and this restaurant has become by far my favorite in the area. The first thing you notice is that the chef is very friendly and welcoming. If you order any of the lamb dish, he will proudly tell you that you are served fresh local lamb and not frozen New Zeland lamb. Not sure what to eat? If you don't mind a dish that uses quite a bit of oil, I recommend the lamb karayi which at the end of the meal you will be cleaning the plate with your naan bread (I had this twice and both time I forget to take a picture). As for appetizer, I recommend the chicken tikka rolls. The attached picture is what you would get for an order of the lamb shank with the tikka roll. I will definitely eat there on my next visit to Ottawa and hopefully remind myself to take a picture before eating.

Tiny quiet place at dinner time. Fantastic food. Their kabab is phenomenal.

I went to eat here tonight. My spouse and I wanted to experience something new and were pleasantly surprised! Everything was cooked fresh and well seasoned. I had chicken and my partner had beef- both were well done. We had their ice cream and a sort of rice pudding. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants to experience new flavours and culture! Great service too! Thank you :)

We have tried several Afghan style restaurants in Ottawa, and this has to be the best by far. Not only it serves delicious Afghan food with generous helpings, but it is also unmatched by the excellent service and hospitality offered by the owner and his son. We have been to the restaurant several times, and we have always had an excellent experience. Our favorites are Shami Kabab, Karayi Kabab and the Eggplant dishes. We highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants to try a unique Afghan food experience. You will not be disappointed.

The beef, chicken, lamb, EVERYTHING, is too good. Price is excellent as well for the amount you get. Would HIGHLY recommend this excellent authentic Afghani restaurant. Loved the food and price. Staff is also very friendly, delivery is fast, and store is neat and clean. I would Rate it 10 STARS!

Everything was so fresh , and the young man who serves there was so polite and friendly. He gave my husband and I background that all their meat is sourced locally from their own farm. If you want to add flavour to your life this is the place to go. I recommend the dumplings they call "mantu" they are delicious! Good food , good service will definitely be coming back. We also placed an order for some steaks from their farm. Support local businesses!

Best Afghan food in Ottawa!! The eggplant and the sabzi is my favourite! Definitely try the soup, its always different and always amazing especially when you are sick it is the cure! The Lamb is fresh and cooked to perfection. I am never disappointed when I eat here, I always leave stuffed! :) highly recommended the buffet options.

Delicious food! Little pricy for takeout amount but delicious! They need to market more it's not popular like it should be. .I went at Saturday night dinner time and it was empty! The restaurant is very light decorated so they should give it a more afghani decor to bring out the theme. Highly recommended!

I started to love afghan food when I served in Afghanistan. The food is literally one of the best ive had, and the people are caring. Ive been to Belals Kabob a few times when Im in the west end. I have a favourite spot downtown that is my go-to place but this isnt bad. some people complain of the food being oily but the dishes usually are...i find it gives more flavor but its a matter of personal preference. this restaurant never seems to have more than a few customers at a time..maybe its the time of day ive gone. my girlfriend didnt care for the food so we probably wont be coming back here. she had the lamb and it was a little on the chewy side, but i personally liked what i had. my only critique with this place (and thats the reason im giving it one star) is that the waiter that served us was hovering while we were providing tip and we felt pressure to give a little more than we usually do...He also asked us to write a good review on google and yelp. I have never been asked that before in a restaurant. i know these millennials are all about technology these days but its rude. if someone wants to post a review then they will do so, and it should be honest feedback from customers not asked to post a good one. what happened to the good old days of just providing good service, and food and leaving customers to enjoy their meal? in my opinion let the business and food sell itself...Also my girlfriend posted a review a couple weeks ago and it was deleted. she personally didnt enjoy the food and the owner responded back to her saying that she wasn't an honest customer. I noticed he was doing that on other reviews which is dishonest...im sure its also not a coincidence that there are many other additional highly rated reviews posted all at once around the same time other negative reviews were deleted...<br/><br/>Stick to food, stick to service, but its not professional to be a fake review troll warrior. Perhaps the business isnt doing very well if you have to go out of your way to ask a customer to post a good review, and be obsessing with customers honest feedback? I have tried almost all of the afghan restaurants in Ottawa and majority of the food is superior, and the service is impeccable but i didn't like the arrogance of this fellow.

If there was no star I would not hesitate. I bet all the stars came from the family members of the owner. Food was cold and there was long piece of plastic string in it. I called the waiters over and asked about it in the most kind way. First of all she did not apologize at all, then she said " oh it's nothing, it fell from the rice bag into the food". Of course that's what happens when ppl from a different nationality operates restaurants that serves food from another country. Try ARYANA kabob house instead , you won't regret. <br/><br/>My advice: never eat at this location.

Did not enjoy the food. Was not the greatest. Not the best service. I will not be going back at all. There are other many options to choose from.

Fabulous and elegant displayed meal. Every dish from appetizers to main course was superb! I felt like I was eating a fabulous home cooked meal. The owners were extremely kind and pleasant and offered us green tea after our meal.  I would recommend everyone try this restaurant and I will keep my fingers crossed that they move downtown where I live. I would eat there at least once a week. Bravo to the owners!

By far the best Afghani food in all of Ottawa. The staff was very kind. The chef made sure that everyone was happy with their cooked meals. The meat was very tender. The restaurant was clean. The food was excellent and so was the price. I highly recommend this restaurant!

the best Afghani food in Ottawa by far. amazing service and quality food which was amazing. there food was great especially there beef kabob. the buffet was amazing with a huge varieties of food at a great price. i will keep going here. this is my favorite restaurant in the city.
