Such a great pub. Excellent service and felt so welcomed. The bartenders hand out drinks/shots to customers who are good to them and so I was well cared for at the bar. Nolan was a great bartender.

Party of two for dinner and drinks at Patty Boland's. Great selection of beverages and the meals were exceptional. Cobb salad, perogies, and nachos were all very good. Server (Latasha) was great, and our dinner was well timed - as we finished, entertainment started with the exceptional Julie Corrigan on guitar. Great evening.

They got everyone’s plates wrong and even though I got my food almost right away, the people that waited for over 5-10 min had to wait longer than us. The wings are actually good quality, but they’re cold. The waitresses are incredibly nice but they forgot to give us plates and napkins until half way. We went on Wings (Monday) night and the wings were actually 60 cents because of “Specialty” wings which are the flavours one. We weren’t notified about this and was surprised when got the bill.

Last night was a special might. My cousin from New Zealand is up and wanted to buy me dinner. She asked for the vegetable boxty. She also said she was a vegetarian and is there any meat in this. The waitress said no. When the meals came she asked who ordered the boxyy with chicken. I did and was given the plate. After eating some of the sides we cut into our boxty. Both had chicken. There was no sorry, remorse or can I get you something, free, while you wait for your meal. Then we were charged for her meal. The manager was not sympathetic to the situation either. We will never go back.

years ago the boxt was served in a pastry shell as it should be and was flavourful and awesome .. now it's served on pancake and tough and crap ... the atmoshere is still great and so are the servers but the food has gone so far downhill that it's not worth recommending at all anymore ... sad to say I used ot enjoy patty's as a place to go for comfort and feel good food now go to zak's around the corner its better and cheaper as well.

Just had dinner and drinks here on the weekend while my mum was visiting. Great atmosphere. The staff were amazing, the beer was cold and delicious and the food was excellent! I will definitely be returning!

Charged $18 for fish and chips when they are normally $15. There was no live music when I was there for 90min so I know the up charge wasn’t for music. Plus I got served my beer in a plastic cup... which is understandable but definitely not the same amount as a pint. Can’t wait to hear how I am wrong.

We went Friday February 03 after skating on the canal, needed beers and supper.. Had great service by our lovely waitress. Order for food was kind of slow for two orders of fries and an order of onion rings. Be back soon!

The bartenders are terrible. First time I waited at the bar at least 10 minutes and they wouldn't take my order, but they took everyone else's order who arrived after me. Second time, I waited at the bar while for a while. Two girls arrived after me and were given free drinks by the bartender who was hitting on them while my friends and I were ignored. We were then told by the bartender to go around to another side of the bar because he didn't want to be there. Unprofessional and just not very good at their jobs.

Normally i do not eat at pubs, but the menu looked really good. The patio up front was full, was told that they had a patio out back. It was much quieter than the street side patio. As it was surrounded by buildings, there was more shade and was cooler considering it was 27c outside.<br/><br/>I ordered the mango chicken with roasted potatoes and vegetables. The food was delicious. Service was also very good. The food was also well presented. <br/><br/>This restaurant is certainly a place I would come back to should I happen to be in town.

Not my first time here but our server Chris was fantastic! Would come back just to be his table. I got a margarita and it was nice and strong!! Got the steak and pasta entree and it was unreal! I was shocked at how great it was! Will defiantly return!!

Tourist in Ottawa. Walking around Bytown Market Saturday night, all restaurants very busy. Dropped in here, due to extensive menu compared to others. Food was very good, service was very good. Value was good. Had a very enjoyable time. Owner/Manager seemed genuinely concerned that we were looked after and everything was going well. Highly , recommend to others. Even my teenage daughters were happy, which is saying some .

Great food ~ great deals too!. Apparently a new owner took over this place last summer ('13) and really turned it around - the kitchen is pumping out fantastic stuff now, and there are great deals on Mondays & Fridays. 25 cent wings & 3 dollar hamburgers on Mondays. $5 appetizers (except for the crab cakes) on Fridays. Friendly staff, casual pub atmosphere until a little later in the night when live music or a DJ start up - then things get a little more energetic. Lots of big TVs too if you like watching the game.

Deals!!!. This place is good for only one reason 5$ pints and Apps on Friday!!! The price did go up 1$ (use to be 4$). If it goes up any higher you wont see me here. The place still looks the same after 12 years.

I didn't pick the place but not a bad experience. First off out waitress was lots of fun with a great attitude. Food was decent. My Irish boxy was good. No desserts though.

Not so great. The food was not very good at all. I ordered the peanut stir fry with beef. The rice noodles hadn't been properly drained, and thus watered down my meal. The beef was chewy and stringy. Some of the veggies were overcooked, while others were undercooked. Service wasn't great. I don't think I'll be going there for food again.

Terrible service! Terrible attitude! Will never go back. They are using their restaurant license only to be able to serve booze. Got there around 8pm on a Wednesday, lots of places to sit. Server came and told us they we were not a big enough group - then the manager came and warned us if we stayed and ordered food, we would probably would not be served. Said they wanted the seats for large groups which usually show up around that time! We interpreted this to mean university crowds on pub crawls or out for a big night. Our group of eight then left. Place was almost empty. Another group of colleagues had same experience with different server a short time later. City/province should review their license.

AMAZING!!. This place is amazing! Great food, great staff, great atmosphere. <br/>This is definitely my favorite place in the market! You get a great balance between the live bands that usually do rock covers and the dj's that play great tunes in between. <br/>You have your choice of going upstairs and being part of the crowd and dancefloor or staying downstairs and kicking back with your friends so it's great for groups of people who need a little of both. <br/>Yes, the bouncers used to power trip a little however they have had a really high turnover in door staff and this is definitely no longer an issue. Sometimes the line can be a little long but where is it not downtown, and they definitely move the line faster than Heart and Crown.

I just read all the reviews and I'm so shocked at the low opinion of Patty's! I love this place! I've been there for dinner, which was served quickly and quite good (not to mention ridiculously inexpensive). I also go there often later at night, and the atmosphere is great! Never had a problem with staff, music is always good, bands are great, and there's always a drinks special. Give Patty's another chance guys.

Not Irish - is crap. If you want to relax and have something good to eat - do not go to Patty Boland's on the market. <br/><br/>Nothing but bad food, dirty tables and rediculous security to intimidate anybody walking. I'm in my late 30s, and entertain work clients on the market - professionals who like to sit and have a pint and a good meal - this place is set up for 19 yr olds who don't know any better, not paying customer. <br/><br/>The menu is for the birds - and having spent much of my life in the UK, is more a no-thrills money-grab than a pub or restauraunt. I was embarrassed to bring our clients here.<br/><br/>Will never set foot there again.

Nightmare - 'roid raging bouncers. I want to second what some others on this site are saying about the completely out of their minds staff at this pub. Recently my fiance & I and 5 other friends went here to grab some dinner before what we planned to be a long/fun night out - it was like 8:45pm. While we waited for the waitress to come back to our take our orders - 2 of our friends started goofing off and they spilled a glass of water on the table. Nothing broken - no alcohol involved - like a third of a glass of water on the table, which we mopped up ourselves. Immediately 5 bouncers showed up at our table and told us that they didn't want us there any more and kicked us out. (we had been in the place maybe 15 minutes in total). First we laughed, then my fiance said something like "you've got to be kidding - this place sucks" which was the wrong thing to say because after that we were all marched through the restaurant with 5 bouncers surrounding us, shouting at us the whole way about our big mouths and how once we got out to the street they were going to kick our asses!! Did I mention that there were 4 girls in this group (whose asses I guess were going to get kicked as well) & THAT THERE WAS NO ALCOHOL INVOLVED AT ALL.... Lucky for us there were cops around the market that night because I really think they would have tried something with us if not!! I have never ever ever been treated so terribly by a restaurant in any city in my life before.

Bad experience.. I agree with the other comments posted. The staff are on a major ego trip. The one waitress was extremely rude to my friend when we were waiting in (the second line). It was not very busy in the restaurant, yet we were waiting in line outside for about 30+ minutues (although, of course, they try and get you to buy alcohol while you are waiting in line so they can still profit off of you). The cover was pretty expensive considering the experience. My friend simply asked the waitiress serving the customer's in the line-up outside why we had to wait outside for so long when it wasn't busy, and three huge bouncers came and bullied him in front of everyone. It was ridiculous. They are complete jerks with huge egos. It's dicusting. For an enjoyable night out with a kind and friendly staff, I would suggest heart and crown. Same kind of pub with a much friendlier staff. Believe me, you will be more willing to spend your money in a place with good customer service.

While this bar was never that bad (average food) apparently the night staff thinks pretty highly of themselves. Mandatory $7 coat check and of you want fresh air you can only go out with the smokers. The DJ seems to think it's still 1988. There are way better place to spend your time in the market

Not good, not bad. I was not impressed with Patty's at all. The bar staff have a huge ego and the food is not the greatest. Before deciding where to eat or go out, I would recommend walking right past this place and heading to the Heart and Crown.
