I had the jerk chicken poutine. I didn't like it at all. The spices (I think curry too) were too overpowering. Other than than would have been great.

Been around forever super friendly cashier. if you call in and pick up they will have the food ready. New parking infront or park around the corner to avoid a ticket! Open late and food portions and price are very fair. Ask for spice if you can handle it. Spice it up!

SPICY! But the good kinda spicy. My friend, who is an Ottawa local, recommended Island Flava for jerk chicken and boy, she did not disappoint! We ordered the jerk chicken dinner, extra side of plantains, and beef patties— everything was flavourful and decent sized portion of rice and peas! My only complaint is the side salad as I would’ve loved (the traditional) creamy coleslaw as a side. Overall, I’d highly recommend Island Flava for authentic Jamaican food!

If you want some mouthwatering chicken curry that will remind you of home, this is the place for you! I had the chicken curry roti and absolutely everything about it was comforting and felt like home. Highly recommend, they give you so much chicken too! I’m gonna let the pictures speak for itself because it’s sooo good.

Favourite place in ALL OF OTTAWA to get a jerk poutine. Honestly everything on their menu is sooo good they haven’t changed everything about their food is consistent they just keep getting better and better. The service is super warm and friendly makes you actually wanna leave Canada to go to Jamaica what I’m tryna say is it feels like home. Which is what you want when going to a Jamaican restaurant all these other places in ottawa can’t compare

Little place just off Rideau Street in Ottawa's downtown. The price is right, portions decent (not huge like in TO) and flavors are good. They shine in their rotis (both with jerk and curried chicken). The Jamaican patties (only beef, no veg or chicken) are also spot on!<br/><br/>A point less for not serving water in a glass and making people buy the bottled stuff ;)

Absolutely awful place! Their evening staff think it's acceptable to throw buckets of water on people outside their restaurant! I recommend everyone stay far away from Island Flava.

Small little place that doesn't look like much but the food will surprise you. Very good price for delicious food. Great place if you want to grab a quick bite and are looking for something a bit different.

Jerk Chicken Poutine. If you have not tried this poutine, you absolutely must. The flavours of the jerk chicken infuse with the gravy - so that you get a spicy gravy drizzeled over fresh cut fries that actually taste like potato (and not sad stringy bits of nothingness) with melted grated cheese. This place is such a hidden gem. I remember walking in randomly in first year uni, attracted by the possibility of quick easy food and of course, poutine with a bit of a twist. I was not disappointed and I recommend to anyone that hasn't to step out of their comfort zone and at least try!

Dont expect anything as far as service but the food is amazing. Vegetable roti is delicious!

This is a take out window with a few tables. So do not expect, a washroom, a license, table service, silverware or many of the other little things you take for granted when dining out - like a plate. HOWEVER, the food is good, consistent (forget the salad . . . do not take the little bit of salad seriously . . . it is barely food or decoration.) Goat curry/roti, Jerk chicken and fish - all really tasty - eat it up with some rice and pigeon peas with some plaintain on top washed down with a can of pop and be on your way with a smile on your face and a little fire in your tummy. Limited menu, but if you are in the downtown core and need a bit of jerk flavour you cane get it here.

West Indians may not be satisfied. The food here isn't that great. I ordered a chicken roti and was really disappointed by the lack of flavour. It tasted like the chicken had been watered down! On top of this, it doesn't even come with a side salad or plantain. I tried my friend's curry goat and it was better, though the portion was small. It came with plantain and rice, which were both good. <br/>Overall I'm not inclined to go back, which is a shame because I like supporting West Indian businesses in Ottawa.

A Bit Disappointing. Living in Kingston now it is difficult to get Caribbean food. Was in town for work staying in the Byward Market therefore took the opportunity to get some Jerk Chicken. For $10 you get Jerk Chicken, plantains, rice and peas and salad. The meat felt that it was at least 30% bone. I don't enjoy fighting with my food to separate the meat from the bones. Especially when the bones are in many small pieces. Also, there were only 2 plantains given in the meal. Two! At least 4 would be reasonable! Also, the salad should really be coleslaw. But it was just regular ole salad - I guess I should be happy that there was even dressing on it. I think Ottawa needs some lessons from their brothers and sisters in Toronto. Whereby the prices are good as well as the portion and selection of what they give you. In particular I like the Ritz and Garveys in Toronto. The food itself at Island Flava is good they just need to tweak it a bit. Coleslaw, better quality meat and more plaintains!

Regretful. I am most taken by the bad service i received by a guy with dread locks... the food lacked flavor, tasted horrible and was unpresentable, the atmosphere was unappealing and boring and very unwelcoming.<br/><br/>Its the most embarrassing place I've seen in my years of traveling attempting to sell itself as a caribbean restaurant.<br/>I would never go back .

Supper fare. I had the jerk chicken plate. It was a good bang for the buck. I felt it was authentic in the spicing of the chicken dish. For a small three table establishment, I would recommend it to anyone who likes caribbean food.
