Review Nectar Fine Teas - Ottawa

Food? Awesome. Tea? Awesome. Service? Awesome. Atmosphere? That’s where they lose their points. It’s dead quiet inside with no music at all and we can hear the employees and whatever is going on in the kitchen. Just one touch of music in the background would make this place so much better.

Absolutely one of the best experiences I've had in Ottawa. Please book a reservation for afternoon tea to get the full experience. The food and atmosphere are gorgeous and the staff are knowledgeable and very kind. I felt like a lady in Victorian England having a lovely tea time. I was truly transported; a magical, comforting, and warm couple hours!

My husband, little one and I went for the Afternoon tea last week. We thoroughly enjoyed our experience. You need to reserve at least 24hr in advance but, it was our only weekday off and a 'spur of the moment' thing and so we called in the morning to reserve for the same day and we're so glad the owner was able to accomodate! It is a beautiful little tea room, clean, cozy and inviting. The afternoon tea menu was delicious! From the tea-infused fruit cup, mini soup to the fresh hot scones, sandwiches and sweets, everything was marvelous! And, all that for a very fair price of about 23$/pers (it slightly increases depending on your choice of tea). The service was also incredible- both our waiter and tbe owner were very attentive and helpful. I highly recommend for when you want to unwind and enjoy the company of your loved ones! Looking forward to coming back!

Visited for Afternoon High Tea for Two. For $60 you're provided two pots of tea, two small cups of fruit salad, two tiny espresso-cups of soup and one standard 3 tier tray of sandwiches, scones, and sweets. Service was pleasant but the space is cramped and the fare undistinguished. Nothing exceptional. For half the price I instead recommend Billings Bridge National Historic Site: great tea, white table cloths, enough homemade food and dainties to feed a family of 5, plus the beautiful estate home and gardens, and ample free parking (open seasonally, but worth the wait).

The soup and fruit cup and scones were lovely, but the sandwiches were a bit of a loss. We had called ahead to confirm gluten free was an option & had made a couple requests re allergies that they seemed happy to accommodate. We confirmed the details several times beforehand so when we showed up and they had asked who the gluten free person was we assumed they had the rest of the allergy details on record. They didn't...and when we pointed out some sandwiches contained food she couldn't eat the waitress told us we 'should have said it at the beginning' and that we should trade sandwiches instead of offering to fix their mistake. Hard to trade sandwiches when only one of us had gluten free bread... The soup was really good though.

What a lovely gem in the neighbourhood. I dropped in for a minute and found myself surrounded by polished wood and gleaming silver canisters of tea. I got in a 20 minute chat with the owner and staff about herbs and regions. The owner was extremely knowledgeable and a breathe of fresh air to talk to. The tea presentation and testing was demonstrative and sense-oriented. I'll definitely be back, especially to try their full high tea (or afternoon tea). I wish I knew about this place when I first moved into the neighbourhood.

Simply outstanding in every way. Gourmet food, all made from Scratch - prepared and presented perfectly. Impressive range of highest quality speciality teas. No high tea experience in England came close to this one.

I've been going to Nectar Fine Teas for about 6 years now. They have a good collection of curated fine loose leaf teas. (I have their Earl Grey at work with me and everyone who passes by my office can be heard to say, "mmmm whose tea is that?!") Their high tea is simply my favourite in Ottawa. They are able to address the fact that I'm a vegetarian with fish and shellfish allergies while still allowing my friends to eat everything without killing me. (Always a bonus!). In addiition, I find them to be well priced, and classy without being pretentious. A winner.

The interior of the tea house is very cozy with only 4 tables that can sit 2 people it is important to make reservations for your afternoon tea.

For the first course of the afternoon tea, we were served a refreshing mint fruit bowl of honeydew, grapes, and kiwi. Next, there was soup, followed by scones, sandwiches and two small desserts.

I highly enjoyed my experience as the staff was very attentive and friendly. While this was my first time visiting I’ve heard the menu items are always the exact same for afternoon tea with the only slight change being there are a few types of soups they rotate between serving.

If you are looking for a leisurely way to spend the afternoon with a friend, Nectar Fine Teas offers one of the most affordable afternoon tea services in Ottawa.

Afternoon Tea. I have enjoyed afternoon tea at this fine location many times. The scones are my favourite: so fresh! so delicious! And oh the little fruit cup-melon balls are so refreshing. The little soup cup is just perfect. I bring all my friends and I highy recommend it. Look no further check Nectar Fine Tea for your next afternoon tea.
BC

Afternoon Tea. Our book club recently met at Nectar's. The staff were amazing, the tea list extensive (over 30 to choose from). We all loved the finger sandwiches, the melon ball appetizer, the mini scones. It was a fun experience that everyone should enjoy from time to time.

No tea for you!. Called this establishment to see if they carried a particular type of tea that I enjoy. They didn't, which was fine what I didn't appreciate was the attitude I got. I got a bit of a lecture on why they wouldn't carry that type of tea and I was a bit of an ignoramus for even suggesting that they might. She could have suggested where I might be able to buy it or apologized for not carrying it and suggested a good alternative, but no. I just got snobby condescension.

Fantastic!. I have been going to Nectar Fine Teas for a year now since moving to the city. I just love it and come often even though I don't live in this part of the city. The staff are all very friendly, helpful and respectful. The quality of the tea is exceptional. The food is delicious. I come to buy loose tea, and at other times come to eat, relax and enjoy some beautifully made tea. I highly recommend Nectar Fine Teas. In my opinion this is not to be missed in Ottawa.

Get off your high horses. My mother and I were looking for somewhere to have a quick lunch. She suggested this place and I didn't object. When we walked in, the servers' just ignored us so first we had to get their attention. When we did, they said they were pretty much fully booked but we could stay if we just wanted something quick (it's a very small place with few tables but there were only two that were taken). We sat down and the server brought us menus and said in an arrogant tone "And now that you've had a chance to sit down, you can think about leaving. I need this table at 1:50," and then she walked away. We found her treatment of us to be very rude and haughty. Speaking as someone who has experience in customer service, rule #1 is to never make your guests feel unwanted or an inconvenience to you. If it was that imperative for us to leave I don't know why she let us stay in the first place. Needless to say we didn't much feel like giving her our business after that so we went to "Thyme & Again" across the street instead.

I don't care how good their teas and scones may or may not be it's not worth it when the employees clearly don't care about you in the slightest. I'll stick with "David's Tea" thank you very much.

Great for special occasions but pricey. Great sandwiches, mediocre scones and desserts.

AMAZING. Had the best tea, with great service

Some unique teas.... A love place for loose leaf teas, with some varieties that I have not seen elsewhere in Ottawa before. One of the staple spots for replenishing the tea supplies at home.
