Great place! The prices are reasonable, the staff was friendly and the cupcakes are really, really good! I had the cookies and cream and the peanut butter chocolate and they were both good. Plus there's lots to choose from, so definitely worth returning too.
My favourite place in town! The food is as fresh as it can get and the service is incredible!! Love the chicken breast pita and oh my oh my, their loukoumadas....heavennnnnn! I fight for their chicken rice soup and I could sell my first-born for their lemon potatoes!!!
My wife her Dad and I are eating lunch at one of our favourite places, The Nutty Greek Bake Shop Inc when we decide to introduce him to Loukoumades for desert. We are always introducing him to new foods and wait for his reaction. His commentary was very favourable, but the line I got a kick out of was "I think this may be the best food I've ever tasted". Not a bad review from someone who's been around for almost 85 years.
Everything is fabulous. But I gotta admit, being able to walk up to the cash and do my best Bonnie Tyler singing "I need a hero!", is my favorite part ;-).
Never disappointed in the food, whether it is lunch or treats. Definitely one of my favorite places in Ottawa. Service is also great - bunch of lovely people working there :D
Love the place. Coffee is excellent, staff are friendly and approachable and the pastries are TO DIE FOR!!!!!
I can't get enough of the goodies from this shop. Best Loukoumades I have ever had are served up hot and made-to-order. The gyro's are killer, along with everything else offered on the menu. A stop at Nutty Greek is one of my favourite weekend treats!
We just got individual cheesecakes from them today for my Mother-in-laws birthday celebration. We had Oreo, Sour cherry and feta, dulce de leche, and baklava. Holy WOW! We actually all shared our plates biting into each cake exclaiming...oh this is good...ooh this one too....yummy!
Thank you. This is a repeat destination for sure!
Ps it also helps that the owners are super nice.
Fabulous bakery, friendly people and fantastic food - I'll be back!

Absolutely delish! Coming from Montreal where there are quite a few Greek bakeries. Let me just say how ecstatic I was to hear about the Nutty Greek! I just went the other day and the pastries are absolutely to die for! They also sell imported Greek coffee, honey, and oil. My boyfriend isn't a huge fan of super garlicky tzatziki , and theirs is just the way he likes it. You can taste the yogurt and cucumber. LOVE LOVE LOVE!
MUST TRIES: Pork souvlaki pita, lemon potatoes, galaktoboureko, and the almond cookies....drool =p
Visited your shop for the first time on Saturday and returned again today. Your food is absolutely delicious. Homemade goodness served with pride and love. Our lunch today - souvlaki sandwiches, kourabiedes, bougatsa and greek coffee. Heaven! Thanks Anna. We will be regulars. So worth the drive from Kanata. :) Beverley and Alex
Greek or not, best place to go in Ottawa if you wanna feel like your back in Greece. The girls that work the front area are awesome!
We and our guests LOVED our chocolate wedding cake with buttercream frosting! They made a simple looking cake so we could decorate it with real flowers, and it turned out delicious (moist rich homemade taste) and elegant. And also affordable. I highly recommend them!
We are proud to be considered "regulars" at the Nutty Greek Bake Shop! The loukamathes are incredible -- delectable hot balls of crunchy-on-the-outside-soft-on-the-inside deliciousness. The only tough part is choosing how to have them dressed. We are serious addicts of the iced coffees (freddo cappuccinos and espressos) and drink them all summer and winter! When you don't want to cook, call ahead and order dinner -- fresh salads, delicious wraps, warming soups, and cupcakes -- who could ask for anything more? If you're like me, why would you make a cake for any special occasion when you could order a much better one from Anna?! Best of all: the warmth and caring of this generous family infuse every aspect of their business.
Possibly the only Greek bakery in Ottawa (is it why it's called nutty? j.k.)!
Small, cheerful place on a forgotten corner in Centretown (the address is on Rochester, but the entrance on Beech st... go figure. More nuttiness?)
Now, for the food.... have only tried their sweet baked goods and these are rich, fresh and tasty. Not the cheapest place but good quality for the (medium) price.
Coffee is good and service is friendly & efficient.
Will be back!
Great place! The prices are reasonable, the staff was friendly and the cupcakes are really, really good! I had the cookies and cream and the peanut butter chocolate and they were both good. Plus there's lots to choose from, so definitely worth returning too.
This place is awesome. It's a quaint little joint tucked away from busy Preston St, but it should definitely not be ignored!
Their loukoumades are to DIE for; soft and pillowy with a nice crisp outside. I tried both the traditional honey coated ones, but also a cinnamon sugar version that they had (think beavertails). Both are delicious, I would come back here just for these.
I also got some baklava, which was fresh and so fragrant. It wasn't too sweet like some other baklava that you might've tried and most definitely made in house each day.
Great service, great food, most definitely worth a visit
Good place for quick tasty bites. Both Gyro and Chicken Souvliaki were fresh and tasty....good portion of meat added. Great selection of desserts including bougatsa. Staff were pleasant and business continues to improve. We will be back.
Fresh, tasty and friendly. Wonderful place and hidden gem that everyone should try!
Great gyro pita - consisting of tasty gyro meat, fresh vegetables, delicious tzatziki served on a warm and moist pita bread. A hearty and light tasting sandwich that doesn't leave you disappointed!
Go for the greek village salad, it consists of another fantastic combination of tomatoes, olives, green/red peppers, cucumbers and a perfect mixture of crumbled feta, olive oil and oregano. A meal on itself that is both refreshing and appetizing.
Soups are varied throughout the weekdays, some hit and miss which range from creamy chicken, tomato basil to leek and potato. Some decent but not all of them are great.
Now onto the best part of the place and most underrated food item on their menu...their Loukoumades - aka Honeyballs. Basically a greek version of Timbits on steroids. Order a batch fresh and eat right away and the learn that one bite of these can brighten up your day. I offered one to my friend at the office, at first reluctant to try something different but after one bite, the words out of his mouth were...'eating one of these is like an orgasm in your mouth'. 'Nuff said.
Desserts - well just decadent but you have to join a gym to work out if you want to try all the varieties without blowing up the belly.
Hidden Gem. This is one of my Favorite places to grab lunch or a early dinner in Little Italy. They have the Best Gyros in town. My only complaint, being someone who lives very close, would be that they are not open late enough (open till 7).
Love This Bake Shop!. Delicious fresh pita wraps! Order it with extra tzatziki. It's homemade and the world's best...they should seriously consider bottling it! Couple it with an extremely fresh salad - I personally enjoy the Village salad - and you have a full meal. But save room for the "Greek Honey Balls" - Loukoumades. Order a batch early as they are made fresh and to order. Finish the meal with a truly unique coffee...try the Fredo Cappuccino - it is quite a pretty drink!
Great food nice and fresh. Always a great choice I've tried most of the menu all tastes great. Highly recommend!!
Delicious Everything and Friendly Service. My boyfriend and I live very close and go there at least once a week. Everything we have tried on their menu is amazing. Their gyros and pita wraps are tasty with a generous amount of meat. Their desserts, which are homemade, are absolutely delicious, from their cheesecakes, cupcakes, baklava, to their biscotti, you will be glad you didn't skip on the dessert. Had their hot chocolate for the first time and it was perfect, they make it with ghidelli (spelling?) chocolate, and it was yummy. Also, if you like iced coffee, they have an amazing iced frappe coffee which is made with Greek coffee, you will be amazed. There are two younger female staff who are delightful. We absolutely love coming here and look forward to trying everything on their menu.
What an amazing experience!!!. We traveled down to Little Italy it experience a bit of Greece... We had heard from a mutual friend that a Little Greek bakery had opened that was servicing up the most outstanding Baklava ever... Well we didn't find just baklava, we found the most amazing smooth tasting cheesecake ever... My husband tried the Feta Cheese Cheesecake with sour cherry and I had the Baklava Cheesecake... You heard me right!!! Baklava Cheesecake with the rich taste of honey and the crunch of walnuts and almonds...
We are already planning what we are having for our next visit...
Great treats. Fresh food, good service, decent prices. Their Loukoumades are very addictive.
Simply Fabulous. If you're craving sweet and/or savory, this is the place. From a perfectly made and tasty fresh gyro to the range of Greek desserts, including a Backlava Cheesecake, this is it! I stopped in again last week just after the lunch rush. My Chicken wrap was made fresh and this time I opted for the Greek Quinoa salad instead of the cheesecake! ;) Great salad! Great Lunch!
Thoroughly unique, thoroughly delish. I just ate a gyro and what I affectionately call a "galactic burrito" from NGBS (although perhaps galactic, they aren't actually burritos. See: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Galaktoboureko). Both were delicious, as they always are, and indeed as everything is at NGBS. Their pastries and delicious wrapped meats never fail me, and they all come at quite reasonable prices. The service is personable and knowledgeable, while the premises are clean and well-kept. I like that you can sit in and enjoy your food, or take it to go. I also highly recommend the spicy sausage rolls, and appropriately big fat Greek-sized baklava. Just don't order a donair here -- I'm pretty sure donair is Turkish and I'm also pretty sure there's some kind of long lasting beef between Turks and Greeks... So... yeah...
Elegant cakes. Having taste tested cupcakes at several bakeries, we settled on Nutty Greek Bake Shop to order a special birthday cake for a friend. The citron (lemon + orange) cake was delightful - not too sweet, filled with lemon curd, iced with a pale lemon buttercream icing with flakes of white chocolate on the sides, and topped by petit red marzipan flowers. Very elegant! The birthday girl and our other guests were very impressed!
Moreover, the 2 sisters behind the counter (one of whom was the baker) were very personable.
We're looking forward to sampling their Greek baked goods.
Great place. Ottawa needs more bakeries like this! Amazing selection of authentic Greek deserts.
Nutty delicious treats that melt in your mouth. I can hardly go a day without them. Vanilla Kadaifi is a must try, baklava, and assorted authentic cheesakes. Many options for "on the go" lunch, with fast service. With great Greek music, food and a loving family service, Nutty Greek is a delicious family experience.
Absolutely fantastic! The desserts here are exceptional.... Very fresh, high quality and nicely presented. The prices are very reasonable with most desserts around 4-5 for a very large portion. A friend of mine lived in Greece for a few years and said that the dessert are very authentic. I have been here a few times and plan to keep returning! The baklava is the best I have had by far. You will not be disappointed...
Great name, great taste..... A little gem in the heart of the NRCan complex. Great desserts, fresh lunches and just plain lovely owners. A terrific addition to Ottawa's foodie scene. No need to travel to Montreal for the real thing. Sour cherry cheesecake superb, along with cookies that tempt the office afternoon.
Excellent Gyros and Pitas. My husband and I have been searching for a decent gyro/pita place since we came home from Greece last summer---we have finally found it! We went to the Nutty Greek Bake Shop for lunch and we've decided that it is as good as some of the pitas we had in Greece. The pita bread was sooooo delicious and the ingredients were very fresh. All in all, we will definitely go back!
Great to have Greek option in Little Italy. Sunny, super friendly and everything fresh !!
The folks here prepare some great lunch and snack treats.
The greek cheese pies are tasty filling and full of flavour.
The sausage rolls a real nice surprise.. Choice of spicy or regular sausage, not greasy and the filo is terrific.
My office mates thought the Baklava was the best they have ever enjoyed when I treated them.
The coffee, decor, service all excellent.
It's great to have the Greek option now in Little Italy.
Can you say fresh? On my way to work I Droped by for a coffee. On my lunch break I went back seeing they had fresh wraps and salads. Love at first bite! Fresh ingredients you can never go wrong. I ordered honey balls which I crave almost every day now. Great spot!
Wow No growing pains here. Awesome right out of the gate . The place is spot on Gorgeous! The gyro was so fresh soon to be a favorite too all :)
Yesterday afternoon I was looking for a delicious mid afternoon snack. While in the area I found the Nutty Greek Bake Shop ( 490 Rochester Street, Ottawa ). Upon entering the shop just down the street from Beech Street Burger , I notice the tidy bakery with a friendly person behind the counter welcoming me with a smile. Being three o'clock the lunch rush was well past so there was time to chat. Turned out I was being served by the owner, Anna. I inquired as to what type of teas she offered. She went through about eight different types, but the first or second stuck in my head, Morrocan Mint. Of course there had to be something to nibble on if a true afternoon tea was going to be had. I gazed through the all the tempting temptations in the display case. Hmmm...so many choices.... the carrot cake style cupcake with the swirl of frosting on the top caught my eye. Something about it just made me salivate. The Order : 1 Large Morrocan Mint Tea and a Carrot Cake Muffin. Anna poured the
Great bakery along Beech. Everything we ordered was great and you can't really go wrong with any choices. Great value and definitely worth a try if you are in the Dow's lake area.
I didn’t personally come to the shop and didn’t even know about it until a buddy brought some pastries to a potluck we went to. Wow, they were good. I had a but it a few and they were all great ! Just based on the few kinds i had, I would make it a point to go.
Tried the Nutty Greek Bake Shop for the first time today and was blown away by the food and the service! The owner Anna is just lovely and the loukoumades were the best I’ve ever had. Highly recommend!
The best Chicken Gyro I’ve ever had in Ottawa. The chicken is wonderfully marinated, quality white meat and great portions. Fresh veggies and just the right amount of tzatziki with an amazing flavour.
They also have awesome cookies!
Amazing food and desserts. I had a sandwich and some biscotti cookies (orange and chocolate chip). The owners were very social and kind, made us feel welcome. Can’t wait to go again!
Great food, great service. This little gem is unfortunately closed on Sunday/Monday but if you're in the area make sure to drop by, it's affordable and a single trip should turn you into a regular.
We just moved into the neighborhood and this was our first stop. Everything was incredible (wife and i had a huge feast!). Chicken wrap for $6.99, the value was incredible and most important it was delicious (and healthy!). You have to try the "Tiropita", it was our first time and not our last! Pita breads and dip were some of the best we have had, the carrot muffin was incredible (that frosting!), and my god the Greek donuts (Loukoumades)...i can't even start to explain how amazing they are - crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. Did i mention those donuts? You would be crazy not to get them. The owner Anna is really nice and made our evening (and the donuts!)
Wow! Real great Greek food. Great sized portions for the price point. I had a grilled Chicken Pita wrap. it had huge slickes of chicken inside! Had a few desserts cookies and snickerdoodles. All were fresh!
