Went for Valentine's day dinner. They had a special menu. Had the rack of lamb and it was delicious. Hubby had the jambalaya. It was delicious and spicy. Not the first there. Service was great. Wine selection is great. Awesome desserts!!!
Always a good meal here and excellent friendly service. Good atmosphere.
The appetizer menu rocks!! Perfect for a late evening snack with a glass of wine. Lovely stuff!
Excellent omelette and loved the dressing that was used in the salad. Waitstaff and bartender were very accommodating as I was traveling that day.
Love the Sunday brunch, the menu is always full of tempting dishes. And the mimosas rock!
I and a friend had a lovely meal at Von's, sharing a number of dishes. We started with the Mushroom Bruschetta which was wonderfully flavourful, then we shared the Kale salad, again, delicious, followed by a scallop and noodle dish, finished with the lemon tart. It was all delicious, fresh and nicely presented. It is nice to know that there is such consistency at the restaurant and that, combined with friendly service, it is a pleasant place for a meal any time of the day.
Went here early Friday for dinner with friends. Had the jambalaya which was good. The shrimp was big but chewy. The sausage was spicy which I love. Gnocchi was heavy but the flavor was good. The risotto looked too thick but my friend loved it. Another dish was the lasagna that was enjoyed as well. The playing of the burger was quite nice. Our server was friendly but as it was getting busy she wasn't as attentive. Don't have the white sangria. This time of year the mom is not sweet so gives the sangria a weird flavor.
Came here for brunch with my boyfriend. No wait on a Sunday around noon. Even the patio was mostly free! He got a classic breakfast platter, I got the three cheese omelet. The food was not bad but not great. Would have liked a bigger portion of side salad and properly buttered toast. There is a parking garage available for patrons.
Beware if you have nut allergies. While the food and atmosphere is quite nice, the ingredient list of my dish was incomplete. I only have a mild reaction to a few types of nuts, so I usually don't think to ask if something is nut free if there are no nuts listed. The squash cannelloni has walnuts on it. I'm sure it will go very nicely with the food, but there is definitely enough nut constant to warrant adding it as an ingredient. The waitress didn't handle it very well. Not really an apology. "so what do you want me to do about it?" in an appropt tone. I sort of felt like I was being an inconvenience to her, for ordering a food that didn't at all indicate that it would be covered in walnuts.
Never the less, other than a waitress who might have been tired after a busy day (great glebe garage sale), and surprise walnuts, the rest of my group really enjoyed their food. It has become a favorite of the group.
Consistently fantastic. I've been to Von's a quite a few times recently and am consistently beyond satisfied. The food is amazing and very well priced. The restaurant has character and the servers are very friendly. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend or bring others to Von's, in fact I have been.
Delicious. Pasta was great (Butternut Squash Cannelloni, and Tuscan Bean Ravioli), I liked the paintings on the walls of the regular customers, and the service was great (our waiter was friendly and chatted with us)! Would definitely go back. I heard their brunch is amazing.
Good value and pleasant atmosphere. Having recently opened a business in the Glebe my partner and I have been looking for a go-to sit down lunch joint. Von's hits the mark in many ways.
First, the decor is quite lovely. Bright and warm and professional looking.
I think the food offers tremendous value. Where else can you pay $9 to $12 per entree for lunch. McDonalds is not far off.
I LOVE their burgers. And of course their fries are out of this world.
For breakfast... their isn't a crappy pub on Bank St. that will do a Benny for less than $13.50. And Von's is good.
Other lunch items are good... wraps, salads, okay... not spectacular but seriously it was $9 in a lovely room.
Service is pretty good. A bit quiet and reserved for my liking but maybe that's the way they like it.
Mediocre. Good concepts of dishes and flavour parings but I don't think the food was quite executed properly either something is overcooked but their food is mainly undercooked. The service wasn't great.
Excellent brunch! Perfect eggs and good pricing! Very French bistro and good service! We will be back
Our favourite brunch in Ottawa. My wife and I have been going to Von's for brunch over the past four years. We only go 4 or 5 times a year, but we always enjoy it. We almost always take our daughter (now 2) and the service is very accomodating and polite. Though I find the menu a bit limiting, everything is good. The eggs beeny is excellent. The lunch items are also good. I've been for dinner a couple of times and it is always excellent. Dessert is a must have.
Great value and delicious food!. Went for lunch today with some colleagues. Really nice atmosphere, great food and reasonable prices. The staff was very pleasant. All in all, a great experience. Will be adding this to my plan B list!
We celebrated our son's 25th birthday dinner at Von's this week. It was our first time at Von's and we all agreed we would be back! There were 6 of us and we ordered a variety of appetizer and main dishes. All were excellent! fresh ingredients, good portion size and
Loved it! Great atmosphere and friendly staff. Our whole party had the "moules et frites" (mussels and fries). Everyone tried a different broth for their mussels - all were excellent. Frites were hand cut and just like you get at a European bistro - served with mayo. Lots of other yummy-looking items on the menu; can't wait to go back and try them.
The food was delicious! A little cramped but it was entirely enjoyable. Eggs benedict with toupie ham "was the best Benny I've ever had" according to 8-yr old son.
Great Brunch. Been taking brunch here for a few years. Great atmosphere and patio. Highly recomended.
Last Friday I had the afternoon off so I decided to go into the glebe and have lunch at Von's. Quite often we'll go for breakfast and I always get the same thing, Potato Pancakes with Smoked Salmon and Poached Eggs. I love it. And I love the fact they b
