Review The Wellington Diner - Ottawa

Adam Rivard
Great meal, we got a seat inside very quickly on a Sunday morning. The staff was friendly and fast considering how busy it was. The menu is pretty large and unique. If you like traditional American diner with a twist check it out.

I ordered the classic club and the portions are HUGE!! So delicious and lovely atmosphere in the restaurant itself. Definitely coming here again soon <3

Love this place. Fantastic service, best gluten free sandwhich I've ever had! Will keep going back

Classic diner vibes that offers breakfast day. Large selection and bigger portions. The 6 Shooter Hash is a great option for a hangover or a person with a huge appetite. It surely delivered on flavor.

We arrived for lunch and ate at the patio. Very attractive patio, comfortable seating and for being on Wellington Street, relatively quiet. Excellent servers.....fast and efficient and very nice! We all enjoyed our meals - burger, fish and chips and classic club! Very extensive menu! Nice variety!!

Food is great. Coffee is above average. Waiters are friendly and helpful. However, they need to reduce the volume of the music, it's way too loud especially if you sit near a speaker. Will change my review to a five stars if I notice some changes.

I had a wonderful Saturday brunch here with my daughter and her fiancé. We were seated on the patio which has lovely shade trees which coupled with a pleasant breeze made for a great dining atmosphere. I had the eggs Benny with a side of sausage and a truly delicious mimosa. A perfect experience for my first visit.

Ohhh l love their omlette and big Latte. Their food tastes amazing 😋 and staff is friendly.

Go out of business already. Racist and no sense of remorse. What a pathetic establishment. They delete and block everyone who talks against them. Get fucked.

The Wellington Diner is the ugly face of Bigotry and Racism in Ottawa. The owner, Jeff Frost, used his diner menu board to make disgusting comments targeting the Muslim community (see enclosed picture). Is it really the type of place where you want to spend your hard earned money? A restaurant should be a place where everyone can feel welcome, not a place where people are targeted based on their personal beliefs! So please save your time and enjoy a more respectable place instead. There is plenty of nicer food options in that area ;)

I was really disappointed when visiting this place, the food was mediocre at best and the staff was less than courteous. I will not be back!

The Wellington Diner is an overall pretty average diner. The decor is probably the only thing that really stands out about it. The first time I went, the food was great and the staff was attentive. Unfortunately, the most recent time I went, the food was so-so, the wings were actually quite bad and my milkshake seemed to only be half mixed. The staff was mostly inattentive, as they seemed to be dealing with some sort of inspection. Regardless, I'd probably go back again, but I'm in no rush.

Went for breakfast and was surprised at how many choices there was for a diner. We had to wait a while to be seated (30 min) but once seated coffee came quickly as did food once ordered. Service was good and prices are real reasonnable. The place is open 24h which is nice. The breakfasts are good, tasty but the pancake was a little disapointing. Great experience overall for breakfast. Would recommend

Such good food in a cute diner like building. Great atmosphere. The food was fast, delicious and not your typical choices (unless you wanted the classic you could get it). An array of Eggs Benedict with a twist. Fantastic food for low prices and good quantity (I always have leftovers for the next day).

Was always the breakfast to go place. Their breakfast special is cheap and filling. There is also unique menu items like green eggs and ham. Can get busy tho.

The Wellington Diner is aways a great choice for burger or mac and cheese. My partner and I have tried almost every burger and we are always satisfied! The service is friendly and pretty quick. The only negative thing I have to say is that I find that their strawberry flavored desserts tastes too much like fake strawberries so it isn't super great. However overall it is a go to place for sure!
Generically Honest
Went here for Sunday lunch. Definetly will be coming back. The place was super packed but for a group of 3 it was only a 10 minute wait. I got their burger with 2 grilled cheese sandwiches as buns. It was extremely filling. The only downside was that the burger was over cooked but I wasn't surprised as the kitchen was super overwhelmed. Worth checking out if you're a group or 4 or less.

Love this place! Their breakfasts are always amazing, great service and the owner is a great guy who really cares about everyone who walks in! Their hash bowls are to die for

Friendly staff and good food with some nice creativity in the menu and vegan options - even at breakfast! It gets quite busy though so either go off hours or be ready for a wait.

I love this place! Each time I go my food is always fresh and tasty and the service is always great! I've tried a few different dishes and they are all yummy. I always leave here happy and full.

Went for the second time for breakfast. The food is good. Large portions and rich in taste. The service however was lacking. Our food took 50 minutes to arrive after ordering. We noted that all the tables around us had received their food despite being seated after we ordered. When we politely inquired to make sure our order wasn't missed we were rudely told that their food takes longer than normal and next time we shouldn't attend if we were in a hurry. Not impressed.

Overall good experience. The staff was friendly and fast to fill up our coffee cups. Had the eggs Benedict with home fries and it was really tasty!

The food is good and fresh. We enjoy a club sandwich breakfast. Well presented , hot,the service was very good effective and polite. The place is clean.

I was looking to try a new breakfast place and read a couple of good reviews for this place. I walked in on Mother's Day and was seated immediately at the breakfast bar. The server recommended the eggs benedict with lobster, spinach, cheddar and bacon. I went with it and I was seriously pleased with the recommendation. The flavours blended perfectly with each other and the homefries gently spiced. The owner was personable and the waitress friendly and attentive. I will definitely be back, but next time I'm bringing friends.

I have been here 1 time but i will be returning very soon! friendly staff and welcoming atmosphere. I have children and even they as picky as they are enjoyed the experience!

This was our first (and last) experience at the Wellington Diner. I went with my 4 year old and asked if we could order for takeout and were told we could. We looked through the menu and when we were ready to order, i told the waiter that we had a groupon. His face changed and he seemed annoyed. He informed us that we couldn't order from the child's menu with a groupon, to which I replied that we weren't planning to, that we were ordering 2 adult meals. He then told us that to use the groupon, 2 adults needed to be present. Since my boyfriend had dropped us off (he went to buy live shrimp for an aquarium and was picking us up 15 minutes later on the way back home) I told the waiter that he could come in if he needed to when he got back.

The waiter then became angry and told me that we couldn't use the groupon for takeout. He asked why we wouldn't eat there. I explained about the shrimp situation (and specifically that they need to stay warm so we were kind of rushing to get home so that we could put them into the tank). The waiter laughed (but in a sort of 'at me - not with me' way), then said that since the owner wasn't there that there was nothing they could do, they couldn't make an exception.

I pulled up the groupon and showed it to him, it didn't say anything about dining in or takeout. He shook his head and didn't look at the groupon, and said that it was always that way with groupons, their rule, nothing to do with the restaurant.

I ask if i could call the owner to see if he could make an exception. The waiter went and got me the number, as i was dialing, he snatched back the card with the number on it and went to talk to his co-worker. Then he returned and gave me the card back and told me to go ahead. I dialled the number and a waitress answered. She was standing a few feet from me and was very angry at me for calling from within the restaurant. As I was apologizing and trying to explain that the waiter had told me this was the owner's number she said (very loudly) "HANGING UP!".

The waiter snickered and then handed me a different number saying he had made a mistake. I called the new number and a man answered and said he was the owner. I asked if there was any way that we could get takeout and still use our groupon and he informed me that the restaurant doesn't do takeout. I politely told him that I had asked when I arrived and was told it was no problem. He then said that yes, they will do takeout but not for a groupon, that it was a groupon rule and he couldn't make an exception. He asked why i wanted to order takeout. I explained about the shrimp again and he cut me off. He said there was just no way around it, since it was a groupon rule. I asked if we could order for there and then ask for doggy bags for the whole meal. He said that yes, we could definitely do that. "Finally!", I thought, "good stuff!" I started to thank him and then he cut me off - he had only been being sarcastic when he had said yes! He began speaking very loudly and agressively (shouting, some would say). He said "HOW ABOUT YOU JUST CALL GROUPON AND TELL THEM THAT WE WOULDN'T LET YOU TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THIS RESTAURANT!" Then he hung up.

My daughter and I stood up to leave (don't worry, we did eat eventually!). She asked why we didn't have food and I replied (in an immature tone, I'll admit - it was not my finest moment) that they just wouldn't give it to us. I mumbled something about writing a bad review. (Outside I explained what a review was - so some learning - highlight!)

On our way out, the girl waitress who was still angry that I had accidentally phoned the restaurant (or perhaps was angry for other reasons, who knows) stopped us and asked us what the owner had said. Since we were leaving I can only assume that she was apt enough to have already gathered that he had told me that I couldn't use our groupon. I told her about what he had said and all of the other waiters gathered around and started to laugh. Laugh at me? Laugh at the owner? I don't know. Then the (now quite hostile) girl said that it wasn't their fault, that groupon makes the rules. I rolled my eyes and said "Ya right, I'm sure they would find out." As we were walking out, she yelled "Oh yes they would! They call people!". Yikes.

So I called groupon, and guess what? They don't impose rules such as "no takeout", the only time there is a rule about takeout, it is at the restaurant's request and they must put in the fine print on the groupon. Maybe the owner forgot to do this. Maybe the owner regretted doing a groupon. Groupon reimbursed me as that is their policy when a merchant does not honour a voucher. They said they were going to contact the Wellington Diner and make sure they understand that there is no rule about takeout.

I've never had an experience like this at any other restaurant. Nothing even close. I don't know if the food is good or not and I'll never be back to find out. The staff were all very condescending, unprofessional and rude. The owner was... Terrible.
Alyssa
Been here a couple of times, always satisfied. Most recently, I went in the afternoon when it wasn't busy, still was a nice atmosphere. Got the breakfast poutine and it was delicious. The staff were all very nice and friendly.

Went out for brunch this morning with my mother and toddler. We were seated after 15min. on the second floor on the side of the mezzanine. The hostess seated us and placed the booster seat for my son.
I ordered the special, belgian waffle with berries and they were discusting. My mother ordered a moka coffee and received a cold cappucino.

In the middle of our meal, a man who looked like the manager came up behind my mom and loudly told me to move my son NOW, I said yes and he repeated again. Everybody around us stopped eating and talking. It was soo humiliating. I assume my son might of dropped blueberris off the mezzanine, we dont know he only yeld and walked away. I was soo upset I didnt finish my meal and my son didnt understand what was happening.

I will never return to this restaurants !

Went with a groupon last week. We were two people who arrived on a Monday night where the restaurant wasnt too busy, We were seating, but waited about 15-20 minutes before being greeted by the server. During this time, another table was seated beside us and was almost greeted immediately. The other table had their order taken first despite us sitting right beside them and were clearly waiting for a while. They also received their food a good 20 minutes before us. We had only ordered two burgers..

All in all, the food was good but the service was terrible. May try this diner again but Im not too sure.

Looked up on sites and found a nearby restaurant for brunch. The website seemed to suit our needs but upon reaching it was closed for renovation.

Went up to this Diner for brunch. Seemed quite busy, and we were seated in about 10 minutes.

Lots of Uber Eats drivers picking up food.

Between the four of us we ordered a scrambled with toast and home fries, but replaced the eggs with Tofu for about $2 extra - not worth extra for sure and overall the dish lacked any flavour. In our opinion it should be a discount not extra for the amount of tofu replaced. And even than probably not worth. The "Green Onion Homies" are nothing but home fries with a few chopped green onions on top the potatoes were the frozen kind. Fancy name but nothing new in your palate. Only one slice of bread-because it was Rye?

We ordered # 1 Omelette which was very good. The Brie came up nicely

We also ordered a off the menu item called Grilled Cheese with Benedict with chipotle hollandaise rather than the regular. This dish was good but the chipotle holly was below average

We ordered a traditional breakfast with no meat and was surprised with the quantity of eggs. Did not seem 2 eggs at all. May be one. The fries hardly any and just one slice of toast-perhaps I ordered a whole wheat?

And finally breakfast poutine. Which was good. The coffee was good, but had to ask for seconds and that's it. Shouldn't they come asking if we needed more?

Little less than $90 for a breakfast for four. Quite expensive for my budget and not sure if I would return back.

This diner was recommended so I gave it a shot with 2 buddies. We arrived for lunch around 1 pm. The last thing I noticed from the menu was the chicken pot pie with a biscuit topping, at $14 expensive, but bet it would be good!! Our waitress asked if we wanted onion rings in place of fries, so we took her up on that suggestion.

The plates arrived and I received a huge portion of chicken in white sauce topped with a massive biscuit; oh and the onion rings. The first thing I noticed was that the chicken was cold. I ate then a piece of biscuit and that was bland, tasted like a puck may do.. The chicken sauce was gooey and had the taste, I would imagine, of wallpaper glue. In actual fact the chicken sauce tasted like a very flour tasting rue and nothing more. I stabbed in to the sauce again and came upon something hard and tough that was no match for the fork. It ended up being a huge slice of raw carrot. That was it for me. There was no way I was eating any of this. I placed my fork down and ate the few onion rings.

Eventually the waitress approached asking if everything was acceptable. i responded that my chicken pot pie was terrible and there was no way I could eat it and that it was cold. She thought I was joking, I guess everyone loves the food there (not), but I eventually convinced her I was deadly serious. She went away and had a talk with another employee and they both returned to the table and starred from afar. They left and eventually the waitress returned asking if I would like something else. No thanks I replied. I am not a fan of spit in my food as we all fear that if one complains about our food that it will be returned or replaced with some additional DNA in it and I know better than that. I was then asked if I wanted a discount. A discount really and not an offer that I need not pay for a meal I did not eat and that was a disgrace to their establishment. The bills arrived and I had been charged an additional $1.99 for an upgrade to the onion rings when this was not disclosed by the waitress. We all had to fork out an additional $2 without being informed of this upgrade. My discount was a paltry $4.45 and my bill came to $15.23. For the first time in my life I never left a tip and left feeling angry for such bad service.

I was informed that there was nothing more they could do as the owner was not there they apologised. There was no one there with any authority to make any decision and that seemed to make it OK. There was no offer to take my name and number and have the owner contact me to make this right.

Now I have been to many other establishments previously and someone at the table had found, for instance, a small piece of metal in the meatloaf. The manager came over immediately and apologised profusely and then assured us that none of us at the table had to worry about paying for their meal and that he hoped to see us again.

The Wellington Diner - what a joke. I will never return, I will never recommend it and I am going to the effort of writing this review, that is about as strongly as I can put it.

It is always an amazing experience! Service is fast, genuine, and very friendly. I could talk for hours about the wonderful dishes since the menu is so expansive. Breakfast prices are very reasonable and so tasty, I recommend the Mother Clubber (the gluten free bread is super tasty). My lunch go to is the Blackened Steak Salad which is a fresh wonderful array of flavours. The California Club is an awesome lunch time or dinner option. Lastly, must try the Rueben... Super flavourful and really an awesome comfort food meal.

Went for the first time since the change in ownership that happened this past spring. Awesome service, awesome coffee, awesome Caesar, and awesome food. For some reason, smoked salmon and bagel plates are hard to find in Ottawa, and I was pleased to find a great one here! Can't wait to return to try the pulled pork shepherd's pie or one of the mac n cheeses!

Went here this Sunday for a late brunch, has heard about this place from a friend. Food was delicious, cooked excellently and served quickly, also the waitress was nice. I would definitely recommend it and will surely go back.

Only went here once and was not impressed. I had a Montreal smoked meat sandwich and it was pretty disappointing. The meat was low quality and chewy, the bread soggy, and the salad bland. The atmosphere is cozy and it's definitely affordable, but you really get what you pay for.

Brunch/breakfast rating. The peeps at ESD can make a breakfast and Wellington Diner does it well. Had the Californian Eggs Benny- must try. Avocado on with eggs is always good. Not a fan of the blueberry pancakes, still searching for a Ada's replacement. Still just not the same with out those two around.

Messy meatball masterpiece!. I recently sat down to the Messy meatball sandwich! All I want to say is that I will be coming back again and again to enjoy this piece of art! Deliciousness!

Off the charts!. This diner in Westboro is OFF THE CHARTS for breakfast and lunch diner foods and service. The new owner has got something happening here so hats off to him.

Coming back again to try the smoked meat grilled cheese sandwich delight !!

Awesome place! Highly recommend!. I recently visited the Wellington Diner for dinner and was impressed with my experience. The server was sweet, attentive and she had a solid knowledge of the menu (it's large; something for everyone).

I had the Rueben sandwich with fries and coleslaw. The place was busy and my meal arrived fast, hot and was well put together. Not a typical coleslaw fan and yet cleaned my plate of their house 'slaw. I left full and got what I paid for.

I'm looking forward to my next visit.

First Wellington Diner experience.. From the moment I walked in the staff was fresh and lively. Once seated quite quickly I ordered myself The Californian Benedict one of my personal favourites, and it arrived just how I was expecting. Seasoned and smooth with a warm hollandaise, a perfectly easy poached egg, and nicely seasoned homies. Finishing it all off with a hot coffee and a good price I was able to be on my way quickly. Over all a good experience and I will definitely be back shortly.

Weekly Tradition for Breakfast with the family. I can only review based on breakfast, despite being a full out resto. Breakfast at the Wellington Diner:

-friendly, charming staff and room.
-sippy cups for babies and toddlers!
-Plenty of selection, from greasy to light - adifferent eggs benedict all the time.
-Fresh flavours, fresh smoothies.
-accomodating: quite willing to swap homefries for something healthier. I always get the salad with their hair on your chest garlic dressing to complement the benedict of the day.

-kind suggestiong: The coffee is blah. not sure what is in use, but it is lacking.

Ive tried the breakfast places in WW and Westoboro, and this is the absolute best mix of price, quality, and atmosphere.

Mac n Cheese Carbonarra to the Max. This Mac n Cheese blew me away and best I have ever had. The top has a crispy crunchy cheesy au gratin crust. All the Macs are made to order and are not the regular to be found elsewhere. This quality diner has plenty of other specialties like all their Benny's especially their California kid. Other notables are the Lobster Poutine, Breakfast Poutine, House made Meatloaf, Grilled Cheese Sandwiches, Cob Salad, Green Eggs and Ham and The Mother Clubbers with Avocado on Rideau bakery egg bread. This little diner "that could" is serving up family food at family prices. It's iconic 50's decor, it's historical Ottawa photos and warm caring sociable staff make for a great ambiance. The kitchen meets and supercedes all expectations. Glad to make this my new hangout.

Breakfast is decent but their coffee is so bland and watered down.

Friendly Service. Nice brightly light room to read the paper and have a standard breakfast your way. Coffee is ok but again its a dinner. The place reminds me of a throw back diner and I like that. It is cheap and it delivers.

Avoid at all Costs. My wife, son and I recently went for lunch and were incredibly disappointed by the food, service and price. Will definitely not be returning. There are plenty of other great diners and restaurants in Westboro far more deserving of your time and money.

We went for breakfast on Father's Day, it was a first for all six of us and it will not be the last! The service was awesome from the minute we stepped in. Coffee was free flowing, never saw the bottom of my cup. Food was delicious, pulled pork omelette was a hit with me and all six of us were pleased with our breakfast! ;)))

A go-to for brunch. Have been going to the diner for over a year, every couple of months or so.
My fiance and I like the price and consistency of the food. The wait for a table during the weekend brunch rush is not too long (never more than 15min wait). I normally get the Californian Kid Eggs Benedict (chipotle hollandaise sauce over traditional eggs benny but with avocado) and my fiance gets the french toast. Always a crowd pleaser and sometimes I get the daily smoothie too!
Momo
Food was decent, service was so so... Green onions on the potatoes is a refreshing touch. Hollandaise sauce was 7/10, could have used more!

Went for Breakfast because we couldn't get into John's Diner. Service was efficient but not overly friendly. Scrambled eggs were overcooked. Bacon was overcooked. The home fries were tasty. Pancakes were large, plentiful and tasty.

Basically a $5 breakfast for $8. I'm pretty sure most of the other patrons were also spill over from John's diner.

Never had a bad meal. I've been to the diner many times for both breakfast and dinner, but I've never once had a bad meal. The last time we went, I ordered the veggie wrap because frankly most restaurants have poor vegetarian options and I didn't know what to expect. It tasted awesome. Whoever writes their menu has a great talent for understanding flavours.

If you like milkshakes, I strongly recommend the mocha milkshake. It tastes like a Coffee Crisp.
Ani
Gotta try their homie poutine! We go there every second weekend and we love the atmosphere. Perfect with the kids. Food is good and the staff is very friendly and accomodating. Cool and casual :)

The four of us had dinner this evening. I had the gyro egg rolls. YUM. I also had a bowl of the red pepper and lentil soup. YUM YUM. Forgot that cumin doesn't agree with me. Oops. My wife had the chicken club sandwich on egg bread, with a bowl of cream of brocolli soup. My son had a bowl of soup as well. YUM YUM YUM. My daughter had the brie burger with sweet potato fries. YUM YUM YUM YUM. Forgot about the coffee that me son had. Ew, blech. In a nutshell, AWESOMELY YUMMY FOOD. Hopefully when we return for dessert and coffee, the coffee will improve.
Jenna
Great breakfast! Lots of options and great value. Consistently good service as well. One of my favorite places for brunch on sundays
Jodes
Amazing owners, great staff. The food is always excellent. The desserts are fresh & homemade. Lots of hearty meal options - not your typical diner. Yum!

New Bacon-ings. Diners are a dime a dozen in any city, so its hard to boil it down to one spot when a craving for a greasy breaky hits Sunday morning. On the sunny side, you don't need to flock far from the nest.

His ordering was over easy and he got The Traditional Breakfast Special (2 eggs your way, choice of bacon, ham or sausage, home fries, & choice of toast with 1 pancake or 1 French toast, Coffee, tea or milk included.) $9.99. The coffee can tend to be a brew'd awakening in some breakfast spots but these were more than sufficient grounds for the flash in the pan breaky to follow...or so I was told since I went with a fruit smoothie.

I was scrambling my brain on which Benny to choose and finally committed to the Florentine Benedict (2 poached eggs with spinach, peameal bacon, topped with hollandaise sauce served on a toasted English muffin with home fries.) $11.99. My home fries kept finding their way down the Hollandaise Road. Nest time I'm shelling out for the Breakfast Poutine (Home fries with Hollandaise sauce and cheese curds) $3.99. More Holland-ai-se for the dutch girl! Oh and I must mention they were a perfectly poached pair!

This not-so-greasy spoon is more than its cracked up to be and omelette 'em lay breaky on me again soon!

Went for brunch on Saturday... Service was reasonably quick, and the food was okay but not great. The coffee was downright awful and neither in my party of two drank more than a half cup.

Two thumbs up!. My mom and I went here for a weekday breakfast. The food was excellent and cooked super fast and it was inexpensive ($5 for 2 eggs, toast, homefries, sausage or bacon, etc. on weekdays between 7-9AM). Lots of people in the neighborhood have recommended it. We will definitely be going back.
B-lo
Went for brunch. The standard diner fare, some items with a twist, all at a fair price & with good service. An easy go-to from now on.
Kiki
Excellent and super friendly service. Breakfast was great and fairly priced. We will be back.
David
Coffee was weak and tepid. Pancake tasted vaguely like foam. English muffin was sliced weird, like a little edge was taken off and the rest was one huge slice. Overall, about 2 steps away from awful. Sorry, I wanted to like it.
Curtis Naphan
Great Breakfast!. I went there with my wife and two small children at 10:20 on a Sunday morning. We were seated immediately (although there have been lines there in the past). Accommodations for toddlers were excellent. Coffee was delivered within seconds. Breakfast is $5 during the week and $8 on weekends, which is fair enough. Overall quality was good, especially the bread and potatoes. Meat was decent and eggs were well-cooked, if a bit overdone. A special order for our toddler was provided (2 eggs and a pancake for $3.50).

We splurged on a chocolate shake, which was incredibly good.

We would definitely go back, especially during the week.
Ivan.M
Great diner. My girlfriend and I have been going to the diner for brunch almost every weeken and we're still loving it. The food is good, with always changing feature special. I have had over time their non-breakfast menu items and they didn't disappoint; I really like their milkshakes. The service is always friendly and good, they are able and willing to accommodate my girlfriend's gluten intolerance which is fantastic. Would highly recommend the place if you're looking for a good, simple, yet delicious food.
David W.
We've been going to the diner for years. There has been a steady decline from food freshness, and quality. Fruit flies even during the winter. We were told it is a problem they cannot figure out. Hello!! You better you are serving food. The grime is building everywhere and there is no more cleanness to the place *especially* the bathrooms grossssed out!! We used to go 2/week. No more:(
William Blake
A lovely diner. My wife and I visited for dinner this evening and found it a very satisfying experience. She has the chicken pot pie, I the meat loaf. In both cases the presentation was nice, the portions more than adequate. The prices are quite reasonable and while the soft drink was not bottomless as the menu said, the glass was still quite large. I note there are usually some police cars parked outside for breakfast, implying that it is popular with them too.
Robert Fleming
Atmosphere and service are exactly what you'd expect from a restaurant in Westboro, and it helps that the food was really good as well, will go back for sure
Pat M.
Amazing Breakfst Experience. WOW! Definitely not what you'd expect from a "Diner". Very nice decor, comfortable atmosphere and the wait staff are probably the friendliest and most outgoing I have encountered anywhere. They have a full breakfast menu that should satisfy any breakfast taste and prices are very reasonable. The four in our party had different variations of the classic two-egg breakfast and everything was done to perfection. All-in-all, an exceptional breakfast experience that would be a great start to any day. The Wellington Diner will definitely be one of our regular breakfast spots.
Mark Hartley
More than a diner. We've eaten here several times and have never been disappointed. The menu is more extensive and more frequently updated than common diner menus. Lunch and dinner there are probably better than breakfast as well which differentiates it further from typical diners.
Marky Mark
We had green eggs & ham - concoction of eggs, pesto, sweet peppers, and onions served with seasoned semi-crunchy home fries and your choice of toast (delicious egg "Challa" bread!). Tasted like a pesto pizza without the crust. Certainly unique, and quite flavorful despite appearing like a mush of tofu omelette. Oil used was a bit old, leaving the home fries quite darkened, and restroom was dank with a decent number of fruit flies to contend with. Still, service was excellent and prompt, and environment was that of an above average diner.
Toby C
Don't get a large shake if you want to eat your food. The shake was delicious but a meal on it's own. I had chicken pot pie with fries & barely touched the fries. Service was fast & friendly. Food was good & priced really well.
Jennie
Amazing eggs benny and friendly service - a solid option for brunch on Wellington.
Steve
Food is always great. Love the breakfast club on egg bread with homefries.

Great burgers. I love this place. Breakfast is a bit expensive, but not totally off the map.

The clubhouse sandwiches and their burgers are terrific. Nice portions and proper pricing.

The wait staff on my last few visits were excellent. Nice people who are friendly and warm - sincere.

Haven't been for an evening meal or a weekend breakfast, but if Mondays are any indication, I would say Saturday morning is crazy busy.

New management since 2010. If you haven't been since you should give it a try. vegetarian and gluten free options, lots of home cooked items like meatloaf, chicken pot pie, beer battered fish, etc.

Lazy rainy Sunday brunch. So, what do you do on a lazy rainy Sunday morning? I used Urbanspoons in the morning to look for breakfast in Westboro.. this is what it recommended, The Wellington Diner. In the reviews it said to expect a long wait on the weekends, we were lucky to get a seat right away.

It was a great place. Great food, great service, great coffee, great location. It's nice being served by a younger yet professional crowd. Here are a few pictures. It looks like a red barn.

Lots of seating, upstairs and on the main floor. We were lucky to sit right at the front window of the restaurant. In Paris, you pay for that kind of real estate!
Below are some pictures of historical Ottawa milestones.

I love taking pictures of the menu! In fact, I didn't even have a chance to open the menu. We both ordered the breakfast special... see below!

All I can say was "wow!". Such an interesting combination, and so tasty. Towards the end the gorgonzola was all I tasted, I think there was a bit too much of it. It's hard to nail the Benedict's, but they sure hit the head!

theovalley.blogspot.com

Best Breakfast in Wellington village. Can't beat the price, 5$ for a classic breakfest with unlimited coffee fill-ups. Great atmosphere and attentive service. You could go there seven days a week.

Wellington Diner--Good food, a little pricey. This is "comfort food." There are breakfast items available all day, and I've had good luck with their specials. Especially the shepherd's pie. My children can always find something they want on their menu, and that's the biggest selling point for me. They really like the milkshakes, too. I find them a bit pricey for what they serve, but I always enjoy the meal.

I was not impressed by the food, or the staff for that matter. If I was going to a diner in the neighbourhood hood I would head a block down the street to John's Diner

Nice milkshake and hamburgers. Good tomato soup too.

I will say that my poached eggs were done to perfection and made a pleasant change. We certainly all enjoyed our meals and agreed that Wellington Diner had earned the chance of a follow-up visit in the future.
