I have been coming to this location since it opened. Unfortunately the last few times I have been here the food has gone downhill. I got my burger 20 minutes ago and the bacon on it is burnt and black and the fries aren’t even fully cooked.

Wanted a treat, called in an order for two burgers at 6:30pm, was told 30min. I gave it 45min. Arrived, was told to wait around in the smelly restaurant - you guys should REALLY change the cooking oil in the deep fryer much sooner. Having worked in restaurants for years, i knew the fries will be a big disappointment due to the overused oil.
Whatever, 20mins pass, got my food at ~7:25pm. Drove home, 5mins away. Burger was alright. The fries were oily and smelly, you can see excess oil all over the takeout box.
It seems that your mileage may vary with this place, based on the reviews.

So this place has been on the decline since the pandemic but I think the food we just got today has finally turned us off coming back here. Everything was overcooked from the fries to the burgers and nothing was kept under a heat lamp (we picked it up 5 min after our pickup time) so everything was cold or lukewarm. My burger had dry overdone chicken, a single piece of lettuce and no sauce. My partner had a dry stuffed burger that wasnt stuffed.
Considering how expensive it is for this mediocre foos (they added in a tip that you cant remove when you order from their website) you'd be better off ordering from actual fast food cause the quality is the same and it would at least be warm.

My husband and I went to dinner. Myself being on a diet thought it would be great to go to The Works because you can sub things to make it keto friendly. Our experience was horrible and I don't know if we'd bother trying to go back? The entrance was packed with people and we waited a bit until a waitress could come to the front but once she did we were able to get to a table right away. The dining experince was horrible though. We waited over an hour for our food, and it was 40 minutes before a waitress even came over to apologize for the wait. It then took another half an hour for the food to get to us. The quality of food wasn't even that good and ontop of we didn't even finish our entire meals. We sat down first and the couple that came in after my husband and I managed to eat, get a doggy bag, pay, and finish up before we even finished our meals. We ordered two identical burgers with a lettuce bun. Our sides were a salad and broccoli. The broccoli is supposed to be steamed and it was served raw. We were about to walk out when the food finally arrived to the table. It was a highly disappointing experience. I understand with the pandemic a lot of people do online orders now, but when you put those orders before your dine in customers it is very problematic.

The Tragically Maple with Spicy Die Cut Chips, and a Tom Green with a side of Cukes and Celery … A! MAY! ZING!!!!! By the time we got it home, put the groceries away and everything else, the food was cooked to room temperature, BUT SO GOOD! I can’t even imagine what it would be like dining in! The Beechhouse Sauce is so good … I could eat that all day long. Is the food pricey? Maybe, if you’re looking for drive through prices. But so worth it! The buns (we had the sesame multi grain) was soft with a nice chew, and didn’t fall apart at all. Not even at the last two bites!!! We brought the menu home so we can plan our next visit 😁

Always Great food and so much of it! So many burgers to choose from and I even won a free tower o rings :) Just for ordering a stuffed burger! My step daughter got a free desert with a candle on it, because it was her Birthday dinner. The server was awesome! I wish we would have got her name.

Burgers are tha bomb. Big and juicy. If you're a tourist and don't have a chance to try it near home, it's worth the wait even if their's a line at the door. Nice spot to take a walk around. Study the menu first cause their's tons of choices. Service en français possible.

Great food! Sometimes it does take a while to get to you. Service depends on the server, but it’s normally not too bad! There is lower parking beside the Metro which is awesome! Free and available parking is my go to!

January 26, 2019<br/><br/>Ordered take-out from The Works Hunt Club this evening. It's the second time they gave me a pink hamburger - even though I asked for it to be cooked well done. You'd think they'd get it right since all they make is burgers. This is an E. coli risk, they need to take it seriously. My first review (first pink burger) is below and the attached photo is from tonight. Won't be giving them any more chances, will not return.<br/><br/>December 23, 2017<br/><br/> Ordered take out and my burger was pink in the centre; I didn't finish eating it for fear of getting sick. I sent them a message two weeks ago about it, asking for a refund and to express my concern about under-cooked ground beef, but they have not responded. They need to take food safety seriously.

Never had a bad experience here. Great burgers, fresh ingredients, creative creations. Service is stellar. Just be ready for a heavy meal, it's not for some who is just feeling peckish.

Amazing poutines, very appetizing and filling. I would recommend the milkshakes as well, however keep in mind that portion sizes are above average and you might end up having to pack the leftovers your meal to go (definitely not a bad thing).<br/>Make sure to try their dipping sauces, they're free of charge and they have an amazing variety.<br/>Also, my personal favourite is adding sour cream and ketchup to the poutine, try it!<br/>All in all, one of my favourite places to dine and if you love burgers and fries then you'll love The Works!

Well I was almost happy with my meal!! We ordered 3 burgers 2 soft drinks and a glass of wine. The waitress never told us that we upgrading to Caesar salad at a cost, nor that any of the topping were extra. The meal was actually really good however everything came crashing down when I get a bill for $85!!!!!! FOR ESENTIALLY 3 BURGERS that I could have bought at Wendy's for under $20 and be just as good!!<br/>That ruined it and Ill never be back!! I have gone to gourmet restaurants for lunch and paid less!~ Do I feel ripped off!! OH YA!

2 times burned. Not sure what has happened to The Works but the last two times we have ordered takeout we brought home burgers that have been entirely charred to the point of being inedible. We ordered four burgers, two were burned to a crisp. Yuk! Thought we might have been unlucky the first time but after receiving burned burgers a second time, we won't be back for a third!

Love!!. I HIGHLY recommend the Juicy Lucy. Probably one of the best burgers I've ever had. The 3-ring binder is also good. The beechhouse sauce is amazing! The amount of choice on the menu is a bit overwhelming, though. The service is usually pretty good. I love how they serve their drinks in measuring cups and the salt & pepper are in lightbulbs.

It was our second visit to this place and I was impressed.<br/><br/>The burger tasted great and I loved the poppy dressing on my salad. I was happy with our service, and our waiter was friendly.<br/><br/>We waited 10 minutes only for our table, which was surprising on a Friday night. The first time we visited, we waited far longer.

Not Worth Your Money. Yeah, they have a cool set-up and the garnishes/flavors for burgers are crazy cool, but the overall quality is not worth the price they ask for. The patties (I tried beef and turkey) we're overcooked and hard to chew. The service was good though. I'd rather have a homemade bbq burger than come back here.

Last time for me. Brought me and my daughter a burger that wasn't half cooked (raw in centre) so I sent it back. Instead of redoing the burger, they took the partially eaten burger off my plate, toppings and all and cooked one side slightly more. It came back still half cooked. What an unacceptable way of doing things. NEVER AGAIN, YUUCCH

Bad day?. I've been to other Works locations many times before and had wonderful burgers. Maybe I came to this one on a bad day? My turkey burger was extremely dry. The other diners reported the same of theirs irrespective of the choice of meat. The toppings were pretty awfully done. There was one messed up order. The sides and drinks were hit or miss. The place was not busy throughout our being there, and the staff was friendly and responsive.

Absolutely unacceptable service. We're still waiting for food an hour after we got here. What they do now is cram people into the tables in order to render them a "captive audience".<br/><br/>There's a table near us with three kids that's waited close to 90 minutes for food.<br/><br/>No food on the planet is worth waiting this long for.

I prefer this location over the "original" location in the Glebe. in the summer with the front wall opened its a great spot and less busy/crowded than the Glebe location as well.

Disappointed. Very disappointed by the service I received tonight. Service was slow, seemed to be forgotten in the back corner. Partner ordered sweet potato fries, was served regular fries. Minor mistake, but coming to Ottawa from out East for a visit, expected a bit more for his first visit. Server promised to fix mistakes, taking the regular fries and promising to return with the correct order. She never came back, and partner only had a burger to eat. Didn't even see the server again throughout the dinner.<br/><br/>Love the Works, but would avoid this particular location next time.

YUM-MA!. Ive been three times and its AWESOME! Strange burgers and weird beers! (WTF is "crackling squirrel"? Didnt matter, I liked it...)<br/><br/>Its worth the wait for your dinner. Factory/garage atmosphere, food served in metal pans and drinks outta measuring cups. FUN! Its a lil pricey when your "upgrading" fries to onion rings or poutine, but overall Fantastic Burgers. Great Burgers - fun staff. The burgers here are great (to say the least) and the staff is friendly and upbeat. This is NOT the place to go if you are looking for a fast burger and fries ... the burgers are not rushed so be prepared to relax, sit back and enjoy the company. The hardest part here is deciding which burger you want to try.

Slow service. Good menu.. Friends have been telling me for years to try the Works. Me and my girlfriend decided to go before going to a movie out at the South Keys cinema. We arrived between an hour and an hour and a half before the film's start time - and thanks to the snail's pace service, we missed the late show. It was very slow. Pros - great menu and atmosphere. Lots of options. Neat theme to the place. But all of that is rather moot if it takes an hour or so to get a hamburger. Server was friendly, but service was so slow. I don't know if the other places in the chain are like that, but it seemed like the staff were goofing off when we looked in to see what's going on and why our orders were taking so long.

This place is always packed, so be prepared for a 15 minute wait. Small and a bit cramped, but the burgers are not over cooked and the ingredients are fresh. It almost impossible to pick a burger because there are sooo many choices. I usually opt for the B.A.B. Burger (lettuce, tomato, onions and garlic sauce) but last time I went with First Date ( tomatoes, onions, grilled mushrooms and Brie) and it was excellent. You can't go wrong with the fries or the tower of onion rings. The Lumpy Mashed Potatoes seemed old and had an off putting flavor. The milkshakes are supreme! Service is friendly, a bit rushed and you will end up paying about $30 for two burgers. Reliable goodness.

Let's review what a Bistro is.<br/><br/>There are a ton of variations, the shakes are amazing, you can find a creative burger on the menu. <br/><br/>The prices are a tad higher than a pub. Given the range of toppings and sides, it is to be expected.<br/><br/>Believe the hype. The Works is great....albeit gluttonous

Endless Possibilities...except one. You can't go wrong with The Works. There are countless variations to choose from. As a vegan, I especially love that they offer a grilled portabello mushroom burger. Unfortunately every single burger has either cheese or a cream based sauce on it, so I need to ask them to do some swapping every time I go, which is fairly often. To make this place truly vegan-friendly, I suggest adding Daiya cheese (a meltable vegan cheese that can be kept frozen for a couple of months) to the list of options. Some of us recovering omnivores do still crave a cheese burger once in a while. Please?

Better wait times!. This place has shorter wait times by FAR than the other locations I've been. That being said- if you're ever in Toronto, go to Bamburger- their toppings aren't as crazy, but their pattys are tastier! I agree that this place is overpriced, and they should really take reservations, buy larger locations, or at least have a decent sitting/wait area. Our waiter was great though, and I really enjoyed my burger!

The works is a unique resturant. With measuring cups for glasses, and a towering stack of Onion rings. Quite simply some bizzare burgers on there menu. Which is what I think makes this place great and different. Not the same old Menu from an average burger joint. Where else beside making it yourself, can you find a a burger called "Hold the Phone" which has Peanut Butter, cream cheese and jack cheese. Need I say more.

Burgers are excellent. Be ready to spend some time trying to figure out what burger you want - the choices are very numerous. I recommend ordering a shake while you try and figure it out! You will be happily stuffed by the end of your meal!
