Mahal Tanjore (previously Thanjai Ottawa) Restaurant - Ottawa - Photo album

We had a quick dinner at Thanjai on a Friday evening. The place has limited seating and the wonderful aromas of sambar hit you the minute you walk through the door. We had Medu Vada Sambar which was nice but the vadas weren't crispy. Probably because they were dunked in sambar but the taste was good
Shared the FOUR FOOT DOSA with my friend. We came sooo close to finishing it. So yummy and a great experience. Came with 4 sides: coconut chutney, potato curry, sambar and some sort of tomato chutney? I may be way off! To finish off, I had a South Indian coffee. Tasted different, reminded me of Turk

Ordered the ghee masala dosa with a side of chicken 65 and their onion pakoda. This is literally the best dosa I've had outside of Chennai! And the chicken 65 was epic! No other words, mouth watering authentic south Indian food - definitely coming back!
Felt more like food you would buy at a grocery store unfortunately. The mutter paneer just tasted like heavy cream without any flavour. The naan bread felt store bought and was very tough. We were looking forward to trying this place, but it was overpriced, disappointing and we both ended up getting
