By far the best cupcakes you can buy in the city! Both locations are beautiful!!The red velvet is my family's favorite, but the daily selection is incredible!!! Can't wait to try the greek yogurt creations:D
Awesome cupcakes .... Got Mother's Day weekend off to great start with dozen of carrot cake cupcakes for mom which she
Cupcakes are DELICIOUS!!! Best ones I've ever had. :) The red velvet cupcakes are one of a kind.
Great cupcakes with loads of flavour. Many different types to choose from and packaging was great. The prices were a bit high for the cupcakes but i would still recommend cupcake lounge!
Cute restaurant. I usually grab 6 of their day olds cupcakes since they are better priced and equally delicious. Ive tried almost every flavour and they are all amazing.
I have mixed feelings on this place. I really like the idea, but I'm just never wowed enough by their treats. The cupcakes are good, but not much better than what I can buy at Loblaws, and their ice cream pops are good but not much better than those you could be in a box at a corner store or grocery store. It doesn't help that this location is very cramped and the staff often looks at people in the store like they're being a bother. I've also had some problems with their rotating schedule and them not having the particular ones on their particular days.
I'm addicted. The vanilla ,vanilla cupcakes invade my dreams. The icing is perfect, and cupcakes are always fresh. Friendly and helpful staff , the restaurant is small but has few tables. I love this place.
The store is very pleasing visually, super cute. Service was alright. Polite but not super friendly, generally didn't speak much. I got the red velvet cupcake on one occasion (pictured) and bought 4 to go another time (peanut butter chocolate, Oreo, vanilla vanilla, and carrot cake I believe it's called) and they were alright, but nothing special. Definitely not worth their price tag. The icing was very sweet and masked the flavor of the cupcake, which was quite dry. The carrot cake one was pretty good though, it had cream cheese icing which wasn't too sweet but still flavorful, the best out of the ones that I got. However, I generally wouldn't recommend the cupcake lounge. You can definitely find better cupcakes at this price point.
Amazing cupcake selection! Cupcake was delicious, white got chocolate on the other hand I would not recommend. Great place to sit for a while. Will definitely be going again soon to try more flavours.
I've always had a positive experience at The Cupcake Lounge. Each time I've been, the cupcakes were fresh and super tasty. My favourite cupcake is the chocolate chip peanut butter.
Very inviting and good service at the Cupcake Lounge. There is something for everyone. It is difficult to choose because there is such a wide selection. I liked every cupcake i tried there.
Good cupcakes! I had the key lime and it was really tasty. They don't have a bathroom nor do they have much seating. I had a decaf coffee that was just okay. Tasted burnt. My friend had an iced coffee and she wasn't super impressed. Also said it tasted burned and opted to add sugar and cinnamon. Our table was dirty. It's all about the cupcakes! Lots of icing!
Decent Standard Cupcakes. Theyre decent cupcakes with cool flavors and lots of choice. Im just a bit put off by the price, theyre standard sized and they have just a bit of icing (to my taste anyways) and theyre around 3.75$ each. Theyre not that special in my opinion and arent worth that.
Chocolate Chocolate. They are amazingg!
Really Good and Unique Fun Flavours. Really good and I'm not a cupcake person. My favourite was the carrot cake with great icing. They didn't have the maple bacon the day I went, but I will go back one day just to try that flavour. Felt the actual cake part could have been a bit more moist, but overall very good.
Yummy cupcakes, lots of icing for my taste though so I remove some of it and then they're perfect!
Sister brought back awesome Cupcakes to Toronto. Maple Bacon is my favourite! My only complaint is that it needs more bacon... And prefferably bacon inside the cake. Will definitely visit when I come up to Ottawa!
The Spot for Luxury Cupcakes. This is my favourite cupcake place by far in Ottawa. It's pricey, but so worth it. The first bite will get you addicted. The staff are pleasant, the location is quaint and the cupcakes are amazing. Give it a try and see for yourself :)
Delicious cupcakes!!! The icing and cake part of the cupcake is like no other!
I highly recommend! Only change that I would make is the seating! There should be more tables and chairs in the store for customers to really be able to "lounge" it while they're enjoying their scrumptious dessert(s)!!!
I love the Oreo. Love the icing #butterycreamydelight I can't walk by without stopping in to drool!
Tried the seasonal pumpkin cupcake, delish!
Best cupcakes in town. By far the best cupcakes in the city. So delicious! I'm going to get a couple now.
Chocoholics will like. Decadent chocolate cupcake. Icing was surprisingly not that sweet but sweet enough. No buttery taste. Cake didn't fall apart. I think I found my new BFF! Latte didn't disappoint.
Hello Mr. AMR. You're pretty arrogant to say that you could put them out of business. What kind of comment is that? Anyway, that said I thoroughly enjoy the cupcakes. They're delicious, moist and the icing is great! They all have their distinct flavour and my personal favourite is the chocolate version. I'm sure that there are other cupcakes that may be better (of course its all a matter of taste and preference) but you can't go wrong.
Yummy!. Best cupcake I ever had. I went with the gluten free one and it was just amazing! The cupcakes are rather pricey but worth it ... just don't go all the time ;)
There's not a lot of places to sit... would have been nice if there was more seating.
BEST CUPCAKES. Best cupcake place in town. I love it!! I go too often and my favorite flavor is chocolate peanut butter cupcake :)
Best cupcakes in Ottawa. I'm obsessed. I have been dragging my boyfriend all around Ottawa to have a little cupcake off and find the best cupcakes in Ottawa and these win hands down. He's obsessed with them too. We buy them every week. The cream cheese icing is incredible, you can't find that anywhere else. And they are huge and moist and have the most amazing flavours. They're also gorgeous.
Dolce de leche delish. Cupcake Lounge is definitely worth a try! They make very decent cupcakes and my favorite, the chocolate dolce de leche is pretty good! too bad they only make it on Thursdays...
Pricey but worth it.. Although their good cupcakes run out really quick I managed to try several good ones, the chocolate chocolate isn't that good. I loved the oreos, the maple and the banana.
Well done! :). I was happy to see a different business in the By Market, I live in the neighbourghood and baked goods are always a happy encounter! I decided to buy a few assorted cupcakes to bring as treats for friends of mine, they all loved them! Well done :) Best wishes to you!
Cute and Comforting!. I have been here about 4 times now and out of the various flavours I have tried, I must admit any of their chocolate or hazelnut icing cupcakes are the best. The cupcakes my friends and I tried on one occasion were very stale but overall, this place is a sweet treat!
Great cupcakes. Grabbed a few of these cupcakes to share with my girlfriend on Valentine's Day. We ate them the day after and all I can say is they were awesome. I had one of the red velvet and a white chocolate macadamia nut, they were both awesome. The place was sold out of V Day so I'm glad I called ahead.
Big cupcakes. Lots of interesting cupcakes and I like the icing. They are just very big that I usually have to share, but that's ok. They are also pricey so nice for a gift, but otherwise can make my own just as good.
Pretty good. I'm not a cupcake connoisseur, but I am a voracious home baker. Here's what I have to say about the Cupcake Lounge:
1) It's not a lounge. Think more quick take-out place with a few high-tops.
2) I got the Oreo cupcake. The elements of chocolate cupcake, vanilla frosting and cookie crumbles on their own were nothing special. However, together they made a bit of magic. A moist cupcake and very generous frosting make for sweet creamy loveliness. But...I think Isobel's -although smaller - has better flavour overall.
3) I don't know what I think about buying a cupcake for almost $3.50. Does this make us an insane society?
4) The service was prompt, friendly and polite.
5) While I wouldn't make this my only destination in the market, it is definitely a solid snack or pick-me-up stop.
6) I'd definitely go there again and try something new.
Update: The Red Velvet cupcake was beyond words. Fabulous. Buy one. Immediately.
I've been there 3 times and each time I have not been disappointed I've had the chocolate dulce de leche and the chocolate chip peanut butter and they were amazing.
Wonderful place. On short notice they were able to produce 13 dozen cupcakes for my staff. Everybody was impressed with the quality of the cupcakes and the presentation. I would recoomend them for any special event.
Yumm-o!. Randomly popped in while shopping in the market for a quick sugar rush. I had the Chocolate Hazelnut (Ground hazelnut chocolate cake with dark chocolate frosting) which was AMAZING! Icing was soo decadent. My friends had the Espresso (Belgian dark chocolate cake with chocolate espresso frosting) which he gave a great review with a drool and my other friend had the Carrot (Pure carrot cake, walnuts and pineapple, and cinnamon cream cheese frosting) but didnt enjoy. He really didnt like the frosting on this one at all.
Overall, really cute little shop with yummy sweets and adorable presentation. One cupcake is $3.25.
YUM. Enjoying a deliciously sweet Vanilla Vanilla.
Lemon Coconut Rocks. Tried the lemon coconut today and it was quite good. Icing was sweet but not overly and I like tart so it was just the right amount of tart. I had a large latte to go along with it. I am a big-time latte drinker and I gotta say it was damn good.
Loved It. Great service, great cupcakes. I'll go back knowing they have lots of flavours I can try and the sales people are friendly and approachable.
Favourite flavours so far: Key Lime, Chocolate Ganache, Strawberry.
Wowza. After hearing about this place all summer, I finally had the chance to check it out yesterday. First of all, I'd have to say they have a pretty location-- cuteness all around. I tried their Apple Caramel flavour and was seriously blown away. It was the best cupcake I have ever had, hands down. I can't wait to go back and try all the flavours. Definitely a must-see cupcake spot if you're into mini-cakes.
Great cupcakes. Moist with a delicious amount of icing. Yuuum! They don't have any seats inside so I wonder why it's called a lounge???
Best Cupcakes In Ottawa. These are by far the best cupcakes in Ottawa! The icing is true butter-cream and the cake is favorable and moist. Love the Key Lime, White Chocolate and Vanilla. Finally, a cupcake in Ottawa that warrants those extra calories.
A New Treat. Icing is untouchable. Good value - they are big cupcakes and go for 3.50 individually.
I thoroughly enjoyed the service I received when asking for suggestions.
This afternoon, while downtown, I thought I would use a coupon for a free cup of coffee with the purchase of a cupcake at The Cupcake Lounge ( 6 Byward Market Square, Ottawa ). I walked down to the small store next to Zak's Diner but just short of Clarence Street on Byward Market Square and entered. Inside is a small storefront with two tables in the window for consuming your favourite beverage and your cupcake of choice. Behind the counter is where the magic happens where two employees make the cupcakes by hand and sell them there. From their website they sell both individually to walk in customers like myself to big corporate functions and weddings. I waited for a lady in front of me to finish ordering. Sure there were two employees, but one was putting the finishing touches on the icing of another chocolate cupcake while the first was cashing out the customer in front. No problem there as there was not that many customers in line. Less than a minute and I was next. I walked up
We split one of the remaining banana cupcakes with cream cheese frosting ($3.25). The cake’s light crumb, tasting gently of banana, paired well with the light for cream cheese frosting. It was a delicate balance. Tasty treats served by friendly people, we left with great first impressions.
Our dad lives in Ottawa, and we (his kids) live in Montreal, and because of covid, could not be there for his birthday. We ubered him cupcakes from the cupcake lounge, and you guys added a note for him, and it was amazing!! Thank you!
We’ve tried numerous items on their menu and it’s all delicious. Our favorite is the chocolate chocolate cupcakes. They also have really nice DIY kits that make a really good activity for kids on a weekend. We’ve tried the cookie and the cupcake DIY kits and they come with everything needed and it’s lots of fun for kids( and adults!)
The selection is impressive, and the service is fantastic, but the pricing is high (and this goes for all the cupcake places in Ottawa).
Tried the peanut butter (good), and the strawberry cheesecake (not bad).
They also offer "day old" cupcakes at a reduced price.
It's pretty good, so I would recommend dropping by if you're in the market.
I have never had a bad experience with Cupcake Lounge! Their classics such as Oreo and Red Velvet are always dependable and I love the seasonal options as well.
My recent Uber Eats experience was even more lovely. One of the items I had ordered was out of stock and they subbed it out for an even better Marshmallow Ganache! Thanks so much, guys for the friendly note and the A+ service.

Really tasty cupcakes, great and fun choice of delicious flavours, beautiful and cozy decor, friendly and helpful service! It's a little expensive, but it's totally worth to try! They also have nice boxes in case you want to buy as a gift, to take to a party etc. We totally recommend!
This gem is located in the ByWard Market area. The place is nice and clean. Staff was happy, friendly and nice.
