Best Indian food I’ve had. I would highly recommended it!
First time visit Plain but clean surroundings Apart from the Dahl soup which was rather watery the rest of meal was excellent . we had a madras beef curry and a goat curry both medium which were quite hot but with an excellent flavour and generous portions
The rice was perfect and aromatic along with good naan bread
Will recommend as a place for good Indian food
Their onion bhaji is the best in Ottawa. Their signature tandoori is very good too. Staff and environment are both pleasant. Tamarind sauce was a little watery.
I've been looking for the ultimate Indian cuisine in Ottawa for the past 8 months. Finally found the perfect one for me. The vegetable sumber is my favorite. Encourage others to give it a try.
My favorite Indian place in the city. Best lunch deals out there, 12 for huge Curry rice and salad. Everything tastes excellent been going there for years.
We've gone to the restaurant with friends several times, and have also had takeout multiple times. We've enjoyed everything we've tried. The tandoori plate is extremely generous and provides enough for two, and the chicken in it is not dried out at all. The vindaloo is delicious and very hot, dansak was very good - I could go on and on. The dishes are flavourful and the spiciness does not overwhelm other flavours. If you like Indian food, I recommend this restaurant highly.
This is walking distance from my house and because of lukewarm reviews, I avoided it until now - big mistake!!!! This place is pretty awesome! I'm Indian (South) and so pretty picky about "generic" North Indian food. Mia's spices things carefully and thoughtfully. Even ordered 'mild', the dishes are flavourful. The atmosphere is calm and clean, the decor tasteful, and the staff very friendly. Service is prompt. Recommend their biryani and aloo gobi. It's not the "best" Indian food I've ever had, but I would certainly recommend it as amongst the solid choices in the city!
I'm salivating just thinking about them. Some of the best Indian food in Ottawa. They are so friendly too. Very delicious. Hot. Perfect
Only criticism is the price is a tad high... So it limits me to how often I eat here. But when we do/order take out. It is a feast!
I have to give Mia's a five. There food is wonderful. Fresh, delicious and the portions are very generous. The service is always prompt and friendly. We never hesitate to dine there. Our favourite for Indian.
Mia's opened up quite recently (replacing the KFC thank goodness) and has quickly become my family's go-to takeout in the area, pushing aside our Greek, Thai, and Chinese favorites. Their dishes are large and the service is wonderful. It's always a please to eat there, whether we sit down or get take out.
Fairly decent, but the prices are a little high I find.
I like their chicken Dhansak, but they leave whole cardamom pods in, as well as lemon wedges mixed in the curry. More than once I have gotten a big bite of either, and it kind of 'sours' the experience, but literally, and metaphorically. I have also tried their Korma, and I found it bland. I haven't tried it, but I heard their butter chicken was also not very good.
It isn't a bad place overall, however. Portions are alright, mostly the flavours seem to be decent.
We have been ordering Mia's maybe once every month or two since they opened. The food is really good and flavorful (quality/price; the spicyness can be adjusted to your liking), portion sizes are good as well, and the service is efficient. We usually order for pick-up or delivery; everything is always on time and hot! We really like their apps platter, the chicken biryani, lamb biryani - both with lots of chicken/lamb -, butter chicken (creamy and tasty), chicken tikka, naan, etc. It's definitely one of the good Indian food restaurants in the city!
I loved the food . The appetizer combination plate was a dream . We ordered curry , butter chicken and shrimp sac. The atmosphere of the restaurant is really not the best but the food is really great .
Very impressed. I pass by this restaurant almost daily and every time I tell myself I must try it. With most of the restaurants closed for Victoria Day, I was pleased to find it open. I ordered the tandoori chicken and my son the Marsala chicken. We were both very satisfied with our dishes. The servings were huge, had hard time finishing them. We couldn't manage to finish the rice and the bread was to die for. I ordered mango ice cream and it was delicious but 4 dollars for three tiny scopes, it was very pricy. The service was great and the place very appealing. I highly recommend this restaurant, and surely will be back to try other dishes.
AMAZING every time. I absolutely LOVE Mia's! The food is never a disappointment, and the staff are the sweetest bunch of folks you could encounter. I'm moving away from Ottawa soon, and one of the hardest things for me will be to leave this place. It has definitely won a special place in my heart due to its constantly reliable delicious meals, charming staff and lovely atmosphere.
Good solid friendly neighbourhood restaurant. I'd avoid the butter chicken (other places in town do it better), but every other dish I've eaten there has been top notch. The staff are really kind, so eating there always feels like I'm going to a friend's house. So glad it's there.
Always good. Found this place through Urbanspoon, didn't realize the history until several visits. Food and service is always excellent. Always recommend this place to friends.
We loved this resturant! The food is divine, the service was quietly friendly and efficient, and the price point excellent!
Authentic, Outstanding Indian Cuisine!. This is our favourite Indian restaurant in Ottawa. The food and service are simply outstanding. Our favorites are the Chicken Masala, Sag Paneer, garlic Naan and Chicken Tandori. We are quite selective with respect to our Indian food; we appreciate fresh ingredients and spices and Mia's never disappoints! The staff are friendly, attentive and work hard to ensure an unforgettable dining experience. We've sampled many Indian restaurants in the Toronto and Ottawa areas, and Mia's is truly one of our favourites!
Love the food!. We moved up from Kingston this past summer. Did some research and ordered take-out from Mia's based on feedback from the internet. It was excellent! We were so excited to find delicious and spicy indian food. We found Kingston to be disappointing. Since then, we order take-out from them every two weeks or so. Tried a couple of other places but they were disappointing. Our standard order is naan, rice and chicken tikka marsala (spicy). We will be going to eat in the restaurant for the first time this weekend.
The food was very good, well seasoned and balanced flavors. They pay attention to little details e.g. aromatics in the plain basmati rice. The service was excellent. A bit pricey I would say.
Three visits, three wins. Part of me wants to explore the rest of the menu, part of me wants to repeat the last meal. Great food. Equally good to eat in as it is to take home.
Can't say enough about it. Excellent Indian cuisine. 10/10!
Good. Not great.. My daughter and I frequent this restaurant because it is within walking distance from our home and we love Indian food. We were so excited when it first opened; to have a neighbourhood Indian restaurant was our dream. But I was hoping it would be a little less pricey, especially considering the portions lean towards the small.
Mia's indicates their house speciality is the tandoori and it is very good. For $16, you can have a plate of specific meat (i.e. chicken) or an assortment platter with various meats. It's so good and comes sizzling on a skillet to your table. We also love the chana masalla and the beef saag (my favourite). The curry is good, but a little too mild. The sauce of the vegetable korma is a delight, but so disappointing with the addition of frozen vegetables. Since a small bowl of korma costs $13, one would expect fresh vegetables.
Sometimes my daughter will stop by on her way home and pick up Peshwari Naan, which is naan bread with dried fruit in it. She loves it.
I wouldn't rate Mia's as my favourite Indian restaurant, but it is good.
Quite good but...I mean butter. I love Indian food...it's half my heritage. The food at Mia is very good and worth the visit. It's my mission in life to try the butter chicken everywhere I go and whilst everything we tried was actually quite delicious, the butter chicken was disappointing. Honestly the flavour is akin to Tomato soup lightened up by cream and flavoured with almonds. There is far better butter chicken in the city but alas the best I have ever had is in Montreal at a new place called Rasoi (look it up if you're in Montreal, it's to die for). Back to Mia. Good food, decently priced, good service.

The food was wonderful! The boyfriend said the best samosas he's ever had. The butter chicken and lamb masalla were amazing and the naan bread (plain and garlic) were so tasty. It was our first time and we will definitely be back.
Catered Birthday. We had eaten at Mia's a few times and found the food to be our favorite Indian in Ottawa. It's far from our home in the south end of the city, but worth the trip.
For my wife's 40th birthday I decided to have our party catered by Mia's. In a word, the food was phenomenal. we did 4 dishes (Butter chicken (my wifes fav), mixed veg, onion Baji, rice, naan, and veg samosa's, rice and a salad). They were completely flexible on the menu and worked with me to get the most and best dishes for my budget.
The price was fair, and excellent value for the money. People were raving about it, and everyone needed to know where the restaurant was. Each dish was completely unique in flavor, and succulent. The ingredients were clearly fresh, and made from scratch. They even delivered to my door in heating trays. It helped to make the party truly memorable. I cannot say enough about our experience and would recommend Mia's in a heartbeat.
Butter chicken is sweet, with good smell of butter. Vandaloo lamb is very hot, but I can't help myself keep eating it. Naan bread is delicious.
Really good. My experiene at this restaurant was a delight. The food was spectaular and the service was great.
Very friendly service, OK food. We went to Mia's on the recommendation of a friend who said the naan bread was the best in Ottawa - and she may be right! Extremely hot, soft and tasty. However, the appetisers (onion bhajies and veg samosas) were OK but not super tasty or very hot. The shrimp masala was a bit too creamy for my personal taste but the lamb roghan was really good. What made the meal special was the friendly smiles and careful attention from the staff in this busy little family resturant. Well worth another visit.
Mia's Indian cuisine. I went there for lunch and it was excellent! Reasonably priced specials at 7.95 to 11.95. Myhusband had the butter chicken and I had the Chicken Masala. The butter chicken was excellent however a tad sweeter than I am used to. The chicken Masala was excellent. Great prices, food and very fresh. Will def go back!
Better than most in Ottawa. I arrived at Mia's hoping for something above average and left pleasantly surprised. The food (chana masala and veggie curry) that we ate was very tasty, though not as spicy as I hoped. We asked for spicy and that was the only let down. The naan was good, onion bhaji great and the kashmeri rice was amazing.
All in all based on this experience Mia's is better than most of the other Indian restaurants in town, though falls short of Light of India for me. I will gladly return and soon I hope.
The butter chicken is mouthwatering! Same with all of the appetizers! Excellent experience all around!
Wow - so good. My partner and I just came back from Mia's. Not only did we have a fantastic meal but the service and value were great too.
I'm a British expat and, having lived on the "curry mile" in Manchester during my university days, you may assume i have had the odd curry in my time. Unfortunately the vast majority of Canadian curry houses do not seem to produce food of either sufficient quality or inspiration (bland rubber butter chicken). I put ths down to the lack of competition and demands by the public. Unfortunately I (heart) curry, to the point of homesickness!
So listen up Ottawa, this place is THE REAL DEAL. The naan bread is far and away the best I have tasted in North America. This is no mean feat given I've eaten at Vijs in Vancouver on several occasions. The mixed starters with the "meal for two" special was a great choice and the mains were full of depth of flavour. This guy knows his spices, a fact you realise as soon as you cross the threshold mmmmmmm, those smells.
The only real competition to this place in Ottawa is the Little India Cafe. The service, environment and complexity of spices are superior here. You all must try it, if you must have butter chicken so be it, but please please try the other curries. The tandoori specials looked amazing and judging by our appetizer taster will not let you down.
Enjoy Ottawa, Mia's has thankfully just raised the bar for Indian cuisine.
Awesome food. The vindaloo will burn your insides. Fantastic!!!!
Definitely a great restaurant worth going back to.
Just moved to the area and being a Brit I need a good curry house in walking distance. Went in late Sunday and had the place to myself. Service was very welcoming and friendly. I had saag chicken, aloo gobi and a couple of chipatis, a kingfisher beer and a cup of tea. The food was very good. The ingredients were clearly high quality and it was very well cooked. Unlike others I found the portion sizes just fine without being huge. However, it was a little pricey. I will most definitely go back as the quality of the food was good and the service friendly.
Delicious!. I loved the food here and the service was wonderful - and the prices are reasonable too. My favourite - the saag paneer. Yum! I'll go back again and again.
Great Service. We had great quick service when we ate her Friday. A bit more expensive than other places in town but it could be due to the freshness of the food. Unlike others everything seemed fresh made on the spot. Vindaloo was made to order extra hot or milder upon request just get it as the chef prepares it because it was hot enough to put you in a sweat half a dish in.The lamb rogan josh was the stellar point of our meal and I would recommend it. Naan was on the sweet side but piping hot and crispy on the bottom. Our saag aloo was good but could have been a bit more pureed but was seasoned perfectly. Seasoning didn't seem to be an issue here everything had it's own flavors not that everything taste the same like so many other Indian places in Ottawa.
Good food and service is not bad. It's a new restaurant, so give some time for better service.
The food at Mia's is mediocre. the samosas were the best I have had in Ottawa. the food is definitely on the pricey side for the amount of food you get. Butter chicken was nice, but a little too sweet for my taste. Garlic naan was good but should have been brought out with meal. The rice was a seperate item and did not come with meal. Not much ambiance and need some soft Indian music. Can't afford to eat there again.
Small family restaurant, not my favorite but its worth the try. Service is great and food is delicious. Portions are big .. but a bit pricy for 1 sort
The food is absolutely delicious and the portions are really good! We always come back at this restaurant as it's one of our favorite place, but price wise it's definitely a preferable experience to order for lunch than for dinner! There are a lot of vegetarian options, which is great! We'll be back for more delicious lunches for sure!
Tried Mia's for the first time yesterday. Food was delicious, and the meat dishes had the most amount of meat I have ever gotten in an Indian restaurant. The butter chicken was full of large pieces of chicken, and the beef was plentiful as well. The vegetarian dishes - daal, paneer, mixed veg were all very flavourful. I am Indian so very picky with Indian food - Mia's is definitely worth trying, I will be going back for takeout again for sure.
Delicious, generous, unpretentious, great service... my first time eating biryani, and it was amazing (I had chicken)!! Beef curry was also excellent. A perfect end to my weekend. Thank you!
Consistently delicious food. Polite service.
