Absolutely the best burger in Ottawa. Great fried chicken also, but overall, limited menu. My favorite has been their special guest chef night, the last Sunday night of the month. Absolutely amazing food, from the first coarse to dessert! This place has also one of my newest favorite drinks called a Dad's root beer. Some Vern's root beer I believe, Amaretto and Jameson on a scoop of vanilla ice cream! If you are a whiskey fan, can't beat this drink. Wish they had more sides to pick from, but the chicken and waffles, burger, and hand cut fries are truly the best in town and good price point for such good quality food. Waiters and waitresses provide fast and friendly service also.
absolutely fantastic! these burgers are without a doubt the best in town. it's a great vibe and the ability to pick up some decent late night eats (that isn't shawarma), is great too! keep'em coming you guys!
OMG! They had us at the coffee, tasty and super hot like we like it. We will definitely be back.
Move over Zak's there is a new king in town. It's King Eddy. Loved the service, the food, the music and best of all the company I was with, my man Bob.
Oh my God... best friggin' burger EVER! Kids enjoyed the all day breakfast and wife liked the salad. Great find - just happend on King Eddy by chance going to another place to eat. The only parking spot around was right in front. Really glad we found this restaurant. Will be back!
Big portion, delicious and second to none burgers. High fish to batter ratio fish & chips.

Their burgers were so good! Comes with two patties, cheese and lots of other toppings. The sweet potato fries and poutine were both delicious! The spiked milkshake was a yummy drink to have on the patio.
Best burger in the market! A must do!
Don’t forget the King Eddy Sauce!
Awesome place, awesome burgers, great service and great beer. What more do you want in life!? 🕺
Right in the middle of the byward market in the local Ottawa city. a spacious restaurant that has option for breakfast brunch lunch and dinner. it is located at the corner of the block so if you can get a window seat you may enjoy the view by the window.
The wait staff are very friendly and efficiently. I have only tried the salmon Benedict, but I loved it. it is a dog-friendly restaurant. I saw a tiny dog run around after being unleashed. It ran to the kitchen to say hi to the staff, The staff was so friendly and carry it back to the owner
A great place to go because there's something for everyone! I went there for the whole earth salad and it was awesome! Truly so fresh and a huge size so very filling! The vinaigrette was just the right amount and really delicious. On the other hand, my partner is more of a meat-eater and really enjoyed their NFC chicken sandwich (the fries that came with were awesome as well). If you go between 3-6pm you can access their happy hour drink menu and they are pretty good value! Really beautiful interior of the restaurant and the staff was so friendly and helpful. A unique take on the classic diner - 5 stars!
Husband and I had breakfast at King Eddy on a rainy Sunday morning. Although the place seemed packed to us, we heard the owner (we think he was the owner) say it was a slow morning. I guess we got lucky not to have to wait for a table!
Service was excellent, the staff super attentive, nice, helpful and all with a smile.
The food was simply amazing! We both had the King Eddy breakfast with bacon and rye bread, but my eggs were poached and my husband’s were scrambled.
The eggs were perfect, not too cooked, not too runny. The bacon was crisp without being dry and the breakfast potatoes simply melted in your mouth. These were NOT McCain tater tots. These were home made, cooked from scratched, seasoned to perfection breakfast potatoes. Pretty much the best I had in years!
I highly recommend King Eddy for all this plus the prices are super reasonable, especially for the quality of the food and the service. Next time we are in town, we’ll come back for sure!
We dropped in to The King Eddy, in the middle of the ByWard Market, for lunch on a weekday. My companion had the Whole Earth Salad (CA$16.99 in 2022) and said it was delicious. There was lots of different kinds of lettuce, cranberries, cucumber, grape-tomatoes, sunflower seeds, feta cheese, pickled beets, carrots and more. My companion said she would come back again just for this salad.
I had the King Eddy Burger (CA$12.00) and, as previous reviews said, the hamburger patties were excellent: home-made, juicy, and fresh. The rest of the burger was... well, fine. I have noticed a trend to make hamburger buns very sweet and spongy and this burger was no exception. The sweetness was a distraction from the succulent hamburger patties, and I wonder if a whole-wheat or a multi-grain bun would be a better foundation both in terms of taste and "structural integrity". There is an option to substitute a lettuce leaf for the bun for a Gluten Free option. This might be a better way to enjoy the delightful burger patties.
We shared a small Poutine - good thing we ordered a small because there was plenty to share! I really wanted to have the Poutine because where I'm from the Poutine has either been gentrified with truffle oil or other such frufru ingredients or downgraded to soggy fries, grey chicken gravy and a whisper of "cheese" and call it done. Not at the King Eddy! The fries were firm and plentiful, the gravy was hearty and flavourful, and the cheese curds were so fresh they nearly squeaked against your teeth. Heaven.
The staff were attentive and friendly. The restaurant was about half-full and the food came quickly. The King Eddy has a road-side diner ambiance – warm and comfortable. We’d go back for the Whole Earth Salad (and perhaps the Poutine if we’re feeling decadent).
Great diner! I loved their fried chicken and my sister was very impressed with their salad! Staff were friendly and gave wonderful suggestions!
Ordered the King Eddy burger, the club, onion rings, chicken fingers and poutine... everything was DELICIOUS! I think the club would be easier to eat if the chopped up the chicken though. The poutine was a pinch salty BUT that's how I like it. I would recommend but definitely go eat at the restaurant.
