We love pho, so we tried this place based on good reviews and we were not disappointed. Vermicelli dish was amazing , the pho broth was maybe best we have had. The summer rolled with grilled pork were fantastic. We will definitely be back and highly recommend this restaurant. Friendly and helpful staff.
Well-known Vietnamese eatery in Centretown. The room is tiny with barely 20 seats but don't let the size and uninspired decor fool you. The menu covers all the basics with an array of appetizers, noodle soups, rice dishes and vermicelli bowls.
The servings are largish, with heaps of fresh veggies complimenting the grilled meats and starches. Meat portions could be a tad more generous. The spring rolls are nice with a meaty filling of minced pork and dark mushroom (unlike the cabbage and mystery meat of many places)-well appreciated.
Service is fast, polite and efficient.

Good service and authentic pho. Ordered the rice paper beef rolls, pho and grilled chicken and beef rice. Happy with all dishes. Their pickled onion and carrots were surprisingly good.
Always enjoy Saigon Boy. One of my favorite spots for pho in the city. Great broth. Well priced, too, for Ottawa. It's nice that you don't have to have cash on hand now too.
The Pho was delicious and meat fair quality. The soup wasn't too oily or greasy. The prices, although cheap, are higher than comparable places in Toronto.

I haven't been here in a long time. They were very busy, but efficient and offered attentive service. The portion was great, good ratio of noodles to broth. Broth was not too oily but it had a sweetness to it that I wasn't a huge fan of. With some basil and lime I didn't notice it as much. Will come again, their vermicheli bowls looked stellar.
The only Pho I enjoy in town. I really love their veggie broth here with their veggie pho (#39). My son and I are regulars here. They treat us with courtesy and respect, along with amazing food. Highly recommended.
Best pho in Chinatown!! A nice small family owned business, the service is always great and the staff very friendly. The restaurant is always clean and not overcrowded unlike most pho places in the area. The broth is consistently delicious, very tasty and the ingredients are fresh. I would definitely recommend this place to any pho lover!
Excellent flavour. Good portion. Chicken was all dark meat. Bathroom was not super clean. Nice servers. I would go back because the flavour were quite enjoyable.
Not bad, but not the best pho broth I have tried - alas, still looking for a place in Ottawa that serves pho like from back home. Seeing as this place had high ratings we had to check it out.
First, service is great. The server accommodated to everything we requested, answered all our questions, and refilled our waters without us having to hunt them down.
For food, we found the toppings are a bit skimpy for the portion size you buy. We ordered the "saigon boy bowl" which apparently has all the meat. It comes with small pieces of tendon, omasa tripe, tiny sliced beef balls, a quail egg, and a few slices of rare beef. They generously add vegetables, like onions, but I found lacking in aromatics like cilantro.
My favorite Pho in town!. I‘ve ate every single Pho place in Ottawa and this one is my favorite. Why you ask, well first, the broth is so fresh you can actually taste sweetness in it‘s flavor. Second, the meat to noodle ratio is about 50/50, and the meet is so well cooked it just melts in your mouth. I usually order a large, eat half at the restaurant, and take the other half home. After the broth is refrigerated it turns gelatinou, which is a sign that they use a lot of bones to make the broth, instead of just msg like other restaurants. That's the secret if you want to know if a broth is well made or not. I highly recommendations this place if you like pho.
Fresh, flavourful. Great summer rolls with fresh greens, good sauce and nice mix of noodle and meat. I had a sate soup that was equally good- fresh, juicy lime, snapping crisp sprouts and lots of broth- more meat than I eat, and lost of green herbs floating in the broth. Prefer a thinner rice noodle but thats just picky- best in Ottawa so far.

Good food at a great price.. The girlfriend and I were peckish for some good Vietnamese food, and boy was the internet ever right. Saigon Boy was an absolutely fantastic spot, nestled just shy from the entrance to Chinatown on Somerset.
We walked into the seemingly quaint little restaurant and were immediately greeted by the waiter, who promptly took our order for take-out and served us tea. We were surprised that they went out of their way to serve us complimentary oolong tea. The cute waiter participated in small talk with us, and once the food was ready both the cook and the waiter thanked us for coming and wished us a good day. Very very kind people.
I had Pork and Shrimp Rice Noodle Pho (#36) and the girlfriend had Spicy Chicken Rice Noodle Pho (#37). Arguably the best Pho we've had in Ottawa. Very authentic tasting, reminded me of the days I used to go to my Vietnamese friend's house and his mother would make us Pho for dinner.
If you find yourself in Ottawa, I implore you eat at Saigon Boy. You won't regret it.
Yummy!. This place is great. Though there are many pho places on Somerset, this is by far one of the best. It's spotless and the food is always fresh and the service great. Both the pho and vermicelli bowls are excellent. The staff is absolutely wonderful. They don't accept debit or credit card, so make sure you stop by an ATM before.
Must Go. Consistently good!! I've been going for 5 years now & I can count on it being good.
Excellent Pho. I had the beef sate with rice noodles (#38), as well as a side of vegetarian summer rolls (#4). This was the best Pho I've had in Ottawa yet, and it was all really inexpensive even as compared to other Pho joints. I look forward to returning. Cash only.
My favourite!. I am in love with Saigon Boy. The service here is always welcoming and the restaurant is very clean. I have tried several different restaurants serving pho in Ottawa and this is the one I keep coming back to. The pho broth has depth without being overly salty and the toppings are always fresh. They will also add an assortment of fresh vegetables to your pho if you ask. Try an avocado shake for a unique dessert!
Recommend to everyone I know. We have been going to Saigon Boy for about a year and will probably keep going for years to come. Their pho is probably the best you'll get in Ottawa. It's not as good as some of the places I've been to in Vancouver and Victoria but it is still really good. We make it into Ottawa about once a month and always make it a point to go eat there.
Pho is A+. I'm addicted to the Spicy Sate Beef Noodle soup (#38?) here. The broth has the right intensity and richness of flavour. My only complaint is the meat serving is somewhat small for a $9 bowl of pho. (Given all the vietnamese joints in and around Chinatown, why is Pho still so expensive in Ottawa?) Regardless, there is definitely love coming out of that kitchen. The rice and spring roll dishes I have also tried, but I go back only because of its Pho.

Huge bowls...best value for your money, and having lived in Asia for two years I can say the flavours are authenic, I'd say this is one of the best Pho places in town. Clean, modern, and authentic what more do you need?
Delicious, just perfect. Got the rare beef pho and I have 0 complaints. Preparation was quick. I asked for some extra limes on the side, and cilantro in the broth which they don’t usually put and they did it all. Will be coming back for sure
The food is always so gooood and fresh, and the service is so sweet. The owners and staff are so welcoming, and they are all as warm and wonderful as their food. A staple spot for amazing pho.
One of the best Pho restaurants I've ever tried, not just in Ottawa, but across Ontario (including Toronto). Service is always on point, very respectful and kind. Food is phenomenal!
We had a good experience at Saigon Boy. The pho we ordered was flavourful and delicious. The bbq chicken dish was also great and the portion generous. We also had the shrimp spring rolls which were ok but I wouldn’t order again. The service is great. The have booster chairs for kids.
The best place for pho in Ottawa. I have tried five places in Ottawa. This is the only one I go back. I go every month. Their pho is consistently tasty. I really like that their soup is very flavourful and all types of meat taste so good. Fresh spring rolls with grilled pork are great. Rice vermicelli with grilled pork and spring roll was great. It has a good portion of fresh shredded lettuce, cucumber, and carrot, so it tastes refreshing.
Saw they were one of the top Pho noodle houses in the golden triangle. I just moved into the area and wanted to find the best. Went over and made a special order something they don't do regularly. Within fifteen minutes I had my order to go. It was absolutly delicious. Everything was perfect. They are very polite and friendly.
