Review Big Rig Gloucester Centre - Ottawa

Our group of guys visited the restaurant on a Wednesday night so it wasn't too busy. Very spacious and clean location, lots of parking and easy access from many main roads. The staff was really friendly and provided an amazing service. The food and beers were quite good and ready fast so we didn't have to wait a long time. The only exception were the peanut butter torte that were average but nothing to put a downer on our experience. Thank you, well be back.

Food was decent. It took a lot longer than we expected since it wasn’t very busy, granted we went at a perhaps a weird time for lunch (4pm?). Staff were friendly though. I got the fish tacos, which I was initially excited about but were a bit underwhelming. The raspberry soda was good.

Came in with a large party >10 and we were all able to be seated together. Our food did take a long time to come out, which we weren’t warned about. But the killer bee burger was fantastic and their own brewed root beer was incredible.

Food was good. Waitress and service was good. Great selection of craft beers. Try the Alpha IPA! And, if you want to try something cool, tell them you want a Alpha Bongo! (Mix between Alpha & Bongo Bongo) It was really good! Seems like they also sell shirts and other stuff...

The food was pretty good and the wait wasn't too long. Overall pretty good if your in the area and want a bite to eat. One thing that stands out is its wide selection of foods. It has everything from burgers to Indian food.

What a weird experience. TLDR; great beer, decent food bad service It wasn’t too busy and we were able to be seated right away. It took over 25 minutes for anyone to see our table. We actually had to flag a staff member down and ask if they were our server (they were not) and they went to check. After another few minutes a server from the bar side came and asked if we wanted to move, so we did. Our server over here was great, ask to be seated by the bar. The food ended up being pretty okay, the pizza was probably a little heavy on the toppings and the burgers + fries were really good! Great selection of regular and seasonal beer, this is why you should come here, just don’t expect great service always.

I read quotes of negative reviews. Myself and 9 other co workers are literally here now. Our server was Katie whom is only 4 months in. The drinks we all great. 4 different cocktail pitcher's and a few of beer. Apps were all great too myself and other orders the Philly pizza and also delicious. I just want to thank them in saying they deserve better then most reviews left. Thanks for a great night guys.

Went out for dinner here based on location and Google reviews and definitely enjoyed the food and our time there. Friendly wait staff and food was great.

Here for dinner for a family occasion; party of 12. Atmosphere was good; sat in a big booth/table combo in the bar area. Service was also good; server attentive without hovering. Split a nacho appetizer with the boss; they were ok. Also split the "classic" burger for our entree. Ordered it with cheese and bacon; no bacon. Let it go, just asked that it not be left on the bill which they took care of. Burger itself was good sized with a decent sized portion of french fries on the side. Lots of comments here that praise the beer and the service but not the food. I need to be added to that list. Beer was crisp, cold and delicious. See above re server. Food however very uninspiring. I might go back for a beer and try a different munchie but probably not another main dish. If they would up their food game I think the Big Rig would be a much stronger place. When you have no one waiting and empty tables in a restaurant/bar in Ottawa at 7:00 on a Saturday night in May you have a problem.

great service great food best beer worth every cent paid will return to savour again. Don't be afraid to bring kids they cater to families with dad's and mom's who like beer. i had all you can eat ribs they fell off bone.

Dave Thomas an American restaurateur and a philanthropist once said, “It all comes back to the basic. Serve customers the best-tasting food at a good value in a clean, comfortable restaurant, and they'll keep coming back.” (thomas). A great restaurant has to meet three of my criteria’s: the Décor and atmosphere, impeccable service and cleanliness, and most importantly the food. I have had the pizza, the beef hot sandwich, quinoa salad, sweet potato fries, Southwest Fish Taco, and Pad Thai. Happy with each of these. I also enjoy the choices of the brew.
Special thanks to my favourite waiter, Shav. I always sit in his section. The best service and with a smile to boot.
The restaurant located in the Gloucester and lots of free parking.
Bus service if need be.

The service is alright but the food was awful. No desire what so ever to go back there again. You can always tell when effort is put into the food you eat. This place skips that part all together lol

A most memorable meal on Sunday, March 27, 2017 - Braised Haddock.

Nice use of spices, exactly to my liking. Server Chav was most gracious in answering and catering to our need to protect me and my guests from allergy containing foods and beverages.

Chav even checked with the Chef for my guest from Windsor about the gluten content of many of the foods served, saving her from any grief from a gluten reaction.

All three of my guests were highly pleased with the food quality and service.

The noise and music level were acceptably low to allow us to easily communicate with one another - making it a great place for 55+ folks like us.
I will certainly be returning when possible and highly recommend this restaurant for a good dining experience: not exceptional, but the best that good dining can offer.

Prices are quite reasonable and the service so good as to be worth a very generous tip.

This place has zero ambiance and tasteless food. The service was excellent and the beer was the best part of the overpriced menu. Ordered the cheeseburger and French onion soup. The soup was cold and the burger burnt with virtually no cheese and zero flavour - didn't even finish it. Won't be back.

Today we stopped in for a late lunch and ordered a pizza. At one time we would go out of our way to go and get one.But both my wife and I have found that those days are over. We ordered thin crust like always but got thick so not end of world but the taste and quality seems poorer. To be fair maybe its just our tast that may of changed bu don't think that was the case.

Two points because our server was good. She knew her stuff, was attentive and nice. Like all the other reviews about this place, food is "meh". $15 for fish tacos that used store bought salsa and frozen fish (or so it tasted) and took too long to arrive considering how empty the place was. The overall ambience of the place and the theme seemed like it was suffering an identity crisis. It gives off a cowboy vibe and craft beer vibe but sells general Tao chicken. The portions were very generous, but pricey...a Reuben sandwich for $20. Come on, Brisket isn't that expensive. I will not be going back.

This place is dreadful. The restaurant has a very strange layout and feels cold. Beer is okay, food is nothing to rave about. The signs on the outside of the restaurant are extremely tacky and look horrible, what a shame. Much better restaurant options in the area, not worth it.

Went with group from work. Really disappointed in my burger platter. Also tried the pizza which was starchy and tasteless. No ambiance or fun feel to this place. The service was the best part of this experience. Will not go back!

We had an excellent time. The service was unbelievable . The girls recommended some dishes and no mistake was made. Again tha atmosphere the service highly rated. The food was serve hot and fast and do not forget tasty and delicious. OMG they have a big menu for people with special request it is a big menu not a sheet of paper with one or two items

Well the only thing I can say excellent food sevice.

Big Rig is a spot my friends and I like to hit up quite often. The food, atmosphere, and service are all great. Reasonable prices with a large selection of beers. The servers are well versed on the types of beers and the tastes so they can give you some great suggestions if you're looking to try something new or just sticking to a classic. I would suggest trying their nachos - they definitely don't skimp you on the toppings you will be full for hours. The wings are juicy and well dressed in sauces. I had the fried calamari which could have used a bit more seasoning but we're still great.
Chantz85
Been here twice and both times they had a good selection of craft beers. We had the calamri as an appetizer and then a pizza as our main. The pizza crust was thick and there was a lot of cheese...it was flavourful. We weren't able to finish it but took the rest to go. Yes it's loud but it's a pub. Would go again.

Ogilvie location - 'Meh. Had their classic burger and was over charred and dry. Fries were like swiss chalet which is fine however $16 for a burger I would expect much more of a longer cut and double blanched. Casey's has a better burger.

Service was good but very noisy in the dining room. When speaking to the GM he stated by law we need to cook to a certain temp which is true but can still bot be dry. Also little flavor to the meat. Bun was good (YAY)

Staff is great and beer good. Also 5 of us in our party had burgers and all were dry. Chicken parm was dry. Onion soup and pizza was good.

Overall 2/5 wont eat there again. Trust me and the reviews you read.

Big Rig , Big Mistake.. We went to Big Rig East , and I was stoked cause I'm a big fan of Chris Phillips, The Sens, and Beer...perfect match right? No. The beer was great, the one I had. After my first beer the bargirl checked out. It was a corporate outing and a bunch of us were just sitting there with a menu, no food, and empty glasses. It was brutal. Literally sat there waving my menu at the batgirl and she didn't come over. Everyone got up and left and she comes over to ask if everything's ok. Um, NO. I tell her why we are leaving (cause we're hungry and thirsty and nobody here cares)Then she says there was supposed to be waitress...YA, YOU. Probably won't ever go back.

HORRIBLE. Nobody seems to know what they are suppose to be doing. The manger seems up everyones a** monitoring what they are doing 24/7. Hostesses seemed pretty pissed off at the fact that she was always there to annoy them. Waitresses and waiters don't know how to check up on their tables and seem to forget that they may have other needs. Waiting for my food was the worst part. This place is just horrible. I will never be going there again. They really need to get organized because this place will fall into pieces if not.

Beer 7.5 out of 10, food 3.98 out of 10. Brewmasters should not cook

Wow..just wow. I was super excited to try this place because I love the one near Ikea. We went on a Friday and it was in the afternoon. Terrible service and waited about 30 mins for our meal. No apologies and no follow up during our meal.

Headed over to watch the game. Place was packed but managed to get a table in a decent amount of time. Tried their Rideau Red and Gold beer. Preferred the latter. When a place has too many options on the menu, to me, that's a red flag. I therefore stuck to pub fare, nachos & wings. I liked the vegetarian nachos. Wings were disappointing. It's still nice to finally have a decent "pub" in the area.

Food was good, but my group had to wait 2 hours for our lunch. Yes 2 hours. Not sure what was wrong in the kitchen and wait staff didn't communicate sufficiently the problems.
