Visiting from the UK, we decided to take a trip to the museum and so glad we did. Polite staff, very informative exhibits, great food and lovely surroundings. Only downside is we purchased lots of souvenirs ;) from the excellent shop.
Can't say enough good things about the special programming at the Museum. My two boys (aged 3 and 5) recently had a fantastic time at the Amazing Armour event. Face painting, sword fighting and making their own armour followed by the real Iron Man armour and Captain America shield in the exhibit itself. Congrats to the learning team for consistently putting on great events for kids.
it's a great place to visit with lots to see. great way to spend the afternoon and would highly recommend it to anyone.
Incredible displays and tributes to those have fought for our country. I am so thankful I was able to have the chance to view this amazing museum and would encourage my fellow Canadians to make sure they put this on their to-do list when visiting the nations capital!
This is the most incredible museum both for its collection and even its architecture. From the somber, reflective room with the headstone of the Unknown Soldier to the awe-inspiring Le Breton Gallery with tanks, guns, and even a G-wagon that was destroyed by an IED in Afghanistan, it is truly moving and an inspiration to all. If you are planning to see only one museum in Ottawa, this should be the one.
One of the best museums that I have visited. Only intended to have a quick visit but was still there 5 hours later!
Such an amazing museum with lots of history! Definitely recommend visiting if you’re in Ottawa!!
I was there for Rememberance Day yesterday. Awesome museum. The Vimmy Ridge exhibit was spectacular. We also purchased some books from the used military section. We also went through the permanent exhibits. All in all i met a lot of veterans and had a blast.
Great staff both in the Museum and in the Library. The Library was a great help with my research. Thank you all.
An excellent display. We particularly enjoyed the medieval armour and weapons display.
What a fantastic place to learn about Canada's role in past wars. The place was clean, interactive and had many interactive exhibits. The hall full of vehicles and Armour was cool as well! It's very large so make sure you wear comfy shoes!
Its nice place. It has all the word war I and II history and few tanks they have maintained in their ground level that is very much fascinating. Do visit once if you are in Ottawa
Very interesting and informative. The only thing I would recommend is that you need 3-4 hours to see it properly. Also there is quite a bit of reading you will have to do to get the best experience
This place is wonderful. Very detailed. It covers everything from the early days of the vikings in Canada to modern day conflicts. There is old artillery, arts, medals, personal stories. Give yourself no less than 3 hours to get through it and wear comfortable shoes.
Nice place to visit …. Not sure if I will spend money to buy tickets but good place to show your children and link them to history…. They have tanks and weapons used in old time… information on all the wars soldiers fought…. We went on Canada Day so entry was free and we enjoyed it …. Took us about 2 hours ….
Beautiful, dignified, and unique tribute to Canada's military past. Facilities and exhibits are very well maintained. The array of displayed equipment is impressive.
This place is cool! Lots of war stuff! I highly recommend the lower level with the tanks, submarine, torpedoes, armored personnel carriers, motorcycles, cannons, guns and plane! The rest of the place is very well laid out, but has a LOT of text boards and not so many artifacts. Worth the trip!
My family went to Ottawa. This was our first stop! My kids were so amused! I didn't think they would enjoy it at all... but let me tell you we were there for 4 hours and they still didn't want to leave. It's definitely worth checking out.
