Great Ambience!!!!!!! Food was good, I went with my wife ,we ordered only veg though.....Paneer Masala curry was really good here..... The Naan was crispy and soft..
My husband and I always get takeout. We travel 20 minutes to pick it up and by the time we get it home the food is still hot. The portions are very generous and we always have leftovers. Great service, very polite staff. Absolutely the best naan bread- so big and fresh!
My new favourite Indian restaurant in Ottawa. Amazing vindaloo: decent lingering spice without being overpowering. Fantastic attentive service and great ambiance in this cozy spot.
This place is great, both for sit-down and for takeout. The restaurant is such a nice little place that's always so welcoming and tidy, and anyone who's ever served me here has been so friendly. The food is absolutely great and the portions are incredible for the prices here. My go-to Indian restaurant in Ottawa.
One of my favourite restaurants! Service is always fantastic. Servers remember you and and always make you feel special. Food is bursting with flavour! So delicious. Cute and intimate atmosphere. Have been to Haldi at least 10 times and will never disappoint!
Fantastic place! The servers were super sweet and the food was great. The service was a little slow and the Naan didn't come with our entrée, but overall it was great.
One of my absolute favourite places to go. Amazing service and friendly staff. I always feel welcomed and the decor is very warm. The food is great with a lot of spice and the portions are very reasonable! My favourite Indian restaurant!
Really nice experience!. Everything about this delivery experience was pleasant. The deliveryman was great, the food was great (except the bhaji was a little dry). Best garlic naan I've had in Ottawa.
Fair warning: hot dishes here (we had vindaloo and Madras curry) are considerably hotter than most hot dishes we've had at local Ottawa/Thai places. This was perfect for our needs, but should be mentioned!
Excellent food, excellent price, excellent service... Very pleased!!!! Staff is really nice and the food is delicious for a great price :)
Best Indian Food in Ottawa. I have tried most of the Indian restaurants in Ottawa and not one of them can come close to the quality of food which is served by Haldi. They have a unique twist on the conventional Indian dishes that make it fun and exciting while remaining true to the dish.
When I go to a restaurant I go to experience the art of cuisine. The passion for quality and uniquely artistic, flavourful, accents to the dishes make Haldi an experience worth repeating.
The owners are extremely polite, and social people. They will accommodate your food requests without a fuss. I have never been in a restaurant in Ottawa that was so eager to make sure that I enjoyed my meal.
The food is great and I actually feel good the next day.
Best Indian Cuisine in Ottawa. In my opinion this is the best restaurant for Indian food in Ottawa.
As someone who grew fond of Indian cuisine while living in England, I have found it difficult to find a similar gastro experience in Canada. The search is over. My girlfriend and I have now enjoyed Haldi's food three times and have yet to be disappointed by anything on the menu. Whether it's the spicy Zindaloo or the more subdued vegetable curry, the Haldi chef does not disappoint. The cozy atmosphere, friendly staff and Mill Street beers all feel like just bonuses after enjoying such a great meal.
I highly recommend anyone looking for great Indian cuisine in Ottawa stop in.
This place is so cute. Really good value for money with generous portion sizes. The couple that owns it are really nice and came out ask about how we found them. You can peer into the kitchen and see the array of spices they use. The dhansak was delicious and the naan and chiapatti were truly authentic. It's a family business that has done a great job.
Amazing authentic food. A friend and I decided to try Haldi and we were ever impressed. This restaurant is a must try if you like authentic Indian food. We ordered the butter chicken, lamb vindaloo, veg. samosa's and naan/rice. Everything was cooked and flavoured perfectly. Butter chicken was a different take on the dish with a sweetness to it. If you have a cold order the vindaloo (very spicy), it will clean you out. The spice was a good spice though, very flavourful while having a good kick. Also the veg samosas were delicious and plated very nicely with a small salad, certainly worth the couple dollars they charge.
All in all this restaurant did not disappoint and the staff were very attentive and friendly. The resto is very small so make reservations or you may not get in on a weekend. They do take-out though.
Fantastic Indian food, reasonable price. Ordered take-out for dinner, and it was fantastic. Crispy onion bhaji, delicious fresh naan, spicy and flavourful chicken madras, and tasty saag paneer. Not bland and North-Americanised like some. Highly recommended!
Among the best Indian food I've ever had. Chicken Korma, onion bhaji, mixed vegetable curry, chicken dopiaza, vegetable rice, and naan. All very flavourful, generous portions, and reasonably priced. Prompt, very friendly service. Two notes: One chillie spiced dishes are a little hotter than at most Indian restaurants, and it's a small restaurant. Or maybe it's just cozy :-)
If you like Indian food, you'll love Haldi.
Amazing food! Their lunch menu is such an amazing deal and everything tastes delicious!
Delicious Indian and Great Value. Haldi Indian Cuisine is a family-owned restaurant that recently opened in Little Italy. The people are so niceeeee there—our server was the owner of the place and she was very friendly.
We ordered the dinner for 2 B, which consisted of an assorted appetizer platter, three different curry dishes, basmati rice, naan, and a chai rice pudding dessert. We also ordered a mango lassi.
Everything was so good! We were consistently impressed with all the dishes we were served. The butter chicken is interesting because it is sweet, unlike many other butter chickens we have tried at other Indian restaurants. It was a refreshing change of pace.
If you get a chance, try out some of their spicy dishes. They make their own hot sauce with habanero peppers and boy, does it kick! There are many different levels of heat and you can inform your server of your spicy tolerance. They will be more than happy to customize your dish for you.
The service was very attentive, and our water was always full.
It's a cute little place, and if possible try to make a reservation because it is very popular! Make sure to give Haldi Indian Cuisine a try—highly recommended!
Spent: $50 for dinner.
Amazing food, cozy ambiance and excellent service.
THE BEST!. Tonight we picked up the dinner for two (option B) and it was delicious! Tasted like a home cooked meal. Great price with lots of leftovers! Some of the takeout Indian places I have tried around here are waaay to salty, and I found that all the dishes had just the right amount. On top of the awesome food the staff were super welcoming and friendly on the phone. Will for sure make this my new spot
Amazing Indian Food!. My wife and I tried Haldi last night. Went in with zero expectations, and were blown away! The service was great, it's a family run business and they all genuinely care and want you to have an enjoyable experience. The atmosphere was nice, and the food was excellent. We had samosas with lamb Korma and Chicken Dhansak. The Naan was some of the best I've ever had. Everything was very reasonably priced and portions gave us enough to enjoy for lunch the next day. At the end of the night the chef even came out to ask us how everything was. This doesn't happen enough these days. We will be going back again for sure.
Best $13 I've spent in a while. $13 for a pint of Millstreet and a curry (plus a little salad). What a great deal. Great service, friendly staff and great food too! Veggie Vindaloo is great for extreme spice lovers!
Little India. Preston might be Little Italy to some, but after dinner at Haldi's you might need to change your maps.
Tucked into the brightest little restaurant on the strip, Haldi offered friendly warm service, deliciously prepared and presented food, and generous pours of wine!
And best of all, in keeping with the theme, the bill was pretty small too.
Definitely worth a repeat visit.
What a great little restaurant with friendly service. Two of us when there for dinner and shared one of the dinner meals for two. The staff was accommodating in substituting one of the entrees for a curry. The madras chicken curry was fantastic.spicy but delicious. The vegetables and lamb were great too. The dinner for two also came with a sampling of 4 or so appetizers, naan bread and dessert. All for t! Go now!
Tasty, quick, cheap, YAY!. I work near Preston and am always looking for good lunch options. I was happy when I got back from vacation and saw that an East Indian place had opened just around the corner from me. I am sitting at my desk right now finishing up the Saag Paneer (a favourite with the ladies, according to the menu, LOL) and it was very tasty.
For $8 I got a salad, the curry and basmati rice. Service was quick and very polite. The curry itself was tasty - not at all greasy - and some of the better Saag Paneer I've had.
I'll definitely be visiting again (and again, and again) for lunch. Menu offers a really nice variety, so I'll update as I try more dishes!
A few vegetarian options. The appetizers were quite small for the price. I liked the paneer massala the best. The gulab jamun desserts are delicious.
It was our first time at Haldi's but it won't be our last. The food was authentic Indian cuisine, fresh and flavorful. It's a small restaurant tastefully decorated. Service was great thanks to Fatima.
We had chicken korma, chicken tiki masala, saag paneer and naan bread.
Came to visit Ottawa and came across this wonderful restaurant. I usually am quite skeptical of indian food for its flavours because of my past experiences but I really enjoyed this place. Had the Taag/Saag chicken I think and my boyfriend had the plain chicken currry. Both of them had such rich flavours! Definitely would love to go back again. Server was very friendly as well.
The food is unbelievable and sooo much! The waitress was so kind and it might be the best Indian food I've found in Ottawa. Feels like someone's house with a great atmosphere and intimate setting.
Delicious food - everything is fragrant, flavourful and generous portions. The restaurant is small and cozy so make sure to book if you want a seat!
We came here to visit Jasper from Toronto and searched for this restaurant and tried with family.
The food was amazing, tasty and fresh and the service was great too.
If you are near must visit
Chicken curry
Biryani
Palak paneer
Manchurian
Noodles and Garlic Naan
Everything was great.
This gem of a place has been around for 5 years and I am ashamed to admit, this was my first visit. That said - it won’t be my last!
The food (what we ordered) was delicious and more than enough to satisfy 4 people. There were leftovers!
On top of the great food, the service was attentive and friendly!
