Review Madisons Restaurant & Bar - Ottawa

Excellent food and attentive service. When my husband and I first moved to the downtown area 4 years ago, we went to this restaurant and it has been our favourite spot since then. The food and service are consistently amazing. Whenever we have guests from out of town, we take them here, because we know they won't be disappointed. The portions are generous, food is prepared with skill, and the service is friendly and attentive.

Friendly staff and speady service. We were seated right away, and served withen a very timely manner. I had a 8oz top sirloin steak, loaded potato, mushrooms and fresh vegetables . The steak was cooked correctly and had the right amount of flavor on it. The potato was by far the best baked potato I've ever had, The crust on it was just perfect and the potato was huge! The vegetables and mushrooms were cooked and seasoned perfectly as well.🙂👍

Special thanks to Marina for the great service. We had a perfectly cooked top sirloin with super sweet fresh beans. Salmon tartar was heavenly but more appetizer than main. Side-salad was as big as the main dish. Prime Rib au Jus sandwich was delicious and came with a huge portion. Artichoke dips best in its class unfortunately used bagged chips. Music is amazing and great atmosphere for a date night. A must location for the steak alone.

Great service and the food was very good. You can park in the Minto Tower parking and get it validated at the restaurant so free parking which is amazing for downtown Ottawa. We will be back for sure!

The seafood linguin was good, but the sauce could be elevated with some heat and more spices. Overall ok, but I would never get it again. The ribs and steak looked more appealing.

April 15, 2022 - This was my 2nd visit to Madisons and everything exceeded my expectations on this visit. We received a warm greeting at at the front entrance, a server who not only knew her job well she also seemed to really enjoy it. The food quality and quantity were above average and helped make the whole experience excellent. We will definitely be back. Favourites on the menu for us are the salmon tartare appetizer, Caesar salad and the yellowfin tuna steak. Dec 31, 2021I was pleasantly surprised when I called the day before New Years and was able to get a reservation. This was my first time to this restaurant and I would go back. When we arrived our table was not ready and there were several others waiting as well. No big deal, it was NYE and things happen. Our server suggested a special NYE cocktail of Prosecco with Champagne which sounded like a strange combination however we figured why not. When the cocktails arrived they were a dark pink colour with a marachino cherry (ick) and not what was described by the server. We sent them back and ordered the Joel Gott cab sauv which was rich and delightful. Our server was super helpful with menu selection and we decided to share the caesar salad as well as the salmon tartar. Both were tasteful and well prepared. For our mains, we both chose the yellowfin tuna steak which took a very long time to arrive however we were enjoying the wine and atmosphere so we were not too bothered by it and our server kindly offered us fresh rolls ( after the first ones that were brought to us were rock hard). When they did finally arrive the tuna looked completely different from one plate to the other in that mine was a brownish colour and my dinner companions was the pinkish/red colour you would expect. I brought it to the attention of our server who took them away from the table and then brought them back with the manager shortly after. The manager had a detailed explanation as to why it was that way and so ( with hesitancy) we kept our plates. I took a couple of small bites and all I could taste was fish which is not how tuna is supposed to taste. The server again gave an explanation regarding the tuna telling me it was actually fresher than the other and perhaps that was how come it tasted fishy?! Anyways, she kindly took it back and offered me a replacement which I declined as time was getting on. In the end, there was enough on my dinner companions plate for us to share however not really the point. So, a few blips for sure however I would be willing to give it another try.

This place has a very nice indoor and outdoor seating. The staff are welcoming and trying to serve you the best they can. Prices are above the average but you will get a premium service. I recommend their steak 🥩 but make sure to order a well done as mine was undercooked.

Great food! Awesome ambiance! Amazing staff and very professional! The owners are amazingly friendly and always welcome you with a smile! Definitely would recommend for any occasion! The burgers are to.die for and their mains are delightfully tasty and well balanced between flavor portions and quality and healthy' A landmark to visit in Ottawa

Best steak I've had in my life. Enjoyed every bite. The cesars also have an amazing flavor. Will be coming back soon, came with a friend for a bite and drink before going out, but can definitely bring a date, or friends and family here. Great environment. Very, very pleased with last night. Again, compliments to the chef on the best steak I've ever had.

The food was excellent with the extra mile clearly taken buy the guys in the kitchen. The service was also fantastic, fast and friendly. Highly recommend Madison's for anyone downtown in O town

Had a great time celebrating a family birthday...food was wonderful..staff was welcoming and attentive. One of the owners even stopped by the table to thank us for coming and to add his best wishes...would wholeheartedly recommend

I Went by there last night and enjoyed the experience, the food, and the ambiance, at a reasonable price that won't break the bank. It's an ideal place to wine and dine with your friends, the food and service was great, and the jazz band added a really classy touch, with all of its toe tapping favourites, that left you wanting to get up and dance. I will be back...

This has become my go-to resto. The staff are friendly & knowledgeable. The owner is hands-on. The food is good and they have a decent array of daily specials.

Went to lunch with my friend Chris today. Had the most amazing ribs that were finger licking and Chris had an Excellent burger. Would recommend Madison's to anyone. And by the way our server Sarah was fantastic. Go to Madison's soon.

The ambience and service were good but the restaurant is a bit overpriced for the food served. If the price were lower it would be quite acceptable or if they keep the price the same but increased the quality of the food, that would be alright too. At the moment, there is a bit of a disconnect.

I go to Madison's for the service, the people are amazing and the service is second to none. Their food is also the best as I cherish their steaks, ribs, and let's not forget their all-you-can-eat mussels night! Come for the great food but return because of the service!

We tried Madisons because we love live jazz and the trio last night was great. Our server was friendly and helpful and the food was very good. My husband and I had steaks and they were perfectly cooked. I had the stuffed potato which was delicious and large (had the leftover for brunch this morning). My husband was disappointed with the French Fries which he thought were frozen. Our daughter had the lobster mac and cheese which she said, was delicious. My husband and I had the chowder which was very good, thick and creamy, but light on the sea food. The desserts are very good ( had the Brownie, large and homemade-I had to bring most of it home) and our daughter had the blueberry cheesecake which was very good. Overall, a very good experience and we will be back for more jazz.

What a nice experience last night at Madisons Restaurant. Great and relaxing music, the best service and food was truly really good. And , prices were perfect.

Its the place i go every friday. Love the staff and the food is awesome, and at a great price. The owners are so involved and caring. I love it .

Excellent food!!! We go hear often as it is close to home. We have always had a great experience! The waiter was awesome (Dean), and very helpful in choosing the right dish! Lots of options on variations of side dishes if you ask. Great atmosphere, beautiful place for anything from a business lunch to a evening date. They also validate parking (indoor).
