Review Gelatini Gelato - Ottawa

Friendly staff, and generous portions. They don't rush you even when it's busy. The owner was present when we were there and she was super friendly and personable. Tried the following: Choc chip brownie -- excellent Hazelnut -- very good Mango -- good The flavors selection isn't very big, but the taste, service, and portions are fantastic.

Maybe it's because of the quarantine but this place really didn't meet expectations. The inside of the store felt like a sauna and they only had five flavours. The flavours weren't even that good-- cookies tasted artificial, the cherry flavour was way too strong and tasted like medicine, the vegan chocolate was nice, and the lemon was ok

Great place for gelato! We go all the time.

The staff are great and the gelato is delicious. They're also open late which is awesome. Just in case people don't know, you can call them a day ahead and request a specific flavour like the bacon maple one which is such unbelievably Canadian deliciousness. I'm drooling just thinning about it.

Great customer service. The girl working was super friendly and professional. Hands down some of the best gelato I have ever had. The pistachio and lemon gelato are the real deal. I advise not getting a large serving of the lemon for yourself because they definitely use real lemon in that and it does get quite sour!

Situated in the heart of Little Italy, this cute little shop is a good place to grab gelato if you're in the area. I'm not sure if there was something wrong with the refrigeration that day but unfortunately for us, the gelato was melting right out of the case. Coupled with the hot weather that day and the lack of air conditioning, it made for a pretty messy affair. I didn't find the flavours too exciting - I got Hazelnut and Skor. However, what really stood out to me here was the generosity and service. I appreciated that when I was struggling to decide between two flavours, the staff member quickly offered, without me asking, to give me both flavours. As well, while many gelato places I've been to often give you a tiny cupful, Gelatini Gelato offered a generous over-the-top helping. While it may not have been the best I've ever had, it's a good bang for your buck and is worth visiting if you're in the area and are craving gelato.

My favorite gelato place in all of Ottawa, great refreshing taste, good portion size and good accessible location for passing through Little Italy and it's all for a reasonable price. Staff are kind and more often than not bilingual.

This place has the best pistachio gelato. I'm also a big fan of the London Fog and mango flavours. The staff was friendly and helpful. Highly recommended.

FOOD:
We had come here on a Monday afternoon at around 5:30 pm for a quick gelato. I had settled on a Large Chocolate Gelato In A Cone ($7.34), as I am a huge chocolate fan. The taste of it was quite good however, I would have liked if there was more gelato in the cone as the gelato didn't seem enough considering the cone was very large. I did enjoy the variety of flavours that were available, along with the promise that the gelato was made in-house.

ATMOSPHERE:
This little shop was situated in Little Italy, which had a number of stairs going to the front door, making it impossible for people with strollers (such as myself) to get to. Once inside, I noticed the shop was very small, and the seating wasn't convenient for someone who had a stroller. Also, it wasn't decorated very nicely, it looked like a shop that only just opened. I would have loved to see more décor related to the gelato theme, which would have been nice to see.

SERVICE:
I was served by a kind younger woman, whom seemed pleasant enough during my visit. She didn't do anything out of the ordinary to make my visit a memorable one. However, I was impressed with the fact that this location had email billing, which was much more convenient than having to carry around a bill in my purse for hours on end. I had to sit outside and eat the cone, and there were no napkins on the table, which was inconvenient as I needed them while I was eating.

COST:
1 Large Chocolate Gelato In A Cone: $6.50 + Tax = $7.34

WOULD YOU RETURN?
I found the pricing to be a bit too high for what I received, and the atmosphere wasn't to my liking.

What a cute little
Place. The two staff members were very friendly and helpful with recommending flavors. Loved my gelato and so did my daughter!

I visited for my second time and again thoroughly enjoyed the gelato. Between this place and Stella Luna Gelato Café, Ottawa has some really great gelati!

Only place to get PERFECT pistachio gelato. This place is a gem, anyone who thinks they know pistachio gelato, doesn't know what it tastes like till they try this place. I've had Stella lunar and Spin's pistachio ice cream, Gelatini still beats both of them (although the others come a close second.) There were times when they run out because it sells the most, this one time, the owner asked me if I was willing to wait half an hour for a new batch to be made (an employee had just finish shelling a big batch of pistachios), and of course I was!

Their pistachio gelato is my definition of happiness. No other ways to describe it, the little bits of pistachio is at just the right ratio, so that its not too crunchy, the texture and flavour is so smooth, I can eat endless amounts of it.

Their hours get shorter as the season gets colder, and because I don't live anywhere near their location, I don't frequent there as often as I'd like. But if i ever find myself in Little Italy, this is where I make sure to stop by.

Gelato is definitely not ice cream. Sad, but true, but Gelatini does have a wonderful, and changing, selection of delicious gelato available. I like that the selection available changes throughout the day, and you can pre-order your favourites, buy by the half litre or litre, they will even custom make your favourite. The only sad bit is that it is not in walking distance of my work or home (maybe this is a good thing) and that recently they have a terribly unreliable refrigerator/freezer repairman who keeps blowing them off, leading to a slightly smaller than usual selection.

Finally Ottawa gets great gelato!. Gelatini on Preston is amazing with very interesting flavours...some that change seasonally. They have only about 20 flavours but who needs more when every flavour is fresh and tastes homemade - I concur with the vote for pistachio, amazing - and grape, blueberry, coconut, yum....I also just tried tomato & feta gelato - unique! And, the spinach & lemon - YUM! Very tasty.$4 for a small and $6 for a large - but finally a gelato in Ottawa that's worth the price.

Best & Freshes Gelato in Ottawa. I was reading through the Ottawa Magazine online and heard that this place has the best Pistachio Gelato in Ottawa. In talking with the owners they say that they manually de-shell each Pistachio and mix it in. No paste or premade ingredients. Man, were they right. The gelato is no plentiful like at Stella Luna or at Pure Gelato, but the small amount of Gelato that they make is not only tasty but the best I have ever had. It has the texture of almost soft ice cream with fresh ingredients. I love this place and would add it to my guide of Ottawa soon. HIGHLY RECOMMEND. It is about 5 for a large and 3.50 for a small.
