Review Ottawa Bagelshop And Deli - Ottawa

The freshest bagels and incredible selection of bagel sandwiches. Both breakfast and lunch options. I love the variety of options for cheese, deli meats and ingredients you can find at this shop. Dine in opened back up today and it was so lovely to see!

I usually enjoy coming to this shop for bagels when I’m in town. But I’m sitting on the train back home and bought a salmon cream cheese bagel for dinner, opened the package to find…no salmon. Pretty disappointed and too far away to do anything about it. Love the slice of lemon for the minimal amount of cream cheese and dill. Thanks.

Great food and atmosphere! Perfect for a weekend morning! Service was relatively quick and structured for a busy Sunday!

I’m a regular at this bagelshop. My friend and I went, I had the halloumi while my friend had the eggcellent. They were very generous with the ingredients and the staffs were very friendly. The bagels are made in-house so they are extremely fresh and soft. They also had the hot apple cider available this season and it was really good, they don’t add any sugar so it was not too sweet and just the right amount of tarte, highly recommend if it is available.

Got some tasty fresh made bagels and our daughters had bagel sandwiches which were extremely fresh, loaded with generous portions of the fillings they chose-one was ham and the other egg. Veggies on the bagel sandwiches were super fresh and delicious. Can't say enough about these AWESOME bagel sandwiches. And the staff was extremely friendly and welcoming.😃 Super selection of cheeses, meats, jams, BBQ sauces, pastries and bitters for mixing cocktails. A real gem in Westboro!!!!!!!

Love this place! Their bagels are to die for plus they have a wide range of other goodies! From caviar to chocolate and everything in between! Helpful, polite staff and a very clean store! The Ottawa Bagelshop and Deli's "everything" bagel are scrumptious! My fave! Plus their get 12 for the price of 6 just around closing time has got me hooked!

Love this shop. I've been coming here since the 90s and it's still the best place in Ottawa for fresh bagels

What more could you ask for, hand made fresh out of the wood smoked oven bagels made into an amazing bagel sandwich of your choice.. they have amazing fresh food.. great selection.. nice staff. Very clean.. stop on into this place if your in this part of Ottawa and grab a bite to eat.

They are the best bagels in town! I love to pick up a bag of warm sesame seed bagels, which are our favourite, and then eat one straight out of the bag on the way home - yum! It's hard to resist the amazing smell.

Great food!!! Also love Corrie's patio! ❤️ thanks always a favourite stop for lunch!!

Very busy on a Sunday lunch. Bagelsub meals were great! Cheese was forgotten on one order but portioning was good with lots of meat in the sandwiches

Once again bagels cooked right in front of you with very few options if you are allergic to sesame! But the deli and cheese store has options... awesome sandwiches especially the Reuben!! Very yummy ... but still don't understand the obsession with sesame in this part of the world! Also how can you be a deli and not have the white or sour bread as an option! Overall great food .. but not for ones with allergies!

Today I stopped in for lunch and had a delicious smoked meat sandwich on light rye along with a double Americano. It was so perfect that I was tempted to have it all a second time. Conditions were also perfect with sunshine, a comfortable red chair in a quiet corner and excellent, friendly service. Thank you for a wonderful time interluded on a busy day. With appreciation. Nice enough spot-------------warm friendly -good service-

Deli section, grocery area, and staff are all excellent!

Since when do customers have to ask for a plastic bag for bagels and why did I get 300 grams of beef when I asked for 100grams? Customer service experience stinks!

Great food

Wow! and Wow again...so impressed with the wonderful personal service and the kindness at the bagel shop this morning as staff members helped me find gluten free products for my 89 year old mother-in-law's birthday. You made my visit a memorable experience, aside from the fact that you continue to make the best bagels I have ever tasted :) Special thanks to the manager who made sure my every need was met. Marvelous.

Awesome everything. Love that place!

A shoutout to the older gentleman who, when I put my other items back on the shelf after being told my bagel order would take 30 mins to prepare, loudly accused me of shoplifting as I walked out the door to run other errands. Not only will I not be coming back for my order, I don't think I'll ever be coming back again. Merry Christmas to you as well.

Truly my favorite Reuben in town. Service is quick

I love coming here for lunch. You can choose a variety of sandwich options on whatever bagel you like. There's usually a buffet of some salads and hot items. I also usually end up wandering through the store and picking up fun food items to cook with at home.

This place is a classic. It's not the most amazing bagels in the world but if you're in Ottawa you've got to try it. For 3.25$ you get a fresh toasted bagel with a generous amount of cream cheese, what more could you want?

Mediocre bagels, don't compare to NY bagels! If you're interested in giving them a try just go into it with low expectations. Don't recommend.

High quality bagels. Certainly steeper prices than Tim Hortons, but you are getting a much higher quality product than Tim Horton's. The Vegetarian bagel is to die for! Crispy bagels made with interesting combinations of meat, veggies and sauces. Fancy bagels, yes, but so worth it.

Good breakfast , very good ham portion. A bit pricey for 2 eggs ,ham, potatoes, bagel and coffee only one cup 10.95
The place is clean and you are not being push out on a Sunday morning. Lots of room

You want a Montreal-style bagel? You got a Montreal-style bagel! Now some of you may be wondering, "Bagels have styles?" Well, my dear readers, you're in for a knowledge treat. The bagel you find at Dunkin' Donuts or the equivalent kind of chain in the United States/ Canada will most likely be of the New York-style. How do you know? Much like a New-Yorker, this donut is going to be big on the outside, but soft and fluffy on the inside (how's that for a sweeping generalization?). Montreal-style bagels are more like snowflakes or Bertucci's pizzas- each one is a different size and shape. In terms of flavor, Montreal-style bagels are a bit sweet and compared to their fluffy bread-thren they're denser in consistency. Which do I prefer? I actually like the NY bagel better because it has more surface area for things like sandwich meats or peanut butter...

Read more on my blog. Link posted below.

I went and tried one of their bagel breakfast sandwiches, and for the price, it was definitely not worth it. Was it good? Absolutely, it's pretty hard to screw up a breakfast sandwich though. Was it also crazy expensive for an egg, a bagel, a slice of cheese, and 2 slices of bacon? Absolutely.

That being said, however, buying a half a dozen bagels and having them disappear in a day is a pretty telling sign that these are some great bagels. I'd avoid their 'cafe' section, and treat this place as a bakery instead, and buy stuff to take home.

I don't often eat bagels, but when I do, this is the place I specifically go for them.

My family has been getting bagels and the salmon cream cheese from the bagel shop since I was a kid. They are so ridiculously good they will ruin you for all other bagels. Ask for the hot ones and get the salmon cream cheese you will thank me even if it's a bit expensive. The bagels are so good you'll be munching on them without the cream cheese and loving every minute.

I've only been here once but I have to say their bagel sandwiches are delicious and filling. It's a great place stop by for lunch with plenty of seating and a nice selection of chocolates, pastries and other food for sale.

Excellent Bagels. We go to the Ottawa Bagel every week for breakfast, driving from Barhaven the BLT is always excellent. We have tried many things from the cheeses to the deserts have never been disappointed. The staff are friendly and the coffee is second to none. Highly recommend for breakfast, lunch or dinner. The new item are homemade donuts on week-ends only you must go and try them I have never tasted anything that good.

Canned chicken for $8?!!. I went here with my aunt a month or two ago because we wanted to have a fun lunch while we visited some of the shops. I ordered 'The Finesse' which is listed as a bagel with Chicken salad, basil sauce, Swiss Cheese, lettuce, and tomatoes. The chicken was so awful, it tasted like the cheapest canned chicken you can buy. Actually, when we sat down at the table, my aunt asked, 'Did you order tuna?'. lol. For some reason, my plate came with garnish that included few black olives and some cherry tomatoes. The olives were old. They left such a bad taste in my mouth that it soured anything I ate afterwards. Why bother adding fancy extras if they ruin the meal? The last thing I want to rant about was more of an annoyance but still frustrating. At the cash, I asked the girl to ring in two coffees and two bagels. I paid my total and then she gave me one cup. I said to her, ' You only gave me one cup' and she huffed 'Only one of those meals comes with a free coffee. I'll have to ring you in for the second one.' I didn't even know one of the bagels came with free coffee, but why was she angry when I had told her beforehand I wanted two coffees regardless. If you want a decent bagel, I recommend going to your local coffee chains over this place.

The best bagels in Ottawa and more!. I recently visited the Ottawa Bagel Shop and Deli with my kids and I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of food and the extensive product selection available. The store had undergone extensive renovations and provided a creative atmosphere through their support of local artwork on-site. The buffet offered a great selection of hot food and I was able to custom order my coffee from the coffee bar. I noticed that lunchtime clientele could also enjoy a cold beer with their meal if desired. If you have not visited the Bagelshop recently, it is worth a visit.

Great buffet. I was introduced to this place in the early spring and fell in love with the food. I have only eaten the buffet food. I find that there is good choice for a small buffet and food is very tasty, Vegetables are not over cooked and have great color. I had cabbage rolls and enjoyed those, Quiche was really good, Penne with mushrooms was like eating in an expensive Italian restaurant. I really enjoy going there for the buffet. My only complaint is that the buffet is sold by weight and it can get expensive.
If you have the quiche they have this paper thing under it you have to remove because you can't eat it!

Bagels were good and the filling was overflowing. Hubby had the salami bagel, which he enjoyed. I had the roasted veggie bagel, which was okay. It was very sour from the pickled veggies. Will try the smoked salmon next time.

Where was the bagel?. Went with my wife. We each had a what some would call a bagel. There was lots of meat but no bagel. I think Tim Hortons bagels are bigger...actually the bagels at Tim Hortons are bigger. The food was good, but for the price totally unreasonable. For a bagel shop you expect a bagel not a round pretzel. Disappointing.

I Completely agree with everything the previous commenter wrote - glorified cafeteria and poor management style - the prices are very expensive too - a small lasagna jumped from 5.95 to 6.95 to 9.95 in two months - this doesn't really make for loyal customers.

Overpriced Cafeteria. The Bagel Shop restaurant is a glorified cafeteria, which is outdated and desperately needs a fresh look. The food is decent but expensive, and the prices keep increasing while the quality does not. A bagel sandwich runs about 10$, and that doesn't include a side dish. Moreover, the owner doesn't seem to have a problem disrespecting and humiliating his staff in front of his customers. The only redeeming aspect of this restaurant is the friendly service at both the coffee bar and deli, but sadly it's not enough to retain my business.

Best bagels in the city. The prices keep going up and the bagels keep getting smaller. A dozen bagels used to fill the bag to the brim - not anymore.
Foodgal
Best bagels in town (better than Kettleman's). Always fresh. Friendly service too.

Very good, but also very pricey. The restaurant portion does serve quite a variety of bagel based sandwiches, all of which are very good, but the price that you pay is a bit eye watering for what you get. It is kind of neat to have a restaurant in a former church, which was a former house.

This was our favorite breakfast hang out when we lived in the neighbourhood, and we return a few times a year. The bagels are wonderful, the deli side has a great assortments to take home and there a couple of comfy sofas in the dining section to read the paper and enjoy your meal. On the downside it is quite pricey for what you get and the coffee is okay but weak. Also there is a substantial extra charge if you request maple syrup for the kids pancakes, I think it is a dollar- and it is a fairly small portion. All that said, I miss waking up and smelling the wood ovens and we will definitely continue to visit- on occassion!

Delicious place for lunch, never had breakfast there, but i've had more than 10 lunches there in the past month. Great service, SOME friendly staff... There are one or two trumps there. And assorted snacks and candy and treats. My favourite place! If you havn't yet, go check It out!

Inventive sandwiches and great breakfast. Yummm!

Montreal style bagels and asorted deli. Good buffet for lunch.

Best bagels around, period! Wood fired oven. Try the cranberry lemon.

I love this place! Great bagels and wonderful breakfasts.

This place is good, cookies, sammies, service, atmosphere, just don't get the cake, because it is in the same case as everything else and so it tastes like garlic
Food Gypsy
Unlike the New York-style bagel, a Montreal bagel is sweeter and slightly smaller, the hole in the center is larger and dough is more dense, but most importantly it’s always baked in a wood-fired oven. Made with flour, malt and egg, the dough is poached in honey-water before being baked, to give them that chewy soft center. The two most common varieties are black-seed (poppy seed), or white-seed (sesame seed).

This morning's breakfast for the mister looked simple enough but when you get to know the ingredients, they are a few stories worthy of being told. I started with his most favourite bagel - sesame. This treat came from the Ottawa Bagelshop on Wellington A

Dear Readers, I have a confession to make. I love jam. I mean, I really really love jam. I'm almost as obsessed with jam as I am with Hello Kitty. In fact, I have six essential food groups: rice, noodles, eggs, fruits, Pascale's ice cream, and jam. That p
