Review Siam Bistro Thai Restaurant - Ottawa

Katie Chen
Very good, would definitely dine here again. Some dishes were not as spicy as I would have imagined but there is always an option to add more spice to the dish. Our server was extremely attentive and amazing. She noticed that my mother was not drinking any of iced water and went out of her way to bring her hot water (water of choice). Great service, pleasant decor/atmosphere and great food!

First time since Covid...nicely renovated. Stirfry basil shrimp with rice was too sweet as usual. Previously asked the waitress to tell chef to make it less sweet but was told that's the chef's style and many customers ask for the same but the chef sticks to his usual way of cooking. Coconut spicy soup with shrimps was wonderful. Chicken pad thai (lunch) was surprisingly filling...wonder what kind of oil they used. The lunchtime waitress was impolite and blunt which made the lunch experience less pleasant.

This place is so great. Staff is also really friendly and kind. Thai food is pretty good, delicious and orginal. Cooking by real Thai chef, and their prices it’s 100% worth it. Highly recommend!

The food is delicious, and the customer service is terrific. Curries are excellent, and so are the soups, more to try! It is a small business, and they take care of each customer. Small venue, so be patient the food is worth it. Quality ingredients and love the food. Happy they are gluten friendly.

Ordered veggie green curry and a veggie red panang w spring roll & chicken satay for my husband....sauces average, veggies were mushy but very limited to bamboo & eggplant mush in the green curry... disappointing

My new favourite Thai place. Simply put the food is amazing, highly recommend the Pad Khing. In addition to never disappointing my taste buds, the service is impeccable. Even when picking up an order to go, I’m always met with a warm smile and genuine greeting and thanks.

We had a great takeout experience, so thank you! Customer service was friendly and efficient, food was so flavourful and well prepared. We had the Pa-Nang with beef, Green curry with chicken and Pad Thai. Like a lot of others here, we’ll be back soon!

Well pre Covid.. it was one of the best Thai restaurant in town. Foods were great and portions were large. I went back last week and I was so disappointed. Must have changed the chef or something. The food was blah.. i got 4 small shrimps in my overly sweetened Pad Thai. My friend's curry dishes were just ok. So disappointed.

Fantastic food. I recommend this place if you want good Thai food

The best and it's only about 3 blocks from where I live

Went for some awesome thai food last night with my son - it was really, really good! Priced well for the good size portions and excellent service. (we even ended up taking some home!) 4.5 stars - highly recommend. Good atmosphere for a smaller restaurant. PS - when they say extremely spicy, they mean it!

Amazing.

Terrible service: late service, rude server, when asked to speak with manager, they said there was no manager and I had to return tomorrow to talk to the owner!

Located Ottawa’s trendy Wellington Village neighborhood, Siam Bistro is my new favorite restaurant. If you love exotic Thai flavours, this is the place for you!<br/> <br/>The moment we pull open the restaurant door, we were warmly met in the red entryway amidst a delightful decor.<br/> <br/>Its owner, a young entrepreneur took us to a quaint little table and quickly the servers presented us with a very diverse menu. The vibrant herbs like Thai basil, mint and cilantro, rich flavors of curry and coconut, are all a part of the large selection of Thai originals they serve.<br/> <br/>The satay skewers are not to be missed, as the coconut-marinated white chicken meat was succulent and the peanut sauce, tinged with spice, was just perfection!<br/> <br/>We opted for a variety of classic dishes, one as delicious as the others. They offer an array of seafood, chicken, beef, pork, tofu, vegetable dishes that are prepared to your taste. The wine list is impressionable and the lemongrass tea is delightful!<br/> <br/>Add superb service on top of all this great food, and you have a great option for dining out — especially for those who love to share as there are simply so many dishes to taste & discover.

Siam Bistro is located in a fairly busy area on Wellington, so you'll have to drive around and find parking on the side streets. It's usually very busy, but they have a set lunch menu and the service (once you order) is fast. Food is flavourful and you have the option to make your meal quite spicy (which I do).

I'm not one to write reviews but just grabbed a pick up order tonight. The food was alright. Panang was a 4/5. Our pad Thai came with only noodles. I tried to tell them there was nothing in it and wanted a credit but they insisted they added lots of stuff to it. I told them I would post a review if they didn't want to help me out. So here's a picture.

Cute little hole in the wall with lovely staff. Siam Bistro is by far my favourite Thai place in Ottawa. Pad Kee Maow (#55) and the green curry with bamboo shoots are personal favourites. I wish they were on skip the dishes or just eat

All the dishes we ordered were excellent. The waitress was very helpful and had great knowledge of the menu. Although it was a Tuesday night, the place was full.

By far by favourite Thai restaurant in Ottawa. Great food. Great quality. This place gets too crowded on weekends. Pad Thai Noodles are a must try.

Not sure if it was a bad night or not, but I was disappointed with my takeout order. We ordered the panang curry as well as the pad thai. Both were extremely greasy (the curry was pure liquid/grease at the bottom of the container) and the pad thai made me feel sick after eating it. I have been to the restaurant once, and felt that it wasnt anything special.
Lindsay
Delicious, fast & spicey! & with the ever so important frequent water glass fill-ups.
Jenny
Hands down my favourite Thai restaurant in Ottawa! I always get the Tom yum soup, mango salad and seafood fried rice every time I come. Every dish is full of flavour and is always consistent.

Good food and nice atmosphere. Went on a Sunday night and wasn't disappointed. Had green curry with tofu. They were willing to customize my friend's order to accommodate his allergies. Service was good, prices were a bit high but the portions were huge.

All my dinners at Siam Bistro have been absolutely delicious. <br/><br/>Be prepared for an excellent meal if you like fresh ingredients and tasty sauces, but also be prepared to wait for a long time. The service is very slow, and not only because of long cooking times. Not the best if you want to be doted upon by your waiter/waitress, but the food is absolutely worth it.

Big fan! Love this little gem. Don't let the exterior fool you, inside is a quaint little restaurant which serves amazing Thai food full of flavour! Love the red curry shrimp served in a pineapple, pad Thai never disappoints, and their pad kee mow (spicy if you can handle it) is to die for!

I used to love this place, however recent experiences have demonstrated extremely poor customer service.<br/>Lunch is served until 2pm, but they would not accept a take out order that I tried to place at 1:35pm.<br/>Will not be going back. <br/>Person on the phone did not seem to care one bit.

Terrible Pad Khing. The chicken was barely cooked and the dish on the left side is the pool of sauce I had to drain out)<br/><br/><br/>-----11 Jan, 2015-----<br/><br/>My friend and I decided to come here Saturday night because Silver Spoon was closed. After having been to numerous Thai restaurants in the city and on the basis on flavour and taste, Siam Bistro ranks the highest so far.. However, the service was absolutely terrible. The woman serving us did not once ask how our food was, did not refill our drinks or even care to ask, and when I asked to modify an ingrediant in a dish, she screamed at me saying we don't do that here! <br/><br/>Absolutely some of the worst service I've seen.. But the food was really good :/
Hosniaqazi
RUDE RUDE RUDE. The worst service. good food bad service.
Ana
Soo short of staff!! We were waiting for 50 minutes in a monday night before getting served. If they need to save in staff I agree but this makes a bad visit. Staff owners take out faster "take-out" orders...I would not recommend!

Excellent for take out. I'll be honest, I've never actually dined in at Siam. The restaurant is pretty tiny, so you should definitely make a reservation if you're not doing take out.<br/>We usually get the Chicken Jaan Ron and the Gang Goong, which are both amazing. We've had a variety of different dishes at each visit, and have never been disappointed.<br/>I can't comment on the service in the restaurant, but I can say that they've always been on time for our take out order and always accurate. For Thai food in Ottawa, Siam is at the top.
Msmd
The service was below average and the wait time for food was ridiculous.
Dan G.
Absolutely fantastic Thai. <br/>Went for dinner with the family on a busy Wednesday night. We had no problem with the service and the server was polite and friendly.

Go with a group. I love this place! The food is fresh, flavourful, spicy and filling. I recommend going with a group of about 4 people in order to try a few things on the menu. The mains are served family style so if each person orders one plus some rice for the table, you get to try a nice variety of dishes. The Green mango salad is a fantastic starter t,o share since it has a perfect balance of spicy, sweet and salty. For mains, I recommend getting a dish from each section like #22 from the seafood section which is eggplant with shrimp. The chef suggestion dish "L" is visually quite appealing since it a red curry with shrimp served in a pineapple shell. Of course, a plate of Pad Thai is a must when you visit Siam Bistro. The service is very friendly and they are happy to help answer any questions you might have about the menu, item preparation and level of spiciness.

REALLY RUDE ON THE PHONE!!!. I called to make reserations for a birthday party this weekend and the women who answered the phone was extremely rude. I have gone to this resterant several times and found the food generally good so I thought it would be nice to celebrate a birthday there. When I called the women asked me the time I wanted, name of the reservation and she was going to hang up on me before I could tell her the reservation was for Saturday and not today (Wednesday). She then said "ok" and hung up on me! No goodbye, thank-you, or any acknowledgement. She was very abrupt and rude! I was tempted to call back and cancel but I already told my guests were the party would be. I hope that this is not the type of service we will get there because if so, it will be the last time I go to this restaurant. I am a Montrealler and have been to many Thai restaurants in the past. This was not the best but it was not the worst.

Good food, service varies.. The food is always good here but the service can be off sometimes (when dining in and ordering out). It depends of the night and how busy they are. A great tasting experience. I would recommend this place to Thai food lovers but the service needs some amelioration. To the owners: Don't expect your patrons to come back if you are not willing to provide a fair and good service... Perhaps train your staff better? Other restaurants have done it, so can you.

Poor services during lunch. My husband and I went there for lunch twice and both times the server during lunch time is very poor. We walk in the restaurant and we greet her, she looked at us with no expression, no greeting. Food is very good but unfriendly server really a put off. Won't be going back.
Fritz
The food tasted good, but I had horrible upset stomach afterwards. I read one older review saying this restaurant uses MSG- would really like to know if that is true. Next time I will go to Anna Thai down the road on holland- the portions are smaller but just as tasty and never had any issues after eating.

Best Thai in town. I have been going there for years and I have never had rude service, quite the opposite, I find that it's one of the friendliest place in town. Water gets filled up really quickly and I always feel well taken care of. I love the fact that they wear traditional Thai dresses, adds to the atmosphere. The place is small, but very warm. Chicken with cashews is my favorite. Give it a chance and judge for yourself.

Rude and impatient staff. I tried to order takeout food at lunchtime, to pick up early evening as soon as possible after 5. The woman I spoke to was extremely curt and rude: "We're busy, you'll have to call back, and you won't get it at 5 anyway. 5:30 at the earliest". I was in the middle of asking when would be a good time to call back when she said "good bye" and hung up on me. How difficult would it have been to say "I'm sorry, we're really busy. Could you please call back at 1:30"? This restaurant has great food--I've lived in the area for 35 years and have been there countless times, but recently I've felt hurried whenever I've gone there for dinner, as if they can't wait to clear the table for another diner. They often clear away half-finished meals without asking. Living in West Wellington, I have a lot of choices when it comes to dining out, and I won't be going back to the Siam unless I hear things have changed. Good food is not enough.

We decided to try out Siam Bistro after having read some rave reviews. On the outside it looks quite inconspicuous but upon entering, although small, the decor was inviting and the aromas coming from the kitchen mouth-watering. To start, we ordered the Po Pia Goong Tood (shrimp spring rolls) appetizer. I was pleasantly surprised to discover a full sized shrimp inside that had even been seasoned. For our main course, the three of us ordered Gang Keow Wan Goong (thai green curry with shrimp), Gai Pad Med Mamuang (chicken with dried chillies and cashew), as well as Shrimp Pad Thai. Although we ordered very spicy for the first dish, it ended up more like mild. However there was a surprising amount of shrimp in the dish, which was great considering that a lot of restaurants will skimp on the protein and instead, add more vegetables. The pineapple was a refreshing addition to cut the creaminess of the coconut milk. The chicken dish was probably my favourite, as you could taste every component and the flavours just burst in your mouth. Again, they did not skimp on the cashew nuts. The pad thai was the best I have had in Ottawa by far, with the noodles not being the typical mush you find in many restaurants. <br/>Overall, a must go for any Thai food fans. I will surely be back again and again.

Nice. Prices are great, food is good, but not great.

Embarrassing. Brought a date on July 31 at 6pm. Restaurant was 75% full and appeared to be understaffed. Took 10 minutes and flagging down to get our order taken, and over an hour before my food arrived. Date's food came 15 minutes later. No one asked if we needed anything or how the food was. Many better Thai options than Siam Bistro, won't be returning.

Horrendous service. food isn't any better.. Went for a birthday party. was charged $5 to bring our own cake. waited half an hour to just put in our order. when we told the waitress that 3 people decided not to show, she showed her anger and frustration by moving the table and setting up all the other empty tables before coming back to take our order. not kidding. she went to every single table and fixed the forks and settings and inched over tables because people had cancelled. then when her co-worker asked her what she was doing she yelled in her own language that people had cancelled. this was obvious cause she was pointing to our table. nonetheless, took another half an hour for the food to show and it was horrible especially for the price. not sure how this place has a 90% rating. it was horrendous. never again.

Food is Good. GOT RIPPED OFF!! SHADDY SHADDY!!!! Not Candid Camera :(<br/>We were also charged for items not ordered. Server took our order, served us, knew exactly what was brought to the table! We only ordered 1 starter and 2 main items. Our Bill had sticky Rice which they said was sold out and so we never ordered it and another starter. 2 extra items. We get bill:<br/>THEY WOULD NOT CORRECT IT!! <br/>We were in Shock.. they could only say sorry multiple times and would Not fix the Bill!!! <br/>We thought we were on candid camera!! seriously. NO this was real!! <br/>I paid for things ..i did not order! We Kept Cool, Collective, Quiet and Paid. Romantic Dinner turned very creepy and disappointing. and no we were not drinking any alcohol.<br/>Another server growled at us on the way out!!! <br/>We were not on candid camera, unfortunately! Stay away. <br/>Good Bye Siam Bistro.. we won't go hungry.

Food is great. they like t.... Food is great. <br/>they like to add extra to the bill and then they act dumb!!! be careful.. And then they would not correct.. goodbye!!

...with some reservations.. Siam Bistro used to be one of our fav thai places years ago.<br/>The last time, the usually excellant soup was totally different......not good at all.<br/> I find the noise level inside is very high; specially when the place is full, its quite intollerable.<br/>The owner has been aware of this for quite some time, but has not done anything yet.<br/> Ah well, there's dozen's of really good Thai restaurants to choose from today !!<br/>Anna's round the corner is highly recomended; both for the cuisine and the service.

Wonderful. Delicious pad thai, curry and rice wraps! Visited many times and never been disappointed!

BE ADVISED: CHOOSE ELSEWHERE. Let me start by expressing that, as a Thai restaurant, this was one of the limited, once-appreciated options in the Ottawa area. From my last experience, it was confirmed that the owner and staff have no empathy towards a rather major component of a successful business: customer satisfaction. It remains obvious that the owner and staff are driven by dollar signs, and less about customer satisfaction. This was once a favourite take-out place of mine, until recently. When the restaurant accepts take-out orders, you would expect they meet the deadline upon arrival, as most take out options in this city do. But no, not Siam Bistro. They would rather take your money up front, indicate you have a 15 minute wait time for your food to be ready, have you rush over prior to a meeting to pick up lunch to then be notified that there are 9 orders ahead of you and you will now have to wait an addition 45 minutes. When we inquired about the status of our order, the front end staff member rudely responded notifying us that the kitchen hadn't started our order. We ended up asking for a refund along with TWO other couples who were waiting on orders as well. We requested a refund and went back to work. In the restaurant business, taking on more than you are able to handle results in a decrease in food quality accompanied by unsatisified customers. You would be smart to reevaluate your night out at Siam Bistro to avoid being displeased. Spend your money at a restaurant respects customer satisfaction and sees past greedy dollar signs. Be aware of how you are treated when you pay with other methods besides cash. Ensure that you are getting what you paid for, and this includes feeling satisified with services. In my opinion, Thai goers should turn to other Thai cuisines in the nearby area. You aren't missing out on much. Way to go, Siam Bistro.

Overall good experience. This restaurant is small, but a great environment. Foods great. Service isn't the greatest, but it gets by.

Delicious. This restaurant is delicious! Service was a little slow, but very friendly and helpful. The place gets a little louder during peak dinner hours, and the tables are close together. But if you can look past all its flaws and focus on the food you will not be disappointed. The food is delicious, and well plated in very nice designs. Flavors are amazing, and curry is made just the temperature you want it. I would recommend to anybody :) I would also highly recommend the shrimp and cashew dish, as they give you lots of delicious shrimp!

I love Siam bistro! It is one of my favourite thai places in Ottawa; the food is hot, fresh and authentic. The service is somewhat friendly, definitely more friendly in the evening. <br/>My problem with Siam Bistro lately is how cheap they're coming. Yes theirdishes are slightly cheaper than other places, but I find that charging people $1 for a tablespoon of hot sauce is insulting. Also, charging 25 cents for a take out container to take your left covers to go is nothing short of lame. <br/>However, I will continue to eat there and simply stuff my face with the leftovers instead :-)

I try other thai places and always return to this place. Though the prices are on the expensive end, to me the food is def worth it. Service is good. Only complaint is the restaurant is so narrow and small. Feels suffocating when its very very busy and so loud.
Gaby
One of my favourite restaurants. I love this restaurant and go there again and again for either lunch and dinner. Everything I tried was delicious. I love the spicy soup that you get as appetizer for lunch - it really revs up your appetite. There is a good choice of main courses, all of which are tasty and flavorful but never disagree with my tummy. <br/>The service is very good, the waitresses wear colorful clothes and are very attentive about refilling your glass with water - something I really appreciate if I'm having a spicy meal. <br/>The cherry on top is that the prices are very, very decent for the quality of food.<br/>Recommended for any occasion from business lunch to a romantic evening. My favorite restaurant in Ottawa!

Good, not excellent.. Siam bistro was good, best Thai I’ve had? No! The flavours are definitely there, but personally I just find there was always a little something missing. My friend and I took the deep fried tofu and chicken satay, both were really good, but nothing more, not amazing, just good. The peanut sauce with the chicken satay was excellent though. As a main my friend took a noodle dish with veggies and chicken. I only had a few bites as she took the 3 star of spiciness and from what I tasted beyond the heat it was really good. She really enjoyed it. There was lots of flavours and even the spiciness had depth to it. As much as I am not a fan of spicy her dish was my favourite of the night. I had the Pa-Nang curry, which is probably my favourite curry; I have it all the time. Don’t get my wrong, it was good, but again something was missing from the dish not to mention that it came with no veggies. I ordered the chicken one and that’s exactly what I was served, chicken curry with a few basil leaf in it and rice. I wanted veggies, crunch, something to give oomph to the dish and it wasn’t there. All that being said, I liked Siam bistro it just wasn’t my favourite but would gladly go back would someone want to go there.
Not A Picky Eater
Not satisfied. October 20, I ordered the green mango and shrimp salad. Very well presented with fresh ingredients. The left side of the dish was extremely spicy, not to say suicidal, and the other half had no spices. On the menu it had only one star for spcies I usually can tolerate very easily two stars for spices but this was not a balanced plate. Disappointed for a dinner for two that cost 65.00$ + 15$ tip.

Best Thai food in town, the green -red curry dishes are excellent as are the soups
Anna_zycki
Probably the best Thai food in Ottawa. I love this place. I work nearby and go to Siam Bistro for lunch a little too often. The food is delicious and the service is great, considering how packed it can get. I've tried many of their vegetarian dishes and I like the green curry the best. I think most of their curries are great from what I've heard from my meat eating friends.
Eheik
I have been here many times and have loved it each time. I cant complain about the food at all. Im shocked to see people have had bad experiences with the service, as i have had none in the dozens of times i have visited. Easily my favourite Thai food in Ottawa. It has a small dining room though, so good luck finding a table on busy nights.
AutumnLili
In the running for best Thai in Ottawa. We have been coming here for years and having tried a lot of other Thai places, we just keep coming back, especially since we are lucky to live in the same neighborhood. We have had several positive dine-in experiences and many more good take out experiences. Our standards are the chicken pad Thai, the gang garee gai ( chicken and potatoes in a yellow curry coconut sauce) and the chef's special Gai Pad Prik Hang (Chicken pineapple and vegetable stir fry with chilies, served in restaurant in a halved pineapple - do not eat the hot peppers!!), and always with a side of sticky rice. You could drink the sauces they are so fantastic!! We have also had the chicken in banana leaves and a few of the appetizers (spring rolls and chicken satay) and have never been disappointed. The food is fresh, hot, and extremely tasty. We've converted our anti-Thai extended family to true fans now because of Siam bistro. <br/><br/>Portions are large - the order above easily feeds my family of 3 for dinner, lunch and then some. Only downside is that they are slow. Both dine-in and take out. We have had to wait 45 mins for a take-out order and when we show up on time, they have made us wait and extra 20 minutes. Last time we dined-in with my 1.5yr old son, we had to ask them to bring some rice ahead of everything else because the wait was getting too long... Arm yourself with some patience and you will be rewarded!

Worth a second try, but.... While my previous experience there was not good (felt ill after having the pad thai, friends have complained too), and the service was slow, I must observe that a 90% favourable rating might induce me to try it one more time.
Foodie3
Great dinning. Delicious and flavourful thai dishes at a reasonable price. I will definitely go back!
Koronai
Great food, bad service. The food is very good and it certainly is one of the best in town, but the service is slow and erratic. The people are nice, but are clearly overwhelmed. Reservations are necessary. Take out is a good option, but it's also very slow ...

Our Favourite Thai Restaurant in Ottawa. While we live in Barrhaven and there are many other closer Thai restaurants, we almost always go to Siam Bistro when we have cravings. Our favourite dishes are the Pad Kee Maow (spicy version of Pad Thai, but with basil), Pad Bai Gra-Prow (seafood with chillis and basil), and any of the red curry dishes. The food is always consistently good, even when it's busy/packed. We really do recommend that you make a reservation if you want to go, as it's been filled during dinner hours whenever we go.
Mib515
Great food. Looking forward to going back. But make reservations.

Worth the repeat!. Been here several times over the past few years. The food is always fresh, hot, and tasty. Nice decor, intimate setting. Will keep coming back!
Marla75
Best Thai food. This restaurant is time after time satisfying and delicious. I have tried numerous other Thai restaurants (in other cities too!) and this one is still the best by far. Also has huge portions and great soup!
Travelmug
I'm sorry - I know its great and all, actually most thai places do a pretty good job if you don't venture too far from the standards, but this place has an inflated head.<br/><br/>It's not worth the wait. Go down the street to Spring Roll House Cafe - half the price, half the wait time.
TM
Great thai food. The seafood salad, the chicken in pandanus leaves, the seafood curry wrapped in aluminium - all very good! Lovely staff and great service.
Grace
Reservations?. It would be nice if they would answer the phone to take reservations...at 5PM!
WiseKoala
Excellent. Very good curry dishes if you're partial to those. Recommend the yellow curry/coconut milk/chicken over rice (order lots of rice!). This is one of my go to Thai places. Consistent, good, fair price. 4/5.
Jessica
Great Tai Place. I've had a couple of lunches and dinners here and have enjoyed every meal. It doesn't look like much on the outside but once you go in it is pretty nice!
D
Delish!. Ordered takeout - and talk about flavourful, fresh and waaaay beyond what I had expected!<br/><br/>Warning - a single order of the Pad Thai was enough for 4 people when combined with soup, rice, etc.
Chrisonthego
Best #thai restaurant in #ottawa. Need to make reservations. Try it...you will like it.
Bruce
Consistently Fabulous. Delicious food, good service and reasonable prices make Siam Bistro a winner in the competitive environment of Wellington West.

One of the top 5 Thai restaurants in Canada it is not Nits (in Moosejaw), but excellent, fairly authentic. Also very consistent with quality, a fail safe every time! Beef Salad and Drunken Noodles, the best!

Making Thai alive again. Sometimes I think Thai food (at least the way we eat it in N.America) is done and tired. There's just so much mediocre Thai out there! But Siam Bistro consistently renews my faith and palate. <br/>I was there recently after a 4 yr hiatus and wow! I couldn't stop eating! I love the basil eggplant, the red curry beef and they make a mean pad thai. Oh, and the soup was dreamy!<br/>I will not let another 4 yrs go by.
Benjamin Willis
Most authenticate Thai place we have found in Ottawa. It is good and Thai spicy and the curry in a pineapple shell is amazing.
Emily Mays
Great portions, food and service. One of my favourites.

For great Thai in a cozy, kind atmosphere Siam Bistro is THE place to go down in Wellington West. I promise you'll be glad you went!<br/>

The first time I went to Siam Bistro I will admit there was a bit of apprehension. My brother-in-law -to-be at the time took me after the concert at Hope Volleyball. As per usual, it had been pouring and we were drenched and starving. When we got to Siam, which he had been raving about, there was a 45 min wait to get a table. This is not unusual and I was 'hangry' if you will, but we walked around Wellingt

One of my favorite Thai restaurants in Ottawa is Siam Bistro . I like the variety of dishes they offer on their menu and they also make great Pad Thai. The space at Siam Bistro is nicer than most Thai places in Ottawa. The seating area is long, narrow, and very intimate. I've been here multiple times, and here is a sample of the dishes I have tried recently. The Tom Kha Gai , or any of their hot & sour soups with coconut milk is awesome! I normally prefer the Tom Yum clear soups, but the fresh ingredients combined with the cocounut milk at this place is a winning combination. Other flavors in this soup include lemon grass, kaffir lime leaves, and mushrooms. Tom Kha Gai The Tom Yum soups are also very good. It has the same hot & sour base as the Tom Kha soups, and my favorites are the Tom Yum mushroom and Tom Yum Goong (shrimp). Tom Yum Mushroom The satay skewers
