Went there last night for supper and was impressed. My wife ordered the Ravioli in cream sauce and must say this sauce was the best I have EVER tasted to date. I had fettuccini and seafood plate called Frutti de Mare in a rose sauce. Pasta was fresh and delicious, sauce was nice but nothing like my wifes plate. My one complaint was the small amount of clams and shrimp. In fact 3 larger clams and 4 tiny ones with only ONE large shrimp on entire plate. When you pay for seafood you should get enough especially with clams because although they are large on the outside the meat inside is tiny.
Have been to Mr. B's twice and will definitely keep returning. Delicious high quality food, ample servings. Went a couple of weeks ago and had their ravioli special with a rosé bacon sauce, it was spectacular.
This quaint little restaurant is the best kept secret in Ottawa. Shhhhh ! Lets not tell too many that the food is incredible and so are the servers. This place has experienced professional servers who know how to look after you without asking. Try it, you will be very impressed. Remember don't tell too many or reservations will be disappointing.
Its always good here. Pasta sauce is good not too salty, seasoned well. Only thing i would not recommend is the dessert, not the best. But over very good. Veryy filling.
My favourite restaurant. Rarely is there a poor meal. The zucchini sticks are the best in town as is the Caesar salad. I wish I knew how to cook vegetables the way they do. I usually pick a meal of the day from their chalkboard.
Food is pretty good for the prices. Service is fairly slow for such a small place but they are friendly. Been there 3 times, same thing each time.
This place hits it out of the park every time! All of the appetizers are delicious, tons of fresh specials, and extremely generous portions. The service is the always great, Sharon is the best. This is our go to neighbourhood restaurant and it's usually packed, but still a bit of a hidden gem.
This is one of the best italian restaurant in Ottawa. The prices are very reasonable and you have a good variety of choices from the menu or the daily specials. We could call it "Ottawa's best kept secret".
Amazing restaurant! Great atmosphere, great service, clean, cozy, absolutely amazing food. Highly recommend the seafood pasta. Best italian restaurant in Ottawa.
The first time I entered this cozy restaurant was in the late 80's, while visiting Ottawa. While it was a lunch, I enjoyed the meal tremendously. Since then, I've been there dozens of times (a lot!). I have yet to have a meal I didn't enjoy tremendously, nor have I ever experienced an issue with service or staff. I've been given complimentary drinks, deserts and discounts on a number of occasions; and, no, I'm not family. For many years, a group of my neighbours would all go at least once a month; never a complaint and thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere and repast. I will continue to highly recommend Mr. B's to anyone in Ottawa.
A Gem. We always go to Mr. B's for dinner. The first few times was amazing. Great food for an even better price.
The last few times we've went, the service has been amazing, but the food wasn't so good. Don't get me wrong, it was pretty good. Just not like before.
I'll keep going there, and hope the food gets better. I probably won't buy the most expensive dish, cause its not really worth the money anymore. I'll stick to the chicken specials.
Amazing specials. Homemade pasta is also delicious! my fav is the carbonara. don't forget the fried zucchini appetizer!
Always a great experience!!!. We eaten here on a few special occasions and only have great things to say about the food and service. It's a nice small restaurant with an intimate feel and the menu items are always varied and delicious. Great staff who take the time to explain the indredients as I have multiple food intolerances and they are always happy to comply with my requests.
Was just looking for a good restaurant by the airport and stumbled on Mr. B's
We were so impressed! We all went with their specials, mine being the lobster linguine. And holy s@!# was it good.
Great an affordable wine selection and delicious draught beer.
If I'm ever back near the Ottawa airport I'll be back!
Great...sometimes. The homemade pasta is delicious and the service is okay. Just like the pasta (which once had hair in it) the service can be great sometimes and can be terrible other times it really just depends on your luck.
Our favorite italian. We love going to this semi- hidden little restaurant, service has always been better than average.Martinis are great, so is ceasar salad and veal.I had the best lamb chops I've ever had there.
Great food, blah service. Was looking forward to eating at mr b's for some time and the food really lived up to the hype, especially the Caesar salad...yum! The only issue: our server was not very friendly and continually spilled water all over us when refilling glasses...it became a running joke at our table. She has clearly been there awhile but didn't seem interested in helping with recommendations either. I loved the food but no one wants to feel like they're a nuisance so I'm not sure we'll go back...too bad!
My parents have been frequenting this place for a while now and every time i go along i am not disappointed. i am totally addicted to their veal chop and i don't eat anything else every time. this place is definitely one of the hidden gems of the city as it is in a strip mall in the southern part of the city. i urge everyone to go try it out. service is always great!
This place is such great quality for the food you leave feeling guilty.
Never disappoints. Always busy - make reservations.
Always good.. Been to this restaurant many times. The food is always well prepared and tasty.
Do yourself a favour and make reservations.
Their Caesar salad is to die for! Excellent food everytime and everyone I take there is equally impressed. Lunch menu and price is perfect.
Delicious. Well worth the visit. I had a Caesar salad, the penne chicken and peppers with red sauce. (Don’t remember the actual name). Also had house red wine. Warm buns served to start. Delicious. I want to go back!

If you're craving freshly made pasta, traditional comfort food, steak, or even seafood, Mr.B's is an amazing place to visit!
There are so many types of pasta you can try, ranging from rigatoni, linguine, fettucine, lasagna, penne, tortellini, raviolio, and mannicotti fiorentina!
Smelts: lightly floured & fried with tomato aioli & fresh lemon ($12): fried nicely, not too much batter, and not oily. Tomato aioli was perfect!
Spicy pork belly appetizer ($14): Make sure to check their specials on the chalkboard - this was one of the "specials"! The pork was really tender, and it wasn't spicy at all (in my opinion). A great start to the meal.
My favourite dish out of everything was the Fettucine with fruitti di mare (clams, crab, scallops, mussels, with large & matane shrimp, $24) - the pasta was perfectly cooked, and really soaked up the delicious seafood sauce. The seafood was very fresh - I couldn't stop eating this! Definitely a must-try if you like seafood. If you don't, you could choose the Alfredo version of the Fettucine with Parmesan Cheese and Cream (you can add chicken for $3)!
If you like thinner pasta, the Shrimp & Scallops Napolitana ($26) is also fantastic, sautéed in garlic, white wine, and tomato. The size of the shrimps and scallops was massive!
A classic comfort food dish is their Chicken Scallopine Marsala, with sweet wine & sautéed mushrooms - this was a nicely balanced dish, with decadent marsala sauce, mushrooms, capers, veggies, and potatoes.
The interiors are gorgeous, and really add to the dine-in experience, which I recommend. There is a lot of space with the lofty ceilings, and cream/muted colours.
They also have a nice cocktail list - I tried the lychee love ($12), as I'm a huge fan of lychee, and found it well-made. It goes especially well with fried dishes!
I have to say I was not expecting much given the plaza this is situated but it’s a real gem! The restaurant itself has a lot of character and is clean and fairly large and great for date night or even having an event at! The food is so lovely and home cooked - very tasty, and good ingredients. We had the penne with Italian sausage which was smokey and delicious and simple. The spaghetti bolognese was so tomato-y and tasty too with lots of character. The clam in cream sauce with linguine was good but not my cuppa tea but my wife liked it.
Would definitely return and dine in! They only do take away, not delivery if you’re planning on take out.
These people are the nicest most genuine and caring humans I've ever had the pleasure of working with. If you have some decent kitchen experience and a good sense of humor this place just feels like home.
I was only there a short time as a cook on the line, I wish I had met them sooner. I've never been this happy in a kitchen since I was 17 years old and brand new, I'm 38 now. I learned so many new things and was paid very fairly to do so.
If you were someone I knew that had experience and needed a job, I would tell you to call Mike or Tommy and tell them you're interested in having a chat.
Had a large birthday dinner here a few weeks ago. The staff was very accommodating, and the food was great. I everyone was really impressed with the quality of food & service. Given the size of the group we tried a variety of food and was impressed with the menu!
Food was very nice. My wife is Italian so she would know!
We had the fried calamari and duck wings as appetizers. Not bad, the calamari were not as crispy as we like them. Duck wings were on the dry side.
Pasta was very tasty.
I had the Frutti di mare Fetuccini and my wife had the clam Linguine. Nice homemade pasta. Sauces were a little too creamy for my taste. But great overall.
Service was friendly, nice waitress was very knowledgeable about the menu.
Overall very nice experience! Might go back in the future.
