Review Signatures Restaurant - Ottawa

What a treat! Well priced meals that were absolutely delicious. The rotating menu makes it interesting and means you always have a chance to try something new. Great customer service too, with the wait staff very attentive.

I often come back to this restaurant for their blind tasting menu! The food is always very different and absolutely delicious! The high quality of products used is definitely noticed, and the service is always great. Can't wait to go back!

We had visited this restaurant a few years ago but was recently here as part of a special event. Cocktails and canapes in the bar area to start and then a tour of the facilities, followed by a three course dinner with wine service. Service was good, food was amazing as usual. A little gem, not widely known. One of only 3 restaurants as part of the Cordon Bleu school and the only one in North America. How fortunate for those who live in Ottawa.

It is first time to come to signature restaurant foe supper. The atmosphere in the restaurant is relaxing and wonderful. The food there is extremely amazing and impressed to me. My brother and I had a great time and we will definitely come visit again. At the end of the supper, we got two macaron, they were gorgeous and not too sweet. The macaron gave the supper which is five courses a perfect ending. It is my pleasure to have a such amazing supper in Signatures restaurant.

The best place to enjoy every bite of your meal. The scallops are must try and I’m going to tell you why, because those people know how to cook it to perfection. The Chef was so understanding of our dietary restrictions which led us at the end to enjoy all this masterpieces without any concerns. Thanks a lot to signatures and Le cordon blue you are unbeatable keep it on.

Definitely work the dining experience. Cheaper then most trendy places with AMAZING food. The complimentary courses and digestifs truly make it worth it. Couple with amazing service and a great design that has a wonderful ambiance.

We decided to give Signatures a second chance after last year's Valentines day customer service flop. We went back again this year on the 15th. First off the food was incredible. Although a very similar menu from last year. We didn't mind since the food is out of this world, spectacular! Words cannot describe how amazing the food tasted. I fault Signatures once again on the service. When you pay almost $300 for your night out, you expect the service that goes along with it! Throughout our first few courses the dining room was quiet and there were only 3-4 tables. Service was great. As it should be when there are several servers for only a handful of tables. As the evening progressed though the service became terrible. Our main course dishes were not cleared for 35 minutes. The table next to us had come after us, finished their main course after us, had their table cleared, dessert delivered, drinks replenished, bill delivered and paid, then the servers flipped the table and reset it, following that another couple sat down. All before our dessert course was served. We waited and stared in awe. After dessert we waited another 20 minutes before the bill was brought to our table. This is exactly what happened the year before except we got tired of waiting for the bill, got up and we went to ask a manager if he would like to take our money before we left. This was exceptionally difficult get past after we sent in our review after the meal, voiced our concerns and they went unanswered. Hence why this review is posted 5 days later. We wanted to A. cool off before writing a heated review and B. Offer the restaurant an opportunity to explain. This is arguably the best tasting food in the city but sadly we will not be back to enjoy it as the service is far from acceptable!

I've known of this Cordon Blue teaching restaurant for a while and recently tried it for a Mother's day dinner. Highlights; the Foie Gras was the finest I've even had. The beef tenderloin and deer loin were choice and their Fundy scallops really went well with the suggested white wine. I had the 5-course meal (seasonal) which I highly recommend if you'd like to sample their menu. At $95, I considered it a bargain. I also went with the wine sampling they offer with the 'Gastronomique menu'. While the wines (4x 3oz glasses... sparkling wine, Ontario white, Ontario red, Italian red) certainly highlighted the flavours of the plates they accompanied, at $65 I would have expected some finer European wines. The staff were great and took obvious pride in the food served. We sat outside and enjoyed a bug-free June evening.

The meal was excellant and the ambiance was perfect for a nice intimate evening. We attended for our wedding anniversary and our waiter overheard my toast to my wife, wishing her a happy anniversary. He later served us a "special" dessert which was unexpected but appreciated. It's the small details that matter.

It was a perfect night. Food was excellent, perfectly prepared and attractively presented. The waiters paid attention to every detail. The sommelier was amazing, offering us a tailored tasting with our meal and was very knowledgeable.

A little old fashioned for decor. Ambiance was good. Was there for a work dinner. Friendly and good service. Decent food portions. Seafood (salmon) looked better than chicken which was a bit dry. The mustard sauce for the chicken however was delicious! Potatoes were delicious!

Went here with a group. Had the table d'hôte, with Romaine salad, Zucchini and spinach veloute, Chili and honey marinated chicken breast, and white chocolate panna cotta.

I should begin with the parking, which was awful for a Wednesday night. It was full. At least four of their other guests (or staff, or students?) chose the double-park option, eliminating at least as many parking spots as I noticed on arrival (6 pm).

Service was awful (well, non-existent) despite our party arriving on-time. It was a struggle to get served a cocktail to begin the evening. (And the bartender was completely out of his depth, completely unable to tell the difference between an olive and an onion -- asked for the latter, got the former.) Dinner servers were amateurish (at best), excusable only if they weren't working for a cooking school, specializing in hospitality.

The food was best described as pedantic and parochial. I remarked that I had thought that the students had done not badly, but was informed that the "chefs" were actually professionals. Sad that I couldn't tell the difference between a student and a professional. And to be clear, I can tell the difference -- the food was just that unremarkable. There was an over reliance on foam (in this case, gruyere) and a badly curated fruit theme carried through the last two dishes. Admittedly the soup was not bad -- not particularly remarkable -- but not bad, the taste being solely provided by the presence of truffle oil.

I decided to leave early, after being ignored by the servers for an after-dinner coffee, and further ignored for my bill, which I was only able to pay after flagging down a passing waiter from another room.

If you want pretentious without the cooking chops to back it up, this is the place to go.

We did enjoy the place very nice old mention.

The soup was excellent and very tasty but it could have been a little bit warmer . We had fish and the snappers was exquisite we'll cook , tasty.

The presentation of the plate was very good.
The service fast and efficient .

All in all a very good place to have a quit lunch or dinner.

Waiter wearing aftershave?!?. I went to Signatures for my wedding dinner - just my husband and our two witnesses. We had a lovely table outside - a perfect place to celebrate such a momentous occasion at the end of August. However, I was actually shocked by the fact that our waiter had incredibly strong cologne on. Has anyone ever had this experience? I can't think of any restaurant I've ever been at when I could smell the waiter approaching the table... As well, he had a very off-putting snobby manner - basically lecturing us rather than clarifying the issue. As someone who knows my wine and food, I didn't appreciate that.

The food was fine, although the duck magret had a lot of flavours on the plate (melon, blueberry sauce, etc.) that didn't quite come together. The scallops were divine.

I emailed the restaurant with my comments and they didn't bother to respond.

First Class French. Exquisite! My wife and I had the Chef's Tasting Menu with wine pairings...outstanding. Each of the 5 courses was inspired and flawlessly prepared. The wine pairings perfectly complemented each dish. Service was just the right level of attentiveness. My only suggestion would be for the server who brings each course to give a recap of the dish for those of us with poor memories lol.

Divine. My partner worked here as a server, and without a doubt the kitchen prepares everything authentically, fresh, perfectly detailed, and the chef's meticulous method and French background is clearly apparent. When I ate here, the quality was striking, the atmosphere was charming, and I was completely stuffed! Really pleasant dining experience.

I didn't find it very expensive. Wednesdays have a great special. Check the website!

Food good, Service disappointing. How unfortunate that the shift to a Bistro style restaurant takes with it all the service expertise that we had come to expect from Signatures. Does "relaxed" mean indifferent? Or perhaps clumsy? After almost having each and every course dropped on myself or my husband, the evening became almost comical. While we each made it out (barely) without a drycleaning bill, it definitely is not the service we had come to expect from Signatures. Does Le Cordon Bleu no longer think it necessary to instill the finer points of service in its students? How unfortunate as these people represent the future of fine dining in Canada. There are other restaurants in Ottawa with good food, but few with exceptional service.

Overall, I really enjoyed the meal and the experience at Le Cordon Bleu Bistro @ Signatures. I think the company I had really played a role in that. :) Would I come here again? Probably not. I would most likely choose to try a different restaurant.

Dear Julia: Happy 100th birthday! When I reflect on your many wonderful qualities, what I think stands out most for me is how tenacious you were about fulfilling your desire to learn how to cook. To leap into a program as demanding as that of Le Cordon Bleu in Paris is not for the faint of heart - killing lobsters, trussing chickens, deboning ducks. You seemed so unfazed by all the hard work required to complete the program. So when I was invited on a lunch date this past Wednesday, and was left with the responsibility of choosing the dining destination, I jumped at the chance to celebrate your big day with friends at Le Cordon Bleu right here in Ottawa. Lucky us. I so wanted to sit out on the large, stone terrace with a view of the magnificent fountain across the road in Strathcona Park. The weather co-operated. It was sunny and a warm 25ºC. The wait staff doted on us. At times there seemed to be more of them than us. The cutlery was shuffled or replaced according to protocol as we mo

It seems that there is already some history behind this restaurant, since until recently, it was the only restaurant in the city to have received Michelin’s coveted 5-Star award.

My friends and I recently had lunch at the re-vamped Le Cordon Bleu Bistro . Their quality 3-course lunch is $25, and that, in my opinion, is a steal. It was a bit of a challenge trying to get a reservation (lots of phone tag), but we finally managed. A n
