I make sure to alway stop by when I'm in Ottawa. Great food and great friendly service. Best breakfast place for sure! We recently went (4 ppl) and the owner came to our table to say hi. He is so nice and even brought some amazing lemon curd to try with our pancakes... FWI best lemon curd AND best pancake EVER.. hands down. I had the banana bread french toast and think I had a mouthgasm.
Discovered this little gem, we visited tonight for dinner (as I got a gift certificate for my birthday back in Sept from Evan). We had the House Salad - very good - big - share, I had the almond chicken and he had the Jerk ribs - Very good - big plates. No room for dessert. OK now about the BREAD, oh my god - it is delicious - hence why no room for dessert. Service was spot one, size of table/seating is very nice/quaint. Would recommend and we will be back.
The food is always great, it is my daughter's favourite place so when we are out together we always eat there. The server even got me the recipe for the marinated olives...so nice.

I had the best salmon dish I have ever had last night. And, the jambalaya was also amazing.
Delicious food and very gluten free friendly for those of us who have allergies. Been here many times and always have a scrumptious yummy meal. In this case you definitely get what you pay for and then some. One of my favorite restaurants.

I've been here for breakfast a couple of times and haven't been disappointed. I really like the homemade sausage patties and their potatoes are yummy, too. It's a good quality breakfast all around.
Came here for breakfast. We were a big group, and everyone enjoyed their food! I had the poached egg with salmon and their hollandaise sauce! Overall the food was great, but it’s extremely heavy, so you’ll definitely be full for atleast half the day! Also their iced coffee was exceptional!

Been here for brunch. Great experience. Crowded because the restaurant is extremely popular for weekend brunch. Home made bread, fresh delicious eggs Benedict, gluten free tasty options. Coffee was excellent, I absolutely love the glass coffee mugs they serve it in. Always coming back to this spot

Stoneface Dolly's makes a great brunch. My go-to order is the Smoked Salmon Benedict, and it is so delicious that I can't deviate. Weekends are extremely busy, and quarters are very tight, so you'll likely be able to listen in on your neighbouring table's conversation. Despite all this, the service is typically very good and value for experience is high. To top the experience off, do yourselves a favour and bring a loaf of their homemade molasses bread home - you won't be disappointed!
Went for breakfast Monday at 9:30 (Easter Monday). Didn't have to wait in line (thankfully)! The staff were attentive and on the ball, especially when it comes to coffee top ups. The menu is plentiful with LOTS of option and then more options haha. I ordered the breakfast sandwich (Swiss cheese, sautéed onions and p. bacon) which was huge and made with their homemade molasses bread (you MUST try this), came with the home fries and fruit. Not a huge fan of their mashed type home fries but I ate them all! I got a ricotta pancake on the side to try it and while it was delicious it was $6!! - for 1 medium pancake! 🤔. Overall amazing, would go back again, a little on the pricey side, but I'd pay it again! Also, bought a loaf of their home made molasses bread, so damn good toasted with butter at home - cheaper than my single pancake :/.

I had the Natasha (smoked salmon and spinach Benedict) and my fiancé had the jerk rib breakfast (I know it sounds strange but stay with me). Both dishes were exciting and tasty with surprisingly large portions. For the Natasha the Hollandaise was slightly spicy and had a lot more flavour than the traditional Hollandaise I'm used to which often taste mostly of butter. They used a good amount of smoked salmon so it didn't get drowned out by the rest of the flavours and the spinach complimented it well. This Benny was by far one of the best I have had and I have had many. I will admit though that most of my Benny's are from diners. I was also really impressed with the fun farmers market style hot sauce provided. It's called "miss Nunavut" by Chamomile Desjardins.
My fiancés dish was just as good. He bought the jerk ribs breakfast. It comes with a half rack of jerk ribs, two eggs and hashbrowns. I was skeptical at first. I've never understood the steak and eggs kind of breakfast. But the ribs were amazing, with a good amount of meat on the bone and some really tasty, moderately spicy jerk sauce. I was left wishing me gave me more.
I would recommend this place for the food, it may be a bit loud for some, but tucked in a corner table your stomach will thank you.

TRY THE DINNERS!!!!
This has always been a favourite spot to get breakfast, had never thought to try it at night. I went in with a couple of friends this past week to put it to the test and was absolutely blown away. They cocktail list left something to be desired, but the wine and beer selection is fantastic. They bring you a bowl of a fresh made herbed foccacia, with oil and balsamic, absolutely perfect. I ordered the scallop special, and it made me wish I was the kind of person who took pictures of my food. This thing was beautiful, and it tasted even better.
My wife got the salmon, also, beautiful. It rocks this balance between fresh asian fusion, and a traditional seared salmon dish with a perfectly crisped skin. Our friend had the lamb shank, and said that without a doubt it was the best lamb she's ever had. It had a beaus beer demi glaze that was out of this world!
Needless to say we were all swapping bites back and forth. The two guys behind the counter really seem to know what they're doing. The entire staff was professional and friendly. Will definitely be returning. In short, Stoneface Dolly's dinner is one of Ottawa's best kept secrets.
What a great spot! Delicious homemade food made with care. Hubby and I had breakfast here and we're very pleased with the quality of food, friendly service, and warm atmosphere. We'll be back. We'd like to try dinner some evening based on this experience.

This is one of my top weekend brunch spots. They are a little pricey, and they are usually very busy, but it is well worth it.
Their coffee is some of the best I've had. Hands down the best I've had in the city. Which is surprising from a brunch place, and not a coffee shop.
I tried their pancake, which was good, but I found it a little pricey for the portion size.
I tried their jerk chicken club, which was okay, but I wouldn't recommend it. There are better things on the menu.
The Eggs Benedict with spinach & smoked salmon is great. Their lemon diablo sauce is like a more amazing take on Hollandaise. Amazing. Does not taste like lemon, if you're worried about that.
Their homemade molasses bread is also better than all their other bread options. I'm not a fan of potatoes in general, but everyone else seems I've been with seems to love their breakfast potatoes.
Their Bobby Mac breakfast sandwiches are great, but quite honestly, it is just a breakfast sandwich at the end of the day.
I tried one of their omelets, I believe the roasted red pepper one, and I wasn't personally a fan. The salad that came with it had an awesome creamy balsamic dressing, however.
The one menu item that really shines is their banana bread french toast. The price for 3 slices is a little steep to me, but to buy 1 slice and share just to try...do it. It is fantastic.
The service has always been great, and very friendly. This place has also been featured on "You Gotta Eat Here", and absolutely deserved to be.

Great service every time I've been! Very friendly staff who are more than happy to help you make decisions. Delicious food, both breakfast and lunch options available during the day which is a huge selling point, for me at least! Will definitely be back.

Great dinner date. I've had brunch here before and was a bit worried about the wait times I've read about on this site. However, my husband and I came to SFD on a Thursday evening and were seated right away. It took only 10 minutes for orders to be taken, and then only 20 minutes after that for food to arrive. Drinks and tasty bread were brought out promptly, as was the delicious butternut squash soup of the day. The gorgonzola/rosemary fettuccine was delicious, and the ribs with cornbread were perfectly done. Coleslaw a bit stringy in texture. Serving sizes were not skimpy; this was good value for money. Service was unobtrusive, a bit brusque at times, but courteous and humorous. No rush to leave when most other diners had trickled out. Thank you, SFD, for a wonderful dinner date.
Very good breakfast. Good variety of breakfast items. But a bit over price. All in all food is good and service very good . We were please with our outing .
Great brunch. I had a great omelet here - pesto with goat cheese. The molasses toast is heavy but good. Love that this place has vegetarian options! I asked for tomato instead of home fries and they added some salad greens - nice touch!
Very good. The staff were all very friendly, my food was very good, but my husbands was it alitte plain. But overall it was an enjoyable experience and i would recommend it to those who ask.
Delicious! We made a reservation so we got in no problem on a Wednesday lunch and finding parking was our only issue. I had the tofu bobotie, and my friend had the eggs benedict on molasses toast. Both were tasty and nice size portions for lunch time. We will definetly return!

Never Disappoints!. I was introduced to SFD's a couple years ago after my friend dragged me there. I was actually mad at myself for not being convinced sooner. I felt like I had been missing out for years once I tried the pesto, goat cheese & portobello mushroom omelet. With the amount of goat cheese in it, I wonder how they profit at only $13.50 - It's amazing!! The portions are perfect, but the best part has to be the home-made molasses toast - I have to hold back from eating it all before trying my omelet. It's definitely my go-to breakfast spot!
Pretty good breakfast. Im cheap, but ordered the Mexican breakfast for about 13 bucks I think, was expecting this tiny unsatisfying meal, and was more than satisfied with the taste, portion, arrangement and service. it was pretty good, brought a loaf of that molasses bread home, mmmmm good. will go back again and again.
Wow! What a great experience! Service was great and the food was wonderful. I had pistachio encrusted salmon filet on a coconut milk basmati. The selection of local and micro beers on tap only added to the enjoyment! The desserts are really on display and if you can save room, cappuccino and cheesecake are a great compliment to a heavenly dining experience.

Good Time. Our group reserved a table of 10 on New Years Eve. Place was full when we arrived. Service was fine given the full house. Server was very nice and kept us in bread and water. We ordered 10 meals at once and all came as ordered. One was not pleased with Fish dish. Rest were satisfied. I was for sure. Beer and Wine, great friends turned out to be a wonderful evening. Will be back.
Went for dinner on a Saturday night. I had the beef tenderloin special. Thought the steak and prawns were great and perfectly cooked, but didn't care for the side pasta (which was plain pasta with olive oil - disappointing). I also had a bite of the lamb shank, which was delicious, and of the veal "birds" which were awesome. Everyone in our party enjoyed their dinner. The meals were well prepared and I think the value/price ratio is excellent. They have an open concept kitchen, which I like... although the place got steamy-hot by the time we left. I had an overall good experience and would definitely go back.
Update: Went back for brunch and thought the chicken bobotie benny-style eggs were amazing! Be prepared to wait to get a table.
Great breakfast!. One of my top picks for a breakfast place but not if I don't have time on my hands. Line is sometimes out the door but the food is def. worth the wait. Been there at least 1/2 a dozen times now and have not been disappointed.
Had lunch here a few weeks ago. Wrap was great, came with a salad and then choice of 5 or so starches that all sounded good. Very impressed and will be back

The food here has a sort of fancy home made feel to it. I've been half a dozen times, and never been disappointed. Breakfast, lunch, or dinner, Stoneface Dolly's has always been great.
The best for a lazy brunch!. I love going here for breakfast with friends, or when my parents visit. There is usually a line on the weekends, but it goes quick. Its hard to believe it doesn't have better reviews, although i haven't tried lunch or dinner menu yet. The hash browns are perfect, and finally a place you can get real molasses bread! Note that this bread is best toasted/buttered, NOT in a sandwich (ew?). My dining companions usually always get the omelets and rave about them. I also love that this is a non-pretentious resto, thumbs up!
Great!. Never had a disappointing meal here yet. It has become our go to place for special occasions. My favourite - Jambalaya. Other guests with me have yet to complain about their selection over several visits. Service generally is very good but, slows when it gets very busy.
Boring molasses bread, awesome mushroom patty. I had the Bobby Mac vegetarian sandwich (fried egg, vegetarian mushroom patty, tomato, cheddar) on molasses bread.
The mushroom patty in the vegetarian Bobby Mac is amazing. It has a strong flavour and nice patty texture.
But despite its good reputation, the molasses bread is BLAND. If you want to taste molasses in bread, try the black ginger loaf at Wild Oat on Bank Street.
Great brunch!. Service was suuuuper fast : we got our plates less than 15 min after ordering! Food was hot and tasty, portions were HUGE! we definately will return!
Phenomenal Eggs Benny. Fourth visit here and it did not disappoint (twice for dinner, twice for brunch). This was a couple of weeks ago and their eggs benny special was crispy pork belly with their delicious lemon diablo sauce and a spicy tomato salsa. WOW. It's worth the wait for brunch - don't get discouraged. You'll probably only wait about 15 minutes. My husband had the ribs and eggs - a first for him, but won't be the last. Our other companion had the omelet special - I have not seen an omelet this fluffy in ages. I love the nice touch of the owner circulating the room making sure everyone is satisfied. We'll be back!
Enjoyed a phenomenal brunch here this past weekend. Definitely one of the better ones I've had in a long time! Eggs Benedict was delicious, dining partner had the florentine and also raved. Coffee was fresh and our server, Jennifer, ensured that we were never empty, along with making spot-on menu recommendations for both this visit, and subsequent future ones (which there will be many more of). She was delightful, attentive but not intrusive. We were very pleased with all aspects of our first brunch experience here, and will be back for sure!
Amazing. Delicious. I'm not quite sure if I've written a review for his fantastic restaurant but it has become my FAVORITE place for brunch. A must try is the vegetarian bobby mac. I'm not a vegetarian and I was ecstatic about it and would talk about it to anyone who would listen! Bon appétit !

Great Breakie!. This is the place for a great breakfast. Big portions, lots of meat, great service and you won't leave hungry. Had the Big Breakfast with all the meats (bacon, sausage, ham, peameal bacon), 3 eggs and molasses toast. Does it get any better? If you are looking for a great breakfast place, head down to Preston and try this place out. It's worth the wait in line (be prepared to line up if you go after 10:30am!)
Only been here for breakfast and it has been Great every time! the South African gentleman who I think must be the owner is Really friendly.. a great warm atmosphere.. their Sourdough is delish, original twist on breakfast potatoes, proper omelettes. overall awesome, Highly recommend!
My sister and I went out for dinner on a Monday at Stone Face Dollys and both had a great well prepared meal. I am not a picky eater and hardly ever complain about a freshly prepared meal but I do value good service at a restaurant being in the service industry myself. I have to say that the server was friendly and polite but aside from that unfortunatly the service was less than great. Regardless I would definitely go back for the food!

Quality food made with care. Went for lunch and have a terrific lunch with colleagues. I had a steak sandwich, while my colleagues had a club sandwich and the breakfast brunch.
Everyone was extremely satisfied with their meal. Fresh quality ingredients made with care. My steak sandwich was cooked to order and came with a refreshing sping mix salad and german potato salad made with dill. Well balanced and made quickly.
Server was attentive, responsive and quick.
Overall a great place to eat and try some different lunch and breakfast combinations.
My only minor issue is that it gets a little smoggy over lunch as the place was fully booked. They need to improve the ventilation in the place to keep customers from smelling like the restaurant.
Bobby Mac!. My family and I have only tried the brunch here but we thoroughly enjoy! My husband's favorite is their eggs benedict and my favorite in the bobby mac. They also serve a great cup of coffee. If you go on a Sunday, expect there to be a line up!
Perfect for date or ladies night. I've gone multiple times with my beer snob hub - their beer selection is fantastic. I've tried all of their chicken dishes and always find their sauces perfect, their sides done just right. I also love the freshly made rolls (always served slightly warm) so delicious (and staff are always happy to provide extra on request for no additional charge). My hub loves the ribs - the meat is perfectly tender and the sauce is richly flavored. Our go-to place for a date or dinner with another couple. Service is excellent as well, very knowledgeable and not overbearing.
Omelette You Finish with a Toast!. Best Omelette in the city! No question! I ordered the Omelet No. 1 (Three eggs, basil pesto, tomato conasse, portobello mushrooms and your choice of brie, goat or gorgonzola cheese served with salad, home fries and homemade toast) $11.99. I went with the goat cheese and they did not hold back! The surprisingly generous amount of warm chevre baked inside was mouth watering and gave the tender omelette the perfect salty boost. Delicious! The homemade molasses toast was thick, buttery and just sweet enough not to fight with the other flavours on the plate. Loved it, to the very last bite. YUM!

Good but hyped. You know when you see restaurant merch in a glass case that, even if you're not visiting a chain, it may as well be considered a one-location-franchise.
Stone Face Dolly's has seriously good brunches, but charges *way* too much for what it delivers. It's worth exploring the other breakfast options on Preston for one that is less crowded and offers better value. Will the food be as good? Perhaps not quite, but it may end up being a worthwhile tradeoff.

My husband and I went to Stone Face Dolly's at 5 pm on a Thursday evening. We were the only people there for most of our meal and then one other person came in. Shortly after we ordered, the waiter came with a basket of 3 warm rolls and a plate of oil and vinegar. To start I ordered a cup of the soup of the day which was butternut squash. It was very good and perfect temperature. My husband ordered a small caesar salad which he thought was just ok, but too tangy. For an appetizer we shared the ravioli starter. It was delicious, but way overpriced at $12 for 4 small ravioli. My husband ordered the Jambalaya as a main and enjoyed it very much. I ordered the special of the day which was a Mariposa chicken breast with three kinds of potatoes, and corn in a butter and herb sauce. It was excellent. The chicken was cooked well and the skin, which I very rarely eat, was irresistible. We did not have dessert and we both drank water. Our meal was $76. The service was great. Our waiter was very attentive without being annoying. Empty dishes were picked up quickly and our glasses never went below half full before the waiter filled them. We would go back.
Located in the heart of little Italy this non Italian restaurant is worth a visit. We went to celebrate my daughters birthday on a tuesday evening. The tarragon chicken and almond crusted chicken were excellent. (Can not recommend the ribs, they did not fall off the bone as advertised and the dry rub was not impressive).The red pepper soup and the key lime pie were also very good. Reasonable selection of wines by the glass, half litre and bottle. Our server was very friendly, and attentive with out being intrusive. Prices were reasonable. On line reservation system worked well. Web site informative and up to date. A good experience all around.
Love the Bread!. Friends invited us to meet them here for brunch. Besides having a great time with friends we really enjoyed the meal, especially the bread. I was pleased to learn that the bread was for sale unfortunately it was all sold out. The restaurant graciously sent me the recipe but I have still haven't tried to make it. Guess I'll have to go back for the real thing - and soon.
Brunch A-hoy!. A second visit to Stone Face Dolly's for brunch and I was again impressed. Seated quickly with little wait and great service, our meal (eggs benny wih brisket) arrived promptly and was amazing. The restaurant is open and it can get noisy but that is the only draw back. Enjoy!

Fantastic!. Great restaurant! I love the mussells in basil cream, and the breakfast menu is phenomenal. The servers and waitresses are great also, Emily is our favourite. They had a live DJ night a while ago and I wish they would bring it back!
I've been there for brunch, lunch, and dinner. I've never been disappointed. They even prepare meals off the menu for kids at a reasonable price. Highly recommended for that special occasion.
Great experience at Del Piacere.
This restaurant is located in the heart of Ottawa's little Italy. The servers are very friendly and attentive. We loved the red wine suggestions. The plates are beautifully presented as you can see in my photos.
We ordered four cheese gnocchi, carbonara spaghetti and pizzas Marguerite and Romana. Marvelous food. We had desert creme brule and tiramisu. These are perfect if paired with an Italian espresso coffee.
It's definitely a five Stars restaurant.

We enjoyed a pizza evening, like the homemade one back in Rome. The pizza is huge , it feeds 2 easily, tasty and fresh. The Tiramisu is delicious. The quality/ quantity is very good and cost reasonable. Don’t forget to leave a generous tip for the exceptional staff with his beautiful Italian accent. A must visit if you’re in the neighbourhood, you won’t regret it.
They do have a parking lot close by.
Will try gelato next time but confident is delicioso 😎

Delicious pizza, very simple pepperoni that was huge . We had the caprese salad and it was good. Our server, excellent. The gelato was lovely ..lemon was tart! Raspberry and strawberry trio. Delsih.

Delicious food with decent prices. Limited seating for sure due to covid and also did not turn on the AC but was still comfortable. Could use more staff as the girl there was super busy. But for sure worth it to go for the food. Their pizza is amazing and their pasta is delicious with good portion. Also, their gelato was super yummy on a hot day. Will def recommend and will go back.
