An absolutely wonderful place of warmth and love. I worked at the Wild Oat when I was younger for a number of years on and off and find myself missing it immensely at times. It was such a great place to be whether you worked there or were a patron. Kind, loving people, excellent nutritious and delicious food, beautiful artwork on the walls, music and conversation filling the air, a home away from home.
I wish there were Wild Oat Bakerys all over the country because it’s such a perfect place to me and I wish I could swing by at a moments notice. Anyone who is in the area and hasn’t checked the place out please do!
To everyone I knew and grew with there I love you all! You are one of the best parts of Ottawa to me. I wish health, happiness and good times for everyone who sets foot inside. Be free, be wild!
Lots of gluten free options, I was in heaven :) Had a very friendly older gentleman serve us at the cash.
A wonderful cafe in Armstrong. It is absolutely beautiful and peaceful inside. Lovely staff. Great place to hang out, drink, eat and chat with friends.
I've been going to the Wild Oat Bakery Cafe for 15 years!!! This is my favorite establishment in the Glebe Ottawa. The food is exceptional and the service friendly and the atmosphere is funky ! Love you guys

Lovely people working on each side (bakery and Cafe). The brunch is fantastic. The special, egg sandwich and very veggie crepes are my top choices. Amazing coffee and good prices on beer. Great music in the evening as well!
The wild oat radiates with good vibes and yummy smells wafting from the kitchen. I have a love affair with the life bread. You can feel that the staff are commited to making your experience the most memorable and are dedicated to good healthy food that nourishes the soul. Wild oat, keep it wild :)
The spicy vegan brownie is the best brownie I have ever eaten. Amazing!
They're very high on the Awesomeness Scale.
Also been treated well there. Highly recommended.
Pecan Cinnamon Roll and Coffee. Sit in the window on a rainy day.
The wild oat for me is more than a beautiful café, is we're I met my other family , so much talented artist's that cares about the vibes of the food, the good environment and delicius meals, I will always have a place in my heart for the Wild Oat
Awesome sandich and soup, relaxing atmosphere and super friendly staff
Super yummy. Good local foods. Made a special design in the latte. Pizza was a must!
Awesome food, awesome people and ambiance. The whole family loves it, they have great people like Amanda and JP they always make us feel like home.
Great smoothies, friendly staff, fish is a great addition! Great early hours! Everyday visit type of place
I miss those jumbo bags of nuts/oats/seeds... etc. Can't find anything like that in Toronto. Great place, great food, great service. Must say the staff were super nice every time I visited.
When meeting up for a brunch with my friends who live downtown we sometimes choose this place. It’s a small place but food is always great. Bakery is attached to the place so we can always eat fresh home made bread and sweets. I tend to buy some bread to bring home.
This place is just so good all around. Amazing healthy options (the sandwiches are awesome), really good cafe drinks and baked goods. Good for a quick bite to eat or a to go meal. And the inside is so cute!
Amazing food and amazing staff. They source from their own farm so ingredients are top notch and always fresh. Never had a disappointing meal.
I visited this place for the first time today, and it honestly was amazing! I had their special eggs salmon Benedict for the day, and I ended up scrapping the plate! Nom nom nom! :) the coffee was great as well. Nice find! Definitely recommend!
Amazing place. Was really impressed by the quality of the food (very fresh), the amount of the food (filled my 220 pound boyfriend) and the cost ! Service was amazing as well !
This is a venue I can go to for casual occasion. The staff is friendly, the food is good and I love the ambiance. I highly recommend this restaurant
I've been coming here for lunch for years. I always get the small bowl for 5.75$ and fill it with whatever lunch option looks good. This comes with a bun and is very filling. Very delicious and reasonably priced.
Good coffee and avocado sandwich. Service itself was mediocre, definitely didn't feel like valued customers. On top of it - the sign posted saying at peak times to limit sitting / eating in for a max of 30 minutes, which was not inviting for a catch up with my friend for the brunch we came for. Otherwise, place was sustainable, self serve, and homey vibe. It's connected to the adjacent bakery too so you can buy a loaf of bread on the way out!
Enjoyed a late lazy breakfast on a recent trip to Ottawa. Enjoyed the coffee. The breakfast sandwich was made on house made croissant which was delicious, but I would do without the side of potatoes. Significant amount of potatoes were bits of over-cooked pieces, and the larger pieces were dried out. Breakfast sandwich is where it is at! We will return.
Love what this place has to offer! Great menu! They need to update their website hours though, as my husband and I paid for parking to find out that the sign on the door indicates they open at 8:30 and not 7:00 as indicated on the website.
Have a good variety of gluten free options and have a quaint atmosphere. Portions are on the small side. I'd recommend trying if are in the area.
I love going to the wild oat whenever I'm in town, it's very affordable and the food is always great. Definitely recommend it to other vegetarians!
I have tried several of the servings here and they were all delicious. Also it didn't take long to get a meal. And it is a pleasant, friendly and relaxed atmosphere with low prices. You can also pick up fresh bread, desserts and soups to go. Also it was fun to come during Folkfest and check out the band! A great place!
WILD OAT IS SUCH A BLESSING. Seriously, go here, you'll love it. Vegan friendly, vegetarian friendly, gluten-free friendly... just. Friendly. Love love love xx
Wonderful friendly cafe with a phenomenal bakery! Their scones and croissants of the day are to die for. We have been many times and will continue to visit for breakfast and lunch!
On a previous Friday for lunch I decided to spin my luck on the old the Zomato wheel of fortune to see where I would end up. First, a Sushi place. Nope, don't like Sushi (please leave all hate mail down below...tried it a couple of times from real Japanese places, just never acquired the taste for it).
So fresh and delicious. This place is great, the food, the staff, the atmosphere, and the coffee in beer mugs (exactly how much I need in the morning).
A must try!!! Loved the experience and loved the food!!! Organic, extremely fresh and tasty. Tried the Benny which I was worried since it was on a mushroom cap, very happy I chose this meal. Also I usually substitute potatoes or simply don't eat them but these ones were just amazing! Different and tasty! Definitely will go back to try different meals
Good veg options. The Wild Oat has a very good selection of vegetarian options on both sides - the take out and dining in section. Love their bread and cookies :)
Consistently reliable, tasty food. Whenever I end up in the Glebe around breakfast or lunchtime, I always seem to find my way to the Wild Oat. It's great, since it's got options for everyone in my family. Between a vegetarian, one who loves hearty meals, another who eats tiny amounts, and one who enjoys a good crepe, we can always find something tasty here.
Will be nack. Awesome. ..just awesome. ...definitely be back.....
Super Food, Surly Staff. Wild Oat has amazing food, whether its breakfast, lunch or anything in between. We only wish the Wild Oat staff displayed the same level of quality and care in their demeanor. While some staff are absolutely amazing and could not be more friendly (gentleman with the red hair in a ponytail who works weekday mornings is one of our favourite servers of all time) others act like serving you is an imposition and they would rather be doing anything, ANYTHING, other than taking your order. And heaven forbid if you ask a question - you may or may not even get an answer while the person who is supposed to be taking your order gazes out the window and makes you feel like you have completely ruined their day. Why work in job where you have to interact with people if you so obviously dislike dealing with people? Sadly, this surly behaviour is not limited to just one individual. Our experiences with several staff members have ranged from indifferent to downright rude. Bottom line - go for the food, and if you get friendly service, look at it as a bonus!!
Favourite breakfast, lunch and health snack/latté place in Ottawa.. Nowhere else tops quality, freshness, friendliness, organicness, and especially taste and creativity. Its just delicious, healthy food with and overall warm, family-friendly, cozy vibe. The ingredients used are awesome and taste amazing, it feels like getting a dose of natural vitamins every time we go. I love the beet and spinach smoothies, raw food options, omelets with sautéed vegetable and gluten-free options. The muffins are killer and the variety is great. The ultimate is probably the cinnamon buns, ESPECIALLY the cinnamon buns with the crème cheese topping. We also enjoy the buffet, one large dish is enough to feed our family, its fresh, vegetarian, diverse and very affordable. AUM.
Great every time. My mom adores the nut bread here and it's definitely made my life easier in terms of knowing what to bring her home when she's in a bad mood. I love all the sandwiches and I love that there are so many gluten free options. I'm not celiac myself but a lot of my friends are and I like being able to confidently share my delicious, you'd-never-know-it-was-gluten-free food with them! A little pricey, but quality food and a wonderful treat time to time.
Vegerific. Very tasted well presented food. The atmosphere is particularly gluten-free and non-GMO. Go for brunch!
My go to. Every time I walk by this place, I can't help but go in. I love the atmosphere in there, it's so warm and friendly. Every sandwich I've tried I've loved. It's a perfect place to unwind while enjoying some fresh food.
Quality food. The food is expensive but it is made using quality products. Very good food and excellent flavours! You will not be disappointed!
Good!. It's not really my cup of tea but I am a fan of their sandwiches. I always pop in around lunch and think about ordering take out but the steam tray display - right by the door- is really unappealing looking.
As I said the sandwiches are super healthy and good and the atmosphere is ok.
Lots if vegan options at a good price. Had a mango cardamom muffin which was lovely and an americano for under $4. The place fills up quickly and the cafe does not accept credit.
Pumpkin cinnamon rolls are to die for!! I am house sitting down the road from wild oat and have gone in almost daily!! Awesome good and awesome staff
I've been frequenting the bakery for over 22 years and visit the cafe almost monthly since they added it. I heartily recommend the cheese and dill bread heated, the cream cheese brownie. I bought the whole tray once. The goat cheese lasagna is my favorite. Not to be missed! My favorite romantic spot.
Absolutely wonderful. Wild Oat was the most wonderful place i've ever been. it was so friendly, happy, and had such a great atmosphere. the food was incredible. i recommend the East Meets West Panini or the Chocolate Hazelnut Pear Crepes. Delicious. Definitely worth a visit :) coming back as soon as possible
This place had extremely healthy organic vegan sandwiches that tasted amazing! Two thumbs way up.
Always fresh tasty and friendly...this is MY breakfast hangout.
Love the food!. I go there every time I can, even though I don't live so close. I'll make a point to go at least once a week after work and have dinner there and bring a couple of containers home for the rest of the week. They have a hot buffet and you can fill up a small medium or large bowl or container for a set price (I think somewhere between 5-10 dlls or so). Fill it as much as you can!
I really like their lasagnas (which you can get on the hot buffet) and all their food is always very fresh-looking, healthy and tasty. I have a sensitive stomach but the food here never upsets my stomach . The cook(s) definitely have talent. They change the menu often always maintaining that good seasoning.
I would definitely recommend it to someone looking for something healthy to eat. The place has a cool and relaxed vi tending to look a bit like a cafeteria (which I don't mind), but I wouldn't pick this place for a date night, as much as I love the food.
Love this place! I go all the time; their mochas are amazing! Unsweetened, but they ask if you want maple syrup! It compliments the chocolate so well. Great food as well. I only wish the place was a bit bigger cuz it gets so packed.
I come here all the time in between classes at Carleton. I usually grab a medium bowl and fill'her up and then get an El-Owaka(spelling?) To go. The buffet is always delicious and I love the variety without worrying about it containing meat. They also have a yummy homemade chai that I get everytime. Their home-made jam is so tasty! Warm place with friendly staff :)
Good Ol' Wild Oat. I go to this place on a regular basis usually when I forget my lunch at home or happen to be in the Glebe and feel like a sweet treat. Today I had wine-braised cabbage, red lentils and a no-cheese spelt crust pizza. At $12, it was a little more than I would like to spend for lunch, but it's nearly three hours later and I'm still full. As someone with a long list of food intolerances, I appreciate the variety or delicious desserts and how they list every ingredient. It's not for everyone - if your idea of breakfast involves hitting up a fast food drive-through, you probably won't like it. More for me!
You have to try it!!. On a sunday morning, I wanted to try a nice bakery/cafe for breakfast so I came to see reviews on Urbanspoon! It s #1 on the list so I reallly wanted to try it. Really enjoyed it. Nice coffee, good egg-croissant breakfast sandwich. Causy place, far from a chain!
Spelting It Out For You. I had received a gift certificate for Wild Oat as a Christmas present and was excited to try a new place that I had never heard of before. There was very little digging needed before I learned that Wild Oat Bakery is known for their vegetarian and gluten free options. I went for lunch with a friend on a Saturday afternoon and we were lucky to grab a table just as we had placed our order.
I got the El Oaxaca (Wild Oat's black bean spread, wild oat's sun-dried tomato tapanade, old cheddar, avocado, tomato, red onion, chipotle pepper, cilantro & mixed greens) on multi-grain bread. 6.25. I was surprised the modest looking sandwich was so full of authentic flavours and contrasting textures. It was absolutely delicious.
My friend ordered the Wild Card (Choice of goat cheese or tahini, ginger, garlic sauce, roasted beets, roasted portobello mushrooms, caramelized onions, fresh tomato & mixed greens) on multi-grain bread. 6.25. He opted for the goat cheese and really enjoyed the quick bite and we both agreed we would come back again to try the Crepe side of the menu.
This place is so rad, The food and tea are both so good and reasonably priced I would recommend this to anyone for a good sit down sandwich and tea join it is by far my fave in ottawa! The employee's are awesome as well!
Stopped in for a Saturday lunch with friends. We only had to wait a short while for a table but a little longer for our food. Amazing grilled cheese sandwich with pesto and tomatoes. I got a side salad for $4 more but wouldn't as it is so small. Now serving gluten free bread!
Converted. Good food. Fair Price. Great Selection. Trendy vibe.
The place has character; as do the dishes
Good food, decent prices!. Love this place so much I have brunch there several times a month. The only downfoall is how small it is... they really need to open a location in Westoboro too! It's worthwhile to treck through Bank St. construction to bite into a creatively made sandwich or those lovely crepes!
Zippy coffee.. Myself and the kids love hanging out in this place. Great for early before school breakfast when you are so fed up with that routine thing. Coffee always hits the spot. The kids give a big thumbs up to the croissants. They love hanging out in the window on the tall bar stools or just playing with the toys. Always friendly service. A hip place to be and just love listening to all the gossip going around the place.
Casual place to have a quick bite with friends. Cheap, good service and great food. I ate at the Wild Oat twice and enjoyed it a lot. Many wheat-free options. Nice place to have breakfast or lunch. The bakery also offers a great selection of desserts.
One of my favourite restaurants. I love this place. I go about once a month and the staff have always been pleasant.
Breakfast on the weekends is great, but the restaurant fills up quickly so go early or be prepared to wait for a table. The breakfast menu is small. There are crepes with a variety of toppings, a few different egg dishes and I think some sort of hot cereal either oatmeal or creamed buckwheat. I like the selection of teas, the homemade jam and the option to order gluten free bread.
The wild oat also sells a variety of unique sandwiches with gourmet and tasty ingredients such as brie, apple, caramelized onions, pesto, tofu, hummus, sprouts etc.
I really like the raw veggie pizza. It is a flaxseed cracker with mixed veggies (carrots, beets, avocado, lettuce etc.) on top with a maple balsamic vinagrette. I like to let the dressing soak for about 15 minute then the crust softens up and I can roll up the pizza into a burrito of sorts. Less messy to eat that way.
I usually grab some curry or soup from the bakery side before I leave.
Best croissant in Ottawa. Perhaps even the best croissant I've had in Canada. The plain butter croissant is wonderful, and the goat cheese rosemary croissant is crazy decadent.
I also love the moroccan and no-cheese pizzas, as well as the brunch cookies.
Get healthy. They have a pretty good, yet quite expensive lunch set out in a hot table. The breakfast and raw pizza are exceptional. Great espresso.
Great breakfast! Really healthy food!! I'm normally not a fan of healthy but my friend wanted me to try and it was fantastic!! Best homemade jam you will ever try!!
Can get expensive and selection of hot food is sometimes hit or miss, but a solid offering of slow food that keeps us coming back.
Vegetarian breakfast, lunch and bakery. Good food, great coffee. Generally great staff, but a few may give some "hippie" attitude re: service.
Really nice staff at a really cozy environment. Food has been exceptionally delicious. It was the healthiest meal for me this whole week.
I decided to treat myself to a warm breakfast, so I trotted down to the Wild Oat to see what I could rustle up. Once there, I discovered you can get gluten-free toast with your breakfast. That made me a happy girl. I'm not sure when they started doing this, but it means I'll be making a lot more breakfast visits to this place. I ordered a luxurious breakfast which came with roasted veggies, home fries (made with regular AND sweet potatoes!), two eggs, slices of fresh fruit and hot buttered gluten-free toast and jam on the side. It was all delicious and I gobbled up every last bite. The GF toast was really tasty and had a nice texture. I almost forgot I wasn't eating "real" bread. While there, I also discovered they can make any of their sandwiches on gluten-free bread! I keep hearing the sandwi
My whole family (including teenagers) loves this place. We are big fans of the smoothies, grilled cheese/pesto sandwich, smoothies (all yummy), bread, cookies, kale salad (amazing). And I just had a butter tart from here today. Wow! Nice atmosphere and cozy vibe. You can also pick up some groceries and homemade soups, etc., in their fridges.
I visited Wild Oat for the first time today. Beautiful spot. I was warmly greeted as soon as I walked in the door. The decor is warm and inviting. I bought an Americano for a friend (he said it was delicious), and I had a smoothie. There were lots of yummy looking organic foods for sale inside as well. Will definitely go back! My only tiny complaint is the straws for the smoothies are tiny, and the fruit seeds get stuck in the straws!
My favorite bakery in Ottawa. Always greeted with happy people at the front desk, great coffee, and fantastic bread. Would recommend their fruit nut loaf and plain croissant. Their prices are phenomenal - in three years have never had a bad purchase.
Great bakery. In my opinion the best in the area. Their sourdough, multigrain and herb and olive breads are incredible, and I absolutely love their chocolate cake, croissants and muffins. They are also very friendly, and the space inside is well decorated and inviting.
Mmmm. Friendly staff, tasty food, what more could you ask for? They have a rotating menu of baked goodies flavours so it’s important to pop in often! Prices are comparable with similar places in The Glebe (a but on the steep side) but are well worth the freshness, at least once in a while.
They have the best desserts! And have many gluten free options. They will do big orders of desserts for events. I had them do 100 of each dessert I wanted for my wedding.
So cute! They offer tons of yummy and unique options, sweet and savoury. Everything we tried was delicious, the lemon square is *super* tart which I love. The baguette is crispy and soft in the most perfect way. A little on the pricey side but that’s to be expected for high quality homemade baked goods!
Sooo good the service was very friendly and prompt, we went Sunday morning for breakfast and got there before it started to pick up.
Smoothies were delicious and the food options were clean and filling, while being well cooked and very tasty! A must go
