Review Bite Burger House - Ottawa

This is a solid place to get a burger. Service was friendly. Their smokey ketchup grew on me and their fries were good. Some of the burgers were pepper crusted which was interesting. They have a nice patio in the back.

Fish and chips for $13 bucks was such a great deal! I love the flakiness and cripsiness of the fish batter! Also, their deep fry ice cream portion was huge! I finished the whole thing but it can feed 2 people easily! Their menu is very reasonably priced for a place in Byward Marker/downtown! Great job guys!

I rarely give out five stars, but this is one of the best burger place around. The meat is medium well. I tried the mushroom burger, it was pretty good. It's a bit expensive but the patty is thicker than most other places and the burger was delicious. More topings/condiments would make it even better!

What a fantastic place. The ambiance on the back patio was very cool with a funky, fun vibe. Our waitress was outstanding!! Very knowledgeable, friendly and worked her tail off. The food was very creative, fresh and the condiments were all house made; they were brilliant. Our friends and family from London will surely be expected to eat here when travelling in Ottawa. I wish we had this place back home but most certainly, will come back again really soon.

Best burger I have ever had. I got Nana’s favourite. The chips and house made guacamole is amazing, and the drinks are great too. Highly recommend the cucumber one (can’t remember what it was called). Great staff and lovely pack patio!

EXCELLENT and delicious hand made burgers! We have been with extended family at both locations and both offer top notch service and excellent value and quality. Staff is fantastic and cheery! We finally found the best hamburgers in Ottawa!

The best burger place in Canada. I’m telling you, if you don’t come to that restaurant, you’re missing big time: great service, enjoyable moment, beautiful people, good beer, tasty wine, and this is so far the best food in Ottawa.

The burgers are well worth and the service is amazing. They need to have a little more sitting space because it can be pretty packed and the wine selection needs a little bit if work. All in all a very nice and good burger place in Ottawa.

We had Steam Whistle beer and shared the spicy chicken nachos. They were very good. May have been better if they had a little sour cream on the side. I mentioned that to the waitress when we were settling our bill and was told we could of had some at an extra cost. Really!

This was the second best veggie burger I've ever had in my life...only being beat out by a food truck! The atmosphere is quaint & laid back, & the food is drool inducing! So good. Will definitely eat here every time I'm in Ottawa :-D

While searching for the best burger the Ottawa has to offer, I came across the Bite Burger House. In combination with practically everything made in house fresh daily, the extensive menu of burgers was impressive. I now have to try them all. I'll most def be back.

Went a couple weeks ago on a Saturday afternoon, food was fantastic, had the best burger ever! However, the place was full and there was only 1 server working. We got our drinks right away, but it took a while to get our waters refilled, to place our orders, and to get our bills. I have no doubts that if there would have been more servers working, our visit would have been 5/5

I am no Burger Connoisseur but this burger ticked every box. The Chuck itself was cooked perfectly. Flame grilled medium to well with a little pink meat in the middle. It had that BBQ taste with all the juiciness you'd ever want. That's just to start. The burger I chose was "The Flamer": Flame broiled chuck • Smoked bacon • Jalapenos • Cheddar whiz The smoked bacon was cooked just right. The Jalapenos were fresh and extremely tasty and last of All that Cheddar Whiz was just dripping from the burger. Perfect. I chose the fries to go with this as I assume many would. Cooked to a nice crisp level they were extremely tasty. Especially dipped in the Smokey Ketchup provided! Overall an awesome meal. I will be returning in the near future to try more Burgers!!

Burgers were great! I had The Flamer burger and it was excellent. My girlfriend had The Bite burger. She loved it. Truffle fries were also amazing. My gf and I agreed it was one of the best burgers we have ever had.

Everything was fantastic - the atmosphere, music, service, food, and the beverage selection. My vegetarian friend was even able to enjoy a good selection!

Best place for flavourful burgers and other delights. Excellent choice of microbrews on tap. The daily specials are always fun to try. Homemade ketchup and mustard. And the staff are always amazing!

Went there with my brother, mom, and dad last night. We all really enjoyed it. The atmosphere is great, great service, very polite staff, and the food was excellent. <br/><br/>Big selection of craft beer (30 or so) and a good selections of cocktails too. Their food menu is quite simple to read. They have many items on the menu for various types of taste buds. The appetizer section nacho section , and burger section I would need a dozen visits to try everything I know I would immediately enjoy, and a few more times to try the more adventurous items. my family all had various burgers and two of us had truffle fries. The regular fries are good, their truffle fries are really good. The meat in the burgers was amazing. We all had a bite of each other’s burgers. Fresh veggies, home made mustard and ketchup. We all tried the dessert deep fried spring rolls (not actually spring rolls they just call it that so that you are intrigued enough to look at what their description underneath it is). Great tactic on their part for doing it because their description of it was enough for us to want to try it, and we are happy we did they were really good. It felt very light for something deep fried, which is not a bad thing at all. <br/><br/>I will be back here easily a dozen more times to try the rest of their menu. <br/><br/>I highly recommend this place. <br/><br/><br/>

hands down, best burgers in town. I consider myself a bit of a burger snob and Bite Burger House is a home run every time we go. I most recently had the lamb burger and it was fantastic!<br/>

Between my friend and I, we've tried just sbout every burger on the menu - let me tell you they are all delicious, juicy and the best burgers in Ottawa. Their house ketchup and mustard are devine , and I'm not a ketchup person. You never leave the restaurant hungry, but you do come back for more.

Very good variety of burger, and very well presented. We had 4 different burgers and they were very tasty, and excellent flavour. Now not to forget the nachos very good and served differently. A place to go back.

Sat out in the back deck and enjoyed the 20 oz. beer Sampler choice and the Blueberry Basil Lemonade. For burgers we had the Mac Daddy w/Classic Poutine side and the Fire Burger w/Mac and Cheese side. Burgers were excellent! Mac and Cheese and Classic Poutine was good. Service was great, waters were kept filled and our server and others came around four or five times to ask how things were going.

Everyone ordered something different. Varying from the fish to what I ordered was the cheddar wiz (I think that's what its called). The burgers are juicy and their cheddar cheese sauce was very good. It's a small restaurant and service was mediocre.

The Bite Me burger (chuck, cheddar, double smoked bacon) was juicy and delicious, although I ended up eating it with a fork and knife because the brioche bun is too soft to support the weight of the meat and toppings. I prefer a crustier bread that doesn't get soggy. The truffle fries were delicious but expected a bigger portion for the price of the meal.

My husband and me went there for a work Christmas party. He had the porkapalispe (spelling..) and I had the Funguy burger. We both had truffle fries, soup and salad, pickle chips, chicken strips, mac and cheese patties, and pull pork nachos. Everything we ate was fantastic, full of flavour, cooked perfectly, and just the right amount. They have the best truffle fries I've ever had and they make their whiskey sours perfectly! Our server was great and had extensive knowledge on the drinks and food. We will totally be back!

I really enjoyed the vegetarian bean burger. Overall, the service was great and the ambiance is very hip and cool. Would definitely go back.

I had the pork belly burger (Pig Pen) and poutine. The pork belly was grounded into a succulent patty (surprising) and the brioche was not overly doughy. Freshly baked. The poutine had real cheese curds and creamy gravy. A gourmet burger in a funky setting. Prices are slightly higher end, but the quality justifies it.

I wanted to love this place but found myself leaving a bit underwhelmed. The service was attentive and the food was quick, but the portions were on the smaller side and my brisket burger was falling apart on the plate in front of me. I wouldn't rule out going back, but I'm in no rush, especially with Chez Lucien just down the street. I was also surprised by their lack of beef burger options. On a positive note, the brioche buns were delicious and I liked that they give you pop in a bottle instead of from a fountain, fries were good even if I wished there had been more. Maybe I'll go back and try a different burger and the rating will go up.

Just got back from Bite, and I had a cheese curd stuffed ribeye burger with carmalized onions and aioli on a brioche bun. The burger itself was pretty good, although I think I would prefer a regular patty instead of the ribeye. There were only two other tables seated yet the waitress still managed to give us poor service. She was constantly rushing us and had a bit of an attitude. Oh well, not that big of a deal.

-27 degrees and it was a perfect day for a burger. It was our first time visiting Bite Burger. I had the Pig Pen and my husband had the Bite Me which were both really flavourful and juicy. I upgraded and had the Truffle Fries which was really good. The service and atmosphere was great and we will definitely come back and also recommend this establishment to family and friends.

Perhaps a little over priced, Bite Burger is a place we like to go when we want to treat ourselves, but still just want a greasy burger and fries. Delicious topping without being over the top, amazing sides, unbelievable homemade condiments and great local craft beers on tap. Staff has always been super friendly.

Delicious! Unique burgers! Recommend it for anybody who loves burgers :) The goat cheese filled burger delicious and the pineapple pork burger was amazing. Fries crispy, Mac and cheese was also comfort food at its best!

I really enjoyed Bite Burger. I had the Bite Me Burger; fairly basic, but delicious. Bacon, cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion, pickle on a juicy beef burger with a side of fries. I really liked how it is served with smokey ketchup, despite other comments, it is really good; as well as dijon mustard, which I wasnt a huge fan of, but to each their own. Overall, I would recommend Bite Burger to anyone who likes a good burger. They have lots of options, great apps, a nice drink selection and a chill environment. Go try it out!

I really enjoyed my visit to Bite's. I had the Blue cheese burger which was amazingly good along with the "truffle" fries, also excellent though I'm not sure if they're worth $2 more than just the regular fries. Great place I'll be returning to.

Generally a disappointment. I had the burger that contains two patties, panko-crusted mac and cheese, bacon, and mornay sauce. This sounded like the most luscious thing imaginable, but the burger was simply dry as dust, and overseasoned to boot so it was a sort of salty bit of charcoal. The bacon was so dried out I thought it was a piece of cinammon bark- I am not exaggerating. The accompanying fries were nice enough but the "house made smoked ketchup" was as disgusting as it sounds- it's bbq sauce, which has no place anywhere near fries.<br/><br/>Service was fast and friendly. The food was simply not good.

Best Burger in Town!. Stopped in during winterlude because we had heard how great the burgers are. Sat at the bar, and our bartender Betina was fantastic! Very knowledgeable about the menu, and accommodating for my wife's finicky eating requirements. The poutine is amazing as well! Also enjoyed that I have a great micro brew selection and my wife has a nice wine selection. Definitely recommend and will return.

The food was decent, but nothing special – as in, we could have made the same burgers at home and they would have just as good. The service was shoddy at best, and we didn’t really feel like valued customers. My side salad was soggy and unedible… soo yeah, we probably won’t be back. Facebook -->

Rude staff. Definitely won't be back, staff was rude (swearing and saying rude things while talking to each other in the dining room), no refills, food took forever and was cold, manager was too busy to talk to us so we just paid and left, got a dirty look for the 10% tip but frankly she deserved 0% everyone but her served our table it seemed and we waited 20 minutes at an empty table to pay

Great first date restaurant . My date and I heard about this new place and wanted to try it out. The food was awesome, had the pig pen :) sooo yummy and he had the fun guy. Service was great and will definitely go back.

Terrible food, terrible service. Went to Burger Bite this Saturday with friends because of all the hype about this place. Atmosphere was great, I'll give them that; however food, terrible. <br/><br/>We went there for dinner, ordered around 40 minutes later (which was our fault as we didn't know what we wanted to have) and got it an hour later. We were so hungry by that point that we started devouring our food. I realized my burger (the chicken coop) was cold, but didn't want to say anything to my friends because I thought were enjoying their food. And yes, we did not tell our server at the time that we found the food cold realizing either way that it already took us an hour to get our food so why ask for it to be remade? For me to wait 2 hours? Considering I'm 8 months pregnant, I didn't even want to ask for that. <br/>As it turned out, all our food was cold and quite disappointing. The chicken didn't seem homemade, the buns were cold and the mac and cheese was awful. <br/><br/>By the time we managed to ask our server for our bills (he was "busy" chatting with some other servers for a nice long while), we had been there for over 2 hours. When came the time to pay, we kindly decided to just let the server know it was cold, without wanting any discount since we had asked for our bills. The waiter got very defensive and basically told us that he couldn't tell if the food was cold or not when he picked it up, and when he asked us if it was good, we say yes. Yes would should have said it earlier, but there was no point especially knowing how long it took originally. <br/><br/>The positive. The truffle fries were delicious even cold and it looked like other people enjoyed their food. <br/><br/>Unfortunately will not be coming back.

SENSATIONAL. Went with a group of five, Laura was our server and she went above and beyond to please a difficult person which was a part of our party. We all had different burgers and they all exceeded our expectations. Special shout out to the pork belly burger with jalapeño creme cheese and DIVINE mac and cheese. Can't wait to come back!

Loved it! Excellent food and service. Best burger I've had in along time (I had the Louie Luau but with beef instead of pork belly), and the liquor selection is quite good. The lovely server helped me decide on a tromba blanco with basil simple syrup and soda water!

Burgers were fresh, delicious and very filling! However, I have had better and it was a little over priced - BUT we had the pulled pork nachos - that's where it's at!!! All of the non burger food looked so so good, but I was set on getting a burger - if I get the chance to go back, I'll be trying all the other stuff :)

Love it!!. Amazing food, staff and atmosphere. We love this place. The burgers are to die for and the beers are all craft brewed and delicious. They make great cocktails too! What a great place for the family or in our case, a bachelor party on a wed eve. A real gem in the byward market. Lovelovelove it!

Love it!. Ever since accidentally stumbling upon this place I've been dying to give it a try so when me and a friend had lunch planned I decided to finally check it out and I certainly do not regret my decision! Off the bat you'll notice that the exterior is the cutest little thing, literally a house turned restaurant/bar. Front porch used as a patio and backyard as another dining section which I found gives the place a very intimate feel to it. The staff was great and very friendly! The food was also amazing, I do not remember which burger I chose but it was delicious nonetheless! Didn't feel grossly filling and the patty had a very unique taste to it. Definitely going to be visiting a lot more often.

Ok food but bad service. Went with a group of friends for dinner on Canada Day. Surprisingly, it wasn't very busy -- otherwise the poor service might have been excused. <br/><br/>We sat at a table that had just been vacated. It was quickly cleared for us, but not cleaned, and there was still a bunch of food on it when we were seated. We asked someone who was pouring water if we could have our table wiped down. He said sure then never came back. We then asked our service and he came to wipe it down with a dry napkin. Not only was that gross, but we could have done that ourselves. <br/><br/>Our waiter seemed very shaky and nervous and at one point knocked a glass of wine all over my husband's plate, soaking his meal. My husband quickly picked up his burger, but not before the bun got wet. The waiter offered to bring replacement fries, but did nothing about the burger -- even at the end of the night when he could have comped all or part of it. <br/><br/>The waiter then refilled my husband's glass of wine when it a glass across the table that he had knocked over. We had to ask him to refill that one too. Again, considering the gaff, it would have been nice to have top ups all around since we had a mess of wine all over our table. <br/><br/>After the meal, we waited forever to pay. I had to go inside and get the server, who was standing around watching TV. Again, it was not busy. And it was Canada Day. I would have expected much better service considering what had happened during our meal and the fact that people typically have plans beyond just dinner on a holiday evening. <br/><br/>The food was pretty good, but the service left us wondering whether we'd like to go back. I did not feel like a valued guest at all.

Fresh. Awesome place for lunch!! Everything is made fresh and the burgers taste really clean because they aren't frozen patties. Prices are very reasonable too. Service wasn't the fastest though, but the whole experience was well worth it. Definitely worth visiting

I'll go back for another Bite. Service was excellent. Knowledgable staff who were friendly but not overbearing.<br/><br/>Food was great. Group had poutine, burgers, and super frico, and all of us enjoyed it. They also have a great selection of beers.<br/><br/>The price is very reasonable! This allowed me to justify the $2 and get the truffle fries, which you shouldn't miss.<br/><br/>Will definitely come back.

Delicious!!!!. I've now been to this place about 5 times and every time I try something new. I have not been disappointed, with the food, the service, the drink options and especially the price. They have a wonderful patio hidden out the back if dining alfresco is your thing (and living in Canada with only six weeks of Summer, it should be!)<br/><br/>The servers are really knowledgeable and I have no problem asking for drink recommendations to go with whatever I have ordered. MMMM, I now have a craving for pulled pork! You gotta try it.

Wonderful Experience. I was in Ottawa on business and a friend of mine told me about this 'must try' place that he recently discovered. He told me that they had the best burgers he had ever eaten. Now, I've had some pretty good burgers in my day, but I will admit that these burgers are in a league of their own. The food was fantastic, the atmosphere was phenomenal, and the service was fabulous. If I am ever in Ottawa again for any reason, I'm definitely going back, and bringing as many people as I can with me.

Great food, great service and a great experience.. There is too much good stuff to try at Bite to get through during your first visit. I was in Ottawa on business (sadly from too far out of town for a return visit) and my party of five had one of the best meals and best experiences we have had in a restaurant in quite a while. My friend and I ordered the PigPen and the Big Bleu and decided to split both burgers so that we could try more. The Pig Pen was amazing, but the Big Bleu took the prize. You really can't go wrong with either of them. The truffle fries were also a hit with my party, but I especially loved the poutine - the gravy was something else!<br/><br/>More than the food being fantastic, our server was just the right balance of available, and absent (so as not to hover) and he was charmingly sarcastic (in the best sense - he was really fun). I would go back to Bite Burger in a heartbeat if I find myself back in Ottawa. Kudos to the team. Mission Accomplished.

Best burgers ever!. Having recently spent a week in Ottawa I planned to eat at a different restaurant every meal. After the first supper at Bite Burger House I knew that would not be the case. Three meals later I can say for sure they have the best burgers I have every had!!! Tried three different burgers and three different varieties of fries - all were good. The fact that everything is made in house (including the catchup and mustard) ads to the unique flavors. It's not fast food - allow yourself time for a leisurely meal but it's well worth the wait!

Fun and supports local businesses. We went here with around 30 friends and the service was impeccable (first time we ate on the patio, second time in the middle section). Food is out of this world! The group ordered everything from the burgers, pulled pork, poutines, nachos... Everything was top notch! Great spot to have a drink, watch a game or grab a bite to eat.

Needs to shape up or ship out!. I came up for a visit and went with a friend to this place. First time there. The buns were stale and dry tasting and their truffle fries were awful. The burger itself was pretty good but for 14 bucks -it wasn't worth it. Not a good first impression. Better taking your time and money somewhere else in the Market or if you want a good burger go to The Works!

Potentially the worst service in the market. My parents came into town for the weekend, so I wanted to take them for dinner. I took them to Bite because it was new and I wanted to try it. But we received some of the worst service I’ve encountered in Ottawa; our food came late and cold, our drinks took forever and remained empty of our table long after they were finished, and we likely saw our server three times through the whole night. Not only was the service slow it was also unapologetic for the timing and cold food. I had to apologize to my parents as I was the one at fault for making a reservation at Bite.

Second to that our dinner companion’s drinks took (no word of a lie) 15+ minutes to arrive, and the restaurant was not busy. Our server made no attempts to apologize for the wait... nor at any point did he even crack a smile. An angry fella. Our food came within reasonable time (so I can’t comment there) and, although I enjoyed the fries, the burger was no more satisfying than one’s laziest attempt at building a burger at home. Don’t get me wrong, I love homemade BBQed burgers. But when I go to a burger restaurant I want to say “Wow! That’s a great burger!” Sadly, that did not happen. It was not bad, but it was not outstanding. If I’m eating dinner at a burger bistro I want it to be outstanding, not standard. <br/><br/>And then we sat and waited... and waited... Our server constantly running around empty handed, as though he were training for his next speed-walking marathon... Eyes always straight ahead... never looking at his tables.... The table next to us suffered the same fait, as a result of the waiter’s carelessness. We sat with empty plates for far longer than we should have.<br/><br/>All in all, an unfortunate first impression and a terrible dinning experience.<br/><br/>If you’re going to have a subpar menu, please, impress me with service.<br/><br/>If you’re going to offer subpar service, please, impress me with your menu.<br/><br/>This establishment, sadly, had both a subpar menu and service.<br/><br/>If you’re looking for your next burger experience I would recommend Chez Lucien, Hintonburger, or any of the WORKS locations. <br/><br/>Save yourself time, money, and a headache. Don’t eat at BITE.

Burgers are really tasty and service was prompt. <br/><br/>The downside: it is very noisy and the appetizers are very limited and not really to share. How does one share Mac and cheese without double dipping? Also, they offer fries as a side, don't want them as an app too. <br/><br/>Dessert trio was a good idea tho

AMAZING. Best burger I've ever had in my life. Staff was great, open concept, and a great beer, wine, and cocktail selection. One of my favourite spots in the city. Will be back here for sure!

Had a great experience here last night. We were celebrating a work milestone and had a fantastic time. Friendly service, thoughtful management, and delicious food. I was very happy with my meal. I ordered the Big Bleu, and found it was top notch. I also upgraded to the truffle fries. I'm not normally a French fry guy, but these were to die for. I'll definitely return, best gourmet burgers in town.

Disappointing. A little disappointed to be honest.<br/><br/>Ordered a mac and cheese to share, dish was cold. Tried waiting for our server to come and do his "2-bite" check, but he never came around. Wasn't really sure if the intention of the dish is to be served cold. Might have been a lot better if it was served hot but no way of knowing. Ended up eating the dish because we were very hungry.<br/><br/>Ordered a funguy and a ribeye. Overall, the food definitely took a while to get to us. I can understand cooking burgers/food fresh, but if a burger is going to take over 20 minutes to reach the table because of the time it takes to cook, I think it would be a strong policy to advise guests as much - helps alleviate the perception of food taking a long time if people are already in the mindset that it will take at least 20 minutes.<br/><br/>The burgers themselves were good but not spectacular. For the price, the ribeye burger gave off the perception of being too much on the high end. I don't know. It's hard to explain. I guess the price wasn't justified by the flavor of the overall burger even if the individual components used are more expensive ingredients.<br/><br/>Drink list looked pretty cool. And the interior was definitely very much in line with the current trends in Ottawa. Not sure how I feel about going back. Might give it another try to see if the first experience was just an aberration. But I'm not sure if I'll be rushing back.

Great experience at Bite...Food was original fresh and tasty...had the veggie burger and truffle fries...will definitely be back for another taste of the menu...and to try some more of their cocktails...juice is fresh squeezed!!

We were looking forward to trying Bite tonight (April 18) but after being seated and no one coming to take our order for 30 min. We left.

Mmmm, delicous!. Stopped by this new spot over this past weekend with a few friends. Ordered the funguy burger. The meat itself was probably the best I've had in a long time. So tender and flavourful! Normally I like to have a lot of toppings and sauce when I have a burger, so I was a little bit weary when I received the burger and it did not have much at all. But then that first bite proved why they did not need to use much added flavours. Looking forward to coming back to see what the full menu offers and trying some more of their cocktails!

Best burgers in town!. These are definitely the best burgers in Ottawa! Should definitely try the Rib Eye burger, its amazing. Drinks are great too. Once you try the fries, you wont want anything else. Definitely recommend.

... a homemade pickle that is so perfectly pickled. I don’t know how hard it is to mess up the pickling process, but I’m pretty sure they nailed it here. In addition to the homemade pickle, you will also find on the plate their homemade ketchup (or catsup) and homemade mustard. I’m not a huge mustard guy, but I’m sold on this homemade stuff.
