Great little place for brunch, and they have a whole vegan menu which is awesome !! I got a savoury crepe with "cheese", mushroom and spinach and it was Delish and super friendly service ! Will def be back :) (maybe the sweet English can be added to the vegan menu somehow too?�)
Great place for dessert first! Delicious crepes, very friendly service, and great atmosphere to lounge in. Highly recommend the Mont Blanc crepe (white chocolate) and if you can, add Grand Marnier. Amazing!
Very cute and cozy spot. The crepes are delicious! I had a teriyaki chicken crepe that tasted so good I would have eaten another! Then I had the white chocolate with coconut one!! The service was very good!!

What a wonderful gem of a place. My husband and I, along with our kids ate here this evening and left full and satisfied. We had crepes and dessert which were both amazing. The owner was very welcoming and the place itself was warm and cozy. We will definitely be back. Thank you so much for a wonderful, affordable night out.

I can't recommend this place highly enough! Although they are justifiably known for their desserts, for example sweet crepes... they also serve amazing - and enormous - savory crepes, both regular wheat flour ones and truly kickass gallettes de sarrazin (delicious all-buckwheat crepes) for the gluten intolerant or anyone else who adores buckwheat crepes! They have a variety of fillings ranging from smoked salmon to chicken breast and pesto and many other choices. including stuff for vegetarians as well as a vegan menu - truly something for everyone. A wonderful spot for either a very reasonably priced lunch or early dinner. If you have room after a crepe (and that will be difficult, as they are very filling!) the creme brulee is beyond fantastic and of course they have a huge selection of home made chocolates. You can also get Callebaut hot chocolate which will blow you away. The only mild complaint is the decor but it's kind of charming in a visiting your maiden aunt's kind of way. A recent change of ownership has done nothing to dampen my enthusiasm for the place. Go! You will NOT be disappointed.
I absolutely love this place. The ambiance is perfect and the crêpes and chocolate delicious!!! I'm not in town as often as I'd like, but whenever I am, my partner and I make sure to stop in. I highly recommend to anyone who loves chocolate (and you get the benefit of supporting a great local restaurant)!!
This place is great! I always bring my wife, and the atmosphere is cozy and welcoming :) The chef clearly puts so much care and thought into everything he makes and the food IS EXCELLENT!! Best hot chocolate I've ever had in my life !!! This is a #1 Ottawa destination for sure
My friends and I enjoyed this cozy place for dessert last night. Although they were low on chocolate and out of marshmallows for the chocolate fondue, the server did his best to accommodate. And it was good.
My boyfriend and I have been here several times. It's our favourite crepe spot in Ottawa. Always a friendly environment. Super cozy seating. Homemade chocolate. Try the brownies too... They'll blow your mind!

Always a fantastic time when coming to this quaint spot in the heart of Wellington village. When walking in the door one is always greeted with a welcoming hello. This place can get busy at times and is not huge so you can expect a wait on the weekends.
Expect to find your own seat and grab a Menu and once ready to order go up to the kitchen and get your name in line.
The food is exceptional and are truly some of the best crapes I have had anywhere in the city, full of fresh ingredients. Highly recommend this spot to even the pickiest foodie!
Delicious crepes and fantastic desserts!! Sweet or savoury, you really can't go wrong! We also tried their chocolate cheesecake with Oreo crust and a vanilla ice cream that's made in store - you can even see the little flecks of real vanilla beans so you know it's great quality. The ice cream itself is such a treat even though it's technically an add on - thick and custardy and not icy and watery like the typical ice cream you'd get from a container. Definitely a great spot to come for breakfast - cozy atmosphere and Omar is so friendly!
This is a wonderful place to go on a first date! The atmosphere is cosy and warm and the crepe are amazing! The only thing is that their chai lattes are not sweet so add sugar and you'll be good! I highly recommend this place!
I visited a thing for chocolate in the middle of the week, late in the afternoon. The store has a cozy home feel to it, but was very small and crowded. (i bumped into another customer a couple times trying to get to my seat) I was with a friend. We were greeted kindly , and because of it being our very first time at this restaurant, we were explained how it worked. We then took a menu and right away chose the House Special. It took a long time to prepare but it was worth it because of how nice it was presented and how good it tasted. One thing that caught my attention was how sour the raspberries were! I couldn't stand them, and nor could my friends. I picked each and everyone of them out of my crepe. Over all I really recommend ATFC if you don't get raspberries!
The food is delicious and the service is very "homey" and upbeat :) for a great savory and sweet brunch, it's a good bang for your buck!!!!!
Comfy, cozy, chocolately. A Thing For Chocolate located on Wellington West is the best place to go if you love crêpes and you love chocolate for breakfast.
There was one chef and one server. Upon walking in, the chef beckoned us inside and invited us to seat ourselves. The place is the first story of a medium-sized town house and can seat 20 quite comfortably. We arrived by bike, but there is street parking around the area....

It's not just something you eat. It's a piece of art work that can not be described by words. The chef is an artist who truly understood the interaction between him and food.
Came for Sunday brunch. The wait was about half hour as it's a tiny place that seats 10-15 at capacity. Lattes are pretty standard but the crepes are the real deal. Made fresh to order. I literally saw the chef cut my strawberries and melt my chocolate. Large enough to share if you're not starving. Recommend for a nice weekend girls' brunch.

This time I went with my whole family. It was a treat. Everyone enjoyed it. My daughter did not like her desert crepe. He replaced with a custom crepe with just spinach and cheese. She enjoyed it. Great atmosphere. Recommend it highly.

Yum!. We went here for dessert on a Friday night. It's a great space to chill, with a few tables and some couches. I had the creme brulee. It was delish and bigger than I expected. My partner had the sugar and lemon crepe and it was perfectly light and tasty. Service was friendly. Will go back to try some of their other crepes. I just wish they stayed open later than 8pm.
Cute Cafe. Went with friends for dessert and we wished we hadn't already eaten dinner because the savory crepes sounded really good! we opted to share a few desserts but will be back sometime to try some of the other menu items. Everything was homemade and delicious.
Lovely food, great owner. Had the cordon bleu savoury crepe, the creme brulee, the chocolate tart, the hot chocolate and the little chocolate balls... Basically we ate a lot. Every single thing was amazing. Best crepe I've ever had. The owner, Omar has such a beautiful spirit. His attitude definitely adds to the lovely atmosphere. Spectacular Chocolate Flavours. I had the now famous hazelnut chocolate crepes that Owner Omar proudly crafts! Wow... is the only word that can describe the experience.
Omar makes the chocolate hazelnut spread himself using hazelnuts that he hand roasts. Sounds like a lot of work but I'm glad he does it. Just amazing... Nice cup of coffee too!
I can't wait to go back ... I might just have a problem. ATFC might have to open a center for customers who have become addicted to its luxurious offerings.
You need to go here! First of all, the food is fantastic and more importantly, the owner (Omar) is a caring and lovely human being.
The chocolate fondu is the perfect size with a nice variety of things to dip, and the brownies are the BEST I have ever had.
I also ordered a cheesecake (ridiculously short notice) which was so good I wanted to eat all of the leftovers in one sitting (I managed to refrain...). Omar practically bent over backwards to accommodate my needs. He is very friendly and proud of his creations.

Chocolate Americano was amazing!. I stopped by for a coffee after doing some thrift shopping, and lucky for me the World Cup happened to be playing.
I had a hard time deciding what to get since all the menu items sounded delectable, but ended up going for the Chocolate Americano coffee (It had a fancy name which I forget now).
The chocolate turned out to be real actual pieces of chocolate rather than hot chocolate powder or something gross like that. It was so rich, creamy and satisfying, probably one of the best Americano's I've had.
Will definitely be back for crepes some day!
Lovely place. Cool owner, very caring and passionate. Had three items, chocolate tart, brownies, and a hazelnut cake. Each were totally satisfying. Not too sweet. The hazelnut cake was quite amazing. Nice and quiet interior as well. Will go back to try more things.

Just had a delightful breakfast at A Thing for Chocolate after hearing and reading great things. Very reasonably priced for the quality of food, cozy atmosphere and great service from the owner Omar. Had the sweet english with custard blackberries and bananna and a hot chocolate and a brownie to go, all were delicious. My only concern is that once more people start going here there is going to be quite a wait to get a table in the quaint cafe! Thank you Omar!
Been here twice now and had consistently delicious food and great service. The cream of earl grey tea is my new favourite. Prices are all very reasonable. A great addition to the neighbourhood, I would highly recommend. Perfect spot for a date!

Delicious savoury and sweet. I can't believe no one has opened a crepe place in the neighborhood before. We used to drive to Hunt Club for this type of meal and now the best crepe place in Ottawa is around the corner.
We're a family of four and do diner here once a week. Four big savoury crepes then we split a chocolate filled dessert crepe and the bill has never been over $50, tip included.
Make sure you try the homemade Nutella, it's a specialty and a sample spoonful was offered on our first visit ... best thing I've tasted all year.
Fabulous new addition to Wellington West!. I really enjoyed my first visit to A Thing for Chocolate. The owner was very welcoming and told me it was important for him that I enjoyed my meal. The decor is warm and cozy (fireplace, big comfortable chairs) and the food was really delicious. I had a gluten free crepe with eggs and cheese and a hot chocolate. I also tried a piece of chocolate, which was delicious. The prices are very reasonable as well. Will be back for sure with friends!
The name itself did it for us, there's no way we couldn't walk in. The small chocolatier truly lives up to its name too as everything from food to decor has a chocolatey theme (we're talkin' chocolate brown leather armchairs and tables that could pass for very large chocolate bars from afar). Left to right: House Special ($7.50), Callebaut Mocha Latte ($4.50) They offer a selection of sweet and savoury crepes, café drinks, and homemade chocolates and we opt for their House Special ($7.50) and the Callebaut Mocha Latte ($4.50). The House Special has a simple formula: homemade milk or dark chocolate spread with your choice of season fruits such as bananas, strawberries, and blueberries (we go for dark chocolate with bananas and strawberries). With a homemade chocolate spread that could give Nutella cause to worry, this crepe still haunts our dreams.
Definitely a good experience, we showed up with a half hour to close and still got the full treatment. Stayed past close and was never asked to hurry or anything of the sort, they just did their thing while we finished up. Had the cheesecake crepe, not so much cheesecake, more like light cream cheese and fruit. A little deceiving but still really delicious, and light. Perfect mix of cheese to fruit to honey. The crepe itself was fresh, warm, and perfectly done. The latte was great, they use great beans. The place has a cozy feel to it. The service was quick and friendly. No issues to speak of. Why 4 stars and not 5? I just didn't get that "wow" feel, but definitely nothing negative to report. Will be back to see what the other crepes are like, as well as the other tasty goodies they had.
Food is delicious and the prices are ok. Place is nice and cozy, good music and atmosphere. The service was good but I wish they had waiters to take the order at your table instead of at the counter. The only thing I didn't like was that the only bathroom they have was out of service which is really inconvenient for a restaurant.
This place is awesome, whether you like sweet or savory, their kitchen does a hell of a job.

What a cozy little cafe! I went twice while visiting friends. The first time I had ordered the Sweet English (bananas, berries, and custard) on a buckwheat crêpe with a from-scratch dark hot chocolate - so perfect! The next day I had the smoothest coffee I had ever had paired with a spinach, mushroom, feta, and bacon crêpe - this crêperie does both sweet and savoury and perfects it. I cannot wait to visit again!
