We went for dinner on June 30th to celebrate my daughter's high school graduation and my birthday. This building is very unique and shows the charm of history. Cocktails (non-alcoholic) and desserts are great, and the combination and decoration of the dishes are full of French romance , it looks so pretty and delightful .But unfortunately the steak tartar and vegetables in flat scallops were unbelievable salty. So it definitely wasn’t a perfect experience

If you like fine dining, like having your table for the evening, and don't mind paying for it I highly recommend Beckta. Bill, our server, made the experience complete. He is knowledgeable and wasn't shy to provide recommendations when asked.
They validate parking to boot. Classy all the way!

We had a fabulous dinner at Beckta! Everything from the greeting to putting on our coats was seamless And provided an amazing experience. The hosts were extremely friendly and welcoming and seated us at a great table with view of city hall. We were warmly greeted by Justin and we decided to do the tasting menu with wine pairings. The service was impeccable and was nice to see a restaurant conducting proper table service. Justin explained every dish and every wine like he made them himself, he knew every detail and was confident on every answer to our questions. Fantastic guy and even better server. The food was also exceptional. While not every dish was our taste, the creativity and love on the plate was apparent with every dish. 3/5 courses were incredible, 1 was decent, and 1 just wasn’t a meat we care for. The chefs clearly take a lot of pride in their work and it shows!
Overall an amazing experience and we will be back.

Can't get enough Beckta. Wow. Every dish makes you say mmmmm. Each dish has balanced flavours, nothing dominates on a plate, and everything comes together fabulously. Their dishes have such great texture combinations as well. You can have such a variety of combinations of food based on what you put onto each forkful and it's all so delicious. Did their chef's tasting menu. Everything was fabulous. Salad, soft shell crab, duck, dessert. Consistent, high quality, wonderful service, and such a fantastic experience when you eat at Beckta.

Their reputation stands out. But tonight was special and beyond my expectations. A health issue has come with many dietary restraints, which makes it hard to eat out.
Our server Amanda, coordinated masterfully with the kitchen, to make sure there were options that wouldn't make me sick (ever at a table with a large group of people).
The meals are always special at Beckta, of course, the wine cellar admirable, but tonight the service pushed it over the edge. During a rough time, they made tonight very special. So grateful.
Must try! It's a majestically beautiful experience.

My fiance and I went for our anniversary dinner and needless to say, it was definitely one of the best meals we’ve ever had. We chose the tasting menu and every item was delicious. The service was beyond exceptional and they even brought us a glass of champagne at the beginning to wish us happy anniversary. Strongly recommend for a special night out.

Fantastic service and experience! The building is obviously a great part of the experience, everything is done well with modernizing and the ambience they have created using old and new. The Buttermilk Biscuits are out of this world! Roasted Laurentian Chicken and Beverly Creek Striplion were both great.

Service was amazing , no doubt about that however ; the food was just okay. Nothing extraordinary I was actually disappointed . The cheese platter was good however it was just that , cheese and some bread so presentation gets no points , beef tartar was room temperature and lacked flavour we actually couldn't eat much of it , the salad was drenched in dressing some kind of pine infused dressing it was a different taste each bite so there was no consistency in taste . For main course I got the fish with couscous was supposed to be curry infused or something but it had no flavour , at all I actually ended up shaking a ton of salt and pepper , the accompanying sauce was some type of mayo dill and it didn't compliment the fish at all I think I rather have had something more lemon based, my husband had the steak and fries and he really liked it you can't really go wrong there. The chocolate dessert was pretty good however the caramel dessert was very very dry � I wanted to love this restaurant so bad as I have heard many good things about it but sadly I will not be going back it was just OK for the price paid .

I've eaten at a lot of great restaurants, and Beckta is one of the greatest of all time for me. Their new space on Elgin is fabulous. We used to celebrate in the old prime rib place there, and so to return to that space now occupied by a world-class restaurant like Beckta is a dream! We had a FEAST (we turned the three-course into a four-course). CJ was an impeccable waiter. Not only was he friendly, but he made some really stellar wine choices for us, and I also learned a lot from him (he picked a new wine for each course). That's the thing about Beckta that I've noticed: it's not just that the food is great, or that the restaurant is beautiful, but it's that their staff is so friendly, and the service is NEVER pretentious or too-cool-for-school. Beckta (and Play for that matter) is not "formal" but CLASSY. It's not one of those awful stuffy restaurants. I felt so at-home, so comfortable, so welcomed. That sort of service is what makes this one of my favorite restaurants. I can't imagine how anyone will be disappointed here!

Excellent cocktails et très bon service. Les choux de Bruxelles étaient à se rouler par terre... Délicieux �. L'ambiance n'est pas extraordinaire mais assis au bar, c'est très bien. Le barman est fantastique et nous fait découvrir de bons drinks.

Fabulous small plates and wine! We had the caviar and blini, the burrata and sourdough crostini, the Brussels sprouts, the charcuterie and the lavender and blueberry financier for dessert. Paired with a great chianti like red and a wonderful Pearl Morissette rosé! Atmosphere and great service too!

One word..Disappointed. Recommended by many friends as a must try. Ordered from the tasting menu, staff seemed uninvolved and not very knowledgeable. Unfortunately, I don't know if I would try it again. Can't recommend this restaurant.

A surprise celebration at Beckta's for my daughter's 50th birthday turned out to be a gastronomic delight. And not only was the food by far the best I've experienced in Ottawa, but the service was excellent and the ambiance absolutely perfect. I can't think of a single thing that could have been improved.
