Review Mathildas - Oshawa

Lester Millado
My new favourite spot in Oshawa - and I'm not even Vegan! We are fairly new to the city and have been slowly finding local gems for us to eat at and we are so happy to have stumbled upon Mathilda's. We came in around 1pm on a Thursday and the place was busy. The whole team was friendly and the restaurant has great energy. We had the Sample Platter (so we could try everything!) and the Pizza Rolls cause they just looked so good. Food was delicious and packed a lot of flavour. If you didn't know any better, you'd think you were eating meat. We will definitely be back! Love to see Downtown Oshawa's resurgence!

We naturally selected this restaurant as its one of the few vegan places in Oshawa. We opted to eat in and ordered pizza rolls and a couple sundried tomato spinach cheese turnovers. My wife ordered an Indonesian dish which was good. Her dish confused my tastebuds to be honest because I'm not used to that cultures food. But it was still pretty good nonetheless. The rolls and turnover I got were fantastic. The service here is also very very tremendous. They're so nice. I just wish there were a few more options for eating in. Felt like the options were minimal. Still a great place for a quick meal in or to go. Plus there are tons of groceries in here if that's your thing. Will be back next time we're here. 4/5.

I'm still new to the vegan world and have a hard time eating out but not anymore. I got the sampler box and a few sweets and wow is all I have to say. It was so fresh and delicious even a few days later. I will definitely be back. The staff were so friendly and helpful and they had tons of variety to please any palate. Highly recommend.

Wow, what a find! If you're looking for vegan options, this place is great. We got a couple of the Currys, the chickpea cauliflower coconut and the Thai Red curry, and they absolutely delivered on big flavour and satisfying portions. We picked up take out, and I went in with 4 kids in tow. They were amazing with us, talking to the kids and helping me to pick out options for them as well. They were great about helping us navigate some pretty serious dietary restrictions, too, so this was an all around amazing experience. We're not vegan or even vegetarian, but we're definitely going to be coming back for more.

I’m so happy I found this place. The people are amazing, very friendly and helpful. Even if you’re not sure about veganism, give it a try. My family loved it too. The BBQ “unpork” satisfied our Chinese BBQ craving. Try the cheese pastry too. Yum

I am so glad I found this place on a whim today! I ordered the BBQ unpork for lunch, and honestly, it's probably the best vegan food I've had to date!!!! The BBQ unpork was cooked to perfection, and they give a generous portion that has set me up to take on the second half of the day 💪🏾. I wish I loved nearby this lovely restaurant, but next time I'm in Oshawa, I'll be making a stop to try more of the many dishes offered.

I met some of the best customer service oriented ladies today. I’ve a “newer” vegetarian and aiming for veganism. Had great food that my family enjoyed as well. I will definitely be back! A must try! Our favourite so far is the BBQ “unpork” - YUM! Satisfied our Chinese food craving for sure. Try the cheese pastry too! Omg

Wow! This store / restaurant is amazing. And, almost unbelievably, completely vegan. The first impression walking through the door is fantastic. The establiment itself is well decorated and well laid out. To the left, they have in incredible variety of difficult-to-find vegan goods such as canned jackfruit, noodles (vegan tortalini?!), jerky, marshmallows, and cheese curds. They also have a good selection of baked goods at the counter to the right that look absolutely delicious. Next to that are prepackaged (cold?) meals for takeaway and, beyond that, they have hot food to purchase for takeaway. I got the platter which included rice, yellow curry, seitan pulled pork, veggie chicken shwarma, and some sort of potato and veggie mix. I have a big appetite and managed to eat this over the course or two meals. And all for the low, low cost of $15. I was amazed. Methilda's blows most other vegan places clear out of the water with the value of each meal. I have only been there once but, believe me, I look forward to going again.
