Review Berry Hill Food Company - Oshawa

Wow, this was disappointing. This place came pretty highly recommended so we decided to try a bunch of plates and share and every single one fell flat. Very plain, basic, limited flavour to every dish and on top of that our pizza was raw. We were the only people seated in the restaurant and the restaurant was also quiet otherwise so there was full attention to making our meals, I can’t even find an excuse for it. Our server paid us very little attention even though, once again, there wasn’t anything going on. She was literally watering plants. When I notified her about the raw pizza she didn’t even apologize or offer a replacement, etc. She said “ok” and took the pizza and walked away. Only later did we see on the bill that she had taken it off, which is great but was very odd. Love to support local so it pains me that this was our experience but I can’t put this one in my roster after that.

This is hands down the best restaurant I have eaten at since being in Oshawa. Located on king street West. We had the surf n turf with garlic mashed and the arctic char with wild rice and bok Choi. Absolutely delicious! Perfectly cooked and seasoned. Marissa was the host and bartender and is very friendly and inviting. Berry bramble drink and rum punch were very tasty! Amazing place. Be sure to check this place out!

The staff were extremely accommodating and more than happy to veganize our brunch order! We loved our avo toast and shakshuka with fried tofu subbed for fried eggs. Definitely planning to come back and try the vegan options on the lunch menu!

The food was delicious but the service was a tad slow. Became better as it got less busy, but it took almost 20 minutes to bring out a coffee and then a little longer to bring out additional milk and sugar. Despite all this, we thoroughly enjoyed the food and they even brought out a birthday dessert which they didn't charge for. Will definitely go back, but just during less busy times. Oh and they should look at securing the bathroom doors better because a lock isn't helping keep it closed when occupied.

Had a great brunch here. Food was great and service was phenomenal.

I've been here a few times, food has always been good and service can best be described as relaxed. This is not a fast food restaurant and I'm happy with that. We were a party of three, we had a very enjoyable relaxed brunch with white sangria and lots of conversation. We'll be back.

Great restaurant in a downtown sorely in need of places like this. All tables were full, adding to the pleasant atmosphere. I enjoyed a thoroughly satisfying eggs Benedict, but there was some more novel fare on the menu for someone with more exotic tastes.

Amazing place.. they accommodated myself. My girlfriend and my small pup on the patio for a Sunday breakfasts.. greeted with all smiles and a warm welcome. Best part about this all is the hidden gem of a patio at the back. Rustic, charming, and secluded. A must visit

Good Food but many issues with service. We heard good things about Berry Hill and their Scones were great when we sampled them at a local event in Oshawa so we couldn't wait to try out their restaurant. On our arrival the waitress was friendly but confused as to were to sit us with a stroller, we suggested a seat that would keep it out of the way of everyone walking by and everything appeared fine as we were seated and menu's presented to us. After asking about the coffee and desert options we were told that the menu on the tables was not the right menu and she went to get another menu to give to us (Items were similar but prices were higher), we were confused as the menu on our table was the same one as on every other table in the restaurant, we selected our meal and waited for it to arrive other patrons sat down at the table beside us, were given their menu and started looking over it, their waitress came over explained that she was new and that to bare with her, they started to ask about the food options and she looked at their menu's and stated that the brunch was over and that those were the wrong menu's and she had no idea why they were given the wrong menu's, she went back and brought out the "dinner" menu and proceeded to try and explain how dinner was after 5pm and between 3pm and 5pm they could only order from certain portions of the "dinner" menu. After a half dozen or more tries of selecting an item only to be told that is a dinner item they eventually found a selection for their family. Our meal arrived at that point and the first thing I noticed was the "Fresh Fruit" that all breakfast's were supposed to come with was no more then a thimble with 3-4 slices of fruit in it, hardly enough to even cleanse one's pallet, I also felt something was missing but I couldn't put my finger to it. We ate and as stated above the food was good, cooked and seasoned well but about half way through the meal it occurred to me that my meal was supposed to come with sauteed mushrooms, I asked my wife if she remembered and she thought it did as well and went to try and find someone to ask, she came back stating it was supposed to come with mushrooms but "sorry they were forgotten" (in a dismissive tone), no offer to make them, no offer of a substitution, not even a proper apology. We finished the rest of the meal and when it came time to pay I asked the waitress what happened with the mushrooms out of curiosity thinking perhaps they ran out or something else occurred only to be told "I didn't check the plate before I took it, sorry" (Again in a dismissive tone), looking at the bill we were being charged full price despite the incomplete meal but we paid and left. It's clear there are not just issues with staff experience but with the dynamic between them as well with it seeming no one there wants to talk to each other and almost goes out of their way to avoid doing so.

Went to this place tonight, arrived at 5. Waitress was hardly around and had to go find her on occasion and the place wasn’t busy. Ordered food, waited almost an hour just to receive mediocre food that looked “pretty”. Had a waiter that took over as our waitress was gone for 30+ minutes. He was the best part of the evening. After to complaining to the owner, he offered free deserts which were the best part of the meal. After waiting 45 min for our checks, we then discovered that they automatically add 18% tip and there debit machine asks you if you want to add a tip. Feel totally screwed over by this place and have no intention of ever going back after a 4 hour ordeal.

First let me say I have supported this restaurant for over a year. I drive from North York just for their eggs benedict. This visit was my worse experience. Our server was rude. I have dietary restrictions which have never been a problem but for this server she made me feel like I was being difficult. No english muffin and fruit instead of potatoes, how difficult is that?! My order was wrong and when I pointed that out she rolled her eyes and snatched back the plate. Message to the owners, your staff is too young and their uniform of yoga pants and belly tops is turning your once classy establishment, trashy!

Oh how I missed their peppered peameal eggs Benny!!! I hadn't been to Berry Hill in awhile and everywhere that I have eaten since then NOBODY has compared to them! If you're looking for a breakfast treat I highly recommend the Banana French Toast :) it's delicious! The service today was amazing. The ladies were super friendly and the chef whipped up an awesome meal Way to go Berry Hill !

My absolute favourite restaurant. The food is unreal! Cozy warm atmosphere. Friendly staff and a fantastic wine selection. The menu items vary from classic bistro , comfort food as well as many unique fusions. Everything is real & homemade. Hats off to you Berry Hill....also I totally dig the music you play. And the patio is magical...Cheers.

Berry Hill, is small and lovely. Friendly staff. The food is outstanding. Coffee is delicious and the coconut rum banana French toast is the best thing I have ever had for breakfast. I will be back.

Really creative and delicious food and cocktail menu. I’ve come a number of times and would recommend it to anyone. Service is slow however even when there are few tables. Example...cutlery and side plates need to be asked for even after our shareable plates were dropped off at the table. We also had waited at least 20 mins for each cocktail.

Unfortunately our table of 16 landed on a night when they were short staffed in both the kitchen and the floor. Some food was served Luke warm, some food was fantastic. Overpriced for the quality and service. Even after speaking with the owner, he did not come over to apologize to the table. He should have been helping his staff on the floor. Definitely a huge disappointment considering the reviews we had read. The potential is definitely there if ownership addresses their issues..... Set proper customer expectations when short staffed as an example.

I discovered this hidden gem when I went to meet a client one day.....and proceeded to fall head over heels. Every time we are in, we are never disappointed!! The food is mouthwatering, the ambience is cozy, the air is light and welcoming and the staff is amazing. Never disappointed!!!

Service is very weak. Food was good but no place hang out winter coats without them dragging on the floor. They need more people. No one came by to ask if we wanted anything else during the meal. Probably won’t go back again.

Every time I have eaten here I have been amazed with the food. Great selection of beer too. This is a Premium establishment.
