Our first time back since Lockdowns over 2 years ago. Our main concern was that the buffet wouldn't be the same in terms of food selection and quality of experience (with prices remaining what they were) due to everything that has gone on these last years. But we were happy overall with our visit! Yes, the food selection and quality is exactly the same as we remember it with all of our favorites there. The atmosphere was upbeat and relaxed which was a relief and made the experience fun, as if life was 'back' and we could simply enjoy again. As far as restrictions go, the restaurant has no internal vaccine mandate and masks are optional. Some people choose to wear them and some didn't and there was no tension whatsoever in that regard. Everyone seemed happy to be there to take in the evening. They do however make you wear disposable gloves to get your food and have a temperature check machine at the reception where you put your wrist up to it for a second while it reads your temp. We didn't like those very much and hope they too go soon, but it didn't detract too much from our overall enjoyment. The service was excellent as usual. Thanks to manager Kim for all of her help while making a reservation and our server Betty who was pleasant and seemed happy to be with us that evening. We'll be back.

The buffet is excellent at the Mandarin in Orléans! It’s a great place to enjoy time with family and friends. Sushi is so delicious there. Very good service and friendly staff. I recommend this restaurant buffet and it’s worth the price.

Post Covid Experience: No masks required. Added step of wearing gloves each time but was totally fine. Just worry about the waste. Service was excellent. Food selection was good but could use more fresh salads. Deserts spread is best of any buffet!

Allan was a great server with a warm greeting and excellent knowledge of the restaurant. I would definitely recommend bringing the whole family or even a first date.

Food was good but they cheated us on the 6 nenamo bars promo. Our bill was over $100 with the tax, there was no reason to cut the 3 Nanaimo bars in half to say we got the 6 in their promo. That's a nickel in the photos.

We have been eating at the Mandarin in Orleans for the past 11 years. The buffet is excellent, I have yet to taste a dish that was not good. The food is always fresh, hot tasty. The restaurant itself if very clean and the staff is very polite and pleasant. Keep up the good work. Sylvie

So glad to see the buffet open and fully operational. Great selection of food for any taste. Perfect spot in Orleans for a family gathering or birthday party. There will definitely be something delicious for everyone no matter their preference. The service is great, May and Betty were fantastic. If you're looking for a night out in Orleans this is a special spot! 5/5 Stars you need to eat here!

Very nice staff, extremely great food, staff does come often, excellent desserts, a bit crowded on afternoons, but still a very good experience

I really like this restaurant from the attentive staff, to the clean Buffett area and spacious and clean dining areas. The food is really good depending on your choices. One big thing we found out tonight is they will no longer be having the crab legs and that was a big draw for us and a big part of justifying the >30$ price tag. Not sure if we will return.

Let's be honest, it's a Chinese buffet with tons and tons of choices that are always fresh and constantly replenished. Quality is there, very nice choice of desserts. The service is also good. Only minus point is that this is a very expensive place.

Great buffet selection, quality food which is not always the case in Chinese buffets. Atmosphere and service is good too. Very big lines ups for the weekend time, you should plan ahead of time.

The customer service was great! It's been about 5 years since I've had Mandarin. The last one I had was in Toronto. The food was tasty not to bad. The dessert I loved! All the options and great treats. The food was good for a buffet. It wasn't to busy, but we did go during lunch on a Tuesday so it as nice having the time to pick out what we wanted without having to wait.

I have only been to Mandarin during lunch time; maybe I will need to try it a third time for dinner instead to fully experience all they have to offer. Most of the hot lunch items are unfortunately pretty greasy BUT they do have very fresh shrimp, their sushi is pretty good for all you can eat, and their dessert selection is not only impressive but also tasty.

The front staff and waiters were also accommodating of my one year old niece's egg allergy and were honest with us when we enquired about the items that she could eat. Be warned most items do contain eggs and if you have a severe egg allergy, you will not be able to eat anything at Mandarin. However, they are understanding of any allergies and we were able to bring food from outside to feed my niece.

Staff was very nice, and gave us a quick tour before we were seated. Food was tasty, but not fantastically so, which I expect from buffet foods. There is a large selection of items, and their dessert section was quite good.

That's what I call customer service! From the time you enter the restaurant until you leave your satisfaction is the staff's main focus. It wasn't crowded today (Monday night) and the food was tasty and fresh. For an of all-you-can-eat buffet, Mandarin is pretty good.

A summary: Great variety of dishes. Excellent service. Warm hand towels before and after our meal. Place was jam-packed but still very friendly and efficient. I'll be going back.

Server's were very rude and ignorant, totally ruined the mood for our family gathering. Food was greasy and bland. Very disappointed in the service, being a buffet you really need the servers to make a good impression, and they unfortunately did not make a good one. Probably won't be booking parties here anymore.

Low quality, greasy food. In my opinion it's not worth the price. On the plus side, the deserts are good and service is great. I won't go back.

Very busy for a Monday night! Food was still very fresh and plentiful. Loved the mussels. There were lots of different chicken choices. Unfortunately the salmon was a bit too dry. Lots dessert choices as well if you have room left. My hankering for sushi and shrimp was satisfied.

Very happy with my dining experience at Mandarin buffet. Clean, bright new venue, with professional and very friendly staff.
I found the food to be quite good overall with a greater selection than most buffets, especially when it came to the desserts. Definitely more than enough options to please any hungry diner.
I also really enjoyed receive hot towels before and after the meals, it was a nice touch.
Good value buffet, will be back again.

A very impressive buffet. Large selections of different foods covering all aspects of Asian dining. Fresh sushi, dumplings and soups. The dessert bar was again an amazing selection. Food quality is about the same as you would find at a mall food court, but with the ability to help yourself endlessly it is definitely great value. Make sure you come hungry to really make use of the buffets full potential. The service was very impressive also, plates removed from tables between each plate refill and complimentary hot towels before and after dining.
A thoroughly enjoyable dining room experience.
Enjoy!
Mandarin, what a great experience. The staff were excellent such a nice dining experience. Lovely new, clean venue with a great buffet layout. Good selection of salads, soups, sushi, mains and deserts.

This place is outstanding. Being new, it is clean, bright, well organised, and very comfortable. The food selection is fantastic. As with all buffets there are strong and weak dishes. What sets thus place apart from the rest is that there are very few weak ones. I will certainly return. I hope that the quality is not simply the ploy of the new restaurant trying to make a great first impression.

Top tier buffet dining nuff said. Aside from a few items, spring rolls, fries, the food was hot, tasty, fresh, delicious, quick and plentiful (anyone can find numerous items to fit their palates). I went here with a group of 12 and was completely satisfied with the experience. Also the restaurant is extremely light. Like a beacon in the night.

AWESOME! Best buffet in Ottawa. Top quality and numerous choices to satisfy even the pickiest of eaters. Everything was fresh, at the correct temperature and buffet tables were kept very clean and tidy. Stand out items: egg rolls, hot crab legs, and creme brûlée.

Came here for dinner last night, and this place is very busy. There was a 20 minute wait for a table of 2. They had a hostess offering everyone a mint as they left, and they had a cotton candy machine running. I have been to Mandarins in other cities, as a frame of reference.

The ambiance was great, as others have mentioned. The place looks very new (in part because it is), but lovely designs on the walls and decor overall. The location I went to in London looked very dated in comparison (because it is).

The service was good. Very friendly and enthusiastic. Warm, damp towels at the start and end of the meal was a nice touch, as was lemon in the water glasses. Service was slightly better than the other locations I've been to.

For selection of food, I found they had a greater variety and more options overall, especially their dessert tables. Plenty of options, too many to list really.

In terms of quality of food, I found it actually lower than the other ones I have been to. I didn't have anything that was really outstanding or amazing, though everything was very fresh and still being refilled when we were dining around 7:30. Definitely way better than other buffets in the city, but comparing it to Mandarins in other cities, I found it a little less impressive.

For the cost, and quality of food, I probably wouldn't bother returning, or at least not specifically making a trip to Orleans again.

This place has amazing ambiance, probably one of the best in terms of buffets that I've been to. I went with some friends and we were seated in the room with the fish tank, which was admittedly beautiful and relaxing. The food here was satisfactory. I've had better and I've had worse. I found their shrimp tempura sushi to be way too chewy for my liking, but the salmon with cream cheese was very good. Their soup was a little salty for my liking, but had a nice amount of spice to it. The chicken balls here were not dry which is quite hard to achieve especially in buffet settings! The deserts here were probably the highlights. I'll know for next time to leave more room for deserts! They had creme brûlé, which left a good impression on me. The caramel was perfect. Their mini tarts were also delicious! They even serve cotton candy. It is quite expensive for its quality, but I wouldn't mind coming back with friends and family!

The interior is lovely, as were the staff, but I found there was too much pizza, french fries, Mexican food and not enough of the items I was looking for such as steamed buns, dumplings etc. Everything I did eat tasted good, but I left disappointed.

Service: You are greeted at the door by a friendly hostess and given a quick overview of the buffet. Our waiter was friendly, got us our drinks promptly, and checked up on us often but not too often. 5/5

Food: This was a bit of a disappointment. I have been to Mandarin in Toronto and had very high expectations for this location. Unfortunately most of the food items were lacking flavour. I was impressed with the cold crab legs which were not oversalted like they usually are at other buffets. The sushi is average by regular standards and above average compared to other Chinese buffet sushi. The prime roast and beef ribs were pretty good, as well as the grilled NY steak and cinnamon pineapple. A couple of the beef dishes were okay as well. Overall I would not come again especially at $35 per person for weekend dinner.

Delicious, amazing buffet. This is my favourite restaurant in the Orleans area. The staff is great and very accommodating and the food is amazing. Great quality here and no msg.. You won't find better.

Food was very good and ambiance was quite nice. However, pricing is quite steep for a self-serve buffet restaurant. Other similar buffet style restaurants in Ottawa i.e.; Eclipse offer a much cheaper alternative. I rated 3.5 because of pricing only.

This buffet was excellent. There is a wide variety of food and desserts ranging from chicken balls to sushi. The dessert bar is amazing, there is a make your own sundae bar and a cotton candy machine for children, and adults. Will definitely go again. Expensive, but worth the money.
