Only issue was the online order system. We ordered about a week in advance for the Thanksgiving weekend. They gave a 1 hour window and ours was 5-6 on a Sunday...they close at 5. We didn't know until 4 and we live an hour away. When I got through on the phone I was told, jokingly, I better leave now. On the way in my wife called repeatedly trying to get someone to wait until I got there...not a single extension went through and no answer for 35 attempts (no exaggeration) When she finally got an answer the response was we should have known that they close at 5 on Sunday and to get here before that. Every attempt to explain their system is faulty went no where and all she wanted was someone to wait in case I didn't make it. Worse was that the order was hand written and whom ever wrote it should have caught the error and contacted us to make an earlier pickup time When I arrived my wife had just gotten off the phone...that alone should give an idea of how long it took to get through and how hurried I drove. I was assured they had many cakes and that I should not have worried about rushing to get one. That wasn't the point. I ordered a anniversary cake in advance with writing for a dinner on a long weekend, so if I didn't get it Sunday I would have nothing until Tuesday...too late The cake was great but was soured by the poor online interface and very lacking communication of the bakery. Definitely order from them but make sure you confirm times and dates

This place is absolutely unreal, A little place of heaven, at least for people like us, that love food and people that understand what it is to make homemade food. I had the great opportunity to actually meet the owner, amazing guy and such a humble guy & all the staff, are lovely and kind. I wish you nothing but success. PS: you can smell the amazing bakery from blocks down the street away.🤤😁10/10🤩

Lots of good food here. The bakery is great. The macarons, cookies, donuts and bread were all fantastic. The prices are pretty average. I expected it to be expensive. It was very busy during lunch time, but they had every checkout open and lots of help at all the counters. I'll be back for sure.

The BEST bakery in all the GTA! Absolutely delicious, fresh, and reasonably priced! They have an excellent variety of imported European goods - dry foods, cheeses, deli and meats. Their baked goods a d pastries are amazing and very reasonably priced. They have an awesome hot table with delicious Italian and Canadian dishes. Definitely a must try and worth a trip, I make it down for dt toronto at least 1-2 times a month!

I ordered a birthday cake from here with fresh fruits and it was delicious. They have a wide selection of freshly baked goodies. Initially thought it was just a bakery but surprisingly they are a mini grocery store as well (produce, deli, fresh food, diary). Def looking forward to visiting this busy place again and try more items soon.

Delicious bread and baked treats. Pretty good price as well, I just wish everything was labeled, but we did come home with some tasty mystery treats.

Was recommended this place by some friends in the area shortly after we moved here. Safe to say we regularly visit now, at least twice a week! Freshly baked croissants from here are to die for, and they have an extensive range of fresh produce from cakes and sweets to an array of meats and breads.

FOOD:
I had come here on a busy Saturday morning at around 10:30 am. I had never been here, and had heard a lot of great things about this place therefore, I had wanted to give it a try. Since it wasn't close to lunch yet, I thought I would get a pastry to satisfy my sweet tooth. Therefore, I had settled on a Sicilian Cannoli (Large), which was $2.50 (I had purchased two; one for myself, and one to bring home to my husband). I liked how delicious they looked, and was impressed at the beautiful box that it came-in. After I had purchased my dessert, I decided to look around the shop, at which point, I loved what I saw.

They had a hot table, with many lunch items such as pasta, chicken, veal, and other Italian specialities. They also had a coffee bar, with very affordable espressos, and a whole area dedicated to bread, with people lining up to have their bread personally-sliced by two of the store's workers. I loved the freshly-squeezed orange juice, which was completed by a worker right in front of the baked goods section. There was also a deli, which had a worker sampling some cold cuts, and the dessert station was quite large, with a large array of pastries, cookies, and cakes for all occasions. There was also a multitude of Italian products directly from Italy, which spiked my interest as some of the products I was unable to find elsewhere.

When I had come home to try the cannoli, I was actually a tad disappointed as the shell was soft. I have had many cannolis in my life, and I have had some that had very soft shells. I was hoping that this would have a hard shell however, it was not to be. The ricotta filling on the inside was very delicious though, and I loved eating it, it was good to the last lick! Overall, I really did enjoy the food offerings at this establishment however, would have loved if the shell on the cannoli was crunchy as opposed to soft.

ATMOSPHERE:
Since it was a Saturday morning, I knew that I would be walking into a very busy place. Upon entering, I had to get a buggy as I had my toddler with me so, navigating that buggy was a bit challenging as there were a ton of people. However, I did notice that the ordering system at the various departments was very organized, with customers taking numbers, and being called quickly.

I noticed there was an older women that worked there, calling out for freshly-cooked ribs, telling us how delicious they were, and urging us to purchase them. It was very noisy though, and the parking was difficult as there were people coming in and out of the shop. When I had paid for my items, the cash register was fast, and I enjoyed that as I found they were effective in helping customers to minimize their wait-time in line.

SERVICE:
When I had walked-up to the dessert counter, I was served by a kind younger woman, who took my order quickly, then placed it in a box with ease. She was easygoing, and even smiled at my toddler who was trying to climb out of the buggy. I also had the same experience at the cash register, when I had paid for my items, and was greeted by a friendly face at the register, who asked me if I had found everything I was looking for. I have to commend this shop for their wonderful customer service, which made me feel comfortable.

COST:
2 Sicilian Cannolis - $2.50 Each x 2: $5.00 + Tax = $5.65

WOULD YOU RETURN?
Although I had hoped that the shell on the cannoli were crunchier, I did love the ricotta filling, and also the various products that this shop offered. I would definitely return and purchase something from their hot table or deli in the future!

One of the best bakeries I've been to during my Toronto trip. I'm looking forward to going back in a few months!!! Craving is the better word!!!

Great little grocery that also acts as a bakery and deli. Despite it being on the smaller end of grocery stores, everything is well stocked and organized in such a way that makes it easy to get your shopping done.

The bakery offers up a wide variety of baked goods and sweets. There is also a freshly baked goods section in the back where you can get a wide variety of baked carbs like pies, bagels, breads, etc. The section is rather large and the choices seemed plentiful.

They also have a deli section that offers quite a large amount of deli meats and cheeses. The cafeteria section on the far left offers hot foods that center around European and Italian foods. They have hot sandwiches as well including veal, chicken, meatball, and other specialties. They also have rotisserie and fried chicken as well.

The place seems to be on the pricier end, similar to that of a Whole Foods mart, but not as large. The service here is quick and super friendly, so it really makes for a great shopping experience. Really wish this place was closer to the East end of Toronto as it would be a welcome addition.

Amazing selection. Their pastry counter is just ok . A bit pricey.
Bread/desserts section is plenty! Spanakopita are out of this world.
They sell sfogliatelle.

Meats-- pricey

Hot table-- their pride and joy

I saw one of the bossss yell at a worker because she didn't put the sign up right. I understand they are a busy place but those workers work their butts off!!

Disappointed. I pre-ordered 4 quiches two weeks in advance of a baby shower I was hosting. The bakery saleslady who took my order went into the back room to ensure that there would be no difficulty in meeting the order. The Friday afternoon before the Shower - on Sunday, someone called from the bakery and left a message on my phone that they would not be able to fill my order. The reason sited was that they were missing an ingredient so they could not produce the quiches. I personally know of no ingredient that could possibly be unavailable for the making of a quiche. I therefore spent the next day purchasing and chopping etc. to prepare my own quiches and spent Sunday baking quiches rather than enjoying the Shower. I found their behavior to be exceptionally unprofessional and definitely not business-like. I certainly will not be ordering anything from this particular bakery in the future.

Problem with a cake order. We placed an order for a birthday cake. Both the cake and icing were stale. Won't be ordering any more cakes.

Uncaring Staff. Went in to get a latte before 11 for their special price. Waited while others they obviously knew got served before me even though I was ahead. Finally at a minute or two after 11 I was acknowledged but then told I was too late for the special and she was rude! Will never return.

Really good bakery. With finds like these I wished there was a "love it" button. Great quality of baked goods, love their pizza dough and their home made pasta sauce. I love!

Great stuff. I've been coming here since I went to high school. We would always stop by for lunch whenever we got the opportunity and they never disappointed. Went back a couple of weeks ago (first time after the reno's) and was happy to see them doing well.

Great place. Great deli selection, breads and pastries

First Timer. Went there for the first time, two weeks ago. Bought a variety of pastries to try. The cannoli were great, tarts were so so,(i think they were stale) and the french macaroons very disappointing. Staff very helpful and friendly. Would go back, but not for the pastries.

An Oakville Gem. So happy to recommend Monastery. I can hardly wait until they add seating so we can enjoy more lunches there. It's like an oasis among the chain bakeries. Great food, gourmet calibre food shopping from cheeses, meats, bakery items, hot tasty meals. You wont be dissappointed.

UPDATE: They added seating and what a fabulous place to grab a bite and a cappuccino. Nice to have a bit of Italy in the hood:) Thanks!!

Unreal. Great food, decent prices, great customer service, though the owners are tired and angry most of the time, it's an amazing place to go

Will never go back.. The pastries were very mediocre...close to grocery store standards... way to sugary and puff pastries were dry, not up to bakery standards. They should not be selling anything beyond pasta and bread in my opinion. I am extremely supprised people are giving this place so many praises.

Incredible find. This place is always jammed with shoppers. Freshly baked quality breads, pastries, cakes and a great selection of deli meats and cheeses. Best of all, free Reunion Island coffee for shoppers!!
Stinand
Great baked goods. Owner is a very miserable man not big on customer service

This business has the right concept. Great food at good prices. The breads are top notch, the deserts are to die for and are well priced and the deli is fully stocked.
