Review Eighties Restaurant - North Vancouver

Saturday brunch - 11:30am very busy but got in within 15 mins. Waited 15 minutes to place our coffee and food order. Food arrived 15 minute later, hot - flavourful and massive portions. Nice server. Reasonable prices. Average ambiance.

The 80s was recently purchased by the Smoke & Bones folks. Still looks the same, some of the same staff, some of the same menu items but a different looking menu. Loved that you could customize your omelette fillings (not possible in the past without upcharge) though I did miss cheese as a basic filling. The 80s Special Scramble, however, had the addition of hashbrowns but noticeably fewer eggs on top and was disappointing. We'll keep coming back to try our favs!

First of all going to say, love how the staff members are actively making sure everyone is vaccinated and following proper covid policies. Location + staff: 10/10 The staff are insanely friendly, and always doing their best to provide the best experience for us. There are various choices, I had gotten the tuna melt. The price was reasonable and the taste was delightful. I'd definitely recommend going to 80s for brunch. The only thing negative is their milkshake amount, their glass makes it look a lot bit it's actually a very small amount which was disappointing for the price.

Well it’s a very sad time for the North Shore. After a very miserable brunch experience I have discovered that Eighties has changed ownership, and with them everything that made this place special has gone. The menu has been changed, although most original options are still there, they have been renamed and no longer taste the same with a slightly higher price tag (the least of my worries). I have no issue paying for good food, but what I was served today was but a shell of what Eighties used to be. The breakfast burrito literally comes with 0 sides - just a burrito on a large empty plate? Was not very good. The classic breakfast is completely different as well (which lets be honest is what they are known for!!) the eggs weren’t cooked properly and the potato’s are watery, soggy & flavourless. Toast wasn’t toast - was just soggy bread. Service was also struggling today. Took over 30 minutes to receive our food, water never came, tea didn’t come with milk despite ordering it and upon asking for our bill it never came - we had to go up to the bar to pay otherwise we would have been late for our appointment. The table beside us seemed to be having a similar experience as we overheard them complaint about their food and service too. Don’t get me wrong, Eighties was NEVER anything fancy or worth an overtly rave review, but it was consistent, homey, cheap & GOOD! I didn’t experience any of those things on my visit today, and I can assure you I will not be back.

Came here with my husband and baby today. We ordered the breakfast burrito and the Mexican hash dish. For the price, honestly you can't beat it. It's crazy inexpensive here for giant portions. The food comes out fresh and hot. My only concern would probably be that all the food was very bland. There's no seasoning at all, i added salt pepper and hot sauce and ketchup to most of the food. I guess it is healthier knowing it isn't indulged in salt etc but I wish they flavored the potato's and food a bit more. All in all, great experience. The servers were really friendly and helpful. This is a great place for families and elderly people who are trying to watch their salt intake I think 🤣 Atmosphere is your usual old school diner kind of situation. Friendly. Folksy. It gets busy around 10-11 ish.

Went with a bunch of friends on a week night. It's a fun little diner. We had a good time. Burgers and milkshakes were delicious!

The new owners have done a fine job of carrying on what has made the 80s a North Shore favourite for so many years. Breakfast was as good as ever (perhaps even better?), and a number of the old staff remains. My wife ordered her usual heavily customized omelette, while I ordered the classic Breakfast Special B. I can report the pancakes are as good as ever, and if the omelette tasted better, it was because the kitchen uses fresh eggs daily, said our server. Sometimes, a good thing can become even better.
