Review Tomahawk Barbeque - North Vancouver

Edgar
The restaurant definitely has some character of its own; so, we can see why it attracts visitors and why it has become a landmark but, we didn’t find the food to be as memorable. We went there for lunch and, even though the menu has many options, it was hard to find anything interesting that wasn’t breakfast oriented, similar burgers/sandwiches or basic diner food. For example, the burger descriptions were almost the same, except for an ingredient (absent or present). Anyways, that wouldn’t have been an issue except for the fact that, even though the food was good, it didn’t really exceed any expectations. We had the STEAK AND MUSHROOM PIE, which was the most successful; the CHIEF DOMINIC CHARLIE BURGER, which was OK; and, a LEMON MERINGUE PIE that looked better than it tasted. The service was friendly.

A great spot for brunch, especially if you're visiting, or new to Vancouver. The Tomahawk has a large selection to suit everyone's tastes, the prices are fair, and they use high quality ingredients (the hashbrowns are super crunchy). From Benny's to big brunch platters, they have it all. If you're going with more than 2 people, make sure you get there early because the line can get pretty long. Can't wait to come back again!

They were extremely kind to accommodate our car club of 9 guys. Food was delicious and portions were huge. Had a nice chat with the owner and you can tell he really is passionate about the business. Would absolutely return here, and recommend this place to all my friends.

Interesting decorations, looks like a souvenir shop at the entrance. I found the food was too salty but the fries were great. We were the only guests there in the late evening but I heard this place is very busy in the morning. The waitress was bit in rush when she asked if we’re ready to order when we first sat down and then come back to ask again within a minute. Turned out it was because it was near closing time. She was still nice though.

It was just ok. Very expensive for breakfast, serving size is small for the price. Coffee at $4.00 a cup is outrageous, the coffee is very strong bordering on bitter. Eggs Benny needs work, the egg whites still had the "snot" uncooked portions and that's not appealing. Hollindaise sauce was sweet! I added salt to try and balance it, the sauce was also thin. The hashbrowns served with breakfast, over fried and greasy. Fruit slices on the edge of the plate really is not necessary. Pancakes looked amazing and tasted wonderful. I recommend ordering pancakes if you go for breakfast. Overall disappointed in the food but it seems very popular, maybe due to the show triple D on the food network. Decore, interesting. Tables far too close together and too many of them. The people next to you might as well be at your table. For breakfast, it's a skip.

A very nice and comfy place with delicious sandwiches. The gravy was perfect and the apple pie was fresh.

Nice little restaurant in a not so busy area, the staff were nice and friendly. I ordered the Skookum Chief burger w/sauteed mushrooms, it was so delicious especially with Charles hot sauce.

Fast and friendly service. The food was delicious. I had poached eggs, toast and hashbrowns.

Wow....has this place ever gone downhill! Went there yesterday for the first time in years. Service was awful. Burgers are half the size they used to be, and I think even McDonalds could serve better fries now. I would say you could get a way better burger at Triple O's now. Too bad....this place used to be an awesome place to eat.

been going to tomahawk for many years now! the only bad thing is that they discontinue breakfast:bacon, hash, toast and fried oysters! the best dish ever:( but besides that the breakfast is great because the bacon is so so so GooD!!!!

My father was kicked out of the establishment for not ordering food as he had already eaten. They wanted to charge a $5 seating fee when he already ordered $7 worth in drinks. Overall this place has good food (great bacon) but the service is terrible and the owner is greedy pig. Don't go here, just avoid this awful place.

Heard lots of great things about it and perhaps we just came on an off night but the food was mediocre, the service was half full and the order took 50 minutes then get to us (the place was empty and part of my daughters meal came late and my order was screwed up) wasnt the worst I've had but wouldn't recommend to anyone

Awesome service and friendly staff. Their food selections are very unique which are also tasty. I've been going there for years. First timers must try the "Yukon Breakfast". The back bacon is really good.

FB just asked me to write a review so I thought I would take the opportunity. Keep in mind this was 9 months ago so pricing mighr be off a little. We came back to the Tomahawk after many years as we now live out of town. We were very disappointed that they enforce a $10 minimum per person just to sit at a table. On the day we went my wife and son were both under the weather and did not have big appetites. The plan was for them to share a meal but we were told about the $10 miin policy so we ordered a $7 kids hotdog and a $13 meal for my wife. Both meals were half eaten and sent to the garbage bin. Over all the service was ok and the food use to be better. When we asked about the policy again when leaving we got a bigger explanation. We have the policy as we are very busy with lineups. As I looked around the room on a Sunday afternoon I counted 4 empty tables and no one in a line? Will we return? Probably not. Should you go? Up to you. It's unfortunate that you can be going to a place since 1976 and have one bad experience and it can ruin a life time of memories.

This my first time there. The food was delicious. I would go back there again. The staff were awesome too. Very busy place.

No customer service what so ever. Both waitresses were rude and acted so cheap by telling foods can't be shared or we'll charge you extra! We were a party of 10,some of us were late getting there by 5-10 mins, then 1 of the waitresses came over and said I have to put the tables back in their spot and can't keep them for you!! Anyway I think that's how arrogant you get when you were on food network!

Outstanding burgers. Worth the drive from Abbotsford just to have one. It is not a "fast food" place. The Totem says it all! Decor is unique.... the staff is warm and friendly... A must stop for tourists.
