Review Anatoli Souvlaki - North Vancouver

Delicious food, good atmosphere and super busy. Patio space was very nice, and waiters are prompt and polite. I enjoyed the music and the live dancer. Lots of options for the menu, and it's all surprisingly filling. The four dishes we had were enough to fill 3 people, maybe 4 if you don't have a big stomach. The in house mixed drinks are very good, and tasty. I suggest the watermelon mint soda. I want to thank our waiter for being so patient and understanding, and so welcoming during our quick stay. Would live to visit again and have setting different from the menu. Cheers!

Family business with delicious Greek food. Their hummus had just the right consistency. Their meat were well-seasoned and juicy, the veggies were flavored really well. I recommend their grilled octopus appetizer, it was served with generous portions with nicely crisped potatoes. One of the best Greek food in Vancouver!

Very nice service, but food of medium quality. Food inspired by Greek cuisine, however, a bit too much fast-food influence. Calamari too oily, which made me feel a bit unwell afterwards, and musaka too salty! There are way better Greek restaurants in the neighbourhood.

Tasty Greek food! I loved the sangria which was $7 special price for Friday, the souvlaki was delicious but I particularly found it expensive plus the option of $5 to change potatoes and rice for extra salad. The service took long time to take our order which is why I do not score like 5 but I highly recommend it, food is really good! Real gem for Mediterranean food in North Van.

Great food, beautiful venue. I've sat inside and outside and I've been happy in both. I've been impressed with snack visits and full meal dinner adventures (this visit was lunch, outside) - I do recommend this place to people who are heading down Lonsdale.

A lovely place by the Lonsdale Quay, it is. Put in some helpful staff makes food selection a breeze. Outside patio is friendly. Inside great decor and good open space awaits. Come for a good Greek time, with empty stomachs 👌🏼

Amazing food and good service! We had the Greek salad, the souvlaki platter and the spanakopita.

Thank you for letting me have my "Last Supper" within your establishment. Of the many times I have been here we have somehow gotten the exact same table everytime.... The Food, Service and Atmosphere is 100% Amazing. Thank you for your services and wonderful Food. Freedom is essential as much as your beautiful establishment. Once again thank you.

Went here after reading reviews and needed a place to get some really fresh food. Have to say the service from Spiery was absolutely first rate, very knowledgeable about the food and wine choices as well as a very great source of knowledge on Vancouver. Meals were a generous size. I recommend the Country Lamb and my wife loved the lamb souvlakia. Awesome place to finish your visit to Vancouver

Delicious Greek food in the cute Lonsdale area. Go for a stroll before or after, so beautiful. The restaurant interior is very cozy. We had the dolmades, orzo and country style lamb. All were delicious and the portions were perfect. I deducted a star because the service could've been better. our waiter wasn't as friendly, rather quiet for a server and have to constantly ask for our water to be refilled.

Great location for those living in the neighbourhood! Definitely enjoyed their ambience! The calamari and lamb dishes were delicious, although they were a bit pricey. Overall, it was a great experience.

Pretty good food. Calamari was great and the potatoes were quite tasty. I don't remember anything special about coming here except it was for my dad's birthday. Service was good and somewhat reasonably priced. Would come again to try something else on the menu.

Absolutely disgusting service. Booked a table for 7 for our friends 29th birthday, his wallet was recently stolen but everyone at our table was in their late 20's/early 30's. Manager was belligerent and yelled at our table for trying to reason with her by providing paper copies of both a health card, drivers license and 5 credit cards in his name.

After yelling at our table for even attempting to explain the situation, the manager further soiled our experience by shrugging off our concerns and essentially saying they don't need our business.

To add insult to injury, the server cheekily stated with a juvenile grin "happy birthday" to our friend as he picked up his birthday cards and we left.

We went across the street to a place we often frequent and received no troubles after our server recognized our group.

Terrible service, no effort to retain or satisfy customers willing to pay for overpriced food and they lost out on a $600 table we ended up spending that evening on food/drink elsewhere.

Will definitely NOT recommend or return 👎

My friend and I started one of our date days with a trail walk at Lynn Canyon in North Vancouver. We were hungry for a filling lunch afterwards and decided on Anatoli Souvlaki in Lower Lonsdale. It was a beautiful day so we sat on the patio. I really liked the atmosphere at Anatoli’s. The restaurant is very open. The kitchen is very airy and opens to the street.

I love the huge room with tasteful decor, fresh calamari and well prepared foods but best of all they are very friendly here. I recommend their saganaki (fried cheese) roast country lamb and calamari all fresh and tasty. Can't wait to return to try their souvlaki 😀

Nice atmosphere, very nice welcoming staff. We only went in for appies and drinks, but it was great. Quiet back patio is a hidden gem. Forget about hour long lineups across the street, and enjoy a local favourite.

Great lamb souvlaki! Live Greek music. We have been to this restaurant ten years ago, the restaurant has changed for better, decor is bright and more upbeat. Ownership has changed from parents to two sons. The food is still very good!

Do you want to get screwed? !. I am just leaving this restaurant after finding a screw in my food. The serving staff were all too casual about how they responded to the situation and barely provided a discount on my food. They did offer free dessert - funny how I was no longer interested in eating here anymore
Thanks for nothing!!

Perfect Greek Night. The best Greek place I have ever been to in Vancouver.

We ordered calamari and dip tasters for appetizers. Calamari was sooo good!! It was simply cooked item but ingredients were so fresh and just perfectly seasoned.
For entree I ordered the roasted chicken and my husband ordered roasted lamb shoulder.
The chicken was to die for, so moist and flavorful, lamb was perfectly cooked medium rare and fantastic portion.

The best highlight for the night was our server!
He was so friendly and keen for what we need. We had a fantastic night!!

NOTHING TO SAY NEGATIVE ABOUT THIS PLACE.

We will go back here again 100%!!!!

I love the food here! I've been to this restaurant 10 times in the last 2 yrs, always great service, good atmosphere & the food is soooo tasty !! The platters are amazing, portion sizes are generous, everything from the hummus, lamb, to the spanakopita tastes like it was made with love!!! Excellent!!

Great place for a casual meal. Went there for dinner after a day of shopping. There were three of us, my husband, myself and our adult son. The appetizers were great - calamari was tender, and the shrimp were in a fantastic sauce. The main course, rack of lamb for two and pork souvlaki were fantastic. Chocolate cheesecake and an apricot mousse were the perfect ending to a great meal. Food was great, portions were just right, and no small screaming kids. We will be back without question.

Tasty Lunch. We had a late lunch today, and decided on Anatoli. I use to go here all the time in the 80's!! We both had the lunch special which was pork Slovaki
It came with greek salad, greek potatoes and rice. The pork had a nice char on it, I love their pitas, it was great. The service was also friendly and helpful,
Glad we went and we will go back.

Sit-down style souvlaki. In Australia, souvlaki was ubiquitous, but Down Under a "souva" was usually a "sanger" (sandwich) of spit-roasted meat and veg that you'd eat out of hand, especially late at night when you were drunk. It's what's called "donair" in Canada. Anatoli's Souvlaki isn't like that. It's the kind of meal you sit down to eat, not snarf as you stagger down the street. They put it on a plate, with accompaniments. It might shock most Australians.

But not Greeks. Anatoli's Souvlaki is good-quality, but not outstanding food, probably like what you'd find in the real Anatolia. Their menu touts the pork souvlaki, so I had that instead of the typical lamb or chicken. I was bummed when I saw the meat portion was only two skewers of pork chunks. But they were thick nuggets, a loin cut? The meat was not too fatty, excellently grilled but not charred, minimal seasoning so I tasted pork, not rosemary, garlic or some other seasoning. The grilled potato wedges also had crispy browning from the hot surface they were cooked on, but they weren't dry. I've had a lot of dried-out, chewy Greek potatoes elsewhere. The rice grains weren't clumpy in the mildly-flavoured pilaf, and the Greek salad had fresh tomatoes, capsicum and cukes. For $19, I thought it was a few dollars overpriced, but the ingredients were decent and filled my stomach.

I like the look of Anatoli's, too. Lots of wood in the table settings and exposed ceiling beams, enough Greek kitsch decorating the walls to remind you what ethnicity's cuisine you're eating but not so over-the-top that it's cliched. I've eaten at a few fancier Greek places, but at many more that were lower-class than Anatoli's. I can see why it's a North Van institution.

Food was sooo good.. We had the sample platter and it was enough for 4 people, the service was really great too. Our waiter was so friendly and so informative on what the best dishes were. We went in for wine and appies and he was so acknowledgeable on the food and wine. I would definitely come back for lunch and dinner!! GREAT work!!!!

Boring. Slow, no fun, regular food, out of the way for us and we were bored out of our minds (just) eating here. No waitress, just a male server.

Great Service, Food, Atmosphere!. I love this restaurant. Like I said...Great service, food, and atmosphere. The owner is such a nice guy too. If you like Greek food, check it out!

Great Food! Amazing Service!. I have been for both lunch and dinner at Anatoli's. The food is always delicious, the room is warm and inviting, and the service is attentive, friendly and knowledgable.

One time in specific we were served by the owner, Alexi. He treated as if we were guests in his house and walked us through several courses explaining the many wonderful greek dishes. It definitely will always be one of my favourite dining memories!

Kumiko Umeno

Great service and wonderful food. It is a little pricey but authentic and done right. Would not hesitate to recommend.

Dissapointing. A co-worker and I decided to go to Anatoli Souvlaki on our business trip. We were very dissapointed with our meals. We found them to be significantly over priced for what you recieved. When we asked for the pita bread that was supposed to come with our meal, we got a strange look from the server and had to wait 10 minutes. My greek potato was a plain roasted potato that my steak knife couldn't cut through. When I was brought a replacement it was cold from the cooler.
The Lamb was excellent, however, as well as the houmous.
If you are looking for a mediocre greek restaurant this is the one for you. I don't think I have unusually high standards but I guess when you travel and eat out on business you have a lot to compare with.

Delicious but Expensive. The spanakopita is among the best I have ever had! The souvlaki and sangria are also delicious! The staff is super friendly and attentive. Only downside is the high price and smaller portion sizes.

Such a amazing greek restaurant!! The food is delicous, with large portions. The chicken souvlaki dinner is great. The service is really friendly and genuine. The atmosphere is relaxing with the hustle and bustle of a great restaurant. However, it is a bit overpriced, but if you can get past that your in for a real treat!

No consistency and overpriced!!. I have been going to Anatoli's for the past 10 years for lunch. The food there is always delicious. However, the prices are getting higher and higher, but the dishes are getting smaller and smaller.

I use to get a lot of rice and a potatoe with my souvlaki. This meal use to fill me up. Now....there's no potatoe and a handful of rice. I pay for $13 lunch with one skewer of meat, a small salad, four little wedges of pita bread and barely a handful of rice.

Good Greek in North Van!. We really enjoyed our meal at Anatoli! Spanokopita was properly seasoned and really quite tasty. Pork Soulvaki meal was delightful and generous. Great service and a super friendly atmosphere!

Stopped by for a small lunch and ended up paying about $60 for a lumch for 2. Great space but all of the food was mediocre and was about double the price that it should have been

Veg Moussaka. The best Vegetarian Moussaka!!!
Picky Diner
The tasting plate at Anatoli Souvlaki was nice. Grilled Haloumi Caprese was winner for me: grilled tomato topped with minty cheese and packed of tons of flavours. Avgolemono soup was a chicken rice soup with egg and lemon, with a very strong presence of lemon. There were also a couple greek classics: spanakopita and pita with humus. I appreciate the fact that they represented themselves with traditional and humble greek flavours. I also got impressed when I was at the lineup waiting for our table. I saw some gorgeous dish after dish of lamb, chicken, and different types of souvlaki coming out the open kitchen. I could see how passionate the staff were about their restaurant and the food they serve. I definitely want to come back here.

Antanoli Souvlaki were dishing up 5hr Braised country lamb, and a single prawn in tomato feta ouzo sauce. On the side was a vegetarian spanakopita wrapped in phyllo pastry and taramasalata, which is a kind of Greek caviar.

'Table for one please' started my conversation with Anatoli Souvlaki. A sigh of relief when I did not find myself seated on this chair. In fact, the staff was very welcoming and accommodating, left me in peace as I worked on my laptop and served me good food. Order criteria revolved around no garlic (had a meeting after), low carb (did not want to fall asleep), on the healthy side (on a diet) yet filling enough. The final lunch comprised of feta and olives and dolmathes. I was happily satisfied with all. Anatoli Souvlaki 5 Londsdale Avenue North Vancouver, BC anatolisouvlaki.com

Anatoli Souvlaki was one of my favourites that night. The Avogolemono Soup was chicken rice soup with egg and lemon – serious emphasis on the lemon. The Grilled Haloumi Caprese was fresh and mildly salty.

The Spanakopita was flavour central of the plate. It was made with spinach, feta and fresh herbs, wrapping in a crispy and flaky filo dough.

The Houmous was surprisingly good! At other places, it usually tastes like blended bland chickpeas. In stark contrast, Anatoli’s was very aromatic and flavourful, with a spotlight on the tahini.

Anatoli Souvlaki served us Braised Country Lamb, Prawns in Tomato Feta Ouzo Sauce, Spanakopita & Pita w/ Taramosalata.

It felt like there was a sincere desire for you to have a good experience, which helped to make up for some of the unfortunate shortfalls in the restaurant:
West Coast Tastebuds
Anyway, my soup may have been terrible, the feta disappointing, but the souvlaki is pretty great. Everything is still overpriced (especially the dips!), and the service seems to have the tendency to be either really great or really rude, but the overall experience is still enjoyable.
