Review Fifty's Diner - North Bay

The server here was quite out of the ordinary in terms of not only the service but his niceness. Really special place!

Coming from Toronto, these guys have the best customer service for me. The food is solid and atmosphere is amazing. Everywhere has good customer but when I told the story that I was from Toronto, he came out running to give me water for the trip. It was that good I made my first review.

This is a great local family-run diner. Widely known for their breakfast and un-matched customer service. Their prices are simply unmatched for the value you receive. They have some home-made inventions you need to be sure to try. This will become your favourite local restaurant if it isn't already!

Just order chicken finger and fries for over $15 chicken fingers were in a soggy fish batter not very many fries. Not happy won't be ordering again

The server was attentive and very friendly. The food was really good with very large portions. Totally recommend this restaurant

I really enjoy their burgers/fries/gravy and the customer service is unmatched. I've only ever been served by Mitchell and this gentleman is top notch across the board: efficient, friendly and keeps the gears moving smoothly. Compliments to the cooks in the back for making an excellent meal. Like Arnold said: I'll be baaak!

I have frequented this restaurant about 8 times over the years. Recently went to breakfast. Two eggs, taters and bacon coffee. Their prices (menu on lone not up to date,) are higher than many breakfast joints. Service is good. Potatoes dry from being cooked and held for too long or cooked the day before. Mine were cold. Quality of lunches has suffered as well. I get that inflation causes price increases, but Ivan's and Burger world better. Colonal Hoagies is opening back up soon.

One of the best places to eat in The Bay. Staff is always amazingly friendly and helpful. Food is great and all at a reasonable price. Seriously, take the time to stop here, you won't be sorry.

The menu is really good, with the food being amazing, I didn't find one thing on the menu that I didn't like. The restaurant is in a great location. The waitresses are awesome, very friendly and knowledgable about anything on the menu. The 50's Dinner is my favourite place to relax to an excellent meal.

The food and service is excellent. The atmosphere is so welcoming, and you just can't stop looking at all the pictures of the big stars from the 50's and going back in time. The portions are great and the prices are even better. We will definitely be making 50's diner one of our top five favourite places to eat.

All home made meals that will not leave you hungry. Large portion sizes and the staff are very quick and polite. You won't get this experience or quality at any of the chain restaurants!

Outstanding! Great food. A minor error by the chef is complimented with an apology (more chefs should be that awesome!). Very very good!

I eat the chicken pasta Parma with mushroom soup. Everything I have had here is amazing also the breakfast is amazing

Absolutely AMAZING! I can't decide what I like better: the food, or the people who serve the food! Either way; the food, and the service are absolutely amazing; never have I encountered that anywhere else as consistently as here! LOVE THE 50's DINER!

Excellent dinner at Fifty's diner. Both the Texas chicken and the breakfast in a blanket were very good. But the dinner was made more enjoyable by Norma AKA Olga the waitress! Would recommend this establishment. My husband Tim likes it because he's Olga's favourite.

We went there for Father's Day for our first time and the food was delicious. Our waitress was very friendly and what I thought was amazing is that even the cook came out to make sure all the food tasted great. I would definitely recommend this place to my family and friends. Great work everyone!!!!

Great food and great service all at great prices.

Potatoes - fries - were horrible. Meat was too spiced that it overtook the Hamburg taste. The only good part was the vegetables. I'll stick to breakfast from now on. Thanks for the discount. Good thing I was hungry or I'd have sent it all back. Usually this place has great food!

This is classic diner style food with quick, friendly service.  The home fries and sweet potato fries were good.  The eggs benedict with peameal bacon was good.  The chicken souvlaki was also good.

Twice now egg was gooey and runny and never came ask if i wanted more coffee no more breakfast there for me .. But had lunch it was good ....

Home style diner. Good food, friendly waitresses, quick service. I've been here for every meal. <br/>For breakfast, the Mexican omelet is my favorites. the regular bacon and eggs is great too. The kids love the pancakes. <br/>For Lunch, the toasted BLT with fries is my go to item from the menu.

Blythe37. Ok, so although I didn't enjoy the dessert, my husband did (I brought it home for him). He found it quite yummy. So taste is obviously an individual thing!

Inconsistent Chicken Tenders. I've been a dozen times. Chicken souvlaki dinner is awesome. I LOVE the chicken tenders, but they're either a hit of a miss. 50% of the time, they are amazing. But I've also been served tenders with soggy batter or wayyyy overcooked rock-hard not edible chicken strips. I think this is probably inconsistency with cooks, owners really need to work on making them more consistent. When they are made right, they are awesome. At this point, I don't know if its worth the risk.

Rider. Have eaten there twice now, first time at 1:10 pm and the place was near empty, and got a table waited for it to be cleaned, watched nice portion sizes coming out. Ordered their James Dean burger and fries. The bun far out weighed the meat, and my fries, all 20 of them were left overs from someone's order, they were cold and soggy.<br/> Wrote this off as a off day, listening to others bragging about the place so went back once more.<br/>Second time went and tried a burger again, must say the buns are huge, the fries once again were not fresh unless they had been sitting there all morning, because they tasted like grease. <br/>So no third try will eat were I can get a decent burger and fresh cooked fries, not left overs......so much good being said about the place I guess I just pick the wrong time to eat there......like lunch time.....

Exactly what I expected.. All of the previous reviews about portion size and service are correct. It is a small family diner, the food is tasty but a little bit fatty/greasy. This is not a negative trait, just saying it is what you should expect from a family diner. I would definitely go back.

Fantastic Food!. Ever since they opened they have had fantastic food! Their menu is always adaptable, prices very fair, and when they change, the service gets better! Their breakfasts are super filling, lunches are just scrumptious, and I love love love their dinner specials! I suggest to all people who like friendly service, great food and a family friendly diner to eat at Fifty's.

Business owner. I've attended Fifty's several time now. Every time, whether it be for breakfast or lunch, the food has always been fantastic. excellent portions on the plate, great pricing, and fantastic quality of the food itself. Manny and the staff are always friendly and courteous. He takes time out to come see the patrons and make sure they are enjoying themselves. I take my clients there for lunch meetings and they too have become loyal customers too now. Keep up the good work !!!

Yummy and fast totally worth every dollar

Best breakfast in North Bay!. Have eaten here several times for breakfast or dinner and the food is always good and the portion sizes are huge! The owner takes pride in what they make - seems like everything is from scratch. Prices are very reasonable, food is very good quality, and they are really accommodating for dietary restrictions and substitutions. Will definitely go back!

Really good food. This place is great. One of the only places around with a decent smoked meat sandwich. Lots to choose from on the menu and very reasonable.Cheap decent food and fast service and you can't beat 2 for 1 smoked meat sandwiches!! The portions are the size of my left leg. Delicious food. I loved it.

Home cooked meals for a decent price. I've eaten here quite a few times and have been pleased with my meal every time. The portions are huge, so there are always left overs, which is great. The food is amazing. I highly recommend this place :)

Fresh food/great value. Really enjoy this place. I have been several times for both breakfast and diner. Food is always fresh and hot. Fresh veggies...not frozen, Staff is fast and efficient and very friendly. Sorry to see the other reviewer had a bad experience but I have been several times with a variety of people and all enjoyed. Chef/owner comes out when he has time to talk to customers. Great spot....I will be back

Delicious Food for a Great Price!. Fifty's Diner has a huge menu, everything is homemade and tastes great! The owner works really hard to provide excellent service and great tasting food to his customers. I would definitely recommend this Diner to others! If you love dessert - you should try the homemade pies!

Not so great. Made the mistake taking my son and daughter in law here on a Sunday afternoon. Wasn't too busy when we got there and found a clean table right away, but waited forever for service. Place filled up very quickly with the after church crowd and made service even worse. Table beside us was so close my son was almost bumping elbows with the diners at the other table. Orders were basically right, but only lukewarm when they FINALLY arrived. I ordered gravy on the side and they put it on my fries which made it so I couldn't take home what was left because they were soggy with gravy. My daughter in law asked for a take out container when we finally got the bill but I had to go ask for one after the second attempt to go and pay the bill. Two attempts because I was ignored for almost 10 minutes when I went to the cash the first time. Was very tempted to just walk out without paying the bill. When I was finally able to pay, I got a dirty look when I didn't add a tip. Sorry, but tips are earned and no on there really deserved it. What should have been a nice 1 hour lunch turned into almost 2 hours of waiting for disappointing food. Not recommended.

Food was ok, order was wrong. Not a huge thing, but I did ask for gravy on the side not on the food. I was told they did not have diet pepsi but I saw it in the cooler when we were paying. Service was realky bad. Watched people sit and wait and people that came in 5-10 minutes later got served first. Place was freezing, over 1/2 the ppl were wearing their coats and the blowing cold air quickly turned the food cold. He did enjoy his schnitzel and the classic club was good. Coleslaw was tasteless like they forgot the dressing. <br/>We don't plan on going back.
