Review White Owl Bistro - North Bay

Brilliant atmosphere and staff. Food was on point and they did well in catering to dietary restrictions. Well worth the price paid for exceptional food. The recommendation from the waitress was also really good. So many dishes went past looking exceptional.

The food here is incredible, the menu is thoughtfully planned and not overwhelming. We've been three times and plan to make this a regular spot for brunch and dinners out. The local ingredients really make the difference, and Corrine and Rita provided excellent service to us.

Everything was amazing. The food was delicious and affordable. The view from the patio is beautiful, and the atmosphere is so welcoming. Staff was incredibly friendly. Overall a fantastic experience, and the perfect spot for a date night!

This well established restaurant, on the shores of lake Nippising in North Bay, is one of our favourite foodie destinations in the region. We sat on the patio and were surrounded by the great environment and attentive service. The food was good, including the fresh, homemade bread. Our 4 star rating was due to the table not being cleared between courses and the time to have our mains delivered to the table was quite lengthy. Otherwise this iconic, shoreline establishment is a must visit when touring the North Bay area!

Another delicious meal at the White Owl Bistro from Chef Renee and waitress Rita in North Bay while staying at the Sunset Inn next door with Chetan and Dipka. Two symbiotic businesses that so badly need our local support. Brilliant ambience, fine dining, excellent quality and customer service at reasonable prices.

**Updated** started to get sick about 2-3 hours after eating here. Was sick the rest of the day and night and some of this morning. The only thing I ate that day was this meal. I would not come here again. Ordered the roast beef croissant sandwich and the crepes for dessert. The sandwich wasn't bad, nothing really special honestly. Fries could be cooked a bit longer for sure. Dessert was great. Server was very nice and quick.

The atmosphere was wonderful over looking the lake. The pickerel was delicious but my main complaint is the portions were small. When you spend $27 on a meal you should not leave hungry. 😝 It does not cost a lot to add more vegetables to a plate or at the very least extra bread. Would we go back? Yes as it was a pleasant evening, hoping there will be more then 1 asparagus and a couple mini potatoes on our plate.

My girlfriend & I met for some much needed girl time & it just so happened to be Sunday brunch! Food was amazing ~ service was beyond compare ~ and to top it all off creme brule that is divine! Beautiful atmosphere ~ I felt so at peace! I would highly recommend going to The White Owl Bistro!

Love this little place. Friendly waitstaff, clean bathrooms, great ambiance, and a wonderful locally sourced menu that never disappoints. There's no doubt in my mind that passion is the driving force behind the scenes at The White Owl Bistro.

Our server Michelle took excellent care of us! She had a great smile and was very pleasant and attentive. The food was out of this world! The presentation was beautiful and it tasted amazing! 10/10 �

Had an exceptional meal tonight. Food was delicious, service was top-rate and the atmosphere warm and pleasant. The creme brulee is the consistently the best I've found.

We had the best lunch today. Everything was amazing. My wrap was stuffed full of good things. The fries were so good. We will definitely come back. Thanks for the great experience.

We enjoyed the Harvest Evening and wow! Loved the Hubbard squash pasta and garlic beet soup. Fresh, local ingredients always make things taste better! Thanks for your creativity and passion for good food!

Cute restaurant made for brunch or dinner dining.  Amazing location in the summer, as they have a patio overlooking Lake Nipissing.  Their new Sunday Brunch menu is amazing and affordable!  Best french toast in town and $10! It consists of: three pieces of homemade bread, with cinnamon and rich maple Crème Anglaise.  They also have a fantastic eggs benedict using local ham and a delicious salmon benedict.<br/> <br/><br/>This isn't the place to go if you are looking for a bar atmosphere.  It is calm and quiet most of the time.  They bring in produce and meat from their own farm and the local area.

Best bistro food in North Bay. This place is so quaint! The food and service are awesome. I enjoy going with my girlfriend for lunches. Great salads and home add soups. We hosted our morning after wedding brunch there. It was so good!

Spectacular. Me and my wife had dinner On sept 8 2014. I had a roasted beet salad That was to die for, My wife had the escargots and We both had the chicken supreme. The service was great. Ambiance-Perfect And all our food was Absolutely Way above the bar. For north bay I recommend that Everyone tries the food! We had a great time, And the food speaks for itself. We will defiantly be back. Keep up the good work. And please keep the roasted beet salad on the menu. Darrel Legare.

Lovely fish, lovely night. I had a delicious fresh Trout expertly prepared and nicely accompanied with lightly steam fresh veggies. Wild rice mixture rounded out the meal. $23 seemed fair. Attentive service, and a swell view of the sunset from the patio. What more do you need?

Poor Service. My boyfriend and I ate at the White Owl Bistro on Valentine's Day and the service was absolutely awful, which is disappointing because the food was delicious and the atmosphere very warm and welcoming. I'm not sure if it was because there was one waitress working on one of the busiest dinner nights of the year or because we are young, regardless I won't be back.

Good Fresh Food. The White Owl tries to bring a little more sophistication to the typical North Bay menu. <br/><br/>They use nice fresh and often local ingredients and offer creative menu options. <br/><br/>Service is average and would have liked my server to have a little more knowledge of the menu.<br/><br/>Overall good meal and will return.

Good value for money. My wife and I recently had dinner here, service was good, the meal was excellent. Not being a guy who love's his veggies I must admit they were really good. I learned later the owner grows his own veggies on his hobby farm. As far as I am concerned it's half the price of Churchill's and twice as good.

I've been here three times. The first time, the patio was full and a very nice waiter attempted to handle the ENTIRE lunch rush himself. He did a great job under the circumstances. These things happen, and the food was lovely so I returned... On my last two visits, I had the same middle aged lady serve us. The first time I assumed her poor service, lack of knowledge about the menu and specials and inability to pour wine was due to inexperience or nerves.. I distinctly remember saying "Oh, she must be new here." Well, we got stuck with her once again on our last visit.. Urghh.. Although I enjoy the food and the patio, this woman's serving etiquette rivals a bad truck stop diner. It was little things: messing up our orders with little regard for rectifying her mistakes, pouring wine by reaching across the table (walk around, lady! You almost elbowed me in the eye!), reaching over the table to hand hot dishes to each guest where they're expected to grab the plate midway in the air, etc... These things as a whole are not a big deal, but when you're claiming to be a fine dining establishment with pricey menu options, make sure the staff reflects the same quality! It's a shame. There's clearly a passion in the kitchen, and the food is wonderful! Sadly, I can't risk another encounter with this server.. Twice was enough!

Disappointed. We are up here from Strathroy On. sledding and were referred here from hotel owner next door. 2 adults and 1 ten year old. Ordered the beef dish 4.50 an ounce min. 6 ounces per person. The beef was very fatty and tough. Couldnt cut meat properly anyways with dollar store steak knives. French onion soup was awful. Hardly any onoin soup taste, it was all absorbed in the bread and cheese. The worst was the bill. 3 people, 2 of us 8oz one with 6 oz, 4 beers total, one pop and a soup. 132. and 15% tip was over 150.00! Horrible deal and it was our first night. Wont be back even though it is conveniently located door. Disappointed to say the least.

Great restaurant. This is a excellent restaurant. I was staying The Best Western, which is a 5 minute walk away. The restaurant is tucked away on the water side of the street, next too Churchhills, another great restaurant. The menu is varied and has traditional as well as unique menu items. I ate there three consecutive days. <br/><br/>The first day I had a traditional salad with greens and spinach,with a side of freshly grilled trout in a homemade raspberry vinaigrette. It was a perfect combination and the staff were friendly and courteous.<br/> <br/>The second evening I had the beef tenderloin, and I started with an excellent ministrone soup. the tenderloin was as tender as I could have imagined it to be, served perfect to a medium rare. It was finished with roasted potatoes and vegetables.<br/><br/>The third evening I had the ministrone soup again and tried the rack of lamb. Once again I was greeted by a happy staff I then friendly place, the food was excellent and I would heartily recommend it to anyone.

Asked for my wild boar well done. Came raw. Then asked for a salad to replace it. The earwig on the top was enough that I won't be back
