Review Nipigon Cabins Restaurant - Nipigon

Courtney Pozzo
I drove from Calgary to Toronto early September, and needed a place to crash in Nipigon. I contacted Sunnyside Cabins and rented a cabin for $112 with taxes included. The lady I phoned was nice and friendly, and it was contactless check-in which I appreciated very much. The cabin was to be expected. It wasn't overly fancy, or updated - but it was good enough and had two comfy beds. They had a small kitchenette, with various pots and pans, as well as a cupboard of dishes and cups. The location was decent enough as it was right in town, so within walking distance of amenities. Basically, it was great for a road stop and I could see the appeal of somebody staying longer in the area at this cabin too. Why I am giving two stars today, though, is when I went to have a shower. The bathtub/shower surround was made of linoleum which was peeling at the edges and clearly moldy. There was a mystery blue fluid pooled in the bottom of the tub, and the shower head was basically a kitchen sink faucet. The individual soap packet had already been opened. The accumulation of grossness that was the bathroom still would not have dissuaded me from having a shower after being on the road for 30 hours -- except all of the towels were wet.

We had a lovely stay at these cabins. The house was a little old, but it was sooo much nicer than staying in hotels. Its close to a tower with a lovely view of the lake, and the owner Shelly was very friendly and accommodating. We stayed in Dec. There were space heaters, a kitchenette, with utensils and dishes, and kettles, microwave, oven, fridge and sink. Shower has impressive water pressure (for some too strong). The privacy was wonderful.

Fantastic cabin. We got 2 double beds, and they were really comfortable. Minutes away from the water and a really neat lookout tower, looking over the Nipigon Lake. The website says that its a kitchenette, but its more like a kitchen, with a full stove and oven, a sink, and everything that you'd need. Wifi was nice and fast, there was a flatscreen TV (that we didn't use, but it looked like it was in good condition), and the driveway is right by the front door. Would book again.

This place has really good food! At first when I got the chicken fingers, I thought they might be dry or flavorless by looking at them, but they were quite savory, especially with the Sriracha. My fiancee's burger was also very delicious. The prices were a little high, but it was worth the cost. Lastly, the staff was very friendly and accommodating.

Great place, nice atmosphere and friendly staff and owners. The menu has several interesting and tasty items, with variety you would not expect in a small town. Great view from the patio. I have been here 6 to 10 times and have always had a good experience.

Great clean cabins. The shower had the best water pressure in 1000 km. Great food and Great views from the cafe. Food was amazing. Wifi included. Slept like a baby and great prices. 11/10 would eat and sleep here again.

I was recommended this spot by a local and found myself pleasantly amazed by what a gem it was. Great view, good prices, and food was excellent. The service was also wonderful! I had the buffalo chicken wrap and my companions had an assortment of burgers, all of which were hot and delicious. I will be stopping by again on my next drive through Nipigon!

Great find! Nice cozy cabin all to my partner and I. Host was very accommodating when we arrived late at night and not expensive for everything that is available. Overall would do again in a heartbeat!
