Review Frijoles Fresh Mex Burritos - Niagara Falls

I use to eat here alot when they first opened and I loved it. I tried it again recently and it did not wow me the same way it use to. We ordered a taco bag (which was fine) and a vegetarian burrito which was really really bland. There were no fresh sautéed veggies like many other veggie burritos locally. Just unflavored beans and rice, even with a bunch of sauces I had to go back to the store and ask for sides of even more sauces just to have some sort of flavor besides cold bland rice. Maybe other meat options are good but would not recommend the vegetarian options.

Literally still eating my shrimp bowl as I’m writing this! The BEST burrito I’ve ever had! Seriously so fresh and absolutely phenomenal! The pineapple salsa is incredible & the sauces ! ! Only complaint is i will be craving this place till I die and I’m not local :( come to Waterloo Frijoles!!!!

Such an amazing taco/burrito place!! We got burrito bowls and burritos, both are amazing! Everything (expect the cheese and tortillas) are made in house. This means you’re getting clean and fresh food! The workers will answer any questions you have about the food. In terms of the taste...try it, trust me. It was a lot of food yet we did not feel overly full after finishing! Highly recommend if you’re in the area!

We discovered this place when visiting Niagara Falls recently and were delighted. The fish burrito was delicious and full of great, fresh ingredients... so much so that it was hard to believe they could roll it up! Will definitely return.

The flavor was good, ordered a steak burrito. The amount of steak for the money was definitely not worth it, it was mostly filled with rice

Service was good. Staff is friendly enough. Found the ground beef to be a bit unseasoned. Wasn't bad. Just not ground breaking. I'd try the again. May have been an off day.

I love the tacos and Doritos bag here! The service is quick and food is delicious. Will definitely visit again when going to Niagara Falls.

Average tasting. Nothing was spicy really even though they are the spicy version of the toppings. Staff is nice and friendly. Fresh ingredients and all but the chicken was so dry and I felt it smelt a little like it was fish. Nothing to write home about really.

Love this place!!!! Great little 'hole-in-the-wall' burrito joint. Their food is always fresh. The staff is always super friendly and very helpful when it comes to sauce selection (I'm a wimp but my boyfriend LOVES spicy food). Would recommend to any tex-mex lover!

The fact that there's some reviews that aren't 5 stars blows my mind. I've eaten at every burrito place possible. And being a vegetarian there's not much to go off of (beans cheese veg) but somehow their burritos etc far exceed everyone else's! Now I want one. Mmmmm

GREAT food!!!! The tacos in a bag were a BIG hit with our whole family.....beef or chicken....can't go wrong with either! Fresh, made from scratch...the beef is shredded slow cooked beef, not ground beef. Great value!!!

Went today as I have been for time, I usually go 3-4 times a week. Was really upset with the small amount of food they gave me. Was given about half the product I usually receive. After paying that much money for something you’d expect a decent amount. On top of everything, the employee was extremely rude, and I wasn’t given an explanation as to why the rationing was so limited, just a lot of attitude. I’ve never had a bad experience here, but after this I’m probably not coming back.

Went to Frijoles today as I have since it opened and was shocked at the small amount of meat that the staff member put on the chicken burrito. I mentioned that it didn't seem to be a lot of chicken and not what I'm used to from previous visits. I was informed that staff have been directed to limit the meat to a level scoop. Not sure what a standard ice cream scoop holds but looking at it it wasn't much. Never had a complaint prior to this but now after spending over $26 for two burritos that were pretty much vegetarian, I may have to find another burrito place. Be sure to check on your next visit and be prepared to feel like you just got ripped off!

Forget about Burrito Boyz, BarBurrito and all the other Mexican franchises, this is the place to be if you're in Niagara when you have a burrito hinkering.

Nothing special. Had lunch there today after reading positive reviews and was quite disappointed. The taco style salad was very bland with lots of dry shredded beef that was lacking in flavour. We had nachos with salsa that tasted like it was right out of the bottle and the pico de gallo was totally uninspired ...little to no cilantro and very mild flavoured. There was an option of corn as a topper for the salad and it tasted canned.:(<br/>Not sure what everyone is raving about. If you like huge portions of bland food this might be the place to go. Service was friendly .....that's about it. Far from the best Mexican food I've ever had.

Not to be missed. Have only ever tried the burritos here, but everything looks unbelievably good. Super fresh ingredients...worth being full for hours afterwards. Yum yum yum.

Gluten free. We travel over the bridge for this food!My wife can enjoy the gluten-free burritos,vegan style.Well worth the trip for us,as it is just down the road from a store we go to called bulk barn.I have tried to get the owner to open one in Buffalo!Food is wonderful here.

Very flavourful!. I drove by this place a few months ago and was surprised to see a Mexican place in the area that I hadn't yet been to- Mexican is my all time favourite thing to eat, so I knew I had to try it soon. <br/><br/>I was told burritos were their specialty, so I decided to go for the pork carnitas burrito. I loaded my burrito up with the black beans, rice, pork, guac, pico, corn, lettuce and whatever else they had. I was very happy to see so many nice add-ons, I like everything and the kitchen sink. Delicious all around. The pork was perfectly salty and the guac had a good mix of creamy avocado and lime juice. The spicy roasted garlic sauce was deceptively milk on first taste, but then the heat took a second to sink in and it added a nice flavour. I ate about half of it before I was completely full. <br/><br/> I also was very happy to see Mexican cola, but I wish they had real Mexican coke. <br/><br/>The service was great, very friendly, fast and informative. The server putting the burrito together explained the sauces very well and let me try his recommendation first. <br/><br/>I will be back- the prices were great and the food was delicious. Definitely recommend!

So good we air High Fived the Staff!. Read about this place before venturing to Niagara for the weekend. So glad we stopped by. I had the Pork Carnitas Burrito and a single Fish Taco while my lady had the Pork Carnitas Tacos. Staff was super friendly and hilarious. They recommended sauces to accompany what we ordered and helped make the atmosphere of the place awesome. We enjoyed the food and staff so much we air high fived everyone on staff as we left. They didn't leave us hanging. Can't say enough good things about this spot.

I was stoked to try this joint while in Niagara Falls, but was disappointed with a dry chicken burrito topped with watery black beans. No the dry and watery mix didn't make it delightful. Chipotle rules the burrito biz. These guys can keep trying.<br/><br/>G

Finding good Mexican food in Canada has always been a challenge. But my family stumbled upon Frijoles fresh mex quite by accident and what a gem. Food was fresh and home made with a huge variety of in house sauces from mild to very hot. We had lunch including steak burrito fish and pork tacos and a quesadilla every thing was delicious!!<br/>A must stop in Niagara Falls Ont

Everything seemed fresh. I really liked it. All I'll say is don't order any sides because the burrito just might do you in. It's massive. A+

The food is delicious, but upon paying for my meal the guy behind the Counter didn't return my change he just decided that the tip was implied, which is very rude in my books frankly it was insulting. It made me feel angry

Went here for dinner last weekend not knowing what to expect. Friendly staff. Got the fish taco but found it bland since I could only handle very light lightning sauce. Watch out! It's really hot. Still ok overall. May go again and try something else.

I eat here almost every week. The food is top of the line quality. The sauces are freaking amazing! A little pricey but the quality is phenomenal, you get what you pay for. I take all my friends there!

I'm from Utah, where we have our well known Cafe Rio restaurants, which have some of the best burritos I've ever had. This place was unexpectedly very different from what I'm used to. instead if smothering the burrito in sauce and melting it, they put the sauce inside the burrito and put the entire burrito on the grill. It makes for a crunchy tortilla that is almost too hot to hold. And yes, you read correctly- you hold your burrito. It is served in a bag/tin foil and you eat it almost like a sub sandwich. It's really good, though. I had the tender beef with chile verde sauce. They give you the choice of what else to add, such as corn, tomatoes, lettuce, etc. and also give you a choice of black, pinto, or refried beans, OR a combination of any. It's a very friendly restaurant and is worth trying. The only downside is that there are no fountain drinks, which I've found to be a very common trend in the northeast.

This place is so easy to recommend to anyone because it is so freaking good. Every bite seems to be better than the last. The burritos are huge and fantastic. I've had the chicken and pork, both were good but i cant believe how good the pork was. Love the white lightning hot sauce! Its not too hot, the yogurt really calms it down, but its a nice kick. The staff there are amazing and friendly. Feel free to ask for recommendations or about any of the options. The fresh guacomole is delicious and appreciated. Actually all the ingredients are very fresh. And although they ask for everyones name when placing an order that kind of grows on you and makes it seem like they are interested in treating their customers more individually... My mouth waters when thinking about the food here. Enjoy!

Great taste/value, FRESH!. This is my new favourite restaurant in the Falls. I bring everyone here... tourists, co-workers, family.<br/>The toppings are all super fresh, service is fast and VERY friendly... but honestly, the food speaks for itself. My favourite is the chicken burrito. I CRAVE this stuff! I wish Frijoles was open on Sundays!

Having spent 2 days in Niagara eating what can only be described as average quality food, I was delighted to eat at Frijoles.<br/><br/>The staff were extremely friendly, carefully explaining the options available and providing recommendations. Loved this place! Being a tourist I hate spending all my money on dinner so decided to venture out of the tourist trap and found this place. Food was awesome, so many choices but most of all the worker was super friendly! I would recommend this place to anyone!

I made this account specifically to give this place a review, I absolutely loved it! The food is great and the prices rock and they give you so much food, both of the guys are soo nice and the service was awesome, and whoever said it was a wrap disguised as a burrito? They let you choose what you want in it so if your burrito wasn't what you expected that's on you buddy , I highly recommend it!!! Plus the coke comes in glass bottle, loved that :)

Checked out the place fir the first time for lunch and it was delish!!! Burrito was huge, pork was delish, sauces r what make it tasty. Even the Mexican sodas were good! Coming back soon!!

Standard make your own burrito. Similar to Mucho Burrito. They do have interesting drinks and nice tortilla chips though. Pork seemed a little dry. The dishes were very mild.

Amazing Local Business!!!. This locally owned "mom and pop" burrito shop is fantastic! Upon visiting Frijoles you will find invested and extremely friendly owners (always behind the counter), spic and span kitchen and eating areas, a variety of sauces, hip music and of course, delicious and FRESH ingredients. You can also fill your belly with delicous, not heavy and greasy food with a drink for under $10! To reiterate what was said by other reviewers, it's not greasy, dirty, authentic Mexican (which is also very delicious in its own right) but it is its own thing which is awesome. If you are from the Niagara Region and don't want to travel to 'Burrito Boyz' or 'Burrito Banditos', go to Frijoles, you won't be sorry!

Beats Burrito Boyz and their Gumbo rules!!!!. I never thought I would find a Burrito that wouold rival those offered up by the Burrito Boyz in Toronto but I must say Brad and Rhonda have done it. The fresh overstuffed Burritos are to die for. This is one of the few fast food choices that does not leave me groggy for work in the afternoon. Brad makes an authentic roux based Gumbo that is in a league of its own. This place will rock your tastebuds.

Good Fresh, Clean, Outstanding Food. Reading some of the other reviews of this little establishment I get a little erked with the idea of Authentic Mexican, or south American Cuisine, and more so about the Red Neck mentality. Firstly when stepping it to this resturant i was greated by the owners, whom made me feel right at home, which always helps when in a small dining enviroment. All produce in place was clean washed properly and cut finely, the sauces all made in house, and more importantly imported from mexico. I have to admit that walking into the dining room is a experience in it's self, tiles and beautiful little Trees adorned the area and it was quite open. I thoroughly enjoyed the food and seeing as it was prepared right in front of me there was little question of it's quality or perparedness. As a life long resident of Niagara Falls finding a alternative source for outstanding food, and admireable oweners is parimount when i'm choosing a place to spend my cash. This is the place where i will spend my money mostly not only to support local business outside of the adventure that is clifton hill or queen street, but also because the food is amazing, and the owners believe in there investment. If your looking Authentic mexican, go to mexico, if your looking for an amazing fusion of solid owners and amazing food go to frijoles. Also as a cook in the industry in Niagara falls, surely my opinion is at least worth a look.

Mexicanada. Fresh healthy version of Mexican with good sized proportions, burritos are big enough for two people! Owners and employees are so nice. Not authentic Mexican food although best in the area hands down. <br/><br/>Fresh and Yummy definitely a must go.

Burritos to Die For. White lightening sauce, cranberry beans, corn salsa, these are just a few of my favourite things at Frijoles. These fresh babies are are so good I have started to dream about them. Go for the full burrito, although the fish tacos are fantastic...the burritos are to die for. I'm a regular there already! Thanks to the owners for taking the plunge and opening in the Falls ...OUTRAGEOUS!
