Review Otaru Sushi - Newmarket

Great place for a cheap sushi date! I love walking along Main St. Newmarket exploring the shops, and then walking into Otaru sushi for a nice lunch. I've been here many times and even tried their takeout. Their rolls with the cucumber and rice paper are definitely worth a try, and their tempura is the BEST I've had in Newmarket for sure! I recommend the seafood dinner if you LOVE tempura like me, it's totally worth the cost, and it's still crispy if you get takeout :D

Super friendly staff! Fresh and Excellent food for a good price! I will come here again!! I absolutely love this place. It's the best authentic Japanese food I've had since coming home from Japan ^-^. It makes me happy to see Newmarket finally has a good Japanese restaurant and it's far more than just sushi.

Amazing sushi and staff, very clean and well kept place

Today I ordered Otaru Sushi through skip the dishes. I usually order Sushi Jun but decided to try something different. I ordered edamame and Gyoza, which were fine. I also ordered Chicken Yakitori. But what I got was certainly NOT chicken. The meat was brown and pink and full of fat... This is absolutely disgusting- I can't est this and I honestly am not sure what it is. But this is not okay. No amount of Teriyaki sauce is going to cover that up. I will NEVER be ordering from here again.

Decent standard and good taste for downtown Newmarket. We ordered a dynamite roll, short rib bento box and sizzling plate with steak. Prices are reasonable for the location, not the most competitive. Service is friendly. Would visit a couple of times a year as there are so many restaurants on main street.

I feel bad leaving a bad review but this was terrible. The quality and size of sashimi, sushi and maki were unacceptable. Compared to the nearby competition the rolls were half the size for the same price. Not to get too nasty but I've honestly had better sushi from the grocery store. We spent $80 for takeout sushi for 4 people and left us hungry and completely disappointed.

Absolutely hands down my favorite sushi in Newmarket. I've been going here for a few years now and have never been let down. Kind, fast service, delicious food, and a wonderful versatile menu! Over the years this place has become my go to spot for various friend outings, dates, a hot cup of tea while I catch up with my dad or simply just some takeout for me to enjoy on a summer day. The yaki nasu is by far my favorite, along with the jade rolls, mango avocado and rainbow rolls. You can tell they take pride in their work. I'm always Looking forward to my next meal from here 🖤🖤🖤

Visited for the first time. Excellent meal. Ramen was very good. Sashimi platter excellent. Wide variety of almost everything you can think of. We will be back again and again.

Amazing restaurant. The staff are so friendly and they always remember our order when we come. Definitely one of our favorite places to eat, with a lot of comfortable seating :)

Was really craving sushi the Sunday I went to this place and had the worst sushi ever and decided to not eat it after 3-4 pieces i had ,just wanted to pay and leave. We 'd ordered another item and told them to please cancel as we will leave. When the manager heard that she brought the item we wanted to cancel in front of us and started to argue in front of the other 2 tables in the restaurant on how we cant do that and that we need to pay it. Ok, fine we will pay it. We told her the reason we dont want it is because the food was bad, no salmon in the salmon roll lol just a corner filled with some kind of salmon paste, rice was falling apart, totally lost my appetite, went home hungry. All this time she kept talking over us (really pissed me off!) As we were calmly trying to explain to her. Its not like we didnt wanted to pay , but a discount would have been nice! She preferred to have a fight in front of her customers LOL. I left her a 50 cents tip she didnt deserve!�

Friendly atmosphere and amazing food! Have been there in multiple occasions and have loved it every time. One of my favourite places!

All the food we have tried so far has been so good, and the price is unbeatable! The service is also great :)
