Very flavourful food! Prepared fast. Vegetarian options. We don't find it very spicy at all (as someone else commented about). They also sell delicious hot sauces if you want to add heat to your meal. A great option for authentic tasting food. It closes early, so a good lunch/early dinner option.
Terrific food. Had the curry goat roti and some doubles. Both items were sheer Trinidadian culinary perfection. Balanced flavours, wonderful spicing, just delicious! This should be a 5 star review if not for the unpleasant, unfriendly service. The cranky guy behind the counter seemed like he was unhappy to be there. Our order came out of the kitchen quickly though. If you do go, just order, get your food, pay, and get out. Head down to River Market, find a table and eat there.
Great family run business. Great goat Roti and plenty hotsauce a favorite of mine if in the area
Lots of flavour and good spice. This is one of our favourite places to get roti. Friendly staff. Enough variety in the menu. Got sorrel, Peardrax, doubles, and beef roti. So good. Never disappoints. My wife is from Trinidad and loves the food from here. So lucky to have good Trinni food close by. Would recommend this place to anyone. We will be back (again). Hope you enjoy it as much as we do.
Wow! I blown away by the flavours of the food at this place. We ordered the Jerk Chicken and Curry Goat Roti.
Jerk Chicken: I was so pleasantly surprised by the flavour of the rice and the chicken. The rice had this really nice fresh and uplifting flavour to it, well balanced with the spices of the chicken. The chicken, was spot on - extremely aromatic / roasted flavours all at once. It was a delight!
Curry Goat Roti: Just as beautiful as the dish above. The roti was thin and even throughout with that nice dhalpuri which adds some great texture to the gravy of the curry. The Goat was cooked perfectly, something which fairly few restaurants do so well.
Remarks: If you love Indian food, you’re bound to love this place. It gives you the feels of a nice home cooked meal.
Tips: If you order the roti, make sure you order it unwrapped in the options and it would be nice if the restaurant could invest in something order than the styrofoam box because most of our curry had leaked out!
First time trying a roti.... I asked for a recommendation, and two guys in the restaurant quickly volunteered opinions before the owner could. We tried a chicken and a goat roti... Chicken one was a sweeter milder curry, while the goat was more in your face with the spice. Both were great, but if you are only "ok" with spice... Maybe skip the goat one. Will go back to try something another time!
