Review Ole Ole Mexican Deli - New Westminster

I went to this awesome place with my bf to celebrate oir anniversary and we were so happy to choose going here. As an "appetizer" we had this pupusa (which I believe is from el Salvador 🤔) and it had cheese inside with pickled cabbage on top with red sauce, it was delicious. As main dishes my bf ordered enchiladas suizas with chicken filling and green tomato homemade sauce and cheese on top with a side of brown rice, black beans and pico de gallo. The tortillas were not too soggy, the sauce was just tasty and not too salty. These might be the best enchiladas I have tried so far in Vancouver. And my bf had the beef chimichanga with a side of salad - lettuce and pico de gallo - (which I tried and it had some special dressing that made it taste spectacularly fresh and savory). And then the owner made us a special taco order because of our anniversary. As a dessert we had this "flan" which I believe is similar to cream brulee with caramel sauce on top, not too sweet but so creamy. It was amazing, I just loved coming here, the prices are affordable, the food is fresh and the staff are kind. 100% recommended.

Had take out here one day to try it out and food was good so decided to dine in for once..not sure how I feel about this place after dining in. Taste of food is great but I heard the microwave being used to heat up food a lot and it makes me wonder how much of this food is fresh? I ordered the Burrito and the burrito itself tasted good but everything else but the rice for sure was not fresh judging by how dry it was. If you have a child that needs a high chair, I highly recommend not using the one they have here. They had one high chair and handed it to us with crusty food stains all over the chair.

Nice little place for Mexican food. It is family run business. I tried veggie Chimichanga and it was delicious. They cut fresh veggies for salad and it was best salad 😋😋. 👍🏻👍🏻

Ate here for the first time over the weekend and it was great. The service was friendly and quick and everything was delicious.

Loved it! We had enchiladas (one with mole and one with green salsa), a papusa and flan to share. Everything was delicious! The owner Raul is also the nicest, which made our meal even better :)

A quiet and cosy restaurant, it serves authentic Mexican food. I tried the Chimichanga and it was very delicious. It came with a salad and I devoured it because it was so good. Best salad I've had in a while. I also ordered the Tostada and it was super tasty and a good size too. Overall a very clean and welcoming place. I think I'll bring my partner here for dinner.

I hear of this place Oto Ole Ole , when i got there we hesitate , but we were there and diecide to try Im I glad I did , it made me feel i was back in Mexico,for the taste of the food, My friend had steak Ranchero a delicious Enchilada and Steak Ranchero with fresh tomatillo sauce wow, rice and beans, guacamole for only 12.50 , Steak was tender great tomatillo sauce on top to die for , rice beans and guacamole I had pollo a la crema (Chicken in cream sauce) mine was delicious!!!!!! it was prepared with green pepper corn cream and brandy I was surprised this dish will cost at least 17.95 in any other place but Y pay only 12.50 for each , No Margaritas , but yhey have mexican and regular pop , olso hibiscus and hgorchata watter , very refreshing and tasty for dissert I had a fabulous platanos fritos (bananas flamble) 5.50 and my friend had a very tasty flan (creme caramell), I will recommend this place to any one , it is not very elegant, but sure feels good in there, the owner is been there for 17 years Good luck Raul, thank you for a fantastic food and great service.

We've been going to Ole Ole since it opened many years ago. The food is always very good. My favourite dish is no longer on the menu but he makes it whenever I order it. His flans are THE best! Authentic Mexican food right in my neighbourhood.

Real home cooked authentic Mexican meal. The owner immigrated from Mexico City. His passion is cooking. His dishes are different than the run off Mexican restaurants. The owner is personal and friendly. My husband and I enjoy chatting with him. I absolutely recommend this gem.

Thanks to all the amazing reviews, we headed out to Ole Ole one night, and WOW. Fresh, authentic, delicious Mexican food. Ample servings, great service, and super reasonably priced! The decor is simple, and there is no alcohol, but those aren't high on our list of needs. The pupusas were amazing. Every entree we've had has been exceptionally tasty, and my mouth waters just thinking of my next serving of Bananas Flambe... Can't wait for our next visit!

Absolutely amazing food! Enchiladas were fantastic, especially with the tomatillo sauce. I kept saying yum the whole meal. If you're in the area, stop by for an authentic, home-made Mexican dining experience.

THE WORST! WORST! WORST!Cleary anyone one who has ever given this place a good review has never ate good Mexican food. not sure if this place used to be good based on below reviews or maybe was an owner change but it certainly is not good anymore.Ordered Chips and Salsa and chips were cold and stale. Rice and beans were terrible def not authentic. Pupusas were mediocre re heated and old. Taco meat was ok but they wrapped it a hard old tortilla shell and everything came fresh out of the microwave :( .  Ordered  Guacamole and they gave us pico de gallo with a maybe a teaspoon of avocado mixed in. Very strange my co-worker had to run to the bathroom 10 minutes after finishing our meal. Well the amount we attempted to eat. The best part of the meal was the can of Coca Cola I drank. That's pretty bad if the canned drink is better than the food on your plateone of WORST experiences I've ever had in any restaurant.DO NOT EAT HERE UNLESS YOU WANT TO BE DISAPPOINTED I never write reviews but it was so bad I had to warn ppl not to waste their time and money here.If there was an option to give a zero star rating I would.

My husband & I got take out the other night. I had the vegetarian burrito & he had the suiza enchiladas. Everything tasted home made & the owner was kind & cooked the food himself. We will definitely order from there again soon!<br/>

Ole Ole was a hidden gem we just discovered!  The food is excellent - fresh, ample portions, and authentically Mexican.  We've been back again, and can't wait to continue to explore the menu.  Pupusas - out of this world!  Every entree we've eaten has been delicious, with the best black beans I've ever eaten, and amazing fresh salsa, guacamole, and traditional rice alongside the main.  The Bananas Flambe -  also out of this world... I salivate thinking about them.  The decor is simple, so if you're looking for a fancy restaurant, this isn't it.  There is no alcohol available, either, but not a big deal for me.  The value is exceptional.  We love this place and will be going back again and again!

stopped by for lunch on more than a few occasions. pretty legit place. everything i've had has been great. no shortage of great mexican food in that area

It's not the prettiest thing around nor is the service remarkable but the people are friendly and serve the best mexican food I've ever had. The beans and rice side are absolutely delightful and the enchiladas suiza is outstanding. Definitely recommend for a nice casual meal at a highly reasonable price! Will return many times.

Seriously delicious.. Hubby and I have driven past this place a few times and were curious. We finally decided to try it and it did not disappoint. Its a tiny little hole in the wall kind of place. The owner and chef reminds me of a grandfather he's so sweet. I asked for no onions cause I hate the texture but he said everything is cooked with onions. I was a little nervous at first but the food did not disappoint. He came out to make sure I enjoyed it and told me he tried to take all th onions that he saw out. My husband and I both agreed that it was the best mexican we have ever had. Some of the other post suggest they use a microwave but I can safely say they didn't with my meal. I never heard a microwave and you have to go through the kitchen to get to the bathroom so you can see them cooking. <br/>I seriously want to go back tomorrow. <br/>For 2 meals and an appitizer it only came to 24$ my husband and left with a full warm belly. Can't wait to go back next date night.

Delicious homemade mexican food absolutely loved it. They have a small menu but I'd say at least 90% of what's on there is unique and delicious, their restaurant reminds me of the type of restaurants they have in South America down to the decor. I really recommend this place its amazing.

What great authentic Mexican food experiance!!!<br/>I know theplace has been around for manny years and now I know why. Owners/servers are nice and very gracious. The bathroom is clean, although in an odd spot. You have to take a couple steps through the service area to go down stairs. It does not detract... I like this place.

Bad Food Wrong Ethnicity. Ate here a year ago and it was fine. There was a Mexican man, his family, and mexican music playing. The food was tasty and fresh about a 8/10 in my estimation.<br/><br/>Now two weeks ago ate here and ordered the same food. Avocado and tomato salad was about 2 romaine lettuce leaves, shredded, with thin slices of about 1/2 avocado and tomato and shredded feta cheese with some lemon. How much? Try $10 for the salad<br/><br/>Then we got tacos different types we could hear the microwave in the back 4-5 times voila dinner was served. From the spices it tasted like authentic but the only person in the restaurant was Asian. I am not sure if he was Chinese but he did not inform us that our dinner was old food microwaved and he charged us full price. It was a $30 bill for old microwaved food and vegetables prepared in salad with no care and attention that were worth less than $1. Horrible food, miserable experience, if I experience something like this again I will refuse to pay and walk out before even attempting to eat anything. What happened to this place?

Great food, great owner. I don't know if laxdude accidentally reviewed the wrong place, but I have personally been coming here for over ten years and it has been under the same ownership and in the same location during that time. The place is about the size of a shoebox, so how it could have previously been a furniture store, I am not sure.<br/>This place has great food at great prices. The first time I ever went there, the owner recommended chilaquiles as a starter and we have ordered them every time since. <br/>There isn't much in the way of atmosphere, but it is worth a visit for the good food and the owner, who is a very nice man who calls everyone 'my friend' and I think he means it!

Good food, poor service, tiny portions. Not sure how this has been someone's favourite place for 15 years when it opened maybe 4 years ago? Maybe they were thinking of the 10 places that preceded it (from Cuban to South American) since it stopped being a used office furniture store.<br/><br/>Anyway, loved the food, didn't like that the menus implied you would get two tacos at what seemed like a fair price, rather than one at an overly inflated price. Got soup that was fine but clearly been microwaved IN the bowl it was served in.<br/><br/>I am just glad they broke the curse - about 3 ( or is it 4) years in where none of the previous 10 had lasted a year.<br/><br/>I mean we are talking tacos. A slow cooked (generally) cheap piece of meat served on a tortilla, not sure why that has to be expensive.

Love this small Mexican place . Been eating here since it first opened...maybe 15 years ago. Food not saturated in cheese and sour cream,daily special is always yummy and owner remembers a face.

It's okay... I'd give it 6 out of 10.<br/>I asked for a burrito to go so I could eat it while driving. It was a wet burrito with a side of so-so beans and rice that looks like it was Chinese and it was dry. Other than that, it tasted good... better than Taco Bell, Taco Del Mar or Taco Time.

Fantastic food! Friendly owner. We tried this restaurant not too long ago and have returned back for more. Our family will definitely be coming here again and again!

Did I go to a different place than those who wrote these other reviews? Bad service, sullen server , food was NOT GOOD: my chile Colorado was super salty, beans tasteless, my son's chicken in thechilaquiles was dry dry dry, food was obviously microwaved, and my husbands food was cold and tasted like something made yesterday. Very disappointing experience, especially because we were charged for my husband's inedible meal. We were so looking forward to a nice authentic Mexican meal, but obviously came to the wrong place. (we r Mexican, so we gave a fairly good idea of authenticity and this was authentically bad food). My husband actually said he would give it "zero out of ten stars". Not going back to this place. Avoid it.

Love the flavour!! Portion sizes could be bigger, but like he said, "It's quality over quantity." I had the mole poblano and loved the flavour of the mole. The chicken was tender, but the skin was soggy (obviously boiled but that's how it's usually made) so I would have preferred it to have been removed before the sauce was poured on top.

Great food, good (not obscene!) serving sizes and an owner that obviously cares. Ask for his hot sauce; it's fabulous.

The Real Deal. Not too many places impress me with their food or business moto, however Ole Ole is an exception. He does it because he loves to cook and see smiles on his customers faces. I know he barely makes a living at it but i hope he continues for years to come.

The Best MEX. I've eater here over 30 times...It is excellent......it is one of the best restaurants that New West has to offer.<br/>Some times I wish it was bigger so they could serve more authentic Mexican dishes but then I think, no they get too busy and loose the home cooked quality. <br/>If you expect snappy service and ambiance or don't like getting your own pop out of the cooler and opening it please stay away so me and my friends can enjoy the great food.

REAL Mexican food. If you want unpretentious home cooked Mexican food then look no further. Prices are LOW and quality is high. Not your typical 5 minute Mexican loaded with melted cheese and gravy. No, this is what you get in Mexico. Simple, tasty and at a price that won't kill you. No beer but you won't miss it. Service is Mexican too... Relaxed and casual but you won't care because the food is so good.

Authentic soup and sandwich and salad. Nothing special ambiance but good food and cheap good for going with wife and kids. $10 eat full.

I was kind of expecting soft tacos but these came out lightly fried.  It was actually pretty good and I enjoyed the slight crispness to the tortillas but I found that the frying process made all of the meat taste very similar.

The man who runs this place is, hands down, one of the most charismatic restauranteurs I have met. I like going in and saying “I’m in the mood for chicken, surprise me” and I get a plate of fresh, authentic food for cheap. I like the tiny little operation
