Review Pho Pho You - New Westminster

There was a time when you could count the number of Vietnamese restaurants in New Westminster on one hand. Well, that’s certainly changed. Take, for instance, Pho Pho You which opened up in late 2016 in the heart of downtown (right along Columbia St). I showed up to this restaurant with the fun-sounding name just after noon on a Monday and it had a pretty steady crowd. It took a while for my order to come out but I suspect that was due to the large party that just placed their order before me. Speaking of my order, I wound up with the Bun Bo Hue ($9.75 + $1 for poached egg). I like that their menu lists out the various additions that you can add to your pho to customize your bowl. When my dish finally arrived, I was presented with a large bowl filled with round and slippery noodles mixed with thinly shaved beef brisket, beef balls, and Vietnamese ham. The beef broth was full of flavour and had a nice spiciness which helped to ward away the cold weather. I thought they did a pretty good job here with the addition of crunchy red cabbage so I decided to come back to try some of their other dishes. On my next visit, I ordered the Grilled Lemongrass Chicken and Spring Roll with Veggies and Vermicelli ($11.45). Just like my last visit, this restaurant was fairly packed during my visit but my food came out within 10-15 mins. The spring roll had a crisp flour wrapper (personally, I prefer rice wrappers) and the bowl was rather large. Overall, it was an okay dish but nothing that stood out. I came back for one last revisit to try their Com Ga Chien ($10.95) or Crispy Fried Chicken with House Special Sauce. The boneless chicken cutlet was topped with a thick and teriyaki-style sauce that was a bit too sweet for my preferences. The thing that I did notice was the lack of napkins at the table. Might be a good idea to bring your own napkins if you plan to visit here.

I have visited at the “Pho Pho You” several times. It is a small restaurant just beside to the Columbia Skytrain Station in New Westminster. The food is good (just the beef seems to be from lower quality). The price is in the medium level. The interior is a mix of Canadian and Asian items. The music is gentle and not too loud. Most of the servers are attentive and friendly. It is certainly not a mistake eating there. If one wants to visit there with a group of more than 4 people, one should book in advance. 3.5 out of 5

Delicious Pho restaurant in downtown New West. They're always friendly and speedy. You can even order to go which is always nice. They also have a little patio out front where you can eat and watch the goings on. When it comes to the Pho they don't have a chicken option, only beef - just something to note.

Y'know what, it's hard to find a good pho restaurant in New West. They have a big wall mural that says: "Our goal is to serve you healthy nutritious food with a friendly manner" when you walk in so they set the bars pretty high even before getting our food. The service was good and food came out in a timely manner. The spring rolls were crispy and not overcooked, but the middle was not as hot as I would have liked it. Their noodle bowl portions are generous and came out hot (temperature) which was perfect for the downpour outside. Noodles were cooked well and their meat was higher in quality than the norm. I'll have to come back and try their rice dishes next time. The young waiter (it might be their son) hustled... He was amazing and I saw him constantly doing something (topping off tea, refilling the sauces, restocking and running the POS). Hard worker, make sure you tip him well

I remember when this place was at burquitlam station, at the time i wasn't exactly happy with this place and would have rated it much lower. After this last visit in their new location near Columbia I was pleasantly surprised. I ordered the pho with brisket and beef balls, the broth was good and the pho tasted good. Overall i was pretty happy with their food, the portions were quite generous as well. I would recommend this place, but not the best pho place in town, but definitely better than the two pho places Co Chau and Saigon ivy in uptown.

Moving into the area soon so we scouted for good vietnamese food...and we found it! This local shop does food well and has some specialty items that we can't wait to try. We thoroughly enjoyed our noodle bowl and salad rolls 😍 ...so much so that I've been 3 times in the last month. Pro to for spicy food lovers- add the chili oil to your peanut sauce!

We got the chicken pho and unfortunately the broth was just warm not nice and hot how we usually get it at other places. Green tea was lukewarm as well but the waitress was very nice and accommodating. Vietnamese coffee was great!

Good service. Reasonable prices. The salad rolls were good. I will have to come back and try the pho noodle soup next time.
