Review Kirin Seafood Restaurant - New Westminster

B Jams
Pardon my half eaten dishes LOL we were all so hungry. Dim sum was decent and we were satisfied. Service was a little bit unusual especially if you don't speak Chinese...but overall friendly. Prices were a bit high for some of the portion sizes and the menu items are a bit different than typical dim sum places. Food: 7/10 Experience: 7/10 Service: 6/10 Value: 5/10

I brought a couple of out of town friends here based on a friend’s recommendation. If you’re looking for the same old, same old dim sum dishes, you won’t find it here. Our hopes were set high for the sesame seed deep fried balls and the deep fried ‘footballs’, and were majorly disappointed. The prices were reasonable based on the quality. The dim sum menu had 50 items which is small compared to many other dim sum places. Our favourites were Deep Fried Halibut in Premium Soy Sauce; Steamed Scallop & Pureed Truffle Rice Roll; Steamed Prawn, Pork, & Enoki Mushroom Bean Curd Roll; Pork & Chinese Mushroom Pastry topped w/Abalone; Egg Custard Tart & Deep Fried Egg Chip w/syrup. Checkout the photos as you’ll be drooling. Everything was tasty. Service was good and efficient. The server was good in making suggestions. A good selection of ramen, fried rice, and noodle dishes which we passed on. There’s plenty of free parking near the restaurant. Only steps away from the Starlight Casino. We were able to make reservations. Nice ambience.

Always have great experience in this place! Ken, and Chad are great servers! We live nearby and we often visit this local restaurant. Their food quality is top notched. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Top notch Chinese food. Came here for a Chinese banquet and everything tasted amazing and perfectly made! Service was highly professional and food quality was wow. Classy Chinese food experience.

As of this date, hands down the best overall Chinese restaurant. I drive to Vancouver BC from Seattle often to just eat here. Amazing value and quality. Come here for both dimsum and dinner.

Good place to have a wedding reception. Ton of seafood options like lobster and deep fried crab claw. I couldn’t give 5 star because the food was above average but nothing special. The staff was friendly and accommodating. It’s also next the starlight casino.

Really nice place for family or friends gathering , place is spacious , we eat Dianxin here, taste good, service waiter always checked at our table. Will recommend my friends here in the future.

The food and service here was so good! We got this ten course meal and the dishes were all really good! Especially loved the fish/congee, crispy pork, noodles, and desserts. Also really liked the interiors which looked very grand, and had a palace feel. The restaurant is a bit tricky to find because it is located beside a casino.

This location is the newest of the few. Located at Starlight Casino in New Westminster there is ample parking.

Service here has been pretty good consistently, beyond the service you get anywhere else. They are quick at refilling your teapots and are always clearing off empty dishes. They also don't kick you out like most restaurants after you pay your bill.

Dim sum is pretty good here. They add a twist to your typical popular dishes and they also have some more creative dishes as well that other restaurants don't serve. Food is usually hot from the steamer/fryer.

Prices are above average but worth it for the quality and service.

After a disappointing experience and the last Kirin, my family was willing to try somewhere new, yet not stray from the restaurant chain that they like. So we found ourselves travelling all the way to New Westminster for this location of Kirin, within the “Starlight Casino”; instead of their downtown or Cambie street one, that is actually much more convenient for us.

Went for birthday dinner with friends. The quality of their food has became better than the main branch in Richmond. Especially loved the special grilled chicken. The meat was juicy and tasty.

Kirin Seafood Restaurant used to be one of the best Chinese Restaurants in Metro Vancouver, but definitely not anymore.

Highly recommend make reservation before you go on the weekend or holidays.

Services were bad. We felt they were busy socialise with their regular/VIP customers. We don't feel we got the same attention as those.

We tried Free Range Chicken with Black Fungus and Dried Daylily on Steamed Flat Rice Noodle and Deep Fried Coconut Cream Bun. Food was so-so, but not the same taste as we tried before.

A bit disappointed!

Food: 3.5/5
Services: 2.5/5

Despite the price ofthe food, it is worth it! Never said chinese dim sum better anywhere else! My favourite will have to be the lotus leaf sticky rice and rice noodle from this place ! I would recommend anyone to go here if they want to drive 10 minutes out of Rochmind for delicious dim sum.

We were at Kirin at Starlight Casino, and it was just about the best Chinese food I’ve ever had (maybe it was the wine too). Above is the abalone we sampled that night, and it tasted as good as it looked. Just the right amount of savouriness, perfect chewy texture. I don’t know about other Kirin’s, but this one was impressive.
Ah
Kirin is an elevated cantonese seafood resturaunt. The New West location is beautiful inside, the detail to the decor and ambiance is so upscale.Gives a different feel to normal "cantoese seafood" establishments. The location screams fine dining/classy- totally a place to host chinese weddings!!
We tried coming on a thursday night, arriving at prime dinner time at 6pm- it was totally packed. This visit though, on tuesday we were sure to make a reservation.
Getting there at 5pm, we were the only ones there- YAY! Service from start to finish was very attentive. Servers were well acquainted with the menu and were all able to make recommendations. Through out he whole dining experience - servers were ontop of all empty cups and plates. They even help you put the napkin on your lap if needed. omg.
There was one man who I believe was a manager who went above and beyond for service entirely. Friendly and funny definitley left a very good impression!

Food is on the pricier side- but all was well presented. My favorite was the appetizer dish.
Deep Fried Shrimp with a sticky gingery glaze - soooo good,
Table favorite was the peas stire fried with garlic and onions. Crisp veggies with a strong aroma of garlic.
Complimentary desser was SO GOOD. The sweetened soup which was served cold, which i believe was mango.. WAS SOOO GOOD. We were all pretty full, but even then- it was a really great end to the service. If anything - just come for the dessert. So worth it.

The atmosphere and ambiance is very different to standard chinese resturants. Staff are very attentive, and food isn't drenched in oil. Kirin is a place I'd definitley think of coming back again, food was delicious. Resturaunt is beautiful, something you don't see very much in Edmonton.
I totally recommend!
During my short trip to Vancouver, dim sum was near the top of my must eats list. I reached out to a few Vancouver bloggers, and the consensus was to visit a location of Kirin Seafood, that was known to be a good balance between quality and price. My friends and I were able to squeeze in two dim sum meals over the weekend, with Kirin Seafood being the most memorable.

Great ambience. Great staff. Food came out promptly and was great, especially the seafood dishes. Tends to get busy so make reservations. Can't wait to come back.

went here for a new year's dinner, and there were okay amount of people, as usual kirin is one of the higher end of chinese food within the town, but as usual the items that i usually order are the regular ones too over here... i didn't doubt their cooking will be bad or the taste will be off, but the price range is definitely out of my reach. :) and so started with hot and sour soup. definitely good, can taste the sourness that is just right from the soup along with the ingredients's subtle sweetness bring good pairing with the soup. then have deep fried shrimps, mapo tofu, beef with veggies, chicken with cashews, everything went pretty well, no doubt about it. as usual kirin does bring the high standard as well.

After the horrid clusterf*** that we had at Top Shanghai Cuisine, we felt we needed to redo dim sum so we headed over to Kirin Seafood at Starlight Casino.

Honestly, things didn’t start out well here either. First off, they gave us the wrong menu (with no dim sum on it)… we thought… WTF??? We came all the way here for dim sum and they weren’t serving dim sum?!?! After a rather long wait to flag someone down, we thankfully managed to get a dim sum menu and were on our way.

I love how the tables aren’t too cramped here. For some reason, it took a rather long while for our food to come out… so when it did start to arrive, we gobbled things down really quickly. First up was the BBQ Pork Buns which were pillowy soft.

That was followed by the Chinese Donut Rice Roll topped with pork floss. This has a nice textural contrast from the silky smooth rice roll to the crunchy Chinese donut on the inside.

Dessert came next with a very subtle Pineapple Jelly.

The steamed pork and prawn Siu Mai was a pretty good dumpling dish.

Steamed Beef Balls with water chestnuts.

Sticky Rice wrapped in lotus leaves.

As it was, the service here did improve as our meal progressed. But it was way better than at Top Shanghai.

My nephew, Little Batman, just turned 100 days old this past weekend. And since he’s half Chinese, this meant that my sister-in-law’s family threw a giant dinner to celebrate. In Chinese culture, a celebration is held the day the baby is a hundred days old as a representation of the wish that the baby lives another hundred years. Or at least this is what the internet tells me. Either way, it was an opportunity for those more distant family members who hadn’t yet had a chance to meet the little guy to….well…meet the little guy. Needless to say, with about 80 people in attendance, Little Batman was overwhelmed by the event. But he took it like a champ, and by the end was asleep on his grandma’s shoulder.

Kirin is always busy. If you decide to walk in, don't bother. Each time I visit I always make a reservation to come eat here. Their dim sum is prime quality and is easily the same price as Calgary. You get good service and great selection.

October 5, 2015 · by ThatShanghaiGirl · “Asian brunch” = Dimsum, and it’s pretty much better than regular brunch. I’ve been going to Kirin a lot lately for dimsum, they’re food is solid and fairly priced. The Starlight location is newer but everything else is pretty much the same.

I'm asian and I love this fruit called, durian. Some say it's the sewer of fruits but I do agree with it's nickname, the king of fruits.

This is the only restaurant that serves durian mochi. If you don't know what durian is and you are not a fan of exotic fruits, then you may not like it. It's an acquired taste so be warned.

If you are a die hard fan like me for durian (I can host durian parties if anyone is interested) then you will love this place.

pro tip: It sells out before noon on weekends. and if you are not into durian and sometimes you're having dim sum but you smell this strange..sewer/garbage like smell, it's probably durian but trust me if you do try it you will love it :) Or not!

Kirin Starlight is our families go to place for Dim Sum. Since we live in Burnaby, it’s convenient for us to drive to on the weekend. They have several other locations throughout the Lower Mainland. It gets pretty packed around noon, so make sure you have a reservation or else you might be waiting around 30 mins – 1 hour for a table.

Weekend dim sum with the parents usually ends up at Kirin Starlight. It's close to home and we're usually not disappointed. Its our go to place.
We always try to make reservations ahead of time so we aren't stuck in line waiting for too long. The food is pretty good, but the service can always be better.

I usually come by to this restaurant for dim sum, however every time I come....it's never a good experience with customer service. I know it gets busy and hectic during these hours, but receiving bad manner is not what it should be fair. What I mean are:
- following up on our food and making excuses that it was order 15min ago
- asking to order, they saw us, nod and walk away to have their chit chat
-ask the Manger for the bill and he ask us to get someone else
3/4 people that helped our table...1 guy gave a good manner and attitude which I truly appreciate.
Overall this management needs adjustments and improvement for better future customer service.

Terrible. Horrible reservation system. I walked in (no reservation) for dim sum. They said 45 mins. End up, an hour 20 mins to get my seat. Really really upset !!!!

K.I.R.I.N - Kirin Is Rude, Insulting, Nauseating. I visited the restaurant on Sept 20, 2014 with 4 other friends.
7:00pm - we arrived
715pm - first order made (6 dish)
7:25pm - a second follow up order (1 dish)
7:45pm - Our second order came before our first order. We asked for follow up at the same time on the first order and was told he will check and it "should be coming".
8:00pm - a staff came up and told us our Peking Duck that we ordered at 715pm was not available anymore. And asked us to change our order. No apologies. He then questioned us why we did not made a reservation for the peking duck before coming.
8:15pm - we collectively decided to leave without waiting for the rest of the order since its been over an hour. The staff demanded that we pay for the one dish that came (we ordered 7 in total). we said No, we are not paying.
8:20pm- staff went for manager, manager told us no need to pay. and was "shoooo" away, like a unwanted dog or cat in your lawn. His right hand actually waved us off, the body language was "get out of here". once again, no apologies.

ISSUES:
1. took them 45min to come back to us to tell us our dish was not available.
2. putting the blame on the customer, for not making a reservation on the peking duck. This could have been a great point, but I called ahead to ask if we need to order ahead and was told NO. The menu also does not say pre-order required, whereas another dish below the peking duck did mention pre-order required.
3. Staff did not once apologize or try to repair the situation, instead, their answer to the situation was: "What do you want me to do?" When I told them what they can do, offer discount or give me something, their reply was no.
4. Management did not take the opportunity to repair customer satisfaction. Instead, waved away the customers, me, as if I am unwelcome. Or a piece of trash in your driveway. And once again, no apologies.

KIRIN is a brand, and this location is destroying the reputation of this awesome brand that I usually recommend to my friends and to people from out of town. It is famous for being a high-end Chinese restaurant, for its choice of food, for the atmosphere, etc. The customer service however, seems like something I would get from a self-serve gas station. (Meaning NONE)

This is a restaurant that you can go, but if something goes wrong, do not expect the staff to fix it. You can have certain expectations if you go to the KEG, Joe Fortes Seafood restaurant, or other high end location, just keep your customer service expectations in check. And keep in mind it may have the name "KIRIN" on the name, but it is nothing like it.

The food is great, nothing wrong with that. The one dish I ate was delicious, but when I left, all I tasted was bitterness and sourness. This is why I didnt type this review at the day of my experience, I wanna be calm, and have an opinion not skewed by my emotions.

Reputation deserved.... This high end Chinese seafood restaurant is as good as they say: delectably good food, very nice decor, attentive service but comes at a higher price point for sure. Great place to bring someone to impress. A little difficult to get to in Queensborough, so google map before heading out.
Spoonmaster
Not impressed. We ordered the usual dishes for dim sum including ha gao, spring rolls, radish cakes, tsa lian, crab dumpling in soup and the geoduck congee. The congee is such an underwhelming value in that for $20 you get 8 pieces of thinly sliced geoduck and a few bits of dried scallops. Food tastes OK, but for $58 for two OK does not cut it.

Family and the in-laws went there for Chinese New Year Eve dinner. Ordered a set menu for 8 people. Before we all sat down, the manager already asked us if the food can be started up. We were not impressed. When the started to come. They almost all came at once. We had plates of food stacked on top of each other. We were not impressed again. Kirin is not a cheap everyday congee/noodle joint. They are high class expensive place and yet they treat their guests like that??? NOT IMPRESS!!!

Not as good as before. This place has gone downhill since the last few times I went. Most of the dim sum were salty and the dessert tasted bad comparing with their other locations. I went to dinner as well over the weekend. It took ages to serve the food and the lobsters were tasteless, cold and overcooked. We didn't like any of the dishes we ordered. Since this place is closest to my home, I guess I will continue to give them another try. REally hope one day they would be back on track~

My family comes here for dimsum abt every month. Lots of dishes are good here, but I always make sure to order their salted-egg-yolk bun and if u love durian... Omg, durian Mochi soooo good.

A bit disappointed Went.... A bit disappointed

Went to dinner again. Tried a lar carte this time. Veges dish was too small for $20+. The fish was extremely salty. The jumbo shrimpss plate, omg, all the shrimps were not deveined. Yike! !

-----06 Aug, 2013-----

Dinner Experience. Went there for Dim Sum lunches a few times. This time I would like to try their dinner menu.

Ordered a set dinner for 4 + 1 vege dish.

Thought this was quite a 'Fine Dining' Chinese Restaurant, felt a bit surprised to see some dirts on a teacup & a spoon...

Food was ok except finding some 'black stuff' on the veges. The manager said the dirt probably was from the wok. Shouldn't they wash the wok a bit thoroughly?

The best part of the dinner was the dessert.

Overall comment - I would expect a cleaner environment for the price I paid here.

Dim Sum on Mother's Day. Since it was a special occasion the place was pretty busy and needed reservations well in advance.

Service was fine and attentive though there was one problem of our order where a dim sum didn't come but they took it off the final total.

Dim sum was for the most part pretty standard fare with more pleasing presentation and tasted good.

Mouth watering Chinese goodness (BEST IN CANADA). Best dim sum you'll find in Canada. Friendly staff and great food is what draws people in. Just be sure to make reservations in early in advance. XO SAUCE is to die for (not to mention free and unlimited) and the food is absolutely delicious. The egg tarts are to die for.
My favorites are:
-chicken steamed bun
-BBQ pork steamed bun
-shrimp dumpling (har-gow)
-pork/shrimp dumpling (seew-my)
-mini egg tarts (Dan tat) often run out later in the day
-rice noodle (ch-oung-fun) wrapped Chinese doughnut
-sticky rice (low-Mai-gai)
-Shrimp/crab/pea tip spring roll (seasonal)
-XO sauce (x-o-jer-nnngg) and tons of it (its free)

Dim Sum. Dim sum was not as good as expected compare to the other Kirin location in Richmond. We ordered more than 10 different dim sum but some of them didn't get steam up thoroughly....which is kind of disappointing. Great place, reservation recommended.

Been here for dim sum as well as for a friend's winter wedding. good dim sum here in a spacious environment. recommended.

Kirin SF restaurant. Loved:
-interior. Clean and modern
-prawn Chinese ham & baby bok Chow steamed dumplings. Super tasty and great texture. Well seasoned
-scallop prawn sharks fin steamed dumplings. Another yummy dish
-deep fried tofu. Always order this one. Garlicky deliciousness.
Liked:
-xo sauce
Ok:
-deep fried taro thing. Yummy but a bit bland and heart clogging. This dish came out barely lukewarm
-steamed prawn and fish maw dumplings. Flavorful and beautifully presented but unfortunately, I ordered this without knowing what fish maw was and ended up spitting it out. I really like the prawn part but fish maw (which I googled later and found out was a fish' swim bladder wth) has a disgusting fatty texture imho. but if you like fish maw, i would still recommend this dish bc the flavor was good
-pan fried radish cake. Good flavor but so oily and heavy
-prawn and tender scallion rice roll. Ok bc I like all rice rolls but really disappointing tastewise. Boring
Disliked:
-crap service. I know it was busy but to ask 6 times for 1 more xo sauce and still not get it?? One of the waitresses even rudely brushed us off. I was starting to wonder if this service was bc we aren't Chinese. The ONLY requests that were filled was (a)taking our order and (b)giving us our bill (lightening fast, I might add)
Would I come back?
-the poor poor service really put a damper on our meal but I would come back for the delicious steamed dumplings. Hopefully, the service will improve.

They make the best egg tarts in the lower mainland! OMG so rich and nummy.

I come here very often with my parents and it is always good. The food there is usually good and made very well. Other places just don't have the same chefs that do the same things as they do. The place is a bit expensive, but most of the other places are cheap, but lacks good food

Overpriced dimsum. not even yummy. I'm not impressed. I'm from Toronto and our dimsum is way better and not as overpriced and if it's overpriced. well it is rightly so due to taste and quality of workmanship in the dimsum. We ordered this seafood congee something. there was barely any seafood in it. Terrible. I am unimpressed.
Anne Ikeda Lin
Great dimsum that surprisingly doesn't cost an arm and a leg. Kirin is usually pretty expensive for dinner, but their dimsum is not too bad. When I go with a group of 6-8 people we usually pay around $15pp.

I really like that the service here is professional and efficient. I'm pretty sure they change up the dimsum menu regularly so there are new items to try. Since we go for dimsum quite a bit, I really appreciate not having to eat the same old items every time. They have this one dessert that's great- IF you like durian. It's got durian with whipped cream wrapped inside mochi.

Oh, one more thing, don't forget to make reservations on the weekend!

Good food but expencive... Can get the same quality at a lower price if u know where to go... But overall very tasty... To old school for me though.. I'm to young for this place

We went to Kirin for some morning dim sum! Kirin has a few locations, one in Richmond, on Cambie, and this location, in New Westminster! This Kirin is actually located beside Starlight Casino. My grandma actually wanted to try her luck at it, but our plans were diverted when I was denied admittance because I'm still underage haha! Pretty snazzy looking waiting area huh? ;) Oh I like those chairs! Duck Feet 3/5 stars I didn't know my dad ordered two kinds of feet...wait, that came out wrong haha! Turns out he ordered both duck feet and chicken feet (because it was on special!) Compared to the chicken feet, these were much firmer, and were much harder to chew haha. The sauce was different too! This sauce was sweeter, and had a thicker consistency. Scallops & Mushroom Rice Roll 4/5 stars This was delish! The rice roll was just the right consistency, soft, without being slimy. There was an ample

Kirin Restaurant is a Chinese restaurant with a few locations in Metro Vancouver. This one in particular is located in Downtown Vancouver. It’s a elegant looking restaurant with plenty of seating an nice decor. It offers dim sum during brunch hours and have a lunch and dinner menus as well as set menu items.
Long Live Feasts
The interior here is definitely better furnished and well-kept than their central Richmond location, but that is it. The food served here definitely doesn’t match in standard compared to the other joints of this chain, usually just barely passing as mediocre. The service and ambiance here is also very lacklustre and you can evidently tell by reading their expressions and body language that most of the managers and workers aren’t interested in being there. I don’t see myself returning to this branch anytime soon not only because of the distance it is from where I live, but because I know their other Richmond location serves up more consistent dishes.

Where do Chinese atheists spend Easter Sunday brunch? Why, at Kirin, of course. It was Easter Sunday and our good family friends happened to be in town. We met them and another family we all know at Kirin’s newest location in New Westminster, by Starlight Casino (where we went after brunch and won $25 off 5 cents!). I have been here before, but not recently. You can see my post here on the Richmond Kirin. Located right off the highway on Gifford St. It’s literally a few hundred meters next to Starlight Casino. There’s also a Walmart nearby! And it’s only a 20 minute drive out from Richmond. When you enter the restaurant, you are greeted by the maître d’ and you are led to this sophisticated waiting area while your table is prepped for you. How many Chinese restaurants do you know of that have a waiting area fully furnished in designer furniture? There were also at least 4 TVs, all on sport channels. Thumbs up, Kirin. There is also a bar area. You can’t eat at the bar but it’s there. Th

To celebrate Father’s Day, we dined at Kirin Restaurant. Originally planning to just go to the one in Richmond, they were fully booked and thus, we had to settle for New Westminster. We would have preferred lunch to dinner, but due to a most exciting yet exhausting horse show, dinner was our only option. Poor Dad had to be the photographer and wake up early. Technically, he should not have to work and it should be the other way around with me spoiling him for the day, but he makes such a good ‘horse show dad!’ Since we were not very familiar

...lamb chops at Kirin we’re pretty damn well cooked. They were soft and tender, one of the few times I can say the cliche line “The meat just melted in my mouth”, and mean it. The meat just slid right off the bone there. Price wise, it was approximately fifty dollars? I’m not sure cause I went with my family so you know…parents paid…hahaha…which works well for me since my money goes to my education…and various other things like anime and video games, but I assure yo

Chicken Feet Steamed with Black Bean Sauce This is the dish most people ask me about how it tastes, which is usually followed by a statement by how disgusting it must be. Why ask if you've already made up your mind? Well, here's the 411. It's just skin and tendon in a delicious sauce and it's a texture thing so for you all you peeps who don't like the softer foods, then you might want to stay away from this one.

Kirin Seafood Restaurant 麒麟海鮮酒家 in Starlight Casino in New Westminster (or better known as 星光麒麟) is an excellent venue for wedding and banquets. The parking is plentiful, the space is open and the location is centralized for guests in Vancouver and in the suburbs. I’m a fan of Kirin for many years, mainly when they had their Coquitlam location (too bad it is now closed). Their quality and price point are fair.

Although I’ve never been here for dinner, the dim sum at Kirin is a solid bet!

We ordered the famous fish paste and bean curd rice roll as we had a very good experience last time. Indeed, this time, it was just as good -- with a perfectly crispy bean curd roll and springy fish paste. A winner every time. We also ordered a deep-fried fish paste and chive dish. Turns out this is pretty similar to the rice rolls, and it was a bit redundant and not as good. I would've gone with another plate of rice rolls instead.

We don’t make it down to Queensborough Landing anymore due to all the traffic congestion down there but we found ourselves doing some xmas shopping around the area in late November and wound up looking for some eats at Kirin Seafood Restaurant at the casino.

Kirin is one of the classier joints for dim sum. This location had large tables with plenty of space between the tables (unlike many of the sardine-crammed dim sum restaurants that really try to pack people in). The prices are a little more expensive than other restaurants but you usually get what you pay for.

I hadn't been to any Kirin location other than the Richmond one, so I thought it would be a good idea to try dim sum at the Starlight Casino location. I've passed by a few times and checked out the restaurant prior to this visit and noticed the place had the nicest decor with a small garden patio and a large comfortable waiting area. Elegant lanterns and flowing fountains lined the long corridor leading to the seating area. When I arrived shortly after noon on Sunday, there was a swarm of people at the entrance waiting to be seated. Luckily I had a reservation, and we were quickly led to a table in one of the rooms in the back. The black sesame roll (香æ»'芝麻卷) ($4.28) came a few minutes after we had placed our orders. Although for dim sum there's usually no specific order the dishes come in, it still really bugs me when the dessert comes at the very beginning. And this black sesame roll is possibly the worst I've ever had. I've made this at home before with store-b

Kirin has another location at Starlight Casino near New Westminster. They have 4 locations in total. They serve dim sum on the weekends before 2pm. It’s a beautiful space and it can get pretty busy around 10:30am. This time, we went around noon on a cold weekend and there were no lines at all. If there is a line up, you would wait in this waiting area, but it’s quite nice. The main dining area is very large and they also have a private VIP area for small groups. You will be asked what type of tea you would like and I usually get a Jasmine or Oolong. Aloe Vera Jelly came complimentary as they were doing a promotion with Eastern Airlines. I’m not really sure what the connection was, but yeah for free things.
FOOD FOR BUDDHA
The Deep Fried Crispy Tofu 脆皮金沙豆腐 had a very crispy outer texture, but that was pretty much it.

My sister's family is visiting from HK and against her objections, we managed to convince her to try one of our favourite dim sum places, the Kirin at Starlight. Their dim sum here has always been a little bit more special than your run of the mill places

Kirin seems to always be busy when we want to grab lunch there, which isn't surprising with their dim sum and all. While we waited for a table we walked around their mini garden. The fact that they even have one says something, hm. It really was a beautif

For this year’s Chinese Restaurant Awards, Kirin didn’t win any Critics Choice awards again, but they did win the Diners’ Choice award for

It’s consistently named “Best Formal Chinese Restaurant” and this New West location is supposed to be their best one.

This is the fine-dining Chinese restaurant in Vancouver. It’s a common place for dim sum, dinners for large groups and special occasions. I’ve been here on several occasions, but more often than not it’s for weddings, banquets and special occasions. Like
