Review Piva Modern Italian - New Westminster

Fine dining in New Westminster. We went here for Valentines Day. The whole experience was amazing from the ambience to the delicious food and attentive service. They have a great cocktail menu with some new takes on familiar drinks. They also make a proper Old Fashioned with the smoked glass and everything. We went for dinner and ordered steak/prawns, and we were still talking about it this past week, it was that good. I would also recommend trying the duck or any of their pasta entrées. I still have to try their dessert, as every time we have been here, we fill up on appetizers and dinner and have no room left over. They also have a brunch menu that you should try. When they open up the patio on the outside in the summer, it's one of the best times to go!

Had a great experience here for dinner, the food and service were exceptional. Every dish was delicious and the portions are generous. The service can be a little on the slow side, but the time will pass quickly thanks to the great wine and cocktail range. It can be a bit loud at times, but it gives the place a fun, lively vibe. This is a great place for a dinner date, a night out or a special occassion, but not a place to take kids. I'll be revisiting in the future, if only to try more items from the menu!

Decided to come here after proposing to my companion and we had the most delightful night to end the day thanks to the amazing food at Piva. Everything we ordered was delicious, the music wasn't loud and disruptive, and we were taken good care of by the staff. All these factors contributed to an unforgettable dining experience that we will look back on fondly. We ordered: Warm olives - would recommend, long lasting delicious appetizer. Butternut Squash Soup - a smooth and tasty delight to savour and enjoy. Gnocchi - A hearty meal which just screamed comfort food for us. We loved it. Duck & Fig Pizza - we don't eat pork so we asked if we could replace one of the meats and opted to get extra duck. It was simply divine. What an amazing amalgamation of flavours in our mouths. 10/10, would recommend. Everyone needs to try this place out.

Nice restaurant in New Westminster with great tasting food. Loved the crab cakes, a bit on the pricey side but paying for what you get. Ordered pasta dishes for our mains which were amazing! Desserts were also delicious! Would recommend coming to Piva for a nice night out.

It’s a great place for gathering with friends. Food is good but not top notch. Good enough for its price and vibe. Service is just ok. We were a party of 3 with a reservation made 5 days in advance, for 2.30pm on a Saturday when the peak was over. But still we were seated at a small table to start with. Way too small for all the dishes and drinks we ordered. At the end we had to request to switch to a bigger table. Attention and care for customers are lacking. It’s really the small things that make you stand out!

I can’t believe I’ve never been here, and I’ve driven past it so many times! Such amazing, well thought out decor, amazing lighting, and DELICIOUS food! The Brussels sprouts are a must—the crispiest and most flavourful I’ve ever had! The pastas were all amazing, and our server Iain was so accommodating and friendly :) will definitely come back again, there’s so much to try! If you’re with a small group/family, ask about their “Family Style” dining experience!

This was an amazing place to go for dinner. The wild boar appitzers were fantastic and the rustic Italian pizza was amazing! Also had probably the best smokey whiskey of my entire life. So smooth. Daniel was our server and he was the MVP. Honestly, one of the most proficient servers I've ever had. Never had to ask for anything, he was there! All around, this is the place you got to go if you like Italian!

Lively atmosphere, moderate lighting for ambience. Love the decor and spaciousness. Service: promptly seated with reso, attentive staff, able to provide recommendations and daily specials with ease, frequently check on without being bothersome. Food: healthy portions, well balanced, delicious. Would recommend and have actually been here a few times.

Just celebrated my DILs birthday. I can say we will definitely be back and will recommend this place to everyone! First the service was wonderful! Attentive but not unbearably so. Not by just our server but every single person we spoke with. From our appetizers and drinks down to dessert, everyone in our party of four loved their food. Including my son who ordered blue steak. He is hard to please when he orders this as other places never seem to cook it right. He said it was the very best he has ever had! They even gave us a glass each of moscato to go with dessert! I cannot recommend this place enough and we can’t wait to go back again! Thank you for a fantastic experience!!

Loved loved loved our dining experience today! Each dish was well thought out and tasted wonderful! Enjoyed fine dining so close to our home with a separate vegan menu! Portion sizes were perfect! The gnocchi was fluffy and delicious with the lightly lemoned grilled veg. Our Focaccia tasted slightly off but our server was happy to replace it! Our 1 year old daughter was so happy with each dish but was over the moon with eggplant appetizer! Can’t wait to try more of the menu! Hoping for more dessert options in the future. I only had their item for the happy hour menu which was mushroom pizza and their in-house brew. Pizza was tasty and crust was good. The beer was crisp an served ice-cold! .. will come back to try other items on the menu and will recommend to friends!

Garth and I went to Piva last night (January 21, 2018) for my birthday dinner and we highly recommend it! We were greeted and seated right after we took a walk by the 'open' kitchen to say hello to the Executive Chef, Sube Abdullah. You must try one or more of their unique and delicious cocktails. Btw...they know how to make a very dry Tanqueray Martini; just the way I like it! They also have a nice wine list and I love the support of BC wines (including Kamloops wines). Have I said I love BC wines? Well, I do! Yes, I ordered a bottle. As for the food, well, it was superb. For starters we had the Meatballs (wild boar) and Arancini (risotto balls), we shared a Caesar Salad, Crispy cauliflower parmigiano and Brussel Sprouts pancetta. Garth had the Linguine and I had the Gnocchi. For dessert we had the Chocolate Cake and the Tiramisu Sundae. What a night! Our server Casey was awesome as well as the gentleman that came to our table a few times. I could see he greeted and checked on many throughout the night. Nice personal touch indeed. We love the decor and layout of Piva. So open and fresh. We cannot wait to go back and try a few other dishes and drinks. I can also see that this will be the place to go during the summer.

Had dinner at Piva last night for the first time. The manager on duty was so welcoming, gave us hugs after a little joke I made when we entered. Alex B our server was phenomenal. As vegetarians we were very happy with the selection of actually thought out veggie dishes. Perfect portion sizes, super fast kitchen & great atmosphere. We will definitely be back.

Loved it, nice section of dishes to choose from. Had crab cakes to start, Great homemade gluten free pasta which was a treat. the sortba was just perfect for desert. Time flew by, the staff, food, and the buzzing was electric. Plan on going back again. I felt like I was in a totally different City like New York where you really didn't know who would walk in and just blend in. Very new and fresh. Cant wait to go back again and try something else.

The food was excellent. Loved the starter's and the main but the vanilla gelato was to die for!! The server was very professional and fabulous.

I have nothing but positive things to say about the food, the service and the beverage selection. Why I docked them a star is because I feel that the wine by the glass or half-litre prices are absurd. To pay $18 per 9 oz glass might be ok to go with their lamb chop but an $8 glass of Sangiovese to go with the meatballs wpuld be very welcome.

A beautiful place with exceptional serving staff, and the wild boar meatballs were phenomenal. We made reservations for my birthday and ended up leaving after appies & a drink because it was so incredibly loud & crowded. We were at the tiniest table & it was so close to the adjacent tables I could hear the people beside me more than I could my date. It was a bit disappointing but I might try some other night.

Terrific meal in all respects. The fried eggplant appetizer, the pan fried cod ‘bagna cauda’ and dessert ‘for nonna ‘ all very well executed.

Amazing restaurant! The atmosphere is great.., the food phenomenal, staff are friendly, and it’s great to see owner(s) tho take pride in their restaurant as well as making sue to greet regular customers... thanks for being this to New Westminster!!!

Friends and i just came for some drinks and dessert because the place looked nice and we ended up having a great time. It's pretty rare that I actually like a restaurant because I'm pretty picky (which my friend told everyone several times during us being here). The drinks were really good and my friends loved the desserts. The staff was really nice and fun and it was just an all around good environment to be in. We definitely are planning on coming back to have dinner sometime because the food looked delicious.

Piva is absolutely incredible! From the moment we walked in until we stepped out, the service was fantastic. We came in for our anniversary today and we could not be happier. The appetizers were delectable, and drinks were unique and delicious. About half way through our entrees the waitress/manager came over and apologized for a small, almost unnoticeable mistake in one of our entrees. They went above and beyond to ensure a wonderful experience for us. I cannot say enough good about this restaurant. When we find ourselves in New Westminster again we will certainly be stopping by. Thank you for providing such a lovely experience for us!

Many thanks to the superb staff at Piva for the lunch party of 15 people yesterday afternoon. The restaurant is beautifully spacious which allowed our party to be comfortable without bothering other patrons. Our server, Angela was attentive, friendly and attended to all of our needs. Everyone in our group raved about the quality, taste and ample portions of their meals. All meals were outstanding. Truly a gem and I look forward to my return.
