I absolutely love this restaurant! The owners are great. The staff is great and they have the best Greek food around!
Loved the belly dancer and it had a great view of the river. The food was really good.
Great night with a dear friend.
Absolutely delicious food and the staff were amazing! Would recommend to everyone!
great food, excellent service. great waitress. But wait.....the view of the Fraser River is outstanding!
Great food and atmosphere! The view and art on the walls is second to none! Eleni and Koula are great hosts.
It's our families go to place.Great veiw, awesome service from a friendly staff and the food is always yummy.
Lunch Platter #2 (for 2) $25.50
這份雙人拼盤套餐的主菜是Lamb souvlaki, tyropita 和soutzoukia,隨餐附送 rice, roast potatoes, Greek salad, tzatziki 及 pita bread
Amazing dining experience, warm really friendly & attentive staff, friendly patrons, good food. Alex thanks for taking care of my little one and all the staff entertaining the 2 year old running around the place. Moussaka was amazing.
Enjoyed a nice dinner here tonight with my family. The food was very good and priced fairly. It was not our first visit and it will not be our last.
Can't say anything bad about them! Great view, great servers and unbelievably flavourful food! Very accommodating, even after we were late! I'm going back again and again to try everything on the menu!
My first time here with my boyfriend on April 26. We were seated at the window with an Incredible view especially with the sun. We ordered a platter enough food for four, which covered a little bit of all our favorite dishes. Everything was so delicious. The staff was friendly, the ambiance really set the mood. We definitely will be back to try other dishes or bring more friends/family to try the other platters.
Taverna Greka is located in downtown New Westminster. From the restaurant, people could see the amazing view of Port Mann Bridge and Beach. It was my third time having dinner at Taverna Greka. The same as before, I ordered Roast Lamb and my boyfriend had Lamb entrees for dinner. The food was decent and the portions of the food were OK not very heavy. Everything was fresh and tasty. The Pita Bread was one of my favorite food to eat at the Taverna Greka.
Taverna Greka was our go to spot for lunch in New Westminster yesterday - the usual “early-birds” when we dine out for lunch - we arrived at the restaurant shortly after it opened at 11am.
We received friendly, welcome greetings upon entering, and were shown to a window table, about mid-restaurant in location, so had very commanding upriver and downriver views of the Fraser River, and sights (and sounds) of the various activities taking place on the River itself, and adjacent waterfront areas. With clear, bright and sunny weather on-the-go at the time, it was a quite spectacular setting for our lunch.
Service to our table was prompt, helpful (especially with a few questions we had re: lunch menu offerings), and very pleasant throughout our stay.
We ordered and shared a lunch platter for two — which came with starters of pita bread, tzatziki (yogurt w/garlic and cucumber), and Greek salad — and the platter, with two portions each of lamb souvlaki (pieces of lamb on skewers), spanakopita (spinach wrap, asked for, to replace the tyropita, cheese wrap, as listed on the menu for this platter), soutzoukia (meatballs), roasted potatoes and rice. And I ordered a pint of Steal & Oak amber ale, to enjoy with my starter.
Wow, everything looked and tasted so good - we were treated to some fine food preparations. From our initial tastes of the starters (fresh ’cool’ salad, soft-textured pita bread, and ‘zippy’ tzatziki), through to last tastes of the main platter offerings (everything so well-prepared - lamb tender and flavourful, wrap lightly-crispy outside, spinach and other stuff, moist inside, yummy-spiced meatballs, roasted potatoes, and that wonderful rice), we found the distinctive flavours and tastes truly-captured our senses.
With the good food and service, nice ambiance, and wonderful view, our lunch dining experience at Taverna Greka was definitely “as good as it gets” for us!!
Incredible view. Best Greek food in new Westminster hands down. Serving size is generous for the price.biggest complaint: I wish that they delivered!!
This place has a great view of the Fraser river and the bridge for the skytrain. We were seated right by the window. I liked the seating area on this side of the restaurant as there was lots of natural light. We arrived and there weren't too many other tables, but as the night went on, it got busy.
I ordered the roast lamb dinner. It came with rice, potatoes, pita bread, and Greek salad. The meat was very tender. It was a bit salty for me. But I do find Greek food to be a bit on the saltier side. Aside from that, I really enjoyed my meal. The portion was quite large and I wasn't able to finish all my rice.
Overall, the service was great, especially with the large group that we had. The portions were large and food tasted great. If I was in the area and craving Greek food, I'd probably come back. I did notice that lunch menu prices are a lot cheaper than dinner. So maybe I'll come back for lunch.
Amazing food and great service.
The calamari was juicy yet crispy and the roast lamb was soooo melty and flavorful! The portions are great and the tzatziki sauce is to die for!!
I'm just visiting the area and I ordered the Greek baby back ribs as take-out for supper. They were heavenly! Large portions, and everything included was delicious. Very generous portion of tzatziki. Since I just got take-out I can't speak to the atmosphere, but the food was top notch!
Located along Columbia St. in New Westminster is Taverna Greka. It’s one of those places that I imagine would be swamped 24/7 if it were located on the likes of Granville or Robson due to it’s tasty eats and very upscale feeling locale. Plus, the view of the waterway is amazing! In any case, on to the food adventure!
Food is consistent here! I've eaten here twice now and ordered the roasted lamb both times (super yummy and highly recommended). Their view is amazing and overlooks the Port Mann Bridge; fairly romantic ambiance inside (especially when it comes to dinner with candlelights and the sunset over the bridge). I came here on two separate times of day (lunch and dinner). Their entrees come with Greek salad, rice pilaf, your entree, pita & tzatziki but the lunch portion is smaller (and cheaper!). I enjoyed the roasted lamb quite a bit, but I've also had a chance to sample off my friend's plate and try their Kalamari and well as their butter prawns. Their Kalamari is really tasty as well but their butter prawns, not so much
Came here last night on a bit of a whim when passing through New West. We had no expectations. We were just hungry. The place is really nice. It also has a great view of the river. I ordered the dolmades and they were damn good. My date had the chicken souvlaki and said it was some of the best she's had. We also got some pita bread and red pepper dip to start. Had double Caesars, which were definitely doubles, and gin and tonics too. The service was fast and friendly and everything tasted great and was priced quite well. Highly recommend checking this place out.
I was surprised by how much I enjoyed my dining experience at Taverna Greka. The dining area overlooks the Fraser river and they had a Greek belly dancer. She even got out of my seat to dance with her. It seemed like all the diners enjoyed the entertainment (it was a tad loud though). I ordered the lamb entree. Lamb was very moist, juicy and flavourful. The kalamari was also very tasty and fresh. I will be back to Taverna Greka.
Beautiful View. I've never had a bad experience here.
It's the preferred spot of family members who come to visit.
Get a spot by the window to overlook the river, and have some sangria!
Calamari was very bland. Wasn't much better for the main dish (I got two thin chicken breasts, a ton of rice, greek salad, and a tiny little potato). My boyfriend got the lamb and it was delicious. Waitress was very friendly and attentive. Beautiful view of the river.
I know where we'll be eating when we visit New West next. We spent a week in New Westminster, and made the mistake of trying Taverna Greka on our first night. "Mistake", because after one visit to Taverna Greka there didn't seem to be much point in trying any other restaurants in New Westminster. The first night we had the avgolemeno soup as a starter, followed variously by spinach-stuffed sole, spanakopita, and baked chicken breasts; and finished up with the Ek Mek dessert which is to die for. Alas, we had to share the dessert amongst the four of us, since the soup and entree portions, served with delicious rounds of fresh-baked bread, were more than adequate to leave little room for dessert. When we came back for subsequent visits we also tried the roast lamb, the moussaka, and the pepper chicken. They were all so good as to create a quandary -- have them again on the next visit, or try yet another specialty. Prices were reasonable, from $16 to $25 for the various entrees we chose.
The dining-room is a glassed-in porch overlooking the CPR line and the quayside boardwalk. New Westminster's Quay is a grassy green park, not the busy industrial scene you might think of when you think wharf -- it is quite picturesque as is the quaintness of the porch-diningroom itself. Service was excellent: our waitresses explained the specialties and looked after our needs promptly; they were friendly without being overly personal, and recognized us and welcomed us back each time.
I don't know when we'll be back to New Westminster next, but I know where we'll be eating dinner when we do go back.
Great Authentic Greek Food. This is by far my favorite Greek restaurant. I am Greek myself, and it is hard to find authentic tasting Dolmades - but not here, they are AWESOME and taste exactly like my ya-ya (grandmother) and pappoús (grandfather)'s recepie! Lamb is also very good and tender, practically melts in your mouth. The owners are very friendly and because of how long my husband and I frequent this restaurant they often give us a free glass of wine or Ekmek. Ekmek is kind of like a bread pudding dessert. Very yummy :)
Nice Greek atmosphere. Came here for a friendly gathering and the place itself was weird as the restaurant was U-Shaped in design (but at least they have exits on both sides)
Other than that, I have no complaints about the service and the Roast Lamb I ordered tasted great.
Loved it!. Wow! This place is so beautiful inside! We sat overlooking the river, which is a stunning view. We went on a Tuesday night, which meant there was live music, and it was very nice, just beautiful guitar (sounded like flamenco to me). Our waitress was very friendly and helpful, and I appreicate that she did not check in on us every minute so we were able to enjoy out time there.
As for the meal, my friend and I split everything and were quite satisfied after it all. The Spanikopita was very yummy, as was their tzatziki. We also very much enjoyed the ek mek dessert - delicious! Our main was the chicken souvlaki platter - the chicken was moist and flavourful, and the rice and potatoes were standard (all of it went very well with the tzatziki of course). It all hit the spot! Overall, I have to say I really enjoyed the ambiance and the food at Taverna Greka!
Really good food, great service & the setting is great, overlooking the river, boats, trains, planes & sunset. All good
Awesome lunch!. We went for lunch and found the price to be very reasonable. Under 10 dollars for roast lamb meal. Little gamey but I don't care. LOVE the taziki sauce, thick greek yogurt. My favorite part of the meal was definitely the desserts. I had "ek mek" this custard-like dish with cinnamon and walnuts on top of bread drenched in syrup (I tasted a bit of coconut) and it was AMAZING. for 5 dollars its a steal. My friend had the bougatsa and that was good but not as the custard one. I can't remember dessert being this good and I'm a foodie as well as a professional cook. I'd love the recipe for Ek Mek ;)
Very Good Greek Restaurant. This is NOT my 1st time here - my office used 2 B close-by and have been here +10x. It has consistently been a fairly good Greek restaurant (and I should know since my wife is Greek). However the last couple times - it started to become rather "average". This is going back to to the 2007 - 2009 era
My recent visit rejuvenated my opinion of this eatery. The plates and presentation have helped along with more authentic flavors. We shared Calamari, Saganaki and roast lamb - all was FINE.
Great family atmosphere- having my birthday there this year!
and offers a clear view of the Fraser River while you dine. They're currently undergoing, what looks like, a large renovation - we almost didn't go in because we could see the workers outside and weren't sure if it would be too noisy.
