Brilliantly prepared food. The presentation, texture and taste were all wonderful. Wine list is VERY fairly priced and there are most grape varieties. Student servers are learning and do an admirable job and are very interesting to chat with. One of the best places to eat in Nanaimo.
Our 2nd visit with another couple was equally rewarding. These guys do an excellent job preparing high quality meals with great service. Keep up the great work!

We thoroughly enjoyed a delicious meal of herb bread, seafood chowder, amuse bouche, sturgeon and dessert to celebrate with friends. The service, food presentation and price were all excellent. We recommend the Discovery Room for fine dining at a very affordable price.
I don't know where to start. Firstly, the ambiance is unbelievable. It's essentially eating in a two story home resembling San Francisco's "Painted Ladies".The service is unmatched. The Discovery Room is a learning lab for Vancouver Island University's culinary arts and hospitality management programs. Full disclosure - I am an employee of VIU. That said, the DR is very much worth a visit. Good food, good service, nice atmosphere, and a great view.
